Giving a reassuring nod to her Pokémon, Diantha awaited the moment her name would be called. It was her first contest, and she was definetly nervous- but now that the time was here, she could feel the excitement grow.

And there it was. The announcer called her name, and the lights went on.

First up was Sintel, her Blaziken, and the one to persuade her into joining the contest in the first place. Diantha had carefully brushed her hair into a ponytail, looking healthy and shiny. Tied to the galaxy hair elastic was what looked like a dress scarf made out of breezy, slightly transparent cloth. The ends were tied to her wrists with bracelets that matched the hair elastic, and it was long enough to not hinder any ofher movements. But the real star of this outfit was the ball gown-like skirt, big and flowy. While designing the outfit, Diantha wanted to make sure that the fire-fighting Pokémon would have enough room to move and let out heat, so she let the front part open. The many, many glitters on the purple skirt shimmered in the lights of the spotlight, creating the illusion of a nightsky. And to top it all of, there was a headpiece in her ponytail, consisting of several silver stars attached to her hair, shimmering in the light.

Next up was Cerebella, the Gardevoir. Her outfit looked a lot like Sintel's, but with a few differences. First of all, there's no ponytail. Instead Cerebella is wearing a choker, to which the dress scarf was attached. Second, the skirt was slightly longer, with a short train behind her, and the front part closed off with the same breezy material that was used for the dress scarf. Of course, being a Gardevoir, Cerebella already wears a dress, but with some help of a hidden underskirt this skirt was made poofy enough to not constrict the fairy-type. The rest of the outfit matched Sintel's perfectly, including the starry headpiece.

And last but not least, Diantha herself walked onto the stage. Being the only one wearing a full dress she had managed to not stand out too much when compared to her Pokémon, even if the skirt of her dress was made up of layers and layers of the material she used for the dress scarves her Pokémon wore. Her short sleeves were made of the same material, and she wore matching bracelets and a headpiece attached to her long, loosely braided hair.

The three of them came to stand in front of the jury, and twirled in a pirouette, making their skirts fly up slightly as they twirled around their bodies, shimmering in the lights.

June’s WSF Dress Up

She put a lot of thought into these outfits... hopefully it paid off!

“Let’s go.” Steven grins hearing his name called. He rubs the Iron Leg Pokemon with the back of his knuckles. “Let’s just have some fun.”

The dyed and spiked hair is a throwback to Steven’s Hot Topic modeling days. A time he rather not talk about, but he’s decided to embrace his past for the event rather than hide from it. He repierced his old ear piercings. Two along the side of his ear and one on the lobe. He adds a fake eyebrow piercing with two lip rings.To top it all off, he wears heavy black eyeliner done flawlessly. 

His black leather jacket is adorned with small silver spikes along the collar and sleeves. The fingerless leather gloves also has a single row of spikes and an opening at the top of the hand. The black belt is studded with a chains and a skull. Steven’s torn dark gray jeans have seen better days.

The silver Metagross has been temporarily painted a darker color. The previously gold cross now a crimson matching Steven’s shredded button up top with a button or two at the top left unbuttoned. To complete the outfit, he wears black strapped leather boots.

Kenny’s Team Dressup.

Kenny was all done in the dressing room, ready to show off what he and his Pokemon will be wearing for the appeal. He didn’t sweat the dressup too much, there was no need to put pressure on his Pokemon for this. The real show is the appeal, but that wasn’t to say that they wouldn’t have fun showing off their formal wear as beauty entrants. 

Kenny heard his name be called, so he walked on out to the stage. 

“Let’s show the world how great we look!” Kenny told his Pokemon to get them pumped up for the night. 

He wore mostly black attire. His shirt was white, but mostly hidden due to the black dress coat. The dress coat was buttoned up, with visible dark blue buttons. What you saw from the white shirt was the shirt collar around his neck and space down his chest to show off his black bowtie. The other part of the shirt visible were at his wrists, showing the white cuffs. The cuffs were pinned by two gold pins. On the right sleeve was a golden Empoleon pin; on the left, a Corviknight pin, each to represent the two Pokemon he’d be using in the Winter Solstice Festival. 

Entering the beauty category, he kept his pants fairly conservative and they were black to match his dress jacket. He also wore a black belt with a golden buckle. 

He did long socks, sporting at the end of his legs, and they were dark blue. The black, blue, white, gold colors were intended to match his Empoleon, and showcase how strong of a bond they have. 

His shoes were black dress shoes with white laces. The shoes were actually ice skates made to look like shoes, something Kenny plans to showoff in his appeal. 

His Empoleon sported a black bow tie on the front, and wore a monocle on his right eye. On the back, he was covered with sequins, outlining his back, down his legs and around his flippers and tail. 

Corviknight wore a top hat. Like Empoleon, he also had some sequins outlining his enormous wingspan. Aside from his wings, the sequins also covered the bird’s chest in the shape of a dress tie.

she’s a bit nervous about the color scheme like her mun is, but nonetheless, she’s hopeful!

Dress Up Results- June

Bun-Bun was thrilled to see another Lopunny onstage, but she was also casting a critical eye upon her fellow rabbit. She had high standards for Lopunny, obviously... and so did Cheren.

“Interesting, these small appeals in the dress up round. Like a taster of the future appeal... I just hope you haven’t pulled out all the stops nor used all your ideas before then. It’s nice to be surprised by an appeal. Though this was very well done.”

