Daiki knows he's being stupid. A real idiot for the way he feels.
It's just a piece of fabric, for fuck's sake!
A blue silk robe you bought on your latest trip to China, handcrafted by an old artisan with so much love and talent that you didn't mind spending most of your souvenir budget on it. Something about the little details – the cloud shaped pattern on the cuffs and collar, the deep pockets that keep your hands warm, the flowers and branches embroidered in gold thread – it was too gorgeous not to buy it.
But god, does Daiki hate it. It stems entirely in his unreasonable jealousy for the cloth, his insides burning when he sees how it wraps around your body. The blue silk cord around your waist, holding it together. The way it drapes your shoulders so delicately. The way it clings to your chest, your nipples perking through the fabric.
That should be him. That should be his hands on your waist, holding you tight. That should be his fingers on your shoulders, taking in the softness of your skin. That should be his mouth around your perked nipples, sucking on them till his jaw hurts.
His cock aches in his boxers every night and morning, when you roam around the house in nothing but that blue silk robe, so carelessly doing your thing. Watering your indoor plants, choosing your outfit for the next day, making yourself a cup of hot beverage to warm your insides the same way that godforsaken robe keeps you warm outside. And then you climb in bed, your thighs that Daiki loves so much peeking out of the slit, and you lean towards him, the robe opening just enough to show your bare chest under it.
That's when he loses his mind. He can't take it anymore. He well knows he sounds insane but if Daiki could be anything, he'd be that blue silk robe. Wrapping your body and touching your skin at all times. He grunts, pulling you into a wild kiss as his fingers untie the robe in frustration.
Get out of this thing, cling to me. He's feral, and you're confused. What on Earth is your boyfriend so mad about? He's hovering you, taking the sight of your naked body, the sapphire fabric splayed under you, your hair contrasting with the colour.
Fucking you as the fabric glides under your every squirm. Oh god, you're such a beautiful thing to look at. The shine in your eyes, the sweet songs of your moans. And Daiki's big brown hands, roaming every inch of you, kneading your breasts while he pounds into you with the kind of force that makes your mind go blank. It might be the best sex you've had in a while. And he smiles, a spiteful smirk on his lips as he sees how you cling to him, that cute little voice of yours begging. More, Daiki, more! It might be that, as a personal preference, you'd take your boyfriend's skin against yours over any piece of clothing.
Daiki Aomine: 1. That stupid blue silk robe: 0.

you're not expecting the bathroom door to swing open.
sitting in katsuki's overly-large bathtub, soaking into suds and fragrant oils and trying to enjoy what you believed would be another evening alone; one of kirishima's sidekicks is out with an injury and your great explosion murder god has been picking up the slack, pulling double shifts almost every night this week. not something to be upset about, as it's no one's fault, really—but you certainly didn't forsee your bath being interrupted.
this is what your i'm in here! call is met with: the creak of hinges and the smell of smoke, the deep scowl on katsuki's face as he shuffles across the tile, eyes rimmed with that greasy paint he wears under his mask.
very rarely does he intrude on your alone time—not that you're complaining. a faint shy streak travels through you, and you pull your knees closer to your chest as you smile at him. without a word, he stands across from the tub, leaning against the sink counter as he scratches at sweat dripping down his neck.
"hello," you tell him quietly, trying to tide back your excitement for the sake of his exhaustion. "didn't expect to see you here, stranger."
it's only a joke, but katsuki's frown deepens. for a while, his eyes dance anywhere other than you, long enough that you begin to wonder if a nerve has been struck, but you're surprised to find him a little pink as he straightens out his slouchy posture.
"scooch." is all he demands of you, gruffly. before you can manage a retort, his arms go over his head to grab a fist full of his shirt by the back, tugging it up and free from his dirty, worn body.
it's a nice sight, one that keeps you quiet and content: the soft curve of his shoulders and the rippling, bruised plane of his ribcage; the thick muscle of his thighs as he yanks down his pants; the spreading flush to his chest, as he strips himself bare.
you are more than happy to scooch, slipping to one side easily so that he can sit at your back. a rough groan escapes him when he sinks into the steaming water, as he stretches out and rubs at one of his knees, digging his fingers into his skin with a grimace before gently tugging you to lean back against him.
you turn your head just a bit, so that your forehead is against his cheek, nosing at his jaw. again, you give him a quiet, "hello," that elicits another long, deep groan from his chest.
"hi," katsuki murmurs, a little awkwardly into your hair. you tell him he stinks and he grunts out a single laugh, before pinching your sides under the water until you're squirming against him a little too intimately.
when you turn to face him now, the scowl has slipped away, replaced by a soft curve of his lips that looks almost like a smile. his head is leaned back against the edge of the tub, eyes lidded, and he infects you with a yawn that stretches out his whole face.
he's so cute when he's sleepy like this that you can't help it; you wrap an arm around his neck and run a hand through his hair, leaving water to drip free and down from his temples. you place a fat kiss on his cheek, no matter how dirty, and it earns you a pleased hum that makes you want to squeal.
it's been a long week, that's all, and you're just happy he's home.
"are you all mine tonight?" you ask, pulling your lip between your teeth when he raises his head to stare at you. something heavy weighs in his eyes, like his response will answer to more than just your question, this question, right here in the bath and in your arms.
katsuki blinks softly, and digs a hand into your hair, too. "yeah," he murmurs, serious. "all yours."

xavier and littering kisses all over your face my brain is fuzzy help
HELP I LOVE HIM
content warnings: pure fluff honestly, pda, xavier gives r all the luv, no pronouns used for r!
note: this was so so fun to write! pls remember to reblog, it helps a ton and comments are always appreciated<33
Tumblr media
you giggle as soft pillowed flesh meets your right cheek first; xavier’s head dips down, mop of brown swaying and tickling your exposed neck. your eyes follow the fluid movement of his chin length hair, the way the light catches it, the way each bob of his head has it flying about his face.
“xavi!” you squeal as he pecks at your jaw, teeth protruding to graze against the bone before going back to his ardent mouthing. the low vibration of his content humming makes you warm, your chest almost bursting with adoration.
“sweetheart,” he murmurs back, his lips now working back up to your forehead, pressing to your temples and then right between your crinkled eyes. you’re soft and melting, boneless in the crowded cafeteria surrounded by your friends; you couldn’t care less, too enamoured with your boyfriend to take much notice of their disgusted stares. his lithe fingers are a welcome sensation against your scalp, a gentle scratching that has you leaning into his touch and practically purring like a little cat.
his lips next find a home at the corner of your mouth; he’s so close, narrowing the gap between the pair of you further until all you can feel is him. his body pressed against yours, his perpetual warmth engulfing you along with his affections. you turn your head, determined to catch his lips in a real kiss, only to be disappointed when he pivots away once again, swooping down to nip at the other side of your neck.
your lips push out into a pout at his aversions and you scrunch your nose, a complaint on the tip of your tongue. he senses it, catches your lips between his before you can utter a single syllable, and laughs into your mouth as the whine dies in your throat.
he pulls away with a wet smack, unsurprised when you chase him and needle your way underneath his arms. absentmindedly, you begin to twirl a strand of his hair between your fingers. he flushes, a subtle red creeping across his cheeks and up to his ears.
you don’t think you’ve ever loved a person more.

