WTD Drabble - Troy x Saeed

For @moodmusicmonday’s Luck of the Draw. My draw was Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion.

Warnings & A/N: Didn’t got too literal with this song prompt but love the idea that my Saeed would find stupid and not so stupid things for Troy when out scouting because gift giving is his love language and he would definitely want to do this because Troy surprisingly chooses to love him each and every day. Anyway, I’ve not finished WTD yet as I just picked it up again and I’m only on chapter six, so forgive any errors in canon compliance.

He looked out over the gardens, thriving in the late summer light, and counted the garden gnomes that dotted the rows of vegetables. Silly little things that brought a smile to his face each time he discovered a new one.

It had been a joke between them at first. Saeed asking Troy about them when he saw a faded and torn ad for them in an old gardening magazine. And Troy telling a story with a fond smile on his face about his neighbor maybe having some from back before. Slowly, week by week, and month by month Saeed found new ones to joined the ranks among their garden at Olympus.

Anything to see you smile, Saeed had said to Troy.

He glanced at the book in his hands, flipping it over and chuckling at the cover. A cheesy sci-fi series that was missing books two and five with the most gaudy cover on it that looked little like what the pages contained, but that he enjoyed nevertheless.

Book one had been his father’s from before the end of the world. It was the only thing he had of his family any longer. Books three, four, six, and seven were lined up in the bookshelves of their bedroom.

A fond chuckle escaped him as he thought about the little inscription Saeed had placed in each and everyone them upon giving them to Troy.

Anything to see you smile, Saeed had said.

So many little gifts that meant so much to Troy. If they talked about something from back then, Saeed made sure to find it or at least have one of the other scavenger teams keep a look out for it.

Hand held video games that didn’t work anymore, and he would never be able to play but in his imagination as he mimicked what he had read they sounded like. A fun game of make believe. Fashion magazines that meant little to him, but whose glossy pictures of people in absurd clothing and ridiculous looking hair and makeup in the most unnatural of colors, fascinated him. Comic books, crosswords, word searches that once would have been used to pass the time on road trips now found their place in a large basket in the corner of their room for this lazy rainy nights spent before the fire.

What must the world have been like back then? they would always ask each other and imagine.

Rather dull without your smile, Saeed always concluded.

The sun dipped below the tree line as he looked out at the perimeter patrols, barely visible in the growing dark.

They should have been back by now, he worried the corner of his lip. His mind wandered to places he knew he shouldn’t let it. But the past always seems to come haunt you in those moments of weakness. He didn’t understand why Saeed was insisting on going along on more of those scavenger excursions and that too worried him.

He shook his head free of those nightmares and climbed into bed with his book, reading until the light faded along with the words.

It was later than they had planned on returning but the chance for those farm tools had been worth the risk, Saeed sighed as he entered the still room.

He took the book from Troy’s hands and set it on the nightstand and pulling another two from his pack, placed them atop his father’s copy. He climbed into their bed, lying on his side, head resting on his arm, as close as he could get without jostling Troy so he could watch him sleeping.

Softly he caressed one of his exposed shoulders, tracing random curves on Troy’s skin in a gentle attempt to let him know he was back.

“You’re late,” Troy mumbled.

“Yeah,” Saeed smiled. “Took a bit of a detour on the way back from the city, but it was worth it.”

Troy opened his eyes.

“And before you ask, yes, everyone is safe and sound back here.”

“Good,” Troy replied with a yawn. “What was so important?”

“Farm equipment we can put to use. Some spare parts. Good stuff. Now go back to sleep,” he whispered and placed a soft kiss to Troy’s head.

“Did you get everything we needed from the city?”

It had been a dangerous trip venturing into territory that was as infested as cities tended to be, but the supply list was desperately needed.

“Yeah, we did. Even got a surprise for you too,” Saeed grinned.

“You need to stop risking that,” Troy scolded but smiled at the possibilities.

“Never!” Saeed scoffed. “It’s worth it to see you smile.”

“Don’t be stupid. My smile isn’t that great,” Troy said and flashed him a devastatingly perfect smile.

