So House of the Dragon has my brain going brrr so I made a fan-dragon

His name is Wyndrider and he is around 15 years old. He is also sometimes called “Sun-face” due to his coloring. 

I don’t have a title for him like other dragons do but I call him the “Tropic Tango” as a joke

He is based off of:

Argus Monitor / other monitor species facial / neck structure

Collard lizard colors

Rwenzori Three Horned Chameleon nose horn, yellow on his sides, and the color used for his hands and feet gradient

Rattlesnake tail and venom duct

Basilisk Lizard crests/frills 

Smooth skin/scales like Leatherback bearded dragons and snake species

Pterosaur-like wings

Diet:

He is mainly a piscivore, but he has a strange liking to carrots

He doesn’t char his food like many other dragons do

Personality:

Basically an energetic puppy with wings and fire

He will play tug-of-war and fetch, but be careful when playing ToW because he is strong for his size

He is able to understand “non-dragon/Valyrian” languages pretty well, and will preform tasks when asked

10/10 would dance for you if you asked

Abilities:

He is able to swim quite well

He can use his the end of his tail like a weapon due to its hard structure and pointed edge

He is a very good flier, and is able to find the perfect air currents to glide for miles 

Can use his front horn as a weapon like a rhino would

He has venom that will make it where blood is unable to clot so the bite-victim bleeds out

Downfalls:

A little too trusting of everyone

He has to take a running start to fly (like pit-Drogon)

He has very smooth and tiny scales which don’t provide as much protection as larger scales do

Very colorful, makes him very easy to spot

Smaller in size due to his age, please don’t do what Vhagar did to Arrax to him (spoilers)

Stats: (estimated because I suck at calculating things, especially when paired with fictional dragons)

Age: around 15, most likely 13

Height: 10 feet at the crest (image is him compared to my 5′7 self)

Length: Around 22 feet 

Wingspan: Around 25 feet

Also apparently the average height for women in the U.S. is 5′4 so I guess I could be considered tall

I've been wanting to ask this of you for quite sometimes but never did. Can you recommend me some anime? I've been away from anime world for quite sometimes. I want to start watching anime again but I just don't know what to watch. I need to make a list of anime to check out later. Thanks Lily :)

I feel like I’ve been waiting for this question my whole life. Melodramatic queen.

I say this as I haven’t been keeping up with anime seasons since 2015, but I’m still an anime fan so let’s go for a few recs!

Akatsuki no Yona / Yona of the Dawn

I’m starting with this one because I noticed you mean to start it so I’ll just convince you to go for it, lol. Yona is a good transition for someone who has been watching mostly kdrama/cdrama because the scenario is very reminiscent of Korea and the magic aspects can appeal to wuxia fans.

The plot? Oh, the sageuk feels. Sheltered princess Yona’s best friend/first love murders her father to become King, and Yona is forced to flee the palace to save her own life. Together with her other childhood friend and guardian, Son Hak, Yona sets out to find allies who can help her reclaim her throne - and the dragons from legend who will pledge their lives to her.

It’s wonderful to watch Yona grow. She doesn’t know much of anything, of the world, of battle, but she adapts, and boy, does she adapt.

Chills.

Natsume Yuujinchou

Natsume is basically my life. At this point in time, Natsume has gathered 6 seasons and if you think that would have lessened its quality, you’d be wrong. It’s still just as touching, universal and magnificent as it was 9 years ago.

High school student Natsume Takashi can see spirits. This has ruined his life since he was a child because everyone is afraid of him, and without parents, Natsume goes back and forth between relatives who don’t want the hassle of raising such a problematic child. Natsume discovers his grandmother, Natsume Reiko, had the same powers as he did and went around making contracts with spirits and collecting their names in a single book called the Yuujinchou - the Book of Friends. He also releases a powerful spirit called Madara - who usually hides in the form of a fat cat.