I love the idea that as Wednesday and Enid get closer, Wednesday starts bringing her coffee in the morning, or whenever she's in Jericho. Enid tends to sleep late and doesn't always have time to get her own, but Nevermore is not ready to see what those claws can and will do if she has to sit through a boring history class entirely uncaffeinated.
Enid really needs to ask Wednesday for her coffee order, because it's always excessively sweet like she loves it, but with a slight edge. Hazelnut syrup perhaps?
It's not until the Addams are visiting, and catch a hint of the not unpleasantly bitter smell of the cup her roommate handed her that she realises something is off. Their evident shock completely stalls the polite small talk she had been making. Eventually she confronts Wednesday to ask about it, and discovers that all these months, the girl she thought had been her friend had been slipping cyanide into her drink.
Wednesday attempts to explain, but as is her typical fashion when approaching topics that deal with dreaded emotions, she chokes and the words catch in her throat. Enid packs a bag she can barely see through blurry eyes and practically runs to Yoko's room.
In the morning, she opens the door to head to her first class, and finds that at some point during the night, a slightly crumpled piece of paper has been slid underneath. A page ripped from a book on mithridatism. Her roommate's usually elegant cursive is shaky in the margins – it reads just a line:
"The idea of losing you is unthinkable."

Late Night
Unbreakable Bond
Headcanons #3
🧡 During the times when he’s not busy or on missions, Tails has volunteered to help other kids in his area with their homework, especially maths. (one could say he’s a tutor lol) and they all love him (they’ve given him the name ‘the Fun Enstein,’ though Tails wonders if Sonic has been whispering in their ears), because he somehow manages to turn boring, stressful homework, with all its mountain load of impossible tasks, into a fun investigation, as he eagerly dives into the problem with them, breaking it up and solving it piece by piece until they can put those pieces together and get a complete answer. But it’s not just his teaching methods as to why they love him so much, but how he presents the task in front of them. He makes it not just a question on a page anymore, but rather an important mission, a thrilling adventure in their minds. He displays it to them in a way that will not only get their thinking caps on, but also make them just as excited to solve them, as tough as it may appear, because Tails wants them to know that every problem must and always has a solution…and that learning can be fun if you make it! The energy and enthusiasm he has radiates onto those while teaching, his giddiness and excitement over what they’re tryna solve spreads to them, realising that it can be fun, because he makes it look fun and easy and possible. He doesn’t push them or expect them to know right off the bat, if they have questions, he stops and listens, and will get them to use their “thinking caps,” providing small hints or information he gives out to see if they can solve it themselves. If they’re stuck or confused on something, he will go through it over and over, simplifying and carefully explaining it until they understand (he’s already used to doing that with a certain blue hedgehog)
Sometimes he will get so caught up in their work, he ends up doing a problem or 2 all by himself. He can’t help it though, it’s just out of instinct.
Many parents have come to Tails with questions as to why or how he is so good at what he does.
“When you love something with a burning passion…something that brings you so much joy, you will naturally have the ability to teach others, because you will end up finding joy in teaching them, and might just so happens to spread that joy to those you teach.” He replies
Because to him, this is his passion..this is the thing that brought him that joy. This was something that once brought him nothing but a series of bullying and mockery from his peers, now brings him a series of praise and compliments from those around him. This is the something that he can share to help others, whether it be to save the world, or to save a kid from failing their math class.
Whenever Tails thinks back on when people would bully him with names such as “Mr. know-It-All,” he shrugs…they were right, because being a genius means you know it ALL. And if there’s one thing he knows…
Is that he loves being a STEM nerd :)
💙 Sonic, for the life of him, cannot stay still for too long, and that makes sense..i mean he’s the fastest thing alive for crying out loud…he doesn’t stop moving. Even if it’s just a leg rapidly bobbing up and down, or finger tapping on a surface, or…the fidgeting…oh the dreaded fidgeting!!
And Tails completely understands his reasons for this behaviour…he knows his brother almost, if not, better than he knows himself sometimes, but BOY does it really begin to grind his gears when he begins to subconsciously start fiddling with something of Tails’ when he’s in the lab with him, or if they were eating out, he would pick up the cutlery and twirl it around in his fingers. Even if he has no item to hold Into, he will start tugging at the ends of his gloves. It’s like he has to hold or touch something…anything he can get his hands on.
Tails can’t complain too much though, as he also tends to do the same thing, but it’s almost as if Sonic’s is twice as annoying because it’s twice as frequent to happen. He’s even bought him an unruly amount of fidget spinners, all for them to have their fair share of tasting plaster, due to Sonic spinning them so fast, they’d spin right out his fingers, and straight through a wall.
So after multiple repairs and half tempted to remove the entire wall, he scratched that idea, leaving him sitting at his desk, finger tapping the surface in deep thought…finger tapping..oh no how he was doing it too! But that’s when he got the lightbulb, and began to use all that tapping energy in his fingers into rapidly typing on his keyboard.
~
Tails walks into Sonic’s bedroom, where he was sitting on his bed and to no surprise, fidgeting. He plonks down beside him, and hands him a tablet.
“I think you’ll enjoy it.” Was all he said, before getting up and making his exit.
Sonic stared at the tablet perplexed for a short moment before picking it up and looking at the screen, all he saw was a square button that said Start. He tapped it, and before he knew it, music began to play and multiple squares were appearing on the screen increasingly fast, but he managed to hit them before it was too late..if that was the game, he thought.
What was this Tails had just bestowed upon him? Soon enough he began to fall into the swing of things, hitting and swiping the split second a square would appear. He even changed the difficulty because it was too easy. This game…was just so…satisfying. His fingers have never felt so relieved. Even the music was catchy too. So he sat there for the rest of the day tapping away to the beat.
~
Tails was humming away as he tinkered about on his latest project. He then shot a side-eye to see his older brother, standing by his desk with the tablet he’d given him earlier. He looked up to face him, and when he did Sonic tossed the tablet at him. Looking down at it, Tails noticed there was a finger sized crack in the screen. He looked up at the hedgehog wide eyed. “How did you-”
“Fix it.” Sonic said, turned around and left.
Well I guess he enjoyed it then…
s/o to @mbrine for the inspo of these 2 hcs ☝️
🧡 Tails used to earn pocket money from Sonic for the little things he’d achieve when tagging along on his adventures, or if he was being a good boy and sonic decided to treat him.
Now, it’s Sonic earning pocket money from Tails…
Tails (mildy unenthusiastic): congratulations Sonic, you managed to put your laundry in the machine…here’s $1.50
💙 Sonic is fairly good at Tap and Irish dancing *cough cough happy feet sonic edition HACCK-*
🧡 Sonic takes pictures of funny or weird things and makes memes out of them to send to Tails
💙 Sonic and Tails are stargazing and Sonic points out a star.
“That’s a bright one.”
“That’s Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. It’s the brightest star in our night sky. Its name literally means “glowing” in Greek. Sirius has a high luminosity in comparison to other stars, and has a mass twice of that which the sun has. In fact, if you were to place Sirius next to the Sun, it would outshine the sun more than 20 times over…”
Hold up- HOW DOES HE KNOW THE STAR EXACTLY…NAME N EVERYTHING?
Sonic doesn’t even bother to fact check him as he’s probably right. All he’s thinking about now is whether his little brother has an IQ of 300 or 3000…
🧡 Sonic and Tails have a special handshake, and I mean a gumball and Darwin kinda handshake lmao

