Last night's 100th poll special winner was Jasmine Silver Needle
Aromatic and intoxicating, both when the needle is dry and when you bring the cup to your lips to take a sip. The jasmine flavor itself is more subtle on the palate, and the tea is very smooth. Now...since this tea won in a prior poll (#70/71) I got creative and added rose petals. This...is heaven in a cup. I could drink this every day. Jasmine aroma and subtle essence, with rose blooming and lingering on the palate. My gosh. I'm lost for words at how amazing this is. I'll do this again with a stronger jasmine sometime. And then make boba milk tea out of it. Also don't worry, I'll bring back those other jasmine options soon!
Tonight's teas:

Thanks for helping me get rid of the tea. :)

"Classic Da Hong Pao/Big Red Robe" from Wuyi Star
Dual-purpose post showing off my new silver teacup from Crimson Lotus Tea as well as the "Classic Da Hong Pao/Big Red Robe" from Wuyi Star through the MyTeaPal club. (Geez that's a lot of brand names, I promise I'm not endorsing anything..)
Tumblr media
First off, look at this cute packaging! I actually have a few DHPs from different vendors in unique packaging, so I think I'll try them all over the weekend using the same set up, compare and contrast, then use all the packaging to create a spread in my tea journal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tea itself was exactly what I'd expect from DHP. Rich and earthy, a hint of spice and dark fruit notes. Brings to mind rich soil after a forest fire. The very first full leaf tea I ever tried was actually a DHP from my local tea shop, who's family owns a small farm near Wuyishan, specializing in oolong and black tea. It's still my go-to whenever I want something warm and comforting after a long day.
Steeping: 7.5g/100ml nixing pot, 5s for the first 3 infusions, then added 5-10s for each additional steep. 9 steeps total. Color started out a deep red color then mellowed out to the orangey-red pictured above and was consistent throughout.
Overall, 3.5 stars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's some closer looks at the cup. I got it mostly because I wanted a nice cup for more low-key sessions, and I love the way the silver enhances the color of the tea. It feels very solid and weighty in the hand. Interestingly enough, I noticed the outside of the cup gets very hot to the touch, but the tea itself still loses heat at around the same rate as my porcelain tea cups. This is not a complaint, just something interesting I noticed.
I'm excited to try out some more; be on the look out for a new tea journal spread soon!

Tasting: Pine Sap Lapsang
Tumblr media
Lapsang Souchong.
A tea not well known to the common western tea drinker. But for those who have come across it, having tasted it or just smelt it, it’s an unforgettable tea for better or worse. This tea is one where I find you are either love and adore it or you flat out can’t stand it. No real middle ground!
I myself happen to fall on the side of those who love it. Lapsang is a staple in my collection. The malty and smokey leaf is always on hand for drinking and cooking. And so this past boxing day when putting together a final order for 2021 from White2Tea, I decided to try some of their variations of the classic tea.
Tumblr media
Besides hailing from Wuyi in the Fujian province of China, in normal White2Tea fashion, not much else is known about this tea. Leaving totally up to my taste buds to uncover it’s secrets.
Through the session it was clear that is Lapsang was very different from your everyday variety. First apparent on the dry leaf was an incredibly savory profile of smoked meats, tangy BBQ sauce charred wood and burning charcoals. Sweeter notes appeared on the wet leaf, with a deeper, more intense smoke yet still not overpowering, dry charred wood and hickory.
The brew is thick and viscous. The traditional smoke is present, but not the main character. Besides smoke the first thing I noticed was an unexpected vegetal flavor like peas and carrots, charred pine wood and a lovely finish of woodsy musk. The second infusion revealed less vegetal notes and more of a richer grain like barley and a sweetness of pipe tobacco.
The aftertaste coats the tongue with a savory sweetness and a lingering taste of barley and pine smoke. after six infusions, the tea became even sweeter with a nice balance of smoke without it being overpowering or underwhelming. A Lapsang that went from tangy and meaty, to sweet and savory to woodsy and vegetal and finally to sweet and smokey, it performed unlike any Lapsang I’ve had before. I have another Lapsang I purchased on deck and can’t wait to see how it matches up to this one.
5 stars!