What makes Natsume so different from all other “boy can see spirits” anime is that it’s very… soft. Natsume could have been a hateful, traumatized child but he’s kind. He will always stop to help, he will always smile, no matter how painfulk it is for him to do so. It is no exaggeration to say I’ve cried in every episode because, well, I have. It shows so many different human emotions, so many connections, lost love, lost friendships, and relationships that can also never be broken. It’s beautiful and poingnant and you will not regret the hours spent on it.

This is the point where my anime friends, if they see this list, will be laughing loudly and saying, “Yep, that’s Lily, all right”. Because I was obnoxiously loud about T&B in 2011 and I’m still loud about it now.

In a world where being a super-hero is a job and some humans called NEXT have developed powers, our veteran protagonist, Kotetsu Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger, in order to cover up for his multiple fuck-ups, is forced to form the first ever super-hero duo with newcomer Barnaby Brooks Jr. The worst thing? Barnaby has the same NEXT powers as Kotetsu - the Hundred Power, a power-up that makes enhances all their abilities a hundred-fold for the span of 5 minutes. Can Kotetsu and Barnaby learn to work together? Can Barnaby discover the truth behind his parents’ murder?

T&B is exciting with great characters and a breath of fresh air for anime fans that have been long tired of being fed the same tropes. So go watch it and join me in my cry for a second season!

Akagami no Shirayukihime

So, let’s say you’re a fairy tale fan. What if I told you Snow White is a herbalist who flees her country to escape the unwanted attention of a spoiled prince, only to fall in the graces of a better, handsome, kind and brave prince who offers her a place in his own country, where she can hone her abilities and use them for good?

That’s the premise of Akagami no Shirayukihime, or Snow White With The Red Hair. If you’re a fan of romance, this is a huge treat. Not only is Shirayuki an icon - telling princes off, doing her own thing, refusing to accept bullshit, but Zen Wisteria, her prince, is so dreamy, exactly the kind of prince you’ve ever wanted to meet. The sweet development of their relationship and Shirayuki’s ascension inside the court is a treat to see, and every character grows inside your heart. This is a must watch.

This is growing huge so I’ll just drop some titles for your consideration now lmao. I stan every single one of them 💕

Aoi Hana (girls loving girls, in the most realistic, human way)

Barakamon (conceited adult makes a huge mistake and is thrown off to live in an island and repent; there, he befriends all the islanders and, especialy, the children)

Chihayafuru (hitting cards off the floor is a sport, and it will make you cry. Trust me on this.)

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju (discover the almost lost art of rakugo, an entertaining form of story-telling, and the lives that have been touched by it)

Gourmet Girl Graffiti (cute girls bonding over food. I’m especially targeting @justonehappyvictory)

Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth (cute Japanese girl in France!)

Kids on the Slope (highschool kids learning to deal with loneliness through jazz)

Lovely Complex (tall girl falls for short boy and they’re the most idiots ever, send help)

Maria Watches Over Us, or, as it’s popularly known, Maria-sama Ga Miteru (not as gay as you’d expect, beautiful bonding between girls)

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun (you’d think the most popular shoujo author is a woman… but it’s a high school boy who barely displays any emotion?? Gender roles reversed at every corner! Absolutely hilarious)

My Love Story!! (big guys who look threatening but are sweethearts can love the cutest girls, why not?)

NANA (two girls with the same name meet and share one of the most profound relationships. Do you want to cry? I cry.)

Nodame Cantabile (anime! jdrama! kdrama! enjoy the musical dorks in every media possible!)

Princess Tutu (the fairy tale that will change your life)

Tamako Market (adorable girls and a talking bird being silly in a big market)

The Perfect Insider (a good thriller anime that is so hard to find)

Your Lie in April (yup, this one will make you cry too)

Tennessee Doom Quartet WYNDRIDER Drop 3rd Single From Fuzzy Debut

Woah, bless my soul I'm gonna lose my mind

Hailing from East Tennessee, WYNDRIDER bring from their own soil elements of blues, smokey jazz, country & western, and rock 'n' roll, grafted onto a doom machine that's as heavy as Windhand, fuzzy as Hazemaze, with much love given to Black Sabbath.

