(Fanservant prompt) Alter Ego Zhao Sisters with the nine-headed pheasant and the jade pipa as their third ascensions. Basically the Zhao Sisters from Han Dynasty are mixed with Daji's "younger sisters" from Fengshen Yanyi: Hu Ximei, the nine-headed pheasant (Jiutou Zhiji Jing) is mixed with Zhao Feiyan, the older Zhao Sister while Wang Guiren, the jade pipa (Pipa Jing) is mixed with Zhao Hede, the younger Zhao Sister.

For the anon that submitted a request for queer headcanons, I headcanon Oryou as transfem non-binary, though she doesn't use the labels or even understands what those labels are. She is just Oryou, after all. However, she bristles when people refer to her old identity/dead name (hinted slightly in GG6, but unconfirmed, to be Hiruko, the abandoned son of Izanagi and Izanami from Japanese mythology). For a scenario, perhaps someone from the Japanese pantheon is summoned to Chaldea (if there is not someone already there) and recognizes Oryou as Hiruko.

Prompt (I can't believe I send this): A Naked and Afraid parody where Saitou Hajime and Nagakura Shinpachi (the younger one aja his 2nd and 3rd ascension) found themselves naked and stuck on an island with no clothes and weapons because they can't remember anything on last night until they found a letter say: "Two survivalists who meet for the first time naked and are given the task of surviving a stay in the wilderness for 21 days. Each survivalist is allowed to bring one helpful item, such as a machete or a fire starter. After they meet in the assigned location, the partners must build a shelter and find water and food." Can they survived on this island in 21 days? (A very juicy Saitou Hajime x Nagakura Shinpachi prompt).

My reasons includes spoilers for Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Fate/Zero, so I stuck it under the thing (if anyone cares to read it).

Gilgamesh

I feel like I could point to any one of his personality traits and say that's why I don't like him, but I thought I'd list some examples anyway.

Irritable

He only seems to like talking to people he finds interesting; most of the time in Fate/Zero you see Gilgamesh with Kirei. This might just be me, but he seemed exasperated while talking to Tokiomi as if conversing with Tokiomi were a chore or beneath him. And I get the impression most people would fall into the category Tokiomi was in.

No sense of Duty

When caster Gilles turned into a giant tentacle monster in the middle of the lake, Gilgamesh had zero interest in helping to protect Fuyuki or its citizens. Even at his master's request, he does less than the bare minimum of what could be considered helping. I’d be super disappointed if I summoned a heroic spirit and he decided to just watch.

Selfish

He wants Artoria, but she's not a person to Gilgamesh; she's an object. He finds her interesting and decides he wants to own her. He knows she has her own sense of autonomy, but doesn't believe that's as or more important than his own desires. She hates him, but that's not a deterrent because he doesn't care.

Questionable Ethics

When he was watching Kirei indulge himself for the first time (which involved driving a man insane), Gilgamesh wasn't even slightly disturbed; if anything, he seemed a bit bored.

I feel like Gilgamesh is a character you either love or hate, but your reasoning will be the same; "He's a bastard," vs, "He's a glorious bastard." I like a few hot mess characters myself, but they know they're garbage. Honestly, I struggle to find any good traits in Gilgamesh.

Shirou

While I can find some nice things to say about Shirou, I don't like him either; I like him more than Gilgamesh though. Let me throw a disclaimer in here real quick: my critique of Shirou is based on the anime. If Aniplex.exe ever decides to release the visual novel, I might reevaluate how I feel about Shirou.

Fatally Stupid

He insists on continuing to go to school as he always has, but doesn't let Artoria go with him. Instead he promises to use a command seal to summon her if he gets into trouble...And then he fails to do that. Remember when he found himself facing Rider? She had him dangling in a tree by his arm! And that time he decided it would be ok to hang out with Illyasviel (while she was still Heracles's master)? That got him kidnapped. Honestly, I can live with him not being a proper magus and being incapable of powering Artoria so she could fight at her full potential, but I wish he had made up for that by being at least a little smarter or willing to work with/listen to his servant more. This may be my own headcanon, but I think any injury he sustains is a mark against Saber's honor. She is a knight in his service so his survival is her responsibility. Any injury he sustains is, what she may view, as a failing on her part.

Sexist Parading Around as Chivalrous

He doesn't want Saber to fight because she's female. She's a seasoned warrior who's probably spent more time on the battlefield than Shirou's spent on Earth. With the way he insists on her staying on the sidelines, you'd think he wanted to take her place because he's a superior fighter. But, no; I'm not even sure that prior to meeting Artoria he so much as punched somebody. Artoria’s fighting ability aside, she has magic resistant armor and a holy sword. What did Shirou have when he jumped between Saber and Berserker? Jeans and a t-shirt. Dumb luck and (unknowingly) being in possession of Avalon are probably the only reasons he survived the Grail War at all. The reason this gets it's own category is because it's insulting to Saber in a different way than my last point.