The body is limp, yes dead, like she planned for it, not faster than she thought it would be but much quieter. The sentient being that it used to be lost energy for screaming very quickly, gargling from blood swelling in its respiratory system more than doing any real sound. The process of decay is, yes, fascinating but oh much too slow to watch. Way too cumbersome for the effort.
She had more fun torturing Pugsley on a bad day than this.
"I don't think murder is for me," Wednesday muses.
"You think?!" Enid pauses her panic attack to scream.

"For me, dissecting a cadaver is fun."
☾ Fandom: Wednesday ☾ Pairing: Wednesday Addams & Enid Sinclair ☾ Warnings: None ☾ Prompt: "Genius and stupidity are two sides of the same coin." by @freya-remy ☾ Summary: Enid attempt to get Wednesday in the fall decoration spirit. (756 words)
Tumblr media
The autumn air was crisp as Wednesday Addams walked through the shaded paths of Nevermore Academy, the fallen leaves crunching under her boots. The sky was a muted gray, and a chill wind carried the scent of pine and decay—her favorite time of year. She moved with her usual purposeful stride, her dark eyes scanning the surroundings for anything out of place.
As she rounded a corner near the greenhouse, a blur of pastel colors and energetic movement caught her eye. Enid Sinclair, Nevermore’s resident werewolf and eternal optimist, was bustling about, arranging pumpkins and hay bales in a display that seemed to defy gravity.
Wednesday paused, her head tilting slightly in curiosity and mild disdain. "What are you doing?" she asked, her voice flat but laced with a hint of bemusement.
Enid looked up, a bright smile lighting her face. "Howdy, roomie! I'm setting up the decorations for the Fall Festival. We need to make it look inviting!"
"Inviting," Wednesday repeated, her tone dripping with skepticism. She approached the display, her gaze flicking over the assortment of gourds and scarecrows. "Genius and stupidity are two sides of the same coin, Enid. This seems to lean heavily toward the latter."
Enid rolled her eyes, her smile unwavering. "Not everyone likes doom and gloom, Wednesday. Some of us enjoy a little color and cheer."
Wednesday arched an eyebrow, her expression impassive. "Cheer is overrated. It’s merely a fleeting distraction from the inevitable decay of existence."
Enid laughed, a bright, musical sound that seemed out of place in the somber surroundings. "You know, one of these days, I’m going to get you to enjoy something fun. It's a challenge I’ve taken upon myself."
"A fruitless endeavor," Wednesday replied, though there was a faint twitch at the corner of her mouth, almost a smile.
Enid grabbed a particularly large pumpkin and struggled to lift it onto a bale of hay. "A little help here, Miss Morbid?"
Wednesday hesitated for a moment before stepping forward. She grasped the other side of the pumpkin, and together they hoisted it into place. "I fail to see the appeal in this tradition," Wednesday said, brushing off her hands.
"It's about community, bringing people together," Enid explained, adjusting the pumpkin so it sat perfectly. "Plus, it's fun! You should try it sometime."
"Fun is a subjective concept," Wednesday said, crossing her arms. "For me, dissecting a cadaver is fun. This," she gestured to the decorations, "is tedious."
Enid grinned. "I bet I can change your mind. How about you help me with the rest of the decorations, and if you still think it’s tedious, I’ll leave you alone for the rest of the day."
"And if I find it enjoyable?" Wednesday challenged, her dark eyes narrowing.
"Then you have to come to the Fall Festival with me tonight," Enid said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Wednesday considered this for a moment, her gaze steady on Enid’s. "Fine," she said finally. "But don’t expect me to partake in any frivolous activities."
"Deal!" Enid said, clapping her hands together. "Let’s get started."
As they worked side by side, Enid chattered away, filling the silence with stories and laughter. Wednesday listened, her responses terse but not unkind. Despite herself, she found Enid’s enthusiasm oddly infectious.
"You know," Enid said, stepping back to admire their handiwork, "you’re not so bad at this."
"I excel at all tasks I undertake," Wednesday replied, though her tone lacked its usual sharpness.
Enid nudged her playfully. "See? That’s the spirit!"
Wednesday gave her a sidelong glance, her lips quirking into the faintest of smiles. "Perhaps genius and stupidity are indeed two sides of the same coin," she murmured, more to herself than to Enid.
As the final touches were put on the display, the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows over Nevermore. Enid dusted off her hands and turned to Wednesday, her expression triumphant. "So, what’s the verdict?"
Wednesday took a deep breath, the cool air filling her lungs. "It was... tolerable."
Enid laughed, her eyes twinkling. "I’ll take that as a win. See you at the festival, Wednesday."
As Enid walked away, humming a cheerful tune, Wednesday watched her go, a strange warmth blooming in her chest. Maybe, just maybe, there was something to this concept of 'fun' after all. And perhaps spending an evening at the festival wouldn’t be the worst fate imaginable.
With a final glance at the now festive courtyard, Wednesday turned and headed back to her dorm, a small smile playing at her lips.

