#writing is....an art to me and if you know anything about art

It is free content that someone has put their time, effort and energy into. They do not owe anyone anything if they choose to write or draw that is up to them. Demanding that they change the art or story to suit your needs is called being entitled. I have noticed over the years of writing fanfic, that the etiquette of certain things has gone downhill. People demanding extra updates on fics and comics, demanding that a character act a certain way. Complaining when a character doesn't act like they would do in canon.

I could keep going with the list. But the point remains, that demanding something from anyone is called entitlement. We as writers, artists and creators don't owe you anything. I know that my words seem harsh and truthfully they are. But when you come into my comment section and demand that I do another update after I have just done a double update and you leave three pages of complete and utter nastiness and you think that you have the right to demand another update? Get fucked. To my duckies who read the chapters and enjoy them, thank you, even those who leave constructive critiques, something which I have no problems about as I can't fix a problem if no one points it out to me. But demanding that I do something the way you want? No, and if you don't like it, then fuck off. I don't have time to read over your bullshit and then deal with you when you say that my work is for readers and that I should do what you want. There is a back button. Use it.

Don't you think you owe it to readers to give them what they want?

this is the first time using a hobonichi weeks and i'm really enjoying it!! many a thoughts below......

i bought my 2025 hobonichi weeks planner a few weeks before it started so i decided to experiment with layouts and styles in the back for the last few weeks of 2024. you can really see the evolution from the week of Oct 28 to the week of Nov 18, e.g., how i went from one highlighter color (purple) to a whole system that i'll be carrying into 2025 :))) the colors i chose for the week of Nov 11 were so ugly that no one will be seeing that lolol. one issue is that i still don't know what to do with the empty page on the right side. i did a reflection on nyc one week but i'm not always in a reflective mode (i also do reflections on my life in my vent journal). i tried the alastair method but it usually takes me multiple weeks to complete a task. it was still helpful to see what i eventually need to do so i think the right side will be a very fluid system that changes based on my needs week-to-week. for now, i've been keeping an ongoing "interest log" and writing down quotes and poems that speak to me that week. i might implement a mini habit tracker too since i'm not great at maintaining my daily habits

my "aesthetic" goal for 2025 is for my planner to look as used and loved as possible! i'm not much of an artist nor a memory keeper (i have my 5-year planner for memory keeping) and i don't like keeping receipts but i made a better effort at preserving cute stickers and things from cafés and bookstores and other places (but only if i think they look good hahah). i also want my stickers and washi tape to look cohesive but it's a little hard for me because i operate on vibes (both artistically and generally) and never took any art classes or anything so idk if anything will look as "aesthetically pleasing" as i want it to. the only thing that saves me is my neat handwriting. but! my ultimate goal is to not be so hard on myself about how my planner looks since it's meant to be a functional tool. i do think i'm doing a good job on keeping it true to myself and my life 😎

It’s tense.

Truthfully, spelldrive isn’t your game of choice—it’s loud, and hot, and it’s so crowded you’re not sure if the sweat running down your arms is even yours. Not like it matters, though.

Spelldrive is Leona’s game of choice.

So you lean against the railing, starry eyes following after his dashing form as he zooms through the skies with his magic pen. There’s too much you don’t understand about the game but you scream anyway. You scream his name until your throat is scratched. You grip onto the railing so hard that your hands ache. You wear his old NRC jacket and beam with pride because Leona Kingscholar is playing one of the most important games of his life, and Leona Kingscholar is the most important person in yours. And you know he’ll win.

You tug on the collar and scream.

“Leona! I love you!”

He barely glances at you but you’re sure he heard you; he can pick out your voice from the cheering crowd. Just as you know him, he has every part of you memorized and engraved in his soul, as if you were the missing puzzle piece left to complete him.

“Can they make this goal? Erickson passes to Kingscholar and—”

You jump, almost off the railing, in your happiness you’d ignored the question of safety. Still, your heart is beating so fast as it bathes in adrenaline and dopamine. 

You’re barely able to calm down before you’re quite literally swept off your feet.

All of a sudden, your hair is whipping about in the air as you try to catch your breath; there’s a pair of gloved hands situated atop your abdomen, pulling you flush against a broad chest. The screams are drowned out by a familiar heart beating the same rhythm. “Herbivore,” his voice murmurs in your ear, “shall I take you as my prize?”