“I admit, the idea of a fairy tale retelling seems a little more Cute to me than Beauty, but the categories do overlap quite a bit. In any case, Berry’s final gown was very pretty, as were the other outfits. They certainly helped sell the story, and I think it was familiar to everyone in the audience. Though I have to admit there’s something a little familiar about the last bit...”

Cheren glanced at Bun-Bun who held a paw to her lips and let out a rabbity giggle. She too had been reminded somewhat of she and Cheren’s appeal their own first year in the competition.

“But I digress... I award you 85 points in the dress up round. Very solid.”

Winter Solstice Dressup

Elijah had dyed his white hair red, along with his eyebrows as well- it simply look a bit odd having them white with colored hair. He also put his new red locks in a tight ponytail. This year, he opted not to cover his scars with makeup, and instead let them show. It seemed to fit into the “tough” theme, after all.

The classic kilt he donned was much comfier than he had imagined. No wonder the warriors in Galar’s past wore them- they were easy to move around in. Speaking of which, having his non dominant arm free and sleeveless also seemed to help with mobiliblity. The Wooloo wool on his other arm was warm and flexible, and his leather accessories kept the sleeve properly in place as they also offered protection.

Really, the only complaint he had was that his sword was heavy, but it wasn’t as if he were going into real battle. Still, maybe he should have gotten a prop sword instead of a real one. Live and learn.

Noel’s outfit showed both defense and offence- her armor colored to seem as if they were extensions of herself, but they were in fact metal. It was light though, it was only show armor after all, so she had no trouble holding herself up. She had been resisting the urge to headbutt something, anything, with her horns on her helmet, but that’d hardly be appropriate. On her left side, she had small sword and sheath attached to her kilt, which should would be able to take out with her mouth, like that one dog legendary in Galar. They did have a Galar theme going on, after all.

Dress Up Results- Zoey

Both Cheren and Bun-Bun were rather speechless. Of course Cheren, being the well-read nerd that he was, understood just what Zoey and her team were going for— and he was mightily impressed. Bun-Bun, who knew nothing of human history, was far more focused on the mini-appeal and the elaborate costuming. In any case, all aspects of the dress up were fully appreciated between the two of them.

“I... I have to admit... It really is astounding to see the monumental effort put into this round. So much research! All the intricate details, all the information displayed for the sake of the audience, all the symbolism and extra showmanship...”

“I can’t really fault it myself. It’s astounding what you’ve been able to do. And your Pokemon are clearly very invested in what you’ve pulled off. I can see where they had their own input... which is also important. First and foremost, their personalities should be shown. And I think you’ve accomplished that wonderfully.”

“And so, due to your absolutely fantastic efforts... I award you 100 points in the dress up round.”

Dress Up Results- Steven

“Hmm...” Cheren looked over Steven and Metagross’s ensemble critically. Bun-bun was rolling her eyes at her trainer, never quite trusting him to do this bit correctly. “I admit, this particular style seems more like it would fit in the Cool category than the Tough category, though there is a lot of overlap in both. What with the spikes and all... I suppose it has a sort of biker feel to it.”

“There’s certainly plenty of detail... but I worry that more focus has been put on the trainer than the Pokemon. Metagross should be the star first and foremost, and I feel that, while they look rather striking with their alternate coloring, they almost feel like a prop for Steven and his lovingly embellished ensemble. However, if I look at Metagross alone, they definitely look intimidating... which is what the Tough category is all about.”

“I award you 65 out of 100 points.”

Dress Up Results- Elijah

“Right, well...” Cheren had to force himself to lower his raised eyebrows, admittedly shocked by his fellow judge’s vicious scoring. As somebody who consistently wore very feminine jeans and still felt very secure in his masculinity, he found he couldn’t agree at all with Fabien’s summation. Alas, he didn’t think any score he gave would be enough to help Elijah in the long run without a pure miracle. ...So he would simply call it as he saw it.

“I admit I’m partial to the Tough category, and I found your take on it to be wholly unique and creative. I dress my own Stoutland in tartan in the winter...” He neglected to admit that it was more because he thought it was cute than because it made Tam look like an old Galarian warrior. “I’m impressed by the historical research put in and think it might very well overlap with Smart... though many categories often do. Noel looks ready for battle, as prepared to defend as to attack... which makes her rather formidable. I worry some of the spikes are a little much... but they certainly match Noel”s natural coloring, simply enhancing her form, which I appreciate.”

“Honestly... I’m truly impressed by it. I award you 95 points out of 100.”

Dress Up Results- Diantha

“Well, it’s certainly something that would be at home in a ballroom, isn’t it? It’s nice to see you all matching without all wearing the exact same style of dress. I especially like Sinal’s style. Designed with her comfort in mind, it also shows off her natural beauty— that of a battler. Which I appreciate, preferring battles myself. I do wish Cerebella’s outfit showed off something unique about herself as well... but her natural features were used to bolster her skirts. There’s a nice simplicity to these outfits. Understated, yet eye-catching. The little details that bring it all together are very nice— the headpieces, the bracelets, the scarves.”

“Perhaps it’s a little safe to go with a starry theme for the Beauty category. But it’s a safe choice for a reason... it’s always sure to be very pretty. Which it is.”

Cheren turned to his Lopunny to gauge her own reaction, checking to see if she agreed with his summation. Bun-Bun was enamored by all the stars... but she managed to shake off her star-struck expression long enough to nod to her trainer.

“Right, then. I award you with 88 points out of 100.”