“Don’t give me that. You know exactly what that smile does to me. And you know I can’t actually see you smiling right now, right?” Saeed laughed.

“Ah but I know you are remembering just how perfect a smile it is,” Troy said and Saeed could hear the pleased smirk.

“Go to sleep.”

“Only if you give me a kiss,” Troy said.

After fumbling and laughing in their blind attempts to find the others lips, they settled into each others arms. Saeed listening to Troy’s even breaths as he feel back to sleep.

“There’s nothing I wouldn’t risk for you,” he whispered.

Flex Legacy Gen 5: Love at Last and a Love Lost

Leo asks Sullivan out for a date at the new Bistro in Windenburg. Things go well and they have an after-date at the Dorthy and Friends Bar.

So well they end up taking it back to Leo’s place.

With no time to waste because they wasted enough time skirted around each other as teens, Sullivan pops the question.

They decided to get married on the renovated top floor of the Dorothy and Friends Bar.

A great time was had by all. Even Sullivan parents who felt the romantic vibes in the public toilets

The next day, Aaliyah aged up and tried to pursue a serious relationship with Lilian Bailey-Moon. But unfortunately Lillian is salty with her because she didn’t invite her to prom. But it’s not Lilian’s fault prom was on the same day as her brother’s wedding.

Lillian then has the nerve to invite Aaliyah to that one exclusive celebrity bar in Del Sol Valley, knowing Aaliyah is not famous enough to get in. Aaliyah tries to fight the bouncer to gain entry but fails.

Still Aaliyah tries to make things work with Lillian and proposes to her and they elope on the spot.

Unfortunately after their bedroom celebration of their new love, Aaliyah ended up with a WTD and divorced Lillian. Shortest marriage ever. We can’t all be Kenza and Lia from the Tate Legacy.

Things go for bad to worse when the family dog, Murphy who ran away, returns, but briefly dies afterwards. The family is devastated, but you know what could cheer them up? A new science baby! Welcome to the family Serena Dupree-Flex!

Saving the dead x welcome to dreamworld universe swap

I know there will be many who are new here so for context: saving the dead is an original webcomic I’m working on where earth has been destroyed by aliens but the humans who lived there became ghosts and now live on the ruins of the earth

This is a universe swap I did with saving the dead and welcome to dreamworld so the animatronics you see on the first image are based off the main characters in the comic and I basically imagined what kind of animatronics they would possess and in the second image you see most of the dreamworld cast if they “lived” in the apocalypse and were ghosts in the comics style

(On the third slide you see Winnie and the main villian of the comic Alaric bonding cause they will be besties if they knew eachother)

I tried my best to match the animatronics to wtd’s style and I hope I did good (also I’m not too happy with Robyn’s design because I knew I wanted them to be inspired by Rex but they came out too similar) also I wanted to draw loli and pop and the triplets as their alive verison but the number of characters was already overwhelming for me and I had to draw Alyssa and Mike cause theyr my favs

Hazelnut tree: What's the alison in this au like? I would love to see his dynamic with more characters and we know he ends up with hazel. I wonder what his rule following personality would look like next to winnies moral roulette wheel.

Scaly secrets: You said some of the cast were dragons? Which ones!? And what colors. Are they all the same kinda dragon or different styles?

Cryptic Dreams: Is everyone a cryptid or are some of them hunters? What are some ways they avoid the hunters using their cryptid abblites?

Superhero: what are their powers? Understandable if you haven't got that all figured out yet. Superheroes are hard. So i'm also going to ask are they all heroes or are some of them villains and vigilantes. 

Post cannon au: Who shares rooms? How many bunk beds? Or do they all get their own room?

Mixed marriages: Where did you get the idea for the kingdom names you wrote about in the snippet you posted?

Robotic fantasy (I LOVE EXTRA ANGST): I noticed we are in a lot of the same fandoms so what other fandoms exactly are being thrown into the mix here? And what's your favorite duo of a WTD character partnered with a non WTD character?

I'm sorry if it's a lot of questions I have a lot to ask! Hearing about cool stuff like this always inspires me! Gets me thinking you know? They just all sound so cool! Hope you don't mind the length!