Pushes His Ideals/Thoughts on Others

I'm not sure how or why he thought staying in the present would make Artoria happy, but he won't let it go. He has every right to want her to be happy, but the thing he doesn't understand is that he doesn't get to decide what that looks like for her. He figures it out at the very end, so unfortunately we don't get to see how this knowledge would change his interactions with Artoria.

As a bit of a side note, for someone who claims he's in love with her, he doesn't take much of an interest in her past. He may want her to move forward, but everything that she's been through shaped who she is now. Having that context wouldn't hurt. And, to avoid making her uncomfortable, his questions wouldn't even have to be super personal. Something like, "Can you tell me about the round table? There are a couple of designs of what it could've looked like and there's no consensus on how many people it could accommodate. Where there assigned seats?" would've been perfectly fine. I'm sure she could've talked for hours about her code of chivalry or Cavall if he had bothered to ask.

Also, for some reason, Shirou hugging Artoria in the hallway and her telling him to let go is sticking in my mind. Listen. If person A likes something, it doesn't give person B the right to do it, especially if person A says "no" or "stop." Consent is super important.

Fun fact: I don't think I'd mind Shirou so much if he were a side character. But because he's the protagonist, we have to sit through him doing this stuff all the time. It just gets old.

Archer Emiya

My dislike for Shirou is so strong, it even oozes into Archer Emiya a bit. In Unlimited Blade Works, if I were Rin, I would've told Cu Chulainn, "When you go fight Archer, use whatever force you deem necessary to win; I have no use for traitors." I dunno. Instead of deciding on his own to try to get Saber for Rin, I think he should've talked to her about it first. Plus leaving her tied to that chair was dangerously stupid. Maybe he was worried about her interfering with his match with Shirou, but if Shirou's own servant took a seat on the side-lines, I'm sure there would've been a way to convince Rin not to interfere.

If anyone's still reading at this point, I guess it'll come to no surprise that I don't ship Artoria with either Shirou or Gilgamesh (since I did talk a bit about their relationships with her). But, I won't attack anyone who does; my bff ships Artoria with Gilgamesh. I don't get it, but her enjoyment of her ship does not affect my ability to enjoy my ships (Artoria x Bedivere, Artoria x Diarmuid, and Artoria x Guinevere x maybe-Lancelot-sometimes).

Name: Emiya Aito (he’s named after Manaka, whose name you can also read as ‘Aika’)

Gender: Male

General Appearance: Strawberry blonde hair that he’s dyed, naturally it’s the same colour as Ayaka’s, Aito wanted to dye it to match Shirou’s but he messed it up, now everyone thinks he’s a delinquent. Facially, he takes more after his father than his mother, he definitely has Shirou’s eyes, for example, he stands at about 5′9′’, very athletic. Grew his hair out long when he was about fourteen and never looked back.

Personality: A sweet, young man who seems to have been born unlucky, Aito would be relatively popular if he didn’t suffer from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Athletic, polite, but also a tad blunt and too honest for his own good and set in his ways and ideals.

Special Talents: Inherited both of his parent’s cooking ability plus their harem protag powers ability to bounce back from the most unlikely situations. Not much of a magus though.

Who they like better: Ayaka, who he probably spends more time with.

Who they take after more: Shirou.

Thinking the random stuff about my FGO Shirou. He is a misplaced version of a UBW adjacent timeline, in which he did fight Archer and everything (because it is funnier to me that he is aware and so he knows a bit more about Projection)

Kotaro ( @jaakunxkaze​ ) and the other Fuumas have been teaching Shirou their techniques, learning how to move silently even without realizing it and how to anticipate ambushes. I have already commented how Shirou have skills that are going to eventually manifest as Archer’s Mind’s Eye (B), so it is likely that the equivalent of his Mind’s Eye C- ranked up to C from this training

As both Kotaro and Shirou are red haired and Shirou can Project weapons, it is easy for them to confuse the enemy. Sure, the Master is 10cm taller, but during action it isn’t something the enemy would pay attention most of the time

In order to train his structural analysis, Shirou started to study sculptures under Da Vinci’s instructions. Somehow it also turned into making elaborate cakes and chocolate sculptures, although he doesn’t do it very often because it takes a long time and isn’t too practical. (I did this one with @theuniversalwoman​ but I’ll likely disregard it when interacting with other Da Vincis unless they are interested in keeping this one)

Shirou is misplaced 10 years into the future, so he has a good time enjoying the technology. He is always touching mobiles and tablets, opening the gadgets and investigating everything. It is so much fun for him to nerd out and see the new things. Of course after the few months it subdued a little but he still loves tinkering whenever possible.

