Xander: Hey, I hope you're doing well today. Xander: You got some time to kill? I'm a break at work, figured we could chat a bit if you're not busy. Xander: Telling me to fuck off is a perfectly acceptable response, by the way.

@virtueofsanityx continued from x
It had been just a moment, really, a lucky one, that Xander had been close enough to watch her feet go from under her, to see what was coming. He had reached for her, glad he was close enough to grab her, too, but not thinking he'd actually be able to make the save. Then, there he was, Prince Fucking Charming, with both hands on Daisy's hips and her feet firmly planted beneath her. And were they having a moment?
His lips parted as he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing useful came out, just a few little sounds which made his cheeks burn hot before he internally said fuck it and leaned in to kiss her, his lips pressed against hers for a beat or two before he broke it, leaned back, tried to gauge her reaction. Had that been the right thing to do?

Location: Breaking Glass Bar Starter for @shadowedxcat
"How about for every game we watch you get to teach me more and more about your research? I'll even take notes." Xander was trying to show he was grateful that she had let him drag her along to the bar to watch March Madness games. "I also have money on a few of these games so I'll use some of my winnings to treat you. Maybe I don't know, get you a really fancy pen or something." Xander hadn't always considered himself the best friend to have. Sure he was reliable, loyal even but he had never really been good at the whole nurturing thing that it took to really make friendships last. To be someone who cared not just in actions. But since his recent birthday, he had realized that if kept letting his fear of everything ruin his connections to other humans, he was likely to be alone forever. Something he once thought he'd be okay with.
"Also I gotta tell you about one of the calls we responded to this morning. Gnarly. But after this last two minutes, this is the game I put the most money on," he admitted and pointed at the screen in front of them.

"Right? How much excitement can you possibly be having with a mountain of paperwork?" He lightly chuckled, "I am very delighted to hear you're not one of them. What a shame it would've been." Xander gives a small smile when asked about his job, he always enjoyed talking about what he did for work. "I am a server at The Inferno and occasionally a private chef for some clients I've had for a couple of years now. I guess we kind of make a dynamic duo in a way, hm? You with the drinks and me with the food. Watch out, Clearwater." He joked, taking another slow sip of his drink. "Of course. I believe hard work and dedication should be appreciated as much as possible. The world takes no hesitation when it comes to pointing out the negative things people do but fully hesitates to show them appreciation when it's rightfully deserved. You should be very proud of this place. It's coming along just fine." He lifts his drink to give a little cheers, then finishes it off. Saturday it was. "Saturday. Alright. I'll be here. In the meantime, I should probably get going." He goes to pull his wallet out, "How much do I owe you for the drink, August?
"I know it blows my mind that some people would really rather be in the back and having no interaction with people except for them employees. Like it really blows my mind, but let's just be glad that I'm not one of those people because that would be awful and it's just boring, honestly." He mentioned to Xander, "I'm sorry, what do you do for work though?" He questioned, wanting to get to know more about him and not minding the view as he did so. "I appreciate your comment for that, that's really nice of you to say. Not everybody appreciates how much hard work I put into Pandora's Box." He said, leaning back on the counter across from the other. "Well there ya go then. I can make Saturday work. We will be properly staffed so I won't have to worry about hopping back behind the bar and assisting them." August explained.

xander had learned his very first lesson at cambridge university: he greatly overestimated his tolerance for liquor. he'd had a measly cocktail and one beer at some welcome party. it wasn't his scene at all, and all he could think about as the shitty music nearly burst his ear drums was that he wanted to go back to his dorm and watch scary movies with his roommate who was so handsome it was maddening. so that was what the redhead did. he staggered his way back to his dorm hall and somehow managed to make it up the stairs. xander struggled with his key in the door but finally came out triumphant. he sloppily pushed his way into his shared room. there, sprawled out on his bed, was the statuesque alfie with not a stitch of clothing on, hand wrapped around his cock. xander swallowed hard, his face turning a bright red shade. he could feel his own cock stirring in his jean shorts. "uhh, hi, alfie," the redhead hiccuped. his hands dropped down to cover the tent in his shorts. he should've known to tear his eyes away, that it was rude to stare... but his inhibitions were far and few between. "d'ya want me to, uh, give you a second?" xander questioned. "don't stop on my account. we all gotta do it sometime." / @kitbogart