“is he dead?” you asked apathetically, glancing at wednesday.
your girlfriend nodded once, still staring at the mangled body on the ground.
you sighed. “what did he do?”
she looked up at you. “he insulted you,” she said simply.
that shouldn’t have given you butterflies. it did anyway.
you looked back at the body and twisted your lips. “need help taking care of it?”
wednesday grinned—which was more like the smallest of smiles on her—in spite of herself and nodded again.
you bit your lip and tilted your head slightly to the right. “okay. help me get him to the woods.”
she grabbed his legs—or what used to be his legs; they were so brutally broken and bloodied you could hardly even tell what they once were—while you grabbed the upper half of him and the two of you hoisted him up and carried him into the forest a few feet away from you. neither of you had shovels or anything else to dig with so you kneeled in the dirt and started clawing in the mud with your hands.
it took at least half an hour and some significantly bloodied nails, but eventually you’d created a hole big enough for the body. the two of you dumped him unceremoniously inside and threw the dirt back on top.
“there,” you sighed, leaning back in exhaustion. “good?”
wednesday examined your handiwork and nodded, content. “yes.” she looked at you. “thank you.”
“of course.” you inched closer to her and gently caressed some dried blood off her cheek with your thumb. she shut her eyes. “i’d do anything for you.”
her eyes snapped open. “would you kill someone for me?”
you hesitated, momentarily searching your heart for the answer. “yes,” you concluded. “after all, you did so for me.”

Blossoming Romance Prompts
(Vash the Stampede x Reader, rated G, 488 words)
Tumblr media
“Guess this is goodbye,” he says, too cheerily for the words that sit like rocks in your chest, lead-heavy and choking.
You know they hurt him, too.
Still, you curse the way your eyes fill up with tears; the way your lip wobbles and your voice breaks as you tell him, “don’t you say that.”
You see something in him soften, and you ball your hands into fists at your side.
“Aw, hey,” he says gently, still sounding far too happy even when you know it isn’t how he really feels. “C’mon, you’re way better off without me dragging you down.”
“Don’t,” you repeat, and now you have to scrub at your eyes with the heel of your palm. “This isn’t goodbye. It’s not. And I’m not better off.”
Your name is a sigh of resignation on his lips, and you can’t stand it. Can’t bear to watch him accept this. Yes, you have to part—for now—but you refuse to let this be it. Not after everything you’ve been through together.
Not after you’ve fallen so deeply in love with him.
And he clearly isn’t expecting it when you run toward him once more; isn’t expecting you to throw your arms around him and hold tight and bury your face in his red coat—but after a moment of surprise, his arms come around you, too.
His embrace is water in the desert; it’s everything you’ve ever wanted, everything you ever could want. He’s tall and strong and steady, and he smells like dust and gunsmoke and the heat of the midday suns; like leather and the soap from the last inn you were chased out of. You hug him tighter, and try to commit it all to memory.
Finally, he sniffles above you. “H-hey,” he tries again, but he can’t quite seem to manage that cheerfulness anymore. “It’s okay…”
You shake your head, still pressed against him. “It’s not goodbye,” you promise, muffled into his coat. “It’s just see you later.”
You feel tears falling on the top of your head. He isn’t willing to promise that back, and you know it—so you’ll just have to promise enough for the both of you.
“I’ll track you down if I have to, Vash.”
His answer to that is a wet, teary-eyed laugh, and his arms squeeze tighter around you.
Maybe he’s trying to commit this to memory, too.
“I’m serious,” you say, growing more resolute with every word, “you can’t get rid of me if you try.”
There’s entirely too much affection in his wobbling voice when he replies, “you’re too stubborn for your own good.”
“You’re too self-sacrificial for yours.”
Still, he doesn’t seem inclined to let go right now, and neither do you—so… you don’t. You simply stand there, clutching him like a lifeline, as the suns begin to rise in the sky above.
This isn’t goodbye, you repeat like a mantra. It’s just see you later.

Stress position idea
Muzzle your Whumpee and then connect that muzzle to a very short chain attached to their collar, essentially forcing them to keep their head bowed.
Imagine how stiff and unnatural it will feel once they are released for them to raise their head up normally. How much pain that will bring.
Use this for particularly defiant whumpees, guaranteed humiliation and suffering!