Hmmm....
Tbh, I really want to talk more about FoodFan aside from my ikemen shitposting/reblogging lol so I decided to answer all of the questions in the Food Fantasy ask meme hohoho. Please forgive me tho, I recently came back and I kinda miss posting here. 🤣😂😅
FOOD FANTASY ASK MEME
Questions:
1. When did you start playing?
• August 2018
2. Who was your first UR?
• Foie Gras, not because of the new player rewards though because she’s still the first UR that I summoned 😅
3. Who is your favorite food soul? Favorite ship, if you have any?
• Escargot my sleepy son for my favorite food soul 😄💤
• Favorite ship would be Steak/Red Wine and Cloud Tea/Sweet and Sour Fish 💕
4. Who is your most powerful food soul?
• Hmmm.. This is quite hard to answer 😅
• Well, Crab Long Bao has the highest soul power in my whole list (and he’s also my strongest tank). Strongest magic FS would be Pizza, Turkey for strength FS, and Somen for Support FS. 😄
5. Do you have your dream card? If so, how’d you get them? If not, how much have you tried for them?
• I have 3 dream cards
• First is Pizza. As soon as I discovered that his VA is Hiro Shimono, I KNEW I HAVE TO GET HIM (that’s what I thought to myself lol). Pizza event was the first time that I spent in foodfan. I was aiming to get his skin as well but ranking’s hell af (even in the re-run). 🤣😅
• Second is Mapo Tofu. BEST GIRL. So imagine the dread that I felt upon learning that her event’s the same as Pizza. But I wanna get her so I said to myself that her event will be the last one I’ll spend real money on to. 😩😭
• Third is Nagashi Somen. When I first saw his design in Suki’s post ( @ff-sukinari-daiginjo ), me be like: IKEMEN HUSBENTO ALERT!! Quite surprised at first that he’s a Support soul though (and he’s related to Raindrop Cake). Luckily, his event’s easier compared to other UR events (thank the Heavens)!!
6. Do you read the stories?
• I used to but I got lazy later on lol. I can only remember the stories of Escargot, Foie Gras, Steak, Red Wine & Gingerbread. 😅
7. Favorite Fallen Angel?
• Inugami!!
8. Are you pledged to any food souls?
• HAHAHA of course! It’s quite a long list bro. 🤣😂
• URs: Crab Long Bao, Nagashi Somen, Foie Gras, Pizza, Boston Lobster, Cloud Tea, Turkey, Mapo Tofu, Wuyi Da Hong Pao
• SRs: Steak, Escargot, Sushi, Opera Cake, Cassata
*inserts a long list of soon-to-pledge food souls lol*
9. What food soul do you most want to have an English VA?
• None
10. Do you participate in events?
• Yes! Though after Mapo Tofu event, I stopped spending because events are getting harder and more complicated. 🤣😅
11. Do you have any 5-star souls?
• Yup!
• URs: Crab Long Bao, Nagashi Somen, White Truffle, B-52, Bamboo Rice, Peking Duck, & Foie Gras (basically the ftp-friendly URs lol 🤣😂)
• SRs: Steak, Escargot, Black Tea, Vodka, Sweet Tofu, Mooncake, Laba Congee, Sanma, Salad, Red Wine, Hamburger, Sushi, Yuxiang, Yogurt
• Rs: Jiuniang, Tom Yum, Milk, Coffee, Long Bao, Orange Juice, Plum Juice, Sashimi, Dorayaki, Taiyaki
• Ms: Cheese, Rice, Almond Tofu
12. Do you have any skins besides ascended ones and default ones? If so, how’d you get them? Which one is your favorite?
• Uh, well, I have a lot of skins. I managed to get most of the skins obtainable via bingo/deliveries. Then the team-up skins of Milk/Jiuniang/Omurice. For skins via story events, I only got Steak/SSF. Then the skins obtainable in the store (that’s why I was able to complete Café Satan in their respective skins).
• Favorite skin would be Crab Long Bao’s skin (but I’m salty because I wasn’t able to get that TwT)
13. Do you spend real money on the game? Would you for your favorite soul?
• I mean, I already did lmao (see question #5)
14. If you could summon any food soul in real life, who would you summon? Why?
• None lol
15. Chinese, Japanese, or English voices?
• JAPANESE definitely!!!! 🤧😍
• The voice actors are actually one of the reasons why I got hooked in FoodFan (some of the VAs here are also VAs on my other fandom, which is Ikemen Series) 💕
16. Least favorite soul? Why?
• Eh? I can’t think of any. ;_;
17. Who is in your display case on your profile? Why?
Tumblr media
• Escargot, CLB, Pizza, and Turkey are my sons 😄🤧 (smiling Crab tho huhuhu must protect that smile uwu)
• Steak and Somen are my top husbentos 😍💕
• Honestly, 6 SLOTS AIN’T ENOUGH AS I WANNA ADD MORE SONS (Lion’s Head, Bonito Rice) AND HUSBENTOS (Cassata, Opera Cake, Wuyi Da Hong Pao) 😭🤣😅
18. What level are you?
• Lvl 105
19. Do you make teams based on power or how much you like the food souls?
• The former (based on power/skills/utility)
20. Do you make fanart? fanfic? What have you contributed to the fandom, show us!
• Sadly, I am just an ordinary talentless potato fangirl trash who hasn’t contributed much to the fandom except from being a silent fangirl and dumping my money to the game (well before, at least) loooool 🤣😂
That’s all for the Food Fantasy ask meme UwU

☕ RIZZO TEEEA
Tumblr media
[The story goes that the tea was created during the Qing era when the passage of armies delayed the annual drying of the tea leaves in the Wuyi Mountain. Eager to satisfy demand, the tea producers sped up the process by drying the leaves over fires made from local pines.]
The flavor of the tea is very smokey like fine cigars or whiskey, so a bit of star anise is added to curb the bite and add spice. Fruit on the side would be a good tang to pair with the smoke.