Salty I am so fucking happy you don't even know, this is my favorite ask ever I couldn't even imagine this!!!!!! I don't mind the length the length lets me ramble about my ideas which I need to do!!!!!!

Hazelnut tree: Allison would probably secretly tag along with Hazel and Night Light, and therefore ends up talking to the whole little group that's building. Allison would hate Winnie before his redemption due to helping Litho so much. After Win's redemption though? They'd probably get along relatively well, helped by the fact that I'm pretty sure their related, and at the very least they are in HNT.

Scaly Secrets: Currently the dragons consist of; Sara, Wiatt, Carly, Mike, The Triplets, and Winnie! Sara is dark pink, Wiatt is blue, Carly is light pink, Mike is orange, the Triplets are their respective animatron main colors, and Winnie is purple. Kept the color choices simple. Currently I don't have any great ideas on designs/abilities for the dragons, but I'm working on it! (They're all technically dragon shifters btw)

Cryptic Dreams: The cryptids are all the animatronic possessers (minus Eric who has a different deal going on) and Sara and the Twins. The main plot revolves around Wiatt, Damian, Celio, and Oliver thinking all tge cryptids have been taken by cryptids since they don't know they are the cryptids. So they team up with actual cryptid hunters to find them. Carly is also in the team to try and keep everyone from finding out about the cryptids while also stopping them from getting hurt. They use their abilities in a lot of ways, mainly to trap the hunters.

Superheros: Decided to answer both at once with a list, not everyone had powers decided on yet. A lot of them use the animatronic names as alter egos, and those who don't have. Kinda bad names lol.

Heros: Starlight (Lewis)* [????? And Specialized Telekinesis], Glory (Alyssa) [Water Manipulation and Siren Song], Rex (Mike), Ribbon Dancer (Ribbion Dancer)

(*depends on where in the plot they are)

Post Canon: As a general rule, all couples and young siblings share a room. So we got:

Mixed Marriages: The kingdom names cam from me translating a word relating to the character who's a royal in that kingdom into Spanish and Russian before mushing them together and making it look and sound like a kingdom name.

🍌 In your opinion, what’s the funniest joke/reference/pun you’ve made in a fic?

Oh, gosh, this one is difficult to answer as I try to infuse humor into a lot of my fics. It's usually built into conversations and often involves somewhat inappropriate topics and sarcasm. lol

I'm having trouble thinking of specific scenes, but some fics did pop into my mind. Toy Story, where Tobias & Casey end up at an adult toy store on a date when they're a relatively new couple. It's full of a lot of little laughs.

In Proper Movement, Casey is getting rid of a flirtatious new neighbor at the door when he can't take a hint. She says, "I need to go; I left something turned on in the kitchen." When he says, "Oh, pot on the stove?" she replies, "No, boyfriend on the floor." Tobias breaks out laughing from the kitchen. IDK, I love that, lol

I like Candyland because it's a 2 part fic - it shows Tobias/Casey and Ethan/Kaycee as parents - I love the contrast and the humor they inject into it. (In Ethan's, it's more his paranoia creating the humor, lol).

50 Shades of Ethan was one of my very first fics, it's a crossover with some characters from TRR and TNA, and it involves going to see a 50 Shades movie where David Gandy is the star.

A text fics that comes to mind are Christmas is Gonna be Awkward... - honestly, this is about Casey/Tobias accidentally sending his MOTHER pictures meant for each other. Honestly, anything with Vivian is fun too.

I think my favorite funny fics are with the guys - Tobias & Ethan and, in my WTD world, Troy & Eli (OMG, I just realized they are both T & E lol!)

Boys Night Out , The More Things Change are some humorous fics in OH land, and in my WTD World, you can get snips of Troy/Eli humor in Accidental Friendship and Tension.

🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?

I'm not particularly fond of AUs that are TOTALLY out there. Like, Open Heart is taken over by aliens, and the doctors turn into werewolves. lol I tend to prefer AU's that just deviate from the story - but aren't totally out there.