“Put me down!”

The smug lion beastman only half complies, seating you on the railing of the bleachers. When you’re just about to tell him off for almost killing you with an untimely heart attack, his lips are on yours (oh sevens he smells like sweat and tastes like adrenaline).

You could’ve sworn the screaming from the audience got louder, but you can no longer hear it or even spare the smallest bit of attention for anything other than the way Leona’s holding you. He’s kissing you like he’s never going to get the chance again.

When you pull away, there’s an intricately carved silver ring on your finger.

“Marry me.”

And if you almost fall to your death in a moment of shock, the entire thing caught on multiple cameras and gone viral on Magitube, uh, at least you’re a royal now…?

SUMMARY: Art doesn’t mind what’s wrong with you. That’s the worst part, really. You can’t understand how someone so perfect in his brutality could ever want something so rotten.

The blood pools around your feet in lazy rivulets, stark and shining against the pale stretch of snow. It’s almost beautiful, in a grotesque sort of way – the kind of beauty you find in shattered glass or a body just before the life leaves it. Art would know what you mean.

He’s doing something behind you, a slow, lilting tune, soft as snowfall. He’s in his own little world, swaying slightly, his bloodied hands clasped behind his back. His clothes look filthy now, stained with deep red streaks.

You think he looks ridiculous. And perfect.

“Do you ever think,” you say quietly, your voice barely carrying over the winter hush, “that I might taste bad?”

Art stops. His head snaps toward you, and even though you know he doesn’t speak, you feel the weight of his question in the tilt of his head, the way his wide eyes narrow just slightly.

“You know,” you murmur, staring down at the corpse between you, “if someone tried to bite me. My blood’s probably awful. There’s something wrong with me.” you glance back at him, watching the way his grin widens like it’s some private joke only he gets. “You’d agree, wouldn’t you?”

You’re half-joking, but it still stings when he laughs – or whatever you’d call that silent, breathy wheeze of his. He’s doubled over, clutching his stomach like you’ve just told the funniest joke in the world.

“I’m serious,” you say, your voice sharper now, a little defensive. You fold your arms over your chest. “Why wouldn’t it be bad? I’m rotting from the inside out, Art. I can feel it. There’s no way it’d taste good.”

He straightens up, wiping at his face even though there’s no tears, no sign of any real laughter – just that grin of his, smeared with someone else’s blood. He takes a step closer, his boots crunching over the snow.

“Don’t look at me like that,” you mutter, turning away. “I mean it. It’s not romantic to drink from something dead.”

He’s behind you before you can finish the thought, his hands curling over your shoulders in a way that makes your skin crawl – and not because you don’t like it. You hate that you do. That you want him to hold you tighter, to crush you in that terrible grip of his.

“I mean, maybe it’s fitting,” you continue. “You’re a demon. I’m a vampire. We’re both monsters. But even monsters deserve something better than this, don’t you think?”

Art spins you around in one fluid movement, his hands dropping to your arms to hold you in place. You can feel the press of his fingers through your clothing, too strong, too insistent, but you don’t pull away. He’s tilting his head again, his grin growing impossibly wider, like he’s daring you to keep talking.

“You don’t believe me,” you say softly.

He shakes his head, slow and deliberate. Then, quick as a flash, his hand moves to his chest, dragging his fingers down like he’s unzipping it, miming something pulling at his heart.

You swallow hard. “You’re just saying that.”

He glares at you, his grin faltering for the first time. It’s subtle, just the faintest twitch at the corners of his mouth, but it’s enough to make your breath catch.

“Okay, okay,” you say quickly, raising your hands in surrender. “You love me. I get it. You don’t have to be so dramatic about it.”

He doesn’t let go. Instead, he leans in closer, his face inches from yours. You can smell the copper tang of blood on him, can see the splatters drying on his skin.