( i keep writing to you, )
--//-;; closed starter for @dcymcres --//-;; xander + larissa

The sight that left Xander's lips was heavy, annoyed, and to be honest... a little dramatic. What was supposed to be an easy start to his January -- his parents had finally left town after extending their holiday visit, his sister got off his back about his career, and his boss promised him a big story next month -- was turning out to be challenging in ways he couldn't have imagined. "Larissa..."
He leaned forward from his spot on the couch, his arms coming to rest on his knees as his hands folded together. Eyes held his gaze on hers, but he couldn't quite vocalize what he really felt on the inside -- which was panic. So, so much panic. On the outside, Xander kept a neutral façade (hilarious in its own right, if you know him), his brows only ever so slightly raising. "What do you mean, you're psychic? Like... how? Do you see ghosts?" Clearly, he didn't understand.

"We're going to be either really feared or hunted down for our magical bread weapons. Regardless, I'll start making us loaves so we can be ready just in case." He lightheartedly joked, his smirk widening a bit. "It is a real shame, isn't it? Good to know that I'll have you by my side though. Listen if it looks like the world is ending, let's meet here at this very booth. We'll snag a cup of burnt coffee for the road and begin our journey into the apocalypse together."
He chuckled, "Believe it or not, there is more to me than my rock hard bread. Not too much more, but a little." If he wasn't cooking, then he was online gaming. Rare were the times he truly felt like reaching out to talk to someone, let alone engage in conversation like he had with Cass. "I look forward to your visit, and your review. I appreciate that you wouldn't sugarcoat it. I prefer brutal honesty. Otherwise, how am I supposed to get better?" As fun as this was to talk about, Xander did not really think Cass would show up to The Inferno.
So, it was his choice to join the military, and it sounded like they both would've had similar reasons for joining had Xander gone down that path. And he came from Virginia. All the things he made mental notes about, filing them away. "Pretty reasonable reasons to join. I would've had similar. Plus, they would've paid for my schooling and that would have been very nice. But traveling the world, getting to know places you normally wouldn't have the opportunity to get to know, that part is mostly why I think I would've wanted to join. Learning everything else is just extra benefits."
Guess that makes two of us. He met Cassius's gaze at the comment, softly smiling. There was a moment of silence that passed after it was said, the words hanging in the air for a moment, before he lifts his mug for another sip of coffee.
"Law abiding citizen, how thrilling. I'll just have to hang up my criminal dreams. Perhaps in this apocalyptic world I can live them out. Stealing all the canned foods to help us survive or something." He leans in a little, "Your list of people liking you isn't very big, and my list of liking people is probably smaller." His gaze trails back out the window, noticing that the rain has lightened up.
As their conversation turn to his time living out of the van, his gaze returns to settle on the man in front of him. It had been a rather fun time in his life, meeting new people, visiting new places. Part of him did wish he had someone with him during the time, but it had been liberating being able to do it alone. "I recommend it at least once in your life. Even if it's not for long, just a simple road trip can teach you so much about yourself and this earth." His gaze drops down to his coffee, missing the way the other looked at him. Had he caught it then he would've realized that someone was seeing Xander beyond the reserved person he puts himself out to be. Like the person who did long for adventure out there, yet someone who also enjoyed sitting in a diner to enjoy a slice of cherry pie on a rainy day.