Digitized Dreamworlds and Forgotten Memories - Chapter 2 - Chaotic Introductions

Wiatt stared in awe at the sights around him, the tent being way bigger inside.

The top of the tent was miles above him, the yellow, and blue stripes spiraling above him.

The center pole holding the tent up had a pattern of as-of-yet-unknown characters dancing. Wiatt didn't know what to say or d-

"HELLO!"

Wiatt yelps and falls back as a purple pegasus with big-clippy-like eyes appear in front of him.

"Welcome to the Amazing Dreamworld Circus! A place of wonder, oddities, and adventure!"

The Pegasus says, a text box appearing next to him

Wiatt slowly got up, as the Pegasus kept talking.

"I'm Winnie, a virtual assistant designed by Sara to help you out with anything. Just say my name and I will appear to help you out!"

Winnie said as Wiatt got back on his feet.

"Okay uh…can you leave, please? You nearly gave me a heart attack."

Winnie smiled and nodded.

"Oki-Doki!"

Just as he suddenly appeared, Winnie disappeared with a pop.

"...Great, this game has a Clippy."

Wiatt sighs, looking around the tent some more.

He soon found the rules sign, handing up near the entrance.

Rules for the Circus!

Number One, do not exceed a playtime of 5 hours per session.

Number Two, do not change something in-game without Sara's permission.

Number Three, The AIs in this game are not people.

Number Four, any door colored red leads to unfinished parts of the game, don't go through them.

And finally, Number Five. Have Fun!

Wiatt reads the sign, taking note of the first four rules.

"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"

He says, walking through the tent. Looking around and generally not paying attention to where he was walking.

"Out of the way!"

"Coming through!"

"Wha-"

SLAM!

Wiatt is crashed into, sending both him and the two voices to the ground.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! Today has been so hectic and-"

"Lolli look! It's a new guy!"

Wiatt finally sees who is talking to him. A strange clown-jester hybrid with two lollipop heads, one Pink and one Blue.

The Pink half had clown-like accessories, like a fake flower, colorful sleeves, red polka dots on his shirt, and a blue tie wrapped around his head.

While the Blue half had jester accessories, like a jingling hat, striped clothes, a mask that she currently didn't have on, and a pink tie around her head.

Both though had a bit of the other color in their clothes, like Blue Polka dots or Pink bells.

"Someone new?!"

The Blue one (presumably Lolli) seemed surprised.

"Hello, good sir! Our names are Lolli-" The Blue one started.

"-And Pop!" Finished Pink.

"Uh…hi! Nice to meet you two, I-I'm Wiatt." Wiatt introduces himself nervously, still recovering from the fall.

Pop giggles a bit. "Nice to meet you-er, bump into you, Wiatt."

Pop says, presenting his pink hand to shake, smiling a bit. Wiatt shakes Pop's hand.

"So I'm taking you two are uh…lollipop clowns?"

Wiatt asks.

"No no, Pop is the clown and I'm a Jester. Sorry to have you mistaken." Lolli says, shaking her head.

"I-It's fine. Do you know where a map is?"

Wiatt asks, looking at the curtained doorway Lolli and Pop came through.

"There should be one here in the lobby, and in every tent of the circus." Lolli says as Pop gets a gleam in his eyes.

"Maybe we can give you a tour of the place, maybe play some games as well and party too, and-" Pop kept talking very excitedly.

"Sorry, my brother is a bit…excitable."

Lolli explains.

"I-It's fine, I…can see why he's a clown."

Wiatt says, laughing a bit.

"N-no offense Pop."

Pop stops talking and chuckles as well.

"None taken! Everyone here says I'm quite the handful."

"But not as much as the three little acrobats."

Lolli says with a chuckle as well.

Wiatt adjusts his glasses, blinking a bit.

"Well…mind giving me a tour?"

He asks.

"Yes!"

Pop says excitably, tapping his half's foot.

"Sure, we don't have another act in a few hours so we might as well."

Lolli added.

"Th-Thank you."

Wiatt says, glad it wasn't too much trouble.

"No problem! We're always glad to have new people to play with and talk to!"

