WWE Money in the Bank 2020 Results: Otis an Extremely Risky

In a whimsical brawl inside WWE corporate headquarters, Otis unexpectedly won the men's Money in the Bank match. Otis won the briefcase in a fluke as he caught the case successfully after Baron Corbin and AJ Styles fumbled it up. Otis' win is a much-needed one on his way up for a star as WWE looks to use the Money for its originally intended intent in the Bank briefcase. Following a fast start, where Money in the Bank was a near-infallible platform to solidify up-and-coming stars at a main event point, in recent years WWE has been coasting on its credibility. Money in the Bank's last three male winners — in Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, and Baron Corbin — either struggled to cash in the briefcase effectively, or they were top-star Brock Lesnar, who preferences Money in the Bank was not equipped for. With two veterans on this year's field (in Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles); two former champions (in Baron Corbin and Daniel Bryan); and two up-and - coming babyfaces (in Otis and Aleister Black), the 2020 field was equally split into three distinct trajectories. And what classification will reflect the winner has been more than evident. Aleister Black, who Baron Corbin eventually threw off the rooftop, showed great promise in the bank holder as a potential capital. Given the proven track record of WWE taking its time with the rising star, probably at fault, Black made seemed to be ripe for a star-making win and running with the shortcase. Black's one-sided victory drive dates back to last year's February, with the dark and brooding character piling up squash match victories before securing this year's milestone win over AJ Styles with The Undertaker's support. Longevity is one of the major constants among successful Money in the Bank winners. Among the bank's most highly coveted runs of money, most, if not all, saw the winner carrying the briefcase for nearly a year. Having that in mind, there might not be a better time in the bank's winner to be an up-and - coming Money than right now. Drew McIntyre, who is in the middle of the unusual move where a modern-day babyface is made to look strong, has gone all in on WWE. With WWE having no plans to take off him from the WWE Championship anytime soon, particularly during the coronavirus era with historically low ratings, Otis could become the first Money in the Bank winner since Seth Rollins won the briefcase in 2014. Otis, given his current, though rising, position as a midcard comedy act, would be an interesting choice as Money in the Bank winner. Otis definitely is not of the contemporary Money type in the Bank winner as a comic character has never won the briefcase in his past. Damian Sandow, who reimagined the briefcase as a leather substitute, was the closest comedy thing to a character earning Money in the Bank in 2013. Still, the character of Sandow had been booked to be taken seriously at the time save for a nice line or dumb elbow. Given his possible restricted ceiling as a big star, Otis has shown well as being a potential top babyface through a combination of tangible charm and actually being strongly booked. Otis won 72 percent of his matches in 2019 per Cagematch.net, and should his winning ways persist alongside a long run with the briefcase, there is no reason he should not be able to progress from comedy acting to top star.