The waitress come by to ask if they needed anything to which Xander politely just asks for the check. He also informs her that he'd be paying for Cass's coffee tab today and politely thanks her before she leaves again. If there was one thing, he didn't want to do was overstay his welcome. Plus, the guy had been a pleasure to speak with, which was rare for Xander, so he figured the least he could do is pay for his coffee. After all, he had offered him a seat.
"Thirteen years ago, huh? This place does have a way of taking hold of a person, doesn't it? There's something about the small town just right outside the bustling city. It's almost like this place is right out of the Twilight Zone. A little town that you go in, seemingly perfect, but you never leave." He chuckled, sipping on the last bit of his coffee.
Their gazes meet again at the question that followed. "At the moment, I think I'm staying for good. It seems like I keep finding reasons to continue to like it here. Like meeting a stranger inside of a diner, on a rainy day, sitting down to enjoy a slice of cherry pie and cup of coffee. It's the little things, you know?"
The waitress brings back the tab and Xander places more than enough money down. To both cover their bill and the tip. "It's been a pleasure speaking with you, Cassius." He reached for his slightly damp jacket, finishing off his coffee. "Perhaps we'll see each other again."
Cassius smirked slightly, shaking his head at the bread weapons bit. “Yeah, I can see it now,” he muttered, leaning back against the booth. “Two legends of the wasteland, feared for our ability to knock a man out cold with a fuckin’ loaf of homemade cement.” His dark eyes flicked over Xander, smirk widening just a fraction. “Real shame the world ain’t ended yet. Coulda been our big break.”
At the mention of The Inferno, Cass tilted his head slightly, filing that away. “That so?” he mused. “Guess that means you’re more than just a part-time baker of disaster bread.” His smirk twitched. “Maybe I’ll stop by sometime, see if your clients got real taste or if they’re just too polite to tell you otherwise.” He let that settle before adding, “Fair warnin’ though—I don’t sugarcoat shit.”
As Xander polished off the last bites of pie, Cass exhaled slowly at the question about his time in the Navy. “Was my choice,” he said simply. “Parents had nothin’ to do with it. Didn’t wanna stick around Virginia, didn’t have money for school, so I figured I’d do somethin’ that’d take me somewhere else.” He shrugged, rolling his shoulders lazily. “It was what it was. Taught me a lot. Made me who I am.”
The thought of powdered eggs made him huff a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “Yeah, let’s hope it don’t come to that. Though if the world does end, I’d rather go out fightin’ than eatin’ that shit ever again.”
His dark gaze flicked up as Xander admitted it wasn’t often he felt comfortable talking to strangers. Cass smirked slightly, exhaling through his nose. “Guess that makes two of us,” he muttered, lifting his coffee to take another sip.
The criming comment made him shake his head, smirk widening. “Yeah, bad weather for crime,” he said dryly. “Guess you’ll just have to stick to bein’ a law-abiding citizen for the night.” He tapped a finger once against the side of his mug. He caught the next part—For what it’s worth, you can put me under the list of those who do not hate your guts. Cass huffed a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “That’s a real small list,” he muttered. “Good to know you’re on it.”
As Xander talked about his time livin’ out of a van, Cass listened, dark eyes sharp, thoughtful. “Ain’t a bad way to live for a while,” he admitted. “Movin’ when you want, no one expectin’ shit from you. Lotta people dream about that, but not many actually do it.” His gaze lingered on Xander for a moment, like he was seeing something most people wouldn’t.
At the question of what kept him around, Cass exhaled, rolling his shoulders slightly. “Came here after the Navy. Figured I’d stay a little while, get my law degree, move on.” His smirk twitched. “That was thirteen years ago.” He leaned back, stretching his arm along the back of the booth. “Guess the place grew on me. Or maybe I just got used to it.”
His dark eyes flicked back to Xander, unreadable but steady. “Question is, you stayin’ for good? Or you just waitin’ to get restless again?”

