Thoughts of a terrified watcher trying to convince her self that it’s okay to trust this show and let it do what it wants with my heart but failing miserably. This is about the eighth sense which I won’t even speak about on a podcast until it ends because of how on edge it makes me. But this is how I am convincing my self this week that we’re in good hands and we will survive and it will be a happy ending, delusional much? Yes, does it start with a foreshadowed drowning and this man Jae Won looking lost and hurt in a therapist office? Yes but see, i choose to ignore that, and focus on a positive way it can work. And that’s by knowing the producer and director’s way involved in this show. 

The eighth sense is produced and directed  by Where Your Eyes Linger director like he’s great at Angst and sexual tension and that’s why I feel pulled to it, add in the realism aspect and different feelings to his shows like To My Star, so I’m not surprised I’m into it. I’ve been wanting a show with the same  level of angst and tension like WYEL, the playing along the lines of what are we? is one of my fave things to witness between two people, and  a spark so real and obvious it makes the audience also feel breathless and attracted to it too.  I’m very scared that Eighth sense may be more painful but like WYEL had a chance for a sad ending during when we watched it in fact it had a very painful seperation before their reunited as long as the drowning has already occurred in the past (Jae won’s brother) we should be fine we may get a very painful separation

But hopefully the end point is healing (the therapist room) and finally opening up and embracing the fear of his past which you can tell Jaewon avoids. I'm hoping that’s what this is  Guys I can’t have his brother be hurt and also Ji hyun who can’t swim die at the end. For what? I know it’s not BUG but it’ll still make me upset and stress me out the way those endings do,   I’ll trust Inu for now because I wanna know what his vision is, what his story is for this, it just seems like another show that discusses mental health in an interesting way and characters that are both on their own path to self discovery and acceptance of their weaknesses and strengths (TMS, WYEL) with each other. Angst but still overall a happy message right ? Ignore me I can tell this show really might be it for me but if I have to suffer to make a show it for me it’s like why? I just wanna escape into something safe despite the pain and angst. My heart is too fragile to deal with ruptures. 

Topics like these leave me on edge cause of what people want to say with them, if it needs to be emotionally and poetically devastating (I’m always on the other side of no it does not need that message for every piece filmed with this amount of effort and thought) so I’m on edge.

Then again Inu ain't sleek. i also sense he and his german director were influenced a bit by SKAM? like that also has some interesting themes that can be found here, IH, and the struggle with queer discovery, hidden trauma and reactions/perspective of mental health, tension, controlling/suspicious ex girlfriend,  lack of control vs embracing fears and so much more.... that also has a soul shattering painful angsty separation that then later has an outcome of healing and happiness and acceptance.  look i like to lie to my self by following patterns and I really am beginning to believe  I’m safe here with this show for now. I see Skam, I see remnants of WYEL themes, and I even see TMS  so I’m going to stay  calm and wait. Okay i think I've convinced my self for another week. Directing choices in later romantic scenes reminds me of Skam too, the connection to music in an interesting way, the intimate scenes, but I know things are coincidence, but surely with all this information we’re closer to this path than the other one right? Right? Well I’m goanna be looking for more signs on my journey with this show that I’m not being had, and it won’t end sadly with the death of this boy. Like why? what would be the point his character arc don’t seem to be about that either, like it’s about self discovery and doing more with himself, but I don’t know either way just know I’m on edge and this show has me spiralling cause I want to be obsessed and write and scream about it in just two episodes, my gut is making me think it’s the show for me but not if it leads me to a slap of  realism or whatever sad endings are used for. I just can’t.  I forgot he also has like been part of the production of Handmaiden’s so see, another angsty show in which the queer couple survives and makes it see??? I’m not crazy... Follow the patterns... okay maybe i’m spiralling I refuse to believe hes not producing another queer positive narrative I refuse...

❣️ Don’t Say No - sorry if I can’t shut up about it but I’m obsessed lol; LF’s chemistry is phenomenal and the plot is super interesting. They’re not shying away from anything, everything is raw and real which is 👌🏻. Also communication hello? These guys are actually talking to each other about their insecurities - something I haven’t seen since Cherry Magic lol. And not just the mains, but also the other characters probably have the best communication I’ve seen in a bl. A+++ ❣️ PitchBank (Golden Blood) - I had to put them in here; I haven’t had second couple syndrome since RamKing lol but how could I not I mean?? They’re so lively and hilarious and no offense to SunSky but they stole the show for sure lol.

