So I was thinking about the horrible mess that is Teen Wolf, as one does, and got to thinking about werewolf lifespans. Seeing as they are notoriously hard to kill, werewolves would be more likely to survive car accidents, apparently cant get cancer or other terminal diseases, and are barely affected by knives and bullets. So how long would the average werewolf live? Seems longer than the average human, being apex predators with magic healing abilities and all.

Let's say, then, that a werewolf averagely lives to be 150 before dying of old age. In which case, their most common cause of death would be hunters. A group of people who know specifically how to kill one and do so out of some misguided necessity. Some hunters are self righteous, morally bound hotties like Chris Argent, and some are holier-than-thou douchebags like Kate Argent, who believes killing a werewolf before it can kill others is the right path.

This then leads me to think that whole families of werewolves must be killed all the time! The larger the group of werewolves, the bigger the threat to the normies, and the thought of having four or five generations of wolves collectively living together? That's just dangerous! So the Kate Argent type hunter would view it as their civic duty to wipe them all out before they can wipe out a whole town or country or whatever. Before they form their own power, like the mafia or republican government. Werewolves would know this, that hunters had this fear and that they posed less of a threat the smaller their packs (as well as have less of a chance of being discovered and/or outed). So wouldnt it then be advised to have less children? To further your chances, and your packs chances, of survival? Or maybe they'd be more cutthroat in their pack maintenance, like hey, Jimmy, you're not aligning with the Alphas politics and/or behaviors, get out so that the pack has just that much more likelihood of surviving hunters.

And then theres Tahlia Hale. Had at least 3 children, was herself one of at least 2 children, living in a single house with at least 10 other pack members, expecting everything to be good because she has the greater numbers. Tahlia, knowing that larger packs are just as likely to be wiped out by hunters as a lone omega is, saying fuck that and having multiple babies and encouraging the rest of her pack to do the same (except maybe Peter cuz shes a bitch like that). Does she hide this knowledge from her children? Or was Laura and Derek and Cora all aware that they are especially tantalizing targets to the hunter community and are more likely to lose the pack in its entirety than just one at a time?

And how would that knowledge have affected other aspects of the show, affect Derek in general?

Just thoughts.

case in point: Alonso talks to the rest of the fam about Aubrey aaaaaall the time to the point that they all start to Catch On. He works up the courage to invite her over to hang out one day and Paz is like “oh he has a friend how wonderful” but Del is bound and determined to do everything in her power to embarrass the shit out of him, as sisters do. So at some point she pops in to the living room and drapes herself over the armchair and is like “heeeeyyy what are you two doing all alone in here ;)))))))” and Alonso’s all “stop being dramatic omg wtf go away you’re so embarrassing!!!” but Aubrey gets...... Flustered seeing her laying across the armchair like that and thus begins a puppycrush on Del, and an enthusiastic response whenever Alonso asks if she wants to come hang out- which he’s certain is because she likes him- which is totally fine by him because he likes her. Meanwhile Mattie is upstairs wrapped in a custom knit Sadness Blanket and listening to Lorde songs

Del and Tahlia realize whats up Instantly and Tahlia’s like “LMFAAAOOOOOO BABE YOU’RE BALLIN’ YOU’RE A CHICK MAGNET” and Del is like “I AM AND I FEEL BAD FOR IT”