There's something about this music that just sets me right. This is especially true when I'm listening with headphones and the mix can really surround me with the experience.

Having given us a good ten-minute window into their forthcoming self-titled LP with the tracks "Pit Witch" and "Creator," the band now reveals the seven-minute “Space Paper/Acid Saloon” en route to the album's release next week.

WyndRider describes the track this way: “A shootout between warp speed reality and the mesosphere of your mind, 'Space Paper/Acid Saloon' puts the psychedelics back into psychedelic music. Take the paper and blast off to the hazy realm of truth and color. Just don’t forget where you left your shoes.”

A dank, hazy opening theme emerges amidst rattling cymbals and mysterious strings. Chloe Gould's vocals are relaxed with the vibe, but carry a graver message. "You're wrong if you think they will spare you," she intones ominously. Meanwhile, the guitar is swampy and radiant with fuzz, with an almost Pentegramesque tone. That's appropriate for a song about druids and elves. The scene ends in a haze, the blurry notes suggesting that maybe it was some uncanny dream.

Look for WyndRider to emerge March 31st on CD, vinyl, and digital formats (preorder here).

SOME BUZZ

WyndRider is a four piece, female fronted Stoner Doom band from the mountains of East Tennessee. Joshuwah Herald (bass), Robbie Willis (guitar), and Chloe Gould (vocals) began the formation of this band in October of 2021. Richard Bucher (drums) joined the fold in February of 2022 and we played our first show on March 31, 2022 at the Hideaway in Johnson City, TN.

With only one single available online since the beginning, we have moved leaps and bounds, booking in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and around Tennessee. We had the privilege of sharing the stage with names such as Caustic Casanova and Book of Wyrms at Holler of Doom II Festival in London, KY, and Dizygote, Lung, and Gaffer Project in our hometown of Johnson City, TN. We returned to London, KY this fall to play a second festival- Mountains of Metal 7, and Lexington, KY for Revenge of the Toker Day Fest.

Our first self-titled album, WyndRider, was recorded in late September by Danielle Fehr from The Wizard Productions. The recordings are the most raw, natural sounding form of our songs that we were able to capture in a studio setting, while still emulating the energy of a live performance. Bands such as Black Sabbath, Steppenwolf, and Budgie inspired our take on a continuation of heavy and psychedelic music. The themes of this album are a culmination of subjects such as apocalypse, alien life, the Satanic Panic, and sarcastic dissection of the Christian Church. It portrays a new version of the physical, biting addictiveness that Rock and Roll inspired for another generation.

1. Lee Joon Gi ☆ LJG is so talented and soooo silly, this handsome bastard and goofball has my heart for better or worse. (Srsly, 2019 was rough - is he an idol or a jiu-jitsu athlete???) His voice also does things to me. I need him to hit drama gold because his career deserves better and he should be getting more role offers. I'm not sure if Flower of Evil will be that drama, just because of its genre, but at the very least the role will be something refreshing. And if you see my friends and I roasting him - we drag him because we love him. ♡✧( ु•⌄• )

2. Lee Ji Eun (IU) ☆ The more I discover about JE, the more I kick myself for not being a fan sooner. She's gorgeous, brilliant as hell, and so goddamn funny. Seriously, I adore her sense of humor. Let's not forget her angelic voice! She deserves all the success that has only been climbing to greater heights year by year. Also, I may or may not have a weakness for her legs step on me, Ji Eun!!!.

3. Hong Jong Hyun His looks fit my taste perfectly, lmao. I will enjoy when he gets a lead role again, and not just a main role where he plays the other side of a love triangle. Mother of Mine doesn't count.

4. Xiao Zhan This may come as a surprise since I don't often post about him (which I guess is true for my other crushes that aren't JG or JE lollll), but I love him muchly.

5. Yang Yang The first drama I saw of his was actually The King's Avatar, haha. I watched Love O2O afterwards and enjoyed that too. I can only hope his hair has finally grown out of that buzzcut he got for his military drama filming. (╥﹏╥)