forced myself to finish this book even though by the last hundred pages or so all i was doing was picking apart the post-catholicism of it all. bc i feel like it's important to read shit you don't gel with . just because. even though the whole way through i was like they HAVE to prove it's not real. they HAVE to. so not the point of any of it but i was desperate for them to Find The Body etc. and of course instead they have mystical time travel experiences and all that because that is the kind of book the actual star is but i was desperate for them to realize that the star you see is the actual star. and then it wasn't
#the actual star#like i me? personally? am a staunch and firm believer that the star you see is the actual star#i dont cotton to the concept of 'higher levels of consciousness'#or 'transcendence' or the concept that the world is not the home#like. do i think people can put themselves in altered states of consciousness? sure. but none of those states are higher or better#it's just drugs or whatever. hallucination. sleep deprivation. really good/bad mood. brainwaves#i like aggressively dont believe that shit#but the book and the characters here DO. and i had to go with it while trying not to nitpick it too hard the entire time#not my favorite experience but one i was determined to have anyway just to see the thing through to the end#i think my favorite timeline was a tossup between the 1012 and the 3012. but the 3012 mostly in the beginning when it was all worldbuilding#by the end it was getting more mystical and i had too many issues with the future society that weren't going to have time to be resolved#which was very clearly also not the Point Of The Book which is a big one for loose threads and 'decoherence of meaning'#the 1012 plot was more engaging on a throughline level. i enjoyed it beginning middle to end just wish ket had been there more#she was sort of a decoy protagonist she got a couple chapters and then it was all the twins lethally misunderstanding each other#this is also a book which really really gets into entropy which#well first of all its scary. entropy. but secondable it's not as big of a noticeable deal as youd think it would be#what the fuck ever you're alive#who cares if everything is going to fall apart in eight billion years#there's a bit in the last xander chapter where he's like oh i HATE everything i HATE the earth!!! ok and you're about to have#the most formative experience of your life and build a cult around it. on the foundational idea that the earth isnt as real as heaven is#babeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the catholicismmmmmmmmmmmmmm#this book. more than anything. made me think about all of the 3012 jewish buddhist etc ppl living in sedente communities like#watching all of this from the sidelines wondering when Christianity 2 is going to fall apart under its own weight#now THAT'S entropy babey

Where: Kens home studio Who: Ken and Xander (@allwiredwrong)

Ken had his own wing at home, it was better this way living in the house at as Victor. He didn't mind, he was out of town more than anything so he rarely saw him anyway these days. However there was something about his studio that felt more comfortable than his living room. "I feel like its been ages since we talked, what did I miss you know other than the fact that you moved to my home town. Should I Worried? are you my new stalker?"

darthspockvader: it sounds nice, but not like it’s going to cure a cold or something like he says [he chuckled.]
darthspockvader: [for some reason the question about the garlic butter makes him smile.] honestly, both. you can get premade stuff at the store and use that instead of regular butter or you could either mince some garlic up or use garlic power in melted butter and it’ll work just fine. maybe one day…[he was about to say that maybe he could make him one of his grilled cheeses one day but ends up changing his mind.]…you should give it a shot. promise you that it’ll be good.
darthspockvader: [he snorts and laughs.] fine. i guess i’ll just leave the vader mask at home.[he sighs, dramatically]but you calling it lame…ouch. ouch, s. [but he’s just teasing and it can be heard in his voice.]
darthspockvader: [he finishes the last bit of his grilled cheeses, kneeling down to give the last bit of his turkey to leila who happily barked and took the her treat to her bed, which was in xander’s room.] she got a piece of turkey. damn pup has me, man. i am screwed. she’s going to be so fucking spoiled. [he chuckles and the noise of a running sink can be heard as he washes the dishes he used.]i guess if you call being very anti social growing up and not really getting out much living life by the trail, then yeah. but then i met someone , did a bit of living life on the road together, had some adventures…and yeah. he went off to live the path the universe intended for him and i lived out of the van we had shared for a bit. i found that i really liked it, for a bit, but…this place kinda stole my heart the moment i stepped foot here. [the water turns off, the clinking of dishes being set up to dry can be heard, and he’s now grabbing his water cup so he can head back into his room.]
darthspockvader: [he chuckled about the dick pic, quirking a brow, glancing to his computer screen for a brief second as he walks back into his room.] who knows. you’d have to ask and find out type of thing, you know? although…[he can’t help the next thing he says, his tone lightly teasing]…you did diss my vader mask idea earlier. sooo.
darthspockvader: [he picks up leila, sets his cup down, then flops on the bed. he chuckled at the idea of muting darren.] sunday it is. you, me, and some motherfucking zombies. [he yawned, stretching a little.] i think i’m going to call it a night, s. as always…it’s been a pleasure. catch you on sunday, assuming my date isn’t an axe murderer [he chuckled.]
schr0ding3r: cinnamon tea and whiskey? wait, why does that actually sound kind of nice? might have to look into that. schr0ding3r: no, can't say i've tried putting garlic butter. is that like, premade stuff or do i have to chop the garlic myself and put it in the butter? schr0ding3r: [he laughs, almost chokes on his own spit when vader suggests wearing a vader mask on his date] that's so lame... don't actually do that. just be safe an' shit. schr0ding3r: [he nods when vader tells him that it wasn't a somewhat amicable breakup. he forgets that people can have that sometime. his own breakups were all pretty messy.] right... wait, where did you used to stay life by? the tail? schr0ding3r: [he scrunches his face, chuckling, when vader jokes about sending him a dick pic] you mean, if i asked you for one, you'd send it? schr0ding3r: [he smiles at the simon pegg impression and how excited vader sounds about their movie night] okay, well, looks like we're watchin' shaun of the dead, then. yeah, we can invite darren, if he can shut the hell up. or we can just mute him or whatever. sunday... [he thinks for a second. he doesn't remember making any prior commitments.] yeah, i can do sunday. gives me an excuse to be busy in case my mom drags me out to the fuckin' salon again.