❣️ Check Out - Episode 0 was unexpectedly good, I really liked their chemistry and the filming style is really nice. It sucks that we have to wait until next year for the full series but if it’s anything like this episode then it’s definitely worth the wait. I love it!

Gook woke up in a cold sweat the next day. He glanced at the clock and saw it was only 4 a.m. He got out of bed quietly, grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat on his forehead and went to the kitchen to get some water and calm himself down. After drinking a glass of water, he sat on the couch and considered just sleeping here until he had to get up in the morning. It was only another three hours until he had to get up and make breakfast anyways, he reasoned.

Tae joo was always bothering him ever since they were young, he always disregarded Gook’s boundaries, teased him constantly and kept pestering him for years. But, at least Gook was able to equalize their power dynamic through their sparring matches. It was the only time he felt that they were on equal ground. He kept replaying Tae joo teasing him about not having any dating experience and teasing him about making his heart flutter and he got angry again. Gook wondered somberly if Tae joo knew or he was just being an asshole and just baiting him for a reaction. He lied down on the couch, put his hand over his head and closed his eyes. No, there’s no way he could have known, if he did… Gook wasn’t sure he could remain by his side.

Tae joo was like the devil he thought ruefully; beautiful, seductive, and impetuous and constantly creating trouble. He always had a personality like quicksilver – dynamic and ever changing. He could be happy one minute and angry the next without even a moment’s notice. Initially, he tried to make a note of his emotions and tried to act accordingly but he quickly realized that it was a futile effort. He was too unpredictable – his emotions brought with him a storm that always swept Gook away. Gook was losing his ground, recently he wasn’t able to keep his ground as Tae joo continued to wreck his life with his tempestuous playfulness, his smugness and his clingy-ness.

Tae joo’s neediness was like a sweet poison. It brought with him the one thing Gook couldn’t afford – hope. It was only present for a brief glimmer of time before Tae joo stumped it out. He wondered at times if it was deliberate or unintentional, but he knew it didn’t matter either way. He remembered seeing Tae joo and that girl last night and replayed the scene in his mind over and over. Gook felt himself losing his grip, just like when he unintentionally hurt Tae joo during their sparring match. He needed a lifeline. He needed to keep his distance before he got swept away again and ended up drowning.

Gook opened his eyes and got out his phone from the room quietly, careful not to wake Tae joo. He came into the sofa and saw the text exchange with Hye-Mi. Saturday when Tae joo was getting tutored, he thought. He could do it he tried to convince himself. Hye-Mi was straightforward and steadfast. She could help him stay afloat – maybe even become his lifeline. He considered texting her but thought better of it considering it was 4:30am. They weren’t that close… yet. Maybe he could fall for her he thought. Maybe.

hey bro! how r u? am here today to ask ur thoughts on wyel. i might have set the bar high and now i expect a lot haha from what i've seen - and given the fact it's korean - i wouldn't erase the possibility of a bromance. but bro am i going to kill someone if they don't gimme development,, at this point i can even deal w bromance only, but i hope they won't villainize the woman and make everyone jealous. we only got 80min, give us fluffy and a well written woman character :'( - emo sis

bro, btw, there's something on my mind recently. i remember some time ago u said it would be nice to brightwin to step back from being sarawatine (smth along those lines). at that time i wasn't sure i knew why, so i just kept the info. now, after seeing brightwin and bright only 2gether reaction w jennie i am thinking bout how much they love their characters and also how close they are. i feel like win drew a clear line; he often said "tine, not win" to reinforce THAT was his character.+

on the other hand, when bright was alone he didn't seem to mind about drawing lines. he would say he was sad for wat, then he would explain what wat's feeling. if someone asked "why did u [wat] do smth" he would not draw a line as to say "i'm not him". maybe bc he doesn't care bout how others perceive this, maybe bc this is clear enough for him. nway this got me thinking, what was it that made u say they needed to step back? what details did u observe? /emo sis

hiiii my friend! i’m doing okay, how about you? so first off, where your eyes linger. i really think it’s a good show so far with the limited amount of screentime, the characters are all likable and well-written, the chemistry between the boys is off the charts, and the scenes are all well shot! honestly, it wouldn’t really bother me if it was “just a bromance” because as you said, all i want is some character development and a well written woman character. so far i’ve been liking her and i think this could go in a good direction, i don’t have too many expectations or anything, but i do think this show is very well done so far in terms of production and acting alone. we shall see how it goes, however!

