I love the concept of 1940s Billy since he was created in 1939, and grew his fame from being a part of WWII propaganda. I just love when that part of him is explored, which sadly is not enough.

In honor of Tessa Connor, half the main cast of Silhouettes, who is very much having a birthday today, I thought I鈥檇 post some less common WWII propaganda posters! Later in the series, Tessa鈥檚 job becomes more involved in production of visual arts for the war effort; here鈥檚 a sampling of the kinds of things her work might entail or be derivative of.

Fun fact: some air bases in England apparently got around the risk (and administrative penalties for commanders) of VD spread by just bringing in girls the doctors had already checked out (Source, a book on combat airmen in WWII by John McManus). Some of the more prudish generals were not thrilled with this, but the airmen approved and it kept morale high.

So you know this poster, right?
Tumblr media
I just learned that it was a WWII propaganda poster.
Anyway, what really strikes me is that her back arm doesn't seem to be in proportion. The upper arm is too long and the shoulder is a bit too low. Her body in general seems to be out of proportion. We really shouldn't be able to see much of her back arm, it's way too low.
Does anyone else see it? Or is it just me being dumb about anatomy?