Without One Another
This is a follow up drabble to What Big Brothers Fear The Most, which you can read here if you need context. It's optional but it is required pfffft.
TW: Mentions of death, grief, self hatred, implied/mentions self harm thoughts, swearing
-
Tails knocked on the door three times.
Just three, small thuds with his knuckles against his brother's door.
He hate to bother him, but after what happened a couple of minutes ago, he couldn't help but check up on Sonic.
He needed to make sure he's okay.
"Sonic?" Tails called. "Can I come in?"
After a moment of silence, Tails reconsidered knocking again. But kept moving his glove free hand away from the door, really hating to bother him.
He never bothered Sonic. He knew damn well. But it's two in the morning.
He should be asleep, not knocking at his door and especially not tinkering at his workbench. At least he didn't get scolded for that.
Again.
But it was all just so sudden for Sonic the Hedgehog to say all those things, which, to be fair, was something he needed to hear since forever, out of no where.
He did mention that he had a bad dream, and that he was okay now, but that's about it.
Tails felt like there is more to it than "just a bad dream" and "I'm fine now."
He did had a feeling on what that bad dream was about now.
He knocked again. Just like last time.
"Sonic?" He called, a little bit louder this time. Loud enough for him to hear from the other side, in case the real reason why Sonic didn't respond was because he couldn't hear him the first time.
"Do you mind if I come in and talk to you?" He asked, his ears pinning slowly.
He really didn't wanna bother him.
He's not bothering him. He is not bothering him.
No response again.
...He is, isn't he?
The fox sighed a heavy sigh. A tired one, even. He shouldn't be doing this at this hour. His sleep is much better than-
...Hell no. His sleep is not at all better than his brother's well being.
"I'm coming in." Tails says, before turning the knob and opening the door.
He wasn't ready to go in when he said that, but went in anyways, because he cares.
When the door is fully open, he could see the blue hedgehog himself, sitting on the edge of his bed with an exhausted look on his face, bags under his eyes and some sleep fluttering off his eyelashes.
He flinched slightly, not expecting a bright light coming through the doorway, since he was adjusted to the dark already. "Too bright." He grumbled, rubbing his eyes.
"Oops. Sorry." Tails says, before turning off the hallway lights he forgot to turn off before Sonic went to his room earlier.
"You, uh... You good, buddy?" He asked, a small weak grin rising on his muzzle, relived to see his brother looking somewhat calm, even though he's not asleep.
Though considering what happened, he doesn't blame him for not being asleep right now.
"Just wanted to check up on ya." He continued. "Got kinda worried back there." He scratched the back of his head, not sure on how to keep the conversation going.
He just wanted to talk to Sonic. To let him know that he's here.
"I'm fine." He says, turning his head to face his little brother, a clearly fake smile on his face, that did not match the tiredness in his emerald eyes.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure."
"...Alright then."
The hedgehog let out a loud, long yawn. It went on long enough for even Tails to yawn along with him. After that, Sonic laughed for a bit.
"It's spreading!" He chuckled, despite the tired sounding tone.
Tails giggled quietly. "Oh, noooooo." He "panicked," raising his hands in "fear." He snorted another laughter.
At least they're both laughing together.
"Ah..." Sonic sighed. It felt good to laugh again. "But, yeah, I am fine, little buddy," He reassured. "Just a little tired, is all," He rubbed his right eye.
"And nothing else is wrong?"
"...Nope."
... ...
He exhaled through his stuffed up nose.
"...Just can't sleep, I guess."
Aha. There it is.
Tails knew that Sonic was hiding something from him. He is terrible at hiding things. Very terrible.
Tails walked in his room finally and approached his bed. He stood by him, not sure if he should sit next to him.
"Something on your mind?" Tails casually asked.
"Yeah."
"Mind... telling me what's wrong, then?" Tails asked softly.
"..."
He could read the discomfort from the way his eyes lowered. He knew he didn't wanna talk about it, but sometimes it's better to talk about it than bottle it up.
Sonic kept forgetting about that.
But what ever happened in Sonic's dream messed him up really bad. He's aware that is was a dream, but it was still bothering him.
Must've been terrifying if he's not asleep at the moment.
"You don't have to talk about it," Tails says. "I just want you to know that I'm here in case you do want to talk about it."
The corner of Sonic's lips quivered.
He does.
He looked up at the little kit, his smile gave up and his eyes look sad and restless. Tails frowned slightly, not enjoying seeing his buddy like this.
"It's about my nightmare," he began. "and what happened in it..."
"Okay..." Tails says, sitting down next to him, listening.
"I was fighting Metal and you were in the air fighting some Badniks," He continued. "when suddenly I was caught in an explosion. Infinite was there and... he cut my..."
He placed his hand where his throat is, not wanting to complete his sentence as for a second he remembered how painful that attack was.
Which is absurd, because he's pretty sure he weren't supposed to feel pain in dreams. But sometimes, he does, and it's pretty screwed up.
"I go down and you arrived at a pretty bad time." Sonic says. "I was bleeding out, and you... look so scared." His hands lightly grabbed on hold of the sheets, refusing to look back at the moment. Yet, he did.
Tails was listening to every word he has to say, and he looked more uncomfortable and concerned the more Sonic continued with the story.
"You were crying. You were screaming for me. And... I died right there in your arms. Leaving you all alone..."
He looked away to his right, not wanting to look at his little brother after saying that. He knew that Tails was a little frightened by those words.
And he was.
"I remember you saying something like, 'Don't leave me,' or 'I don't want to be alone.'" His ears pinned down to his head. "But I think the worst thing you said was... 'I can't live without you.'"
Tails' eyes rose.
Sonic sits up and let out a heavy, shaky sigh. He never wanted to tell him what his own brother said to him in his dream. It just doesn't make any sense. It was just a nightmare, so why would it be so stressful?
It didn't happen. It never will.
But...
When he looked back at Tails, there was worry.
Nothing but worry.
Sonic wanted to punch himself in the face so bad for doing this to his little baby brother.
"I was the only family you had, and... you lost it." He muttered out, almost sounding emotionless, yet there was a hint of grief. "You literally cannot live without me. Yet, I know you can take care of yourself, but... I've done so much for you... I never really thought about these kinds of things, but I-..."
He stopped himself, huffing out again and placing his hands on his face, his elbows supporting on his knees. "It's just pissing me off that this nightmare is scaring me this badly." His voice muffled through his hands.
"None of that happened!" He turned back at him, his voice raised. "I didn't die and you weren't saying all those... awful things. I know you would never say that, even if I did-"
"Don't say it."
A small crack in the young one's voice is all it takes to just... break his heart into two.
"You're right about me being independent, but... You have done so much for me, and you are the first person in my life who liked me, and didn't ditch me or hurt me because of my two tails." He says. "And I know I also have Amy, Knuckles, Blaze, everybody... but you... are so important to me, and you always will be, no matter how old I get."
"I know." He often forget that he'll always be important to Tails. Not just for when he's a kid. Not just for right now.
"I know almost every day, we face crazy challenges and go on wild adventures, but we also had some close calls. Like, very close calls. Times where we nearly lost you." Tails continued. "And that one time..." He paused. "...We did lose you."
Sonic exhaled again.
"I thought I could handle it. For the first couple of months. I really did. But..." He sniffled. "Going so long without the one person who will always be there for me, without the one person who changed, saved, my life, without the one person who made me happy to be me... to be alive..."
Sonic shuts his eyes tight.
"Everyone at the Resistance was there, but... you weren't. I thought, we thought, you were dead, Sonic..." He choked quietly. "We believed that for months. I believed that for months. About the third month in, I just... couldn't stand being in a picture that you weren't in."
Sonic hates himself so much right now.
"It's just not the same without my hero." He spoke up. "One night, I just ran away from the Resistance. I was all by myself. Just like my first few years. I wailed, I screamed, I wished that everything that happened around that time was all a horrible, horrible nightmare that I was having, and I would wake up, to you, comforting me, letting me know that everything is okay and that you wouldn't leave me."
You ruined everything, Sonic. The hedgehog scolded himself.
"But..." He continued. "Reflecting on myself after that night, I stood back up and fought on my own, not wanting to have another episode like that... Well, at least I tried to fight back. I can fight back, but... How could I if a part of myself was ripped out of me?"
Dark Gaia...
"I can't say that I can't live without you, but... the world would be a much cruel place without you." Tails says, tears stinging his ocean blue eyes. "If I never have met you, my life would be a living hell. Really. I would never be happy to be me if I never met someone like you. Or just, you at all. I am grateful to have met you, Sonic."
Tails exhaled, not wanting to cry. He couldn't help but shed a few tears anyways. He needed to at this point.