and yeah, i did say that! i think i mentioned that i hoped bright specifically could take a break from being sarawat, although i definitely do think win could also benefit from trying out other roles generally. i think the big difference is in the fact that you already pointed out--win tends to separate himself and tine a bit more than bright separates himself from sarawat, leading to win being a bit more detached from tine when he’s not actively playing him, which can lessen the emotional toll it takes on someone once they need to bid farewell to their role. the thing about win and bright is that their characters are very similar to them, and these roles are their first breakthrough roles. i don’t think anyone could have predicted 2gether’s fame and success, no matter the polarised opinions on the finale. 

so, it makes sense that they get attached to their characters, and i think win is a bit more clear about the separation of himself and tine, which is why he always refers to tine as “he” and not “i” as bright does sometimes and as many other actors do. however, the reason i said that is because of the fact that win and bright are just so... similar to their characters. it can be good, because it’s easier to access and portray certain emotions, but especially in bright’s case, it can take a huge toll on the person. bright, for example, always gets into sarawat’s character really quickly, and you remember that one breakup scene where he almost cried at the thought of sarawat and tine breaking up? yeah. it affects you deeply and it becomes hard to separate yourself from the character, especially when they’ve changed your life in such a pivotal way. he’s also mentioned in jennie’s reaction video to the finale that sarawat taught him how to love a man, essentially, and that both sarawat and tine led him to the realisation that he couldn’t necessarily call himself straight. he also truly knows sarawat down to the bone, thinking about aspects of his character as well as his emotions pertaining to specific tine-centric scenes. these are all signs of an outstanding and empathetic actor, but when a character you play gets so much international recognition and has changed your life in exceedingly personal ways, the lines start blurring. win has realised this in some way or another, i think, and i believe he’s also taking a step away from tine. i just would like for them to spend some time away from their characters, because they just are so similar and it’s too easy to lose yourself in that, take it from personal experience. this is not to say that sarawat and tine have been bad for them in any way, or that they should never play them again. i think the boys could benefit from a good break before settling back into their roles if necessary.

those are just some of my baseline thoughts on that, generally! i hope this could provide some kind of insight into why i think that. i hope you’re doing well! <3

And omg yes! You're making my life so much better asking me the question I'm dying to talk about so heads up cause I have thoughts!

I was excited beyond belief and had so many ideas on what the show would be like from the teasers and none of them were right, NONE of them! I expected the same angsty but gorgeous and deep feeling that wyel had and we all know that that was NOT the case. But gosh the absolute cuteness and overwhelming ease of this story left me smiling through most of the episodes. So yes I really enjoyed it although some things did irk me a bit, like the switch between the soft and cute scenes to the downright violent ones felt a bit quick at times. I generally didn't like how rough the gangsters and even Jin Won were to Sang Ha, I mean I have almost officially adopted Sang Ha so I am obviously biased and angry at anyone who hurts the baby! When it comes to Jin Won I guess that roughhousing is something I generally don't like unless it's clearly playful and fun so that might just be me, but I really agree with everyone else's reaction on him hitting Sang Ha, it was too much and just unnecessary.

Also I really feel like this storyline would have been so much better with more screen time!! Sang Ha's and Jin Won's development, which tbh is the part that we all came for, could have had a much more natural flow, and also been so much more interesting because we would have understood the characters and their choices better. One thing they got right was Sang Ha's and Jin Won's dynamic! Cause it's amazing and just imagining them in a slow burn fic with a lot of awkward moments and slow realisations and sad pining they both think is one sided makes my fingers itch!! (I have a short oneshot in my drafts that I might finish if I feel self-indulgent enough tho)