Pop says with a big grin.

Wiatt smiles too, glad to have someone to talk to, even if it's just an AI.

"Lead the way." He says ready to go.

"Alrighty first up is the beach!"

Lolli says, going through the doorway they came out of, adorned with a mural of the sea and beach.

"The…beach?"

Wiatt follows, a bit confused by the idea of a beach in a tent.

One book I haven't seen mentioned that I really loved was Wake the Dead. I think that Crimes of Passion Book 1 has been PB's best offering in recent years. (BOLAS is good too, just not my cup of tea.)

As Angela said, I'm still dumb enough to be here! lol I am mostly active in Open Heart. I write mostly for Tobias x Casey (PB did that man wrong lol) but also Casey x Jessica (OP) - a past relationship, and some Ethan x MC (Kaycee) too. I also write CoP and WTD for now.

Other's I'd recommend that I don't think I've seen mentioned yet are @thosehallowedhalls (various books), @dutifullynuttywitch (BOLAS & WTD) and @petalouda85 (BOLAS) are all lovely and talented creators.

hi, i’ve been gone from the choices fandom but now i want to get back into it. can you tell me which books that have come out over the past couple of years i should read and rec some people to follow who’re still active in the fandom? i’m asking you because i trust your opinions haha

Okay, I take your trust very seriously, so this is about to get very detailed lol

I’m going to divide the books I recommend into two tiers:

Tier I - Books that are must reads: 1. Blades of Light and Shadow, book 2: Depending on how long you’ve been gone, you’ve probably already played the first book. The second one is emotional and frustrating and amazing, and ultimately a good continuation of the story. I can’t wait for book 3!

2. Crimes of Passion: It’s a murder mystery with compelling characters that are extremely lovable, and the dynamic between the two main characters is exactly the kind of dynamic I love in every iteration. The mystery itself is better in the second book than it is in the first (of course, these are all just my opinions) and I have high hopes for both what the characters’ arc is going to be in book 3 and what the mystery is going to be.

3. Immortal Desires: I don’t know if you like stories about vampires (like Twilight), but even if you don’t, you’ll probably still love this book. It has a mystery in both books too and has two of my favourite love interests. Book 2 is currently releasing on Fridays and I look forward to it every week!

Tier II - Books with parts that could’ve been better/were unsatisfactory, but that are still 100% worth reading: 1. Murder at Homecoming: This is a personal favourite of mine! I think mystery is a genre that Choices does really well, and this book is one of their most diverse and inclusive. All of the LIs are bi (like, they actually say it and have conversations about it). This book would be a must read for me if it weren’t for the fact that one of the biggest mysteries is left unsolved.

2. Kindred: This book is so fun! I love the bond between the sisters, they’re all complex characters and Kaine is one of my favourite love interests as well.

3. Guinevere: I don’t usually like historical fiction and fantasy, but this book is an exception to that. If you love Liam and Drake from TRR, this book has characters who are similar to them and have similar dynamics with the MC!

That list has a lot of people that aren’t really active anymore, but I’d recommend following them anyway because they have amazing fanfiction/art that you should check out, or are just really good people. I’d also recommend following these people who aren’t on that list: @lover-also-fighter-also (they’re active, post about different Choices books, and seem really cool), @moominofthevalley (they’re active, and post mainly about Crimes of Passion, so of course I follow them lol. They’re also very friendly), @aria-ashryver (they’re active, post mainly about Immortal Desires, and seem very sweet!), @mvalentine (they’re pretty active, post about different Choices books and seem super fun), @raleighcarrera (they’re kind of active, and write the most beautiful fic), and @argylemnwrites (they’re kind of active, and write Drake x MC fic that’s so in-character it’ll be forever ingrained in my brain).

I’m sure I’m forgetting some people, but those are the ones I can think of right now!

I will forever be salty over Hopper's character assassination in ST season 3. They built him up from this man who doesn't really care much about himself or what happens in hawkins because of all his trauma to a dependable and emotionally vulnerable father figure to El and a friend to Joyce just to throw it all away for a shitty attempt to pay homage to the '80's.