"I'd say that... I would react the same way if you did d- ...you know." He hated saying that word. It felt like if he did say that word, it would happen for real. Which, he knew it's not true, but still...
Sonic placed a hand on his cheek, sighing again. He felt so disappointed in himself, as a brother. If he couldn't beaten Infinite, knowing what he was capable of, then Tails wouldn't have gone through all that mess.
Good Lord, he was only a child. What is up with the universe trying to give this kid hell? He has done nothing wrong!
Why is he failing so hard?
A gross sniffle was heard from Sonic as he covered his face entirely, ready to cry again. It startled Tails.
"Sonic?" He says, reaching his hand out. "A-Are you okay-?"
"No, Tails." He barked. "I'm not okay. I suck! I suck at being there for you when you needed me the most! I knew damn well that I mean a lot to you, and if I could've just kick Infinite's- ...Grrrr!" He nearly failed to hold in his tears, but especially his resent towards himself.
He was important to everybody. But especially Tails.
And he failed to do the most important thing. Look after his baby brother.
"I knew the Eggman War was bad for you, but I didn't know it was this bad... You just didn't tell me these things and- ... ..."
A thought popped in his head. A thought that should never come up to him.
No. He wouldn't. He's too young. He fucking wouldn't.
"Sonic?"
The young voice made him snap back to reality for a brief moment. He turned his head to face him. Sonic was horrified of what he is about to ask him.
"I need you to be honest with me, Miles." He warned, never sounding so serious in his life.
"O-Okay...?"
"Tails... At any point during the Eggman War, have you ever attempted to hurt yourself...?"
" ... ...WHAT?!!"
The question gave Tails a major shock, and even a small jolt down his spine. "ARE YOU INSANE?! Why the heck would y- WHY THE- HOW COULD YOU ASK ME THAT?!" He shrieked, now off the bed and back on his feet, yelling at him.
"Those months were stressful for me, but I didn't try to- What the FUCK, Sonic!!" He sobbed.
Okay, out of ALL the swear words, he should NEVER, EVER use that word, but Sonic was so speechless and scared that he couldn't even give him that warning tone in his voice whenever he swears.
"I-I'm sorry! I was just- I was worried, and-"
"OF COURSE I didn't attempt that! God, just because I can't live without you, doesn't mean I LITERALLY can't! Wh-Why... Oh, my Gaia..." Tails covered his mouth. "I... This is my fault. I should've told you about what I was going through in the first place, but I made you assume... Oh, my Gaia, I'm so sorry, Sonic." He softly cried, crushed from the fact that Sonic was this worried about him right now.
The hedgehog loves him too much.
He hated the idea that Sonic was worried about his own brother doing... that to himself. Granted, that one night was the most stressful of them all, that he nearly thought of it, but he didn't. He refuse to think that way. That's why he kept fighting.
Cause he knew fully well that's not what Sonic wanted, alive or not.
And he was right. Sonic wouldn't want that.
If he wouldn't want that, then neither would Tails.
"No. Don't apologize. Please." Sonic stood up as well, his voice breaking. "It's not your fault-"
"Well, it's not your fault either, Sonic!" Tails croaked. "Neither of us saw it coming! Especially me!"
"I just wished you would've told me about how you were feeling- I mean, you never really told me until we were on the Starfall Islands, but-"
"I thought it wouldn't matter because everything is okay-"
"YOU THINK I'M OKAY WITH YOU HIDING ALL THIS FROM ME?" He roared, tears beginning to stream. "YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO ME, GOD DAMMIT! YOU MEAN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO ME! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!"
Tails never felt terrified of his big brother's voice.
"I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!"
... ...
... ...
Tails hiccuped. Sonic panted. No words can be exchanged. Only looks.
Sad, hurt, protective looks.
The hedgehog huffed. Feeling worse than he already was. But he didn't care. All he ever cared about was his little two-tailed brother.
"You've done a lot for me, Tails." He spoke. His voice was dying out but he couldn't care less. "All my life I thought being a hero is just doing everything yourself and taking care of yourself, but I was wrong. I never realized how wrong I was until I met you."
The fox sniffled, listening to every, little word from his hero.
"Without you, I probably would never have found the Chaos Emeralds, or stop the Death Egg, or save Angel Island, or stop Perfect Chaos, any of that stuff! My life would never be the same if I never met you. In fact, I'm not even sure if I would make it out alive without you."
His voice was trembling, but for the first time in a long time, he didn't care that he was crying in front of someone.
"You made a huge impact on my life, Tails. I owe you everything. Really..." He barely showed off such a sweet smile, but he's so tired and drained from yelling and just, staying up so late, he couldn't find the energy to smile at all right now.
"I am grateful to have you as my brother. And I know I don't say this a lot, but I think about it every time I see my friends, including you... I love you. I love you til the stars twinkle their last shine" A small sob escaped when he spoke the last couple of words.
He meant every word.
"And you wanna know something? Even if, I did die, I'm not really gone, okay? I will remain with you and everyone else forever, whether I'm in person or in spirit. I will always be in your heart and I will always love you, Miles "Tails" Prower."
He held both of Tails' hands as he began to cry. The young fox cried along with him, hearing the last sentence on loop in his head.
He really meant every, single word.
The two brothers embraced in a big hug. The biggest hug they could ever give for each other. Sonic held onto Tails for dear life as he finally sobbed loud enough for even the critters from outside to hear.
Tails hiccuped and cried continuously, not wanting to let go of the one person who changed his life for the better.
For once, they both wish this hug would last forever.
They don't care if they stayed up all night, they refuse to let each other go.
They cannot live without one another.
-
Two things woke Tails up; the sounds of birds chirping outside the window, and Sonic's monstrous snoring.
He tried to open one eye, but it was all blurry and covered in sleep. "Aw, geez... Why did I cry so much...?" He jokingly asked to himself, rubbing his eyes.
He sits up and was about to get off of the bed, but Sonic's snoring startled him a bit and he turned to see him snuggling against one of his pillows.
He looks so goofy, he thought to himself.
He's happy that Sonic's finally getting some good sleep.
Tails looked around to find himself in Sonic's room. When was the last time he slept in Sonic's room?
Old habits die hard, apparently.
"Zzzzzz... n-no chili..." Tails turned his head back the moment he heard him muttered something. "ZZZzzz, no mm chili dogs, 'm full. Thk you fr askin' though, Vanilla, zzzzzz..." He slurred.
Dreaming about chili dogs. Of course he is. Tails snickered.
He looked at the time and it read 11:38. Tails was surprised on how much or the morning is left. Him and Sonic stayed up for so long, just doing nothing but crying and hugging.
Didn't sound like a lot, but it was a long night regardless.
They needed to be there for each other, and it took them this long enough to finally have a moment with each other.
And even after all this time, Tails is still Tails, and Sonic is still Sonic.
And they're still brothers.
What a time to be alive.
"Yo. Big bro." Tails poked Sonic's cheek to wake him up.
"Mmmaybe one more bite wouldn't hurt..." Sonic mumbled before nibbling on his hand.
Tails covered his mouth, quieting down his laughter. Oh, this is his morning coffee. This is entertainment.
He needed this laugh.
"Sonic, wake up. You're dreaming." He hate to ruin the moment, but he needed to wake his brother up. He didn't want him to sleep through the day.
When Sonic's eyes open, the first thing he could see was most of his hand in his mouth. His eyes rose in confusion before he sits up, getting the hand out of his mouth and spitting out in disgust.
"What the heck was I doing??" He cried. Tails was laughing so hard he almost fell off the bed.
"Tails, please don't tell me you saw the whole thing!" Sonic felt so silly. He always known he spoke in his sleep, but this is ridiculous.
"Relax, Sonic. Everyone chews on their own hand in their sleep at some point in their lives." Tails says, getting up and already heading out of the door.
"Doubt that..."
"Yet here it are."
"Shut it." Sonic kept himself from laughing.
He gets up too, putting on his chili dog themed slippers, reading to start the day. "Geez, what a night... I felt like a crybaby."
"Hey. Don't say that." Tails spoke, turning to the hedgehog. "It's okay to cry. I can tell you've been needing to let it out for some time now."
"Yeah..." Sonic said in agreement. He scratched the back of his ear, feeling bad. "Hey, I'm sorry for telling you about all that stuff. I didn't mean to bring you down like that. My nightmare was pretty messed up and-"
"Sonic. It's okay." Tails reassures with a genuine smile. "It's okay to feel and talk about certain things. I'm glad that you get to talk to me about it. Even if it was messy, we still talked it out."
"Yeah." Sonic says, smiling as well. "Thanks. For being there for me."
"I should be thanking you, dude. But, you're welcome. Anything for my big bro!"
He opened the door and walked out. "I'm getting breakfast ready! You hungry?" He called out from outside the room.
"Some waffles sound pretty good!" Sonic replied out loud.
"Okay, cool!" The kit says.
Sonic chuckled softly. He still felt silly after his and Tails' talk, but at the same time, he felt a lot better now.
He may not be used to talking about his feelings, but at least his little buddy was there to listen to him all the way through.
He truly is grateful to have a brother like Tails.

