DPXDC CFAU Headcanon: Ghostspeak Edition

Ghosts in the Infinite Realms who saw Jason and Danny together called them "luzdra", a term in ghost speak that directly translates into the words "shared soul". It's literal definition is; "two ghosts with a bond so deep that it was as if they had split their souls in half and given one to the other", but in general it just means two ghosts with a profound, indescribable bond.

Luzdrus is the singular form of the word, and refers to only one ghost in the bond. While "luzdra" is plural and either refers to both of them together, or the relationship as a whole. It depends on the context of the conversation and who they're saying it to.

There is no romantic, platonic, or familial connotation behind the word. It just means "someone who shares a deep bond with someone" and can be between anyone.

It also does not mean soulmate, and if you say that you'll be corrected. Soulmates implies that their bond was destined by the universe, luzdra are two people who developed and built that bond themselves. It's a relationship forged between two (or more) people.

Some of Danny's rogues -- like Kitty and Johnny, who might've seen the two together and are possibly luzdra themselves -- still call him 'luzdrus' even after Jason's disappearance from the Zone. Danny doesn't know how to feel about it.

Even after all the redecoration is there still a nagging feeling of something missing? Where is the man who touched your waist as he passed behind you? The melodic voice in the other room on the phone with the contractors? He's gone and yet you wake up at dusk still expecting to see him asleep beside you. You'll always remember how you reached for another in the night, the unguarded expression of peace on his face he never quite replicated in wakefulness.

Ghost Writer is literally the Ghost Writer in your head

So! This is just a quick Post so I can jot down a new Headcanon of mine.

Ya know how we have Ghosts that represent concepts? Like how Clockwork represents Time, and Nocturn represents Dreams, and we headcanon Undergrowth as the Green from DC?

Well, Ghost Writer is a representation of the Voice in your head that narrates everything you write. From Full Length Novels to Comments on a YouTube Video, every time you write you narrate it in your head, and that is what Ghost Writer is.

And another Headcanon? Ghost Writers Library, his Haunt, is an extension of his Being. Meaning, that Library is an extension of every voice in every person's head whenever they write something.

Meaning, his Library holds a copy of Everything Ever Written.

Looking back, there's actually more symbolic foreshadowing for Whiteknight than I initially realised in the dance arc in V2. When Jaune goes to ask Weiss out, intending to follow Phyrha's advice about cutting out the bravado and just being honest about how he feels, he's holding a white flower to give to her:

But he then sees Weiss asking out Neptune instead, and realising she has someone else she's interested in, he drops the flower and leaves.

Essentially the flower represents his romantic interest in Weiss, but also a potential future of a relationship between the two based on mutual honesty and respect, (following Pyrrha's advice to just be yourself) instead of the false selves they project and initially see the other to be.

After this scene of dropping the flower he stops with his attempts to ask Weiss out altogether. Him dropping the flower is him dropping his romantic interest in Weiss, instead focusing on just being a good friend and looking out for her (convincing Neptune to go talk to Weiss because he knew it would make her happy).

But we see this flower transition into this vase, drooping and wilting at the dance:

...followed by a frustrated Weiss trying to perk the same flower up:

Which seems to foreshadow Weiss later on being the one to take a romantic interest in Jaune in V9, and also being the one to support and reassure Jaune when he's at his lowest:

Which does in turn seemingly cause that potential budding flower of their relationship to grow and bloom again, just as the two of them have been growing into their own true selves over the course of the series.

And I just think that's pretty neat.

When Bruce first meets Daniel Fenton the first thing that catches his eye is the soul mark on his arm. It's familiar, hauntingly so, and Bruce's heart squeezes uncomfortably at the sight.

The last time he saw it was before his second son was buried.

Bruce takes Danny in-- he would have done so regardless, seeing the state he arrived in. Injured, scrawny, and hiding far too many things for a kid barely into high school. He knows very little about where the kid came from, only that he flinches too easily and trusts too rarely.

Danny is never a replacement for his second son, but Bruce can't help but feel that something of Jason lingers in the manor, knowing that the soulmate he never got to meet is safe and well-cared for.

Bruce keeps this son safe. (Not even a son-- not formally per Danny's request or his comfort-- but a child Bruce will fight through Heaven and Hell to see safe, no matter what Danny thinks of his placement in their household.)

He won't ever see that mark buried again, not in his lifetime.

Danny doesn't speak about the faded soul mark, and Bruce never acknowledges it. He knows one day he'll tell Danny about Jason, but not now. Not when the kid is still hurting (and he is too). He can only hope Danny will forgive him for his silence.

Only... the soul mark itself does not stay quiet. It wakes one day, filled with color as though it had never left. Perhaps a bit greener than Bruce remembers it, though there all the same.

Danny is in shock. Bruce can hardly swallow down his own as he finds his feet moving, every muscle tensed and every nerve frayed as he prepares to check the cemetery, not knowing what he'll find there.