Aurora, 5/1/21
Cliff Wulong Tea from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province.
Old tea bushes, grows slowly, typically pick starting April 23/24/25. Don’t pick in the fall. Low yield.
Scarlet Robe is the iconic wulong tea from the Wuyi Mountains. Mao gave Nixon Scarlet Robe. It’s quite possible that Aurora could have been the iconic tea of the Wuyi Mountains.
Bamboo and mushrooms are very abundant in this area.
Two ways that it’s processed, written about in poetry:
To accentuate the aroma of the leaves and liquor
To encourage drinkers to fall faint from the enormity of the flavor
Process: Pick to final point is end of April to August, much longer than the 36 hours of processing for the tea we had last week. Go to market starting September. Sellers may wait 5-6 months before putting it on the market. It is so big and astringent at first that the other flavors are overpowered. In China, generally this tea is rested until Chinese New Year.
Wither less than typical Cliff teas because they don’t roast it as heavily. Roast it for a lot less time. This one is roasted three times like other Cliff teas but the timings are so much shorter than it is a light roast.
Scarlet Robe has more roasting and the fruitiness is less apparent.
This tea has a higher percentage of caffeine than typical Cliff teas. It also has beneficial levels of Zinc.
There is just enough minerality to identify the tea as a Cliff tea. Both John and Xiaobei taste hints of pineapple.
6g is needed for each cup, making it a more expensive tea than some others.
Brew Style: Clay covered for 2 minutes.  Second cup covered for 1 minute.   Ceramic covered for 3 minutes.  Second cup covered 2 minutes.
Cherry as usual has the most acute commentary: “sweet arome like pineapple but flavor does not taste so as one can expect; instead it reveals just a hint of sweetness around it's light but full minerality. other flavors  of chocolate and coffee come out too with each sip”
“this tea brings such a pleasant surprise that commands one's attention allowing the opportunity to be in the present moment. amazing how a tea can do that!“
Has an underlying robustness.
Last week John shared that because of the pandemic many Chinese with money (> population of the US have real money in China) turned their attention away from travel and to refined goods. Rich Chinese are buying up the best tea more than usual. Chinese government is also buying premium tea and is invested in maintaining the tea industry in the Wuyi Mountains. Giving tea to reward people. Tea as a NFT (Non-fungible token) like blockchain. Is this a bubble or is it a real thing? John’s view back in 2018 was that young Chinese people were moving away from tea toward coffee and coke, there has been an effort to get young people back into tea. Pandemic helped with that. Without the ability to go elsewhere and try different things and with the PR boost from the government and science boost, interest in tea in China is on the rise. Govt now has an inherent idea that maybe the other aspect of emphasizing tea is that we can make the population healthier.  China is facing diseases of abundance and privilege, obesity and diabetes are cropping up with increasing frequency.
Wulongs tried at home
Impenetrable - love this one. Perhaps a bit more subtle/complex than Polestar. Finished it at end of August.
Volcanic - also love this one. It’s powerful on the palate in a slightly different way to Polestar and still gives that satisfying aftertaste on the tongue and throat.
Empyrean - love this, very satisfying, more au tale than apple star, perhaps not so strong a punch as Volcanic, very drinkable, everyday tea

DaHongPao/Big Red Robe
from Wuyi Star, Tea Drunk, and Music City Tea
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tea Journal spread, tea session photos below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall thoughts: Wuyi Star was my favorite of the bunch, and Music City Tea is only rated above Tea Drunk because I personally prefer the rich and earthy taste of the former two to the bright and floral taste of the latter. From a more objective perspective, Tea Drunk has a stronger flavor than Music City Tea (though Tea Drunk's pricing is still outrageous, but that's just my opinion...)
I'm willing to bet there's a da hong pao I'd like even more somewhere out in the world; let me know if you have any reccomendations!