SUMMARY: "The moment the words leave your lips, he lets go along with a breath he wasn’t even aware he was holding in. In the blink of an eye, the arrow shoots no more than an inch above the target’s red center. That was the closest he’s ever been to bullseye, and his heart pounds from both the achievement and how your body is still pressing against his."
Or where you teach Xavier how to properly shoot a bow and arrow, landing an arrow straight into the target and into his heart.
Tumblr media
“So, are you the only member of the Archery Club?”
Xavier Thorpe, caught-off guard by your unexpected entry, prematurely lets go of the recurve bow’s string. The arrow sails weakly in the air before sinking sadly into the leaf-covered grass and not into the target.
“Uh, yeah,” he awkwardly lowers his bow and turns to look at you, confusion coloring his features, “Are you…interested in joining?”
“Maybe,” you shoot him a playful, close-lipped smile before launching yourself off of the small pyramid of hay you were sitting on, “How long have you been doing archery for? A few weeks?”
“More or less,” he returns to shooting arrows while paying you no mind, “What about you? Ever shot a bow and arrow before?”
“I have,” you answer just as ambiguously, whistling as his last arrow lands on the blue outer ring, “For the two arrows that are on there, you don’t have terrible grouping. At least they’re all in the same ring! What’s the distance? Fifteen to twenty yards?”
“...Fifteen,” his tongue pokes the inside of his cheek, slightly irritated that you’re acting like you’re the member of the Archery Club, not him.
“Can I see your stance again, please?” you move closer to him with your hands behind your back.
His brows furrow with an unwelcome sense of inferiority, “Why?”
Your lips curve into another impish grin, eyes gleaming with unknown intent, “You’ll see.”
With a grievous sigh, he follows your request, placing his feet apart and standing perpendicular to you. He adjusts his posture, squaring his shoulders.
“Okay, so far so good.… Now, pull back on the bow, please.”
What are you, an archery instructor or something?
Still, he does as you ask. After slotting an arrow below the nocking point and above the arrow rest, his three fingers grip the bowstring. He pulls back on the string. With minimal struggle, he tries to remain as still as possible, refusing the bow to lean one way or the other. His expression pulls into itself, brows furrowed even more for better concentration.
“I see, I see…” you merely mutter to yourself, leaning in closer to further observe his archery ability, “Now, release.”
At your command, he wastes no time shooting the arrow, relieved after having to pull back for so long. Due to the prolonged drawback, Xavier’s accuracy severely declined, the arrow plunging its tip into the upper-left corner of the target.
“Your problem,” you point a finger up, as if you solved the mystery, “is that you seem to have a little difficulty maintaining a stable posture when pulling back on your bow and when releasing the arrow. Not enough to be concerning, but enough to affect your performance. Do you know how much your drawback is?”
“Uh,” he searches the bow for an answer but to no avail, finding only plain wood, “This is just the bow the school has. I have no idea.”
“You’d think the school would offer better recurve bows then, with the money we pay them,” you crack a joke, lightly jabbing him in the ribs, and then extend a hand out, “May I?”
Xavier just stares blankly at you and then your outstretched hand, confused as to what exactly you’re asking for. With an urgent wave of your fingers towards the bow, he finally understands and quickly hands it over, slightly embarrassed that he didn’t understand you at first.
You get into position and pull back on the bowstring with ease, soon letting it go and returning the bow to him, “Yeah, this bow’s drawback is a few pounds outside of your range. You should be handling a bow with a drawback of forty to fifty-five pounds. For today, you can use that bow, but let’s see if we can ask Weems for another bow.”
“…Okay…” he replies, uncertain as to how to respond to such a level of authority from someone he’s never even met before.
Really, he’s grateful for all your help, but, as a member of the severely underpopulated Archery Club, he feels as if he should be the one telling you this. However, he will admit, even though he has no idea as to what your skill level actually is, you do sound like you know what you’re talking about. So, he supposes he can play along for now.
“I have to go to the Weathervane soon to meet up with some friends, but let’s improve your shot first,” you now move behind his back, “Reload your arrow, please.”
With a resounding click against the taut string, he sets the arrow in place and pulls back. He adjusts his posture and is ready to release before a set of palms suddenly rests on his shoulders, your chest brushing against his back. He flinches greatly at the surprise contact but not enough where he would have to reset his posture entirely. His eyes saccade rapidly between you and the target, unsure as to where he should be focusing on.
With a hard swallow, he tries his best to form a coherent thought before speaking, “What…what’re you—?”
“Relax your shoulders,” you’re practically whispering in his ears due to your close proximity, which sends his heart beating so fast, he’s afraid you can hear it, “Lower your aim a little to the right…. Now down…. Perfect. Steady your breathing, remain calm…”
How is he supposed to “remain calm” with you so close to him!?
You remove your hands from his shoulders but still stay right behind him, your voice prickling his skin, “Now…let it fly.”
The moment the words leave your lips, he lets go along with a breath he wasn’t even aware he was holding in. In the blink of an eye, the arrow shoots no more than an inch above the target’s red center. That was the closest he’s ever been to bullseye, and his heart pounds from both the achievement and how your body is still pressing against his.
“Great job!” you cheer and step away, picking up your bag that was slumped against the haystack you were sitting on before, “Well, I got to go now, but I’ll see you next time! Toodles!”
Too overwhelmed from what just happened, he watches your retreating form become smaller and smaller. Unlike him, you weren’t fazed at all, even bobbing your head to whatever music you were listening to with your headphones.
Just who are you? He never even got your name! Are you in the same year as him? How come he’s never seen you?
Questions flood his mind, and, before he ends up drowning in them, he decides to end the day and packs away the bow and arrows. He feels his cheeks heat up remembering how your body felt against his and how your instructive tone, distinctly different from your lighthearted one, sent shivers down his spine.
Run. He needs a run before his memory of you, albeit brief, consumes him entirely.
Zipping his bag, he slings it over his shoulder and heads straight to his dorm to change into more comfortable wear, hasteful to try to forget about you until the next Archery Club meeting.