Speaking about being in the future, he avoids checking the “current news” so he wouldn’t be tempted to do something and put the timeline in jeopardy once he goes back to his own reality. However, the one thing that he does check is, of course, the new movies and shonen manga… (the temptation is too strong!)

He avoids Muramasa mostly because he feels awkward, but part of him wants to fanboy over the legendary blacksmith and ask a lot of questions.

Shirou also avoids cooking at Chaldea. That’s Archer’s thing.

Over time, Shirou also started to “accept” more his bits that would lead him to become Archer, starting to Project the bow (Japanese-style, as seen in the Fate route, not the Western-style as Archer uses) and more common arrows. Broken Phantasms are still not something he tried yet.

The boy keeps his morning training routine even in Chaldea and will happily ask and practice fighting with any Servant that would want to. (Yes, he would love resuming being trained by Saber if she is willing to).

@more-than-a-princess​ In a rare bit of time all to himself, and no friends and/or family to commandeer the remote, Shirou is able to watch anything he wants to on TV. What TV show/movie is he putting on and why (and no, turning the TV off to train/cook/clean/be a house husband isn't an option!)?

Sometimes he will watch culinary shows to learn new recipes, but his favorite thing to watch is tokusatsus. And no, he doesn’t hid it. It isn’t a guilty pleasure, it is a downright pleasure. He even makes a point in scheduling to record the program if he can’t make it because of work or something and watch later. These kind of shows always have this positive message about justice, hard work and that no matter how dark the situation may be there is always hope in the end. Sure, sometimes evil may prevail, but in the long run good people who work very hard WILL win.  And unlike popular belief about tokusatsus and super sentai in general, some of them have a rather dark underlining despite their exuberant presentation. Shirou also enjoys watching IWGP and NJPW fights, despite knowing most of it is just for show it is always entertaining to watch and the storylines keeps him hooked!

... and, of course, the news.

Time to write Shirou’s Christmas headcanons? Yup.

Christmas isn’t a big deal in Japan, it isn’t even a holiday, so most of the celebrations are after work hours. But while Kiritsugu was alive he would celebrate it with Shirou, mentioning bits of his time in Germany but never going too in-depth. Their dinner would either be provided by the Fujimuras or Kiritsugu would order it and heat it, everything very simple because he couldn’t cook and the boy was too young for anything complex and it was a very important task. The one decoration they had was a small Christmas tree that Shirou would set up. Sometimes he would have Taiga’s help, or Kiritsugu’s, specially to reach the top. But nothing too elaborate, and a small gift exchange between the two. A small event between father and son, enjoying the quiet times.

After Kiritsugu’s death, Shirou never decorated the Emiya Residence again. Sometimes Taiga would invite him to join the Fujimuras, but most of the time there would be business meetings between Raiga and the associates so it wouldn’t be possible for Shirou to join. Most of his Christmas are spent at his part time job at Copenhagen, assisting Neko and Master in whatever he can. The place is a liquor store during the day and a pub during nights, and sometimes also offer finger food and snacks, so Shirou would have some stuff to do. For Shirou it is normal to have an uneventful Christmas.

After the 5th Grail War, his Christmas would go many different ways.

In the Fate route, Illya is alive, so it would be almost certain that they would have a celebration at the Emiya Residence with everyone: Shirou, Taiga, Illya, Rin and Sakura, and whoever friends that would want to join in. It would be the first Christmas celebrated since Kiritsugu’s passing and the last. In UBW route, it would be a quiet and rather cozy one with Rin, the first of their many Christmas together. The ones during their time at the Clock Tower would be similar, but maybe sometimes they would get invited to other celebrations? It is likely. In HF route …Well, no Christmas that year. Spoilers. But all subsequent Christmas would be with Sakura. In the Neutral/Archer route it would depend: it might be exactly like the previous years, but if Shirou learns that Rin spends her Christmas by herself then he would join her in a friend date or something. Or if she learns about how he spends his Christmas first I think she would take the initiative. And, ofc, this verse is open for pretty much all interactions with my partners.

He would also celebrate Christmas while in England with Rin and his fellow classmates in most of the verses (except HF) but after starting his travels it would be harder for him to celebrate – specially in isolated places or where there is no proper Christmas. It would depend on the year and the occasion.