Hebei Hengshui Wuyi blind road stone welcome customers
Li County Mushroom Stone charges, Baima solid surface suppliers road stone consumers should pay attention to the anti fouling performance of the polished tiles, and there are also many precautions: consumers can knock the tiles with their hands or hard objects when purchasing. If the sound is very clear, like the sound of metal knocking, it means that the ceramic tiles have high degree of porcelain and density, good internal quality and high hardness; if the sound sounds like knocking on wood The sound of the brick shows that there is a crack inside the brick and there is a quality problem. As the ceramic tile is to be laid on the ground, people will step on it for a long time. If the hardness is not high, the floor will break. You have already known some shortcomings of marble. You may have wanted to give up using marble, but it is difficult to give up the fine texture and quartz stone tile supplier atmosphere of marble. In fact, these defects are only found in natural marble. Now, there is a substitute for natural marble -- marble porcelain brick, which has the lifelike texture and texture of natural marble, and its color is rich in variety And the price is usually lower than that of natural marble. In addition, marble tiles also have high hardness, strong wear resistance, high bending strength (not easy to break), low water absorption (strong anti pollution), easy processing, not fragile, small color difference, stable and convenient supplyManagement and other advantages. Granite silicon spot: in the stone surface, it is in the form of lumps and dots, with brushing traces. The color is thick and bright. The dripping water drops on the polluted part and does not disperse. It is the result of oxidation and coloring of waterproof agent after concentration in the stone area. Silicon spots have strong water repellency, and cleaning is more difficult than other stains. Kvd-05 can be used to wet compress for 24 hours, which can penetrate into the stone, decompose and completely reduce. If the ventilation conditions are good, the heating wet packing method can also be used to speed up the cleaning. Granite water spot: on the stone surface, the cement pollutant diffuses from the stone joint (crack) to the surrounding. The matte and stain change from shallow to deep with the weather dry and wet. The dripping water disperses and flows on the polluted parts and the stone surface deepens. The reason is that the stone is not well protected, and the cement minerals at the bottom of the stone are dissolved by water and the stone surface is blackened. Kvd-06 wet compress method can be used to remove 12 hours, conditional wet compress time can be longer, the effect is better. marble is easy to be stained, so it should be cleaned with less water, and then regularly wiped with a slightly wet cloth with mild detergent, and then wiped dry and polished with a clean soft cloth to restore its luster. Although the hardness of the marble cabinet is better, it should also be noted at ordinary times, so as not to let the hard objects and the corrosive liquid contact the marble cabinet table top, so as to avoid the damage that is difficult to repair and affect the beauty. Generally speakingSaid that the cabinet marble table top price is multifarious, but the cheaper is also from several hundred yuan to 1000 yuan, this depends on, what kind of marble is used for cabinet countertop, as well as the brand of marble countertop. Many times, manufacturers sell marble table top and cabinet as a whole. From this point of view, the price will be higher than buying marble table top a great deal of. Most of the time, people are used to buying marble table top to install on the cabinet, which can not only save capital, but also decorate the kitchen according to their own ideas. If you only buy marble table top, it will be affected by its size. Moreover, artificial marble table top is much cheaper than natural marble table top. How to deal with the bonding of broken stone: first of all, the fracture surface of stone should be cleaned up without dust and particles, and the fracture surface should be kept dry and free of moisture. If possible, a high-pressure air pump should be used to clean up the active fragments. Then, adhesive should be applied on the fracture surface. The coating should be even and not too thick, and then butt joint immediately Press tight. Make the adhesive overflow slightly. It should be noted that the plate must be cleaned first, and then the glue is prepared, otherwise, the glue may be invalid. For the thick plate with thickness of more than 2cm, the vertical bonding is the best, that is, after bonding, the stone is vertically erected, and the self weight of the stone is used to adhere firmly, and some supports can be made to place the stone vertically. When bonding, the upper plate can be gently knocked with a wooden hammer or rubber hammer, and a little pressure is applied to make the joint as small as possible. For 1cm thick thin plate, it is better to stick flatLay paper on the whole platform, place the stone to be bonded, apply glue on the fracture surface, and immediately butt and squeeze. After the glue is hardened, the next process can be carried out. Marble (alkaline): the mineral composition of Dali stone is simple, easy to process, most of the texture is fine, the mirror effect is good, but the natural texture is very rich. Its disadvantage is that the texture is softer than granite, and it is easy to be damaged by hard and heavy objects, and light colored stone is easy to be polluted. Try to choose monochrome marble floor. 2. Granite stone (acid): Granite stone has no color stripe, only color speckle pattern. The characteristic of the pattern is that the grain is small and uniform, and there are many star like mica bright spots and glittering quartz crystals. The finer the mineral particles, the better, indicating that the structure is compact and solid. Now in the home decoration, marble is often used. According to some studies, although natural marble is beautiful, there is radiation phenomenon, so many people are worried that artificial marble will also have radiation. For man-made marble, the material it produces is mainly made of natural marble or granite crushed stone as filling material, cement, gypsum and unsaturated polyester resin as adhesive after mixing, grinding and polishing. Therefore, from the point of view of material suppliers, these do not contain radiation. In addition, when selecting materials for production, the radiation is also subject to strict testing, otherwise the workers who produce artificial marble will not be able to bear it.