ENDING POST: xavier thorpe is my everything. i eat, breathe, and sleep xavier thorpe.
no, seriously, this is the product when you multiply my hyperfixation of xavier thorpe, my toxic trait of "i can shoot a bow and arrow better than xavier thorpe can even though i have not touched a bow in years," and my procrastination of homework.
and i have just been so inspired by the fanfiction everyone is making for this man! seriously, i have not found a greater treasure trove of fanfiction for a character in so long (the jealousy and friends to lovers trope <33) ; amazing kudos to the talented authors of this fanbase! i hope i contributed to such an incredible collection of stories for xavier thorpe just as much as everyone else has <3

Wip Wednesday!!
Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to post the whole thing...
A (later) continuation of this post
Pairing: Gale x Named!Fem!Tav (Lillian)
SFW
---
“We should take care of that lip of yours as well, so it doesn't get infected.”
He doesn't respond, instead opting to observe her while she works. Her nose scrunches up when she's focused and her lips purse into a pout he can't help but find utterly adorable. When her fringe falls into her face, she makes two attempts at blowing it out of the way before letting it hang in her eyes while she dabs the salve onto his lip. Her fingers tentatively hold his cheek while her thumb brushes soothing back-and-forth motions over the cut. He sucks in another hiss of pain at the stinging sensation and her grip on him tightens just so.
“I know, I’m sorry.”
He is acutely aware of the gentle pressure from the pads of her fingers on his cheek and jaw, so much so that the sting of his lip fades into obscurity. It’s been so long since he’s been this close with another person, he has to steel his will so he doesn’t shiver at the contact alone.

"... and quietly started to dance his way all the way back home. The end." Caleb closed the picture book and set it softly on the bedside table. "Alright, time for sleep."
"But I'm not even tired," Luc protested through a  yawn. His tiny form was almost swallowed by the pillows and blankets of his mother's four-post bed, and one of the Tower cats, Benji, was curled up in his arms.
"Alright, if you're not tired, just rest your eyes a bit, and I'll come check on you in exactly ten minutes."
"Okay," he relented with another yawn,  eyes already closed. "I'm just resting my eyes." He squeezed Benji tightly to him, and the fey cat purred loudly in response.
As Caleb walked softly out of the room, he heard Luc whisper, "Are you a prince, Benji?"

Word Game Wednesday @ficwip for this week is Despair
From Day 9 August Drabble for the prompt Hypothermia (A Cold Wet Tuesday Night in Stoke)
“Football is life but this, this is not football. This is despair,” Dani whined, bottom lip firmly stuck out into a pout. “Come on muchacho! This ain’t nothing. You should have been warned about the British weather before you rocked up,” Jamie laughed. He was bouncing up and down, twisting his hips as he vibrated on the sideline. “I was told rain, and not that warm,” Dani sulked, desperately trying to plunge his hands deeper into the pockets of the sideline cape that was the only thing allowing him to be outside right now. “When we get running that’ll get the blood pumping,” Jamie reached out and patted Dani on the cheek. Dani writhed and squealed, backing away rapidly to get away from Jamie’s ice cold digits.