Location: Xander's Apartment Starter for @hearthandhallows
Xander took a moment, even taking another bite of cake before he said anything. He thought about messing with them and making a sarcastic joke before telling the truth but from the way Felix had presented the cake, he felt like it was only right to take it seriously. "That seriously may be the best cake I've ever had, Felix. And I'm not just saying that to say that. Like," he paused and took another big bite both to prove his point and because he had been craving it almost immediately after his last bite. "The guys at the firehouse would go wild for something like this." He finally sat back and put his fork down, patting his stomach gently. "Thanks for that, needed something good after a day like today. Hey, I got something I need your nerdy opinion on though," he told them. Xander didn't always consider himself the smartest person. He didn't want to be but he knew he could probably read more and fill his life with more culture. He at least was interested in music but beyond that most of his hobbies were related to fitness or maintenance related work.
He got up from the chair in his living room to retrieve something from his bedroom. "I figure I should try to I don't know, read more, see what's going on out there. And like, comic books count, right? But I bought these at some yard sale recently, no idea if they're worth it," he told Felix and set the comic books down on the table. "Uh I think one is like X-Men and the other two are something called Watchmen. You ever heard of it? I don't know, my younger brother was always into this more than me."

@aeviterncl // For Xander
Ellie hadn't been on campus since she was granted the ability to do her classes online, something that was only given to her due to the Dean assuming she was mute, maybe even deaf. She'd never corrected him, it wasn't worth it, and things probably wouldn't have gone her way if she had.
Today, though, she roamed around the grounds trying to remember where the library was. She was careful to be there after school hours, not wanting to deal with too many students, and especially not those that had bullied her in her first few weeks here. She shuddered at the memory, reminding her way too much of high school, and instantly she'd known she'd made the right decision to transfer to online classes.
After several minutes, she walked up the stairs to the library, pushing the door open without looking and successfully hitting a red haired boy in the face with it. Her eyes widened as she rushed inside around him, letting the door close with a thud behind her, and gripped his arm. Looking up at him with concern, trying to make sure he was okay, she stood on her tippy toes and leaned in so she was as close to his face as her legs would allow her.
"I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" She asked, still gripping at his arm. Her voice was just under a whisper, there was a chance if he wasn't paying attention, that he wouldn't hear her speaking at all.

