I was absolutely thrilled to hear Wytches is getting an animated adaptation so I whipped up some fanart. If you’re a horror fan and you haven’t heard of the comic Wytches written by Scott Snyder and drawn by Jock with stunning color work by Matt Hollingsworth I can’t recommend it enough. Hey fellow horror fans! 👻 I really don’t read enough horror comics and graphic novels, so I decided for a Harvest themed challenge I would stretch the definition a little and dive into Wytches for a second time. I mean, it takes place in late fall…it totally counts. What I loved 😍 I adore the art style and the color work throughout this comic. The unique way of layering colors with splatters…

This is a limited comic series called 'Wytches' by Scott Snyder and Illustrated by Jock. It's a horror comic that has a very nice look about it. it's very, Walking Dead, image comics but with more personality, while I do like the walking dead comics I always thought the black and white was not helping itself and even in the coloured version, its very unflattering and dull where as, here I love the use of colour and line work. Something I always noticed and appreciated is the 'show and don't tell' nature of them, while most of these shots are mainly black with a few bits of grey and brown thrown in, you can still tell what things are and what's going on, you don't need the superhero comic boxes that read 'meanwhile in downtown New York' or 'elsewhere in the hights of the Himalaya mountains', people can figure out what things are for themselves and I just love that's what they've done here. I also want to say how much I like the messy, smudgy, painted look of the front cover, while I've said before that I'm not the biggest horror fan with a few exceptions like 'The Walking Dead' and the 'Scream' franchise, I do like the use of only red and only grey, with all the different shades and shapes, it looks very diverse and individual instead of the cliché floating head poster that have ruined so many great movies, shows, books and comics for me and many others.

Scott Snyder recently shared an update on the #PrimeVideo adaptation of his comic series #Wytches with artist Jock.

Despite his busy schedule with #DCComics, he revealed in his Substack newsletter on August 2nd that the writers' room for Season 2 is deeply involved in the creative process, describing it as both consuming and thrilling. He hinted that the upcoming season will further develop and intensify the storyline, comparing it to the relationship between Aliens and Alien.

#ScottSnyder also mentioned that the first season might not premiere until late 2025 or 2026 due to ongoing strikes. Moreover, he expressed his excitement about the test animation, which he believes faithfully brings Jock's art to life.

Lurae, a Drukhari Wych, decided to indulge in a rare moment of leisure by the pool, seeking a brief escape from the endless bloodshed. Clad in her spiked armor, she waded in, only to puncture a float with her deadly blades, turning the serene waters into a chaotic mess of foam and ruin. Her fellow Drukhari, initially amused by the sight, soon joined in, turning the poolside into an impromptu arena. Amid the laughter and splashes, the pool became yet another stage for their unending thirst for carnage and mayhem.