I think I mentioned it a few times, but never elaborate about my hc of FGO!Shirou not usually being part of the kitchen staff. Thanks to the training that Da Vinci’s encourages, the memories from the Grail War that were slipping away started to resurface, including the recollections of Archer’s life and existence as a Counter Guardian. Shirou can tell how lonely that existence is, how he had to discard his humanity little by little until becoming an emotionless machine. Being summoned amidst the worst mankind has to offer, killing everything in sight and waiting until his mana runs out, only to be trapped inside his own Reality Marble waiting for the next deployment. But when he sees Archer in the kitchen, peacefully cooking, he understands – after all, Shirou always felt more connected to people throughout making meals. A way to reconnect with the humanity he had to discard a long time ago. As much Shirou wants to cook too, and he would also show that his cooking is much better than Archer’s (because deep down they have this instinctive urge to compete) , he don’t have the heart to take it away from the Heroic Spirit.

Some rambling on my FGO!Shirou

I’d like to preface that FGO and FSN are alternative realities: in FSN the 5th Fuyuki Holy Grail War took place in 2004 and, in most cases, Shirou was the “winner”. However, in FGO, the 1st Fuyuki Holy Grail War took place in 2004 and Marisbury Animusphere and his Caster were the ones who won and the spoils and reputation to create Chaldea.

In any case, my Shirou is a variant of the UBW verse: at one point Archer betrayed Rin, Shirou fought him and got exposed to Archer’s techniques and memories during the battle, having an extended exposure to his future self’s Saint Graph. I know that the hottest thing right now is to consider everybody in the Lostbelt saga, but I consider Shirou was summoned at some point during the Observer on Timeless Temple arc. Maybe at some point during Orleans or Septem, when they were still getting used to the tech and everything. This way he can interact with both Romani and Da Vinci and grow alongside FGO protagonist, basically acting like an older brother figure of sorts while also having his own quest. And I’d also love to have him in the Camelot singularity don’t @ me, and Babylonia would also be a wild ride for him.

But what about Muramasa?

Simple: it is one of the many Parallel World Shirou.

He also feel highly uncomfortable around Kiara but has no idea why. These are ripples from one of the Fate/Extra realities that would eventually lead to Emiya Alter.

After the events of Act 1, Shirou decided to stay a while longer. There are always smaller Pseudo-Singularities in the making needing correction, like how we see in Assassin!Emiya Interludes and a few others, and he wanted to enjoy everybody’s company a little while longer. However, when the new staff arrived and Shirou saw the priest, the boy knew it was bad news. Before he could say anything, Holmes advised him to hide. The boy’s very presence was something highly complicated to explain: someone from the past, from another parallel reality, capable of doing one of the taboos of the Mages’ Association in one single generation (Reality Marble) and the human before a Heroic Spirit/Counter Guardian? That would certainly have him given a Sealing Designation and have Chaldea in deeper shit, considering how many times they broke the Association’s laws already. Soon as possible, Shirou rendezvoused with Holmes and started helping the escape plan, fighting the oprichnik while rescuing as many members of the staff and taking them to the Shadow Border. However...He is too late to save Da Vinci.

Who is ready for the one head canon I got for Illyaverse Shirou?

There is a point in the manga that Illya explains to Ruby the circumstances of Shirou’s adoption. Years ago, Kiritsugu came to Japan ahead, to arrange for the rest of the family to come with him, and it was during that time that he took the boy in. Illya is unaware of the details at the time, but later it is explained that Kiritsugu and Iri ran away from the Einzbern to avoid being part of the Grail War. Given how Miyuverse Shirou lost his parents in a tragedy, I imagine that Shirou had similar circumstances to become an orphan. Perhaps it was something magical in nature (I mean, we only see Miyuverse Kotomine and in Illyaverse we got Caren, which makes me wonder… ) or maybe it was a legitimate natural tragedy. In any case, we also see this scene:

This is Iri sealing away Illya’s homunculus memories/nature, which ended up becoming a separate personality which culminated in creating Chloe. This makes me wonder: it would be very easy for Iri to seal away Shirou’s traumatic memories, so he can’t recall being saved by Kiritsugu – meaning he has no motivation to idealize the concept of saving people. And now I raise yet another thing to go with that: in Fate/Zero we learn that even someone with feeble magic circuits as Waver is capable of hypnosis, and Kiritsugu also does that. So perhaps either Iri or Kiritsugu himself placed a “mental block” on Shirou, making him extra oblivious and being able to assimilate/acknowledge the existence of magecraft. This way it would be much easier for him to live a normal life and don’t question things – like why a middle class Japanese family has two maids or the nature of his parents’ travels.

tl;dr: Illyaverse Shirou was brainwashed into being extra dumb about magecraft