@atrickrtreat said -> "I've tried to bury these feelings, but they keep resurfacing. I love you, and I'm sorry if that complicates things."
Of all the possible combinations of words that could have possibly fallen out of Iggy's mouth, what he actually said was the furthest thing from what Xander had expected. Baffled and blindsided, he stood there with his mouth flopping uselessly. "I... I..." He floundered, swallowing hard as his heart hammered in his chest. He felt stupid, knew he looked stupid, too, which was about a billion times worse. That doesn't complicate things, he wanted to say, but it absolutely did, didn't it? They were in a band that toured together, what if that love suddenly stopped? What if shit went bad? Xander closed his eyes for a moment and caught his breath, clearing those thoughts from his mind because, at the end of the day, wasn't this his second fucking dream come true? How long had he had such strong feelings for Iggy? He couldn't put a date to the beginning and there seemed to be no end. "I love you, too." He finally said, feeling stupid that it had taken so long to choke out such a simple and obvious response but one that offered no resolution to their obvious anxieties over the matter.

"Nothing wrong with hot cheetos. Throw some chicken, steak, or ground beef on them with some cheese and diced up tomatoes with lettuce? Delicious. I'm also the weirdo kid who liked hot cheetos in their cup of ramen." He could appreciate a good snack like that, though he supposed every night for dinner it was probably not a good thing. When Corey mentions that they used to cook for their mom, Xander locks in on that. He likes to pick up on things that people tell him about themselves and the little snippets of their life they allow Xander into. He was more of a listener than a talker anyway. "What was your mom's favorite dish to eat?"
From the sounds of it, it sounded like they had similar tastes in food. He chuckled, "I guess we are basic bitches then." He makes a mental note to tell his favorite discord person about this later on tonight as he was sure the guy would get a laugh out of hearing Xander call himself a basic bitch. "Alright, well...I'll whip you up some homemade chinese food. That's easy enough and you'll have plenty of leftovers." Easy and a kind gesture to show his appreciation. Maybe connecting with people off a screen wasn't that difficult after all. "Thanks for the congratulations. I mean, I don't know if I am fully gay, but I am pretty sure. I think. I'm only saying the think part because I've never had a chance to have a girlfriend, so." Part of that was due to his reserved type of personality and keeping most everyone at arm's length.
They arrive to Xander's place and not a moment too soon as Leila was giving little yawns. "Yeah, she is. It was nice meet you, Corey. I'll definitely be diving into your DM's soon and we can plan a day for that food." He smiled, "Thanks for everything tonight. I hope the rest of your night goes uninterrupted and you get to sleep in until noon." With that he gives a small nod, looking down at Leila, "Alright, my love, let's go introduce you to your new forever home." And he walks up to the house, ready to show Leila around before tucking her into bed for the night.
END
"I'd like to pay someone to make my dinner if I was rich. Beats having hot cheetos for dinner." Corey looked over at Xander with a smirk. "That's only kind of a joke. I actually used to cook a lot, for my mom." Since her death, though, Corey just hadn't had the same motivation. It was wild how they could take care of her, but not themselves. Grabbing something greasy on the way home, grabbing a banana and a protein bar in the morning (if they were ever up that early), just seemed easier.
"I'm a pretty basic bitch, honestly. Love Chinese food. Chicken fried rice, a nice curry, but my regular diet, if we're not counting takeout, it's a lot of chicken, steak, vegetables, rice, potatoes. Basic." Corey didn't like to spend too long in the kitchen. They had better things to do with their time than stand there over a stove. It was just a means to an end. "Congrats on being gay, bro," Corey said, lightly clapping him on the shoulder. "It's pretty rad. You couldn't pay me to be straight," Corey scoffed. If they weren't attracted to Mateo, who was objectively the most handsome man Corey had ever seen, what chance did anyone else have?
"Honestly, I was going to go home, hang with my little garbage can monster cat, eat salty snacks and maybe catch up on a basketball game or two on the NBA app before I crawl into bed and sleep until noon," Corey answered. "So as you can see, you've really fucked up my night." They gave a playful grin. "You're just lucky I don't got a girl waitin' for me, or you woulda been on your own." Corey reached out to pet Leila some more. She seemed to be getting sleepy after the food and all the excitement of meeting new people and being chased around an alley. "This is the only lady in my life right now. And the only lady in yours, apparently." Corey checked their watch. "I should go. But DM me tomorrow, let me know how you get along with the vets and stuff. I got a contact who works there if you end up needing anything."