Maybe he doesn’t care what’s wrong with you, doesn’t care if your blood tastes like poison, if your body is too far gone to be anything worth having. He just loves you.

just finished the new beatles doc and yeah, it's nothing we haven't heard before etc etc, but it does such a wonderful job at showing the impact of the beatles, and listening to fans talk about how much they love them will ALWAYS be one of my favourite things.

the fact those four silly boys from liverpool created this thing that has touched so many people, who made music that gets described as 'a light coming on', who made girls scream because there weren't words to describe how they were feeling, and who have inspired so many people to make their own music and write and create is pure magic.

and it's so joyous that these documentaries are still getting made, and people are still falling in love with them for the first time. like, they're huge, everyone knows them, they are fundamental in the development of pop culture and yet they still feel so intensely personal, and finding other fans makes you feel like you're in on a secret together.

more than anything else, it's left me grateful for the friends I've made here, and how much I love reading other people's thoughts on the history or the music, the gorgeous art that gets posted and fics that get written, of being able to go into record shops and the beatles being an easy conversation topic with the owner, and for me and my boss who don't have much in common at all, being able to argue over our beatles opinions on a weekly basis.

That's the thing!!! C!Thomas could probably benefit from indulging in dark creativity, be that breaking something, writing something gruesome, or in general just screaming really loud. He hasn't ever really fully leaned into that and I think it'd be good for him to have that catharsis.

But dark creativity and intrusive thoughts are not the same and can't be treated that way regardless of the fact they are combined into the one facet.

Especially in WTIT where he's fully leaned into the intrusive thoughts role.

Dark creativity is generally beneficial to Thomas because giving Thomas a greater perspective for his art is useful. However, intrusive thoughts are never helpful, and none of them have anything to do with the actual issues Thomas is dealing with. Generally Remus is much more likely to emerge and cause chaos when Thomas is already upset or anxious about something else because when Thomas is already feeling low, it is easier to further upset him. You could say that Remus showing up is beneficial to the other sides to indicate to them that Thomas is upset about something, but nothing Remus does has anything to do with his actual issues or realistic problems, he is just creating more anxiety and chaos because it is fun for him, and that anxiety and chaos that Remus causes has nothing to do with Thomas's actual real life issues, they are separate.

As someone who also has intrusive thoughts (twinsies, you and me, I want the window seat), I agree that Remus works like a litmus test, but more so like a check engine light. The light comes on when something is wrong enough, but the light itself does not tell you exactly what is wrong. You have to go into the system, you can't just trust the light. Remus comes around when something is wrong, but hes not giving any good indication as to what. He's playing to sensitivities and insecurities, and while those things are stuff to work on, they are not the root problem. He's misleading.

The issue is that, if Remus is showing up to show something is wrong and he's trying to help fix it, he's going about it in the literal worst way possible. He's not helping by making Thomas anxious and giving him Intrusive thoughts. And he's not really trying to guide anyone to a solution either. Yes he tells Logan he can't fix Thomas by himself, but that's more of a dig at Logan specifically cause Logan would want to fix Thomas by himself, and he can't. Remus is enjoying the misery.

He may be recognizing something is wrong, but he doesn't seem to care about the solution. If anything, it would be more beneficial for Remus if Thomas was to remain upset and anxious cause that's when remus is more likely to be listened to and kept around.

On one hand I can agree that it might be a disservice to reduce Remus to shits and giggles. How ever, he hasnt really proved much reason otherwise. In general I actually do believe he is in it for shits and giggles and that his character is that one dimensional. He's shallow enough that he would do things, and has done things, for the soul purpose of making someone upset or because he thinks it's funny.

The only solution I can see him being a part of is pushing Thomas so far to the breaking point so that he does indulge in dark creativity, but if he does that, he's not doing that to fix things, he's doing it because it's going to be fun.

In the end I think we just have a fundamental disagreement on what Remus motive is. I just haven't seen anything that indicates he wants to help as a whole. He likes poking the bear "just because" in my opinion.

But I do still agree with original sentiment, I think he's incredibly clever in the way he does what he does, he knows exactly how to get under everyone's skin and takes full advantage of it.

I don't think Remus is given enough credit for being clever.

Day 58

Hey remember when randomly a couple days ago in the event I mentioned that one of these days makes me irrationally angry??? Yeah this is the one. 

So context for this one is that in the danganronpa section of a server I’m in someone asked a question around the lines of-

“Who is your favorite character for a Mastermind AU?”

Nowadays if you asked me, I’m very fond of the Mastermind AU I drew for Toko and Komaru during Tokomaru Week this year, and it’d probably be my answer nowadays.

However if you asked Jem from several months ago, who was brainrotted to absolute hell over these two to the point that she could barely form an opinion on other characters (don’t worry I fixed that issue in my brain, kinda), you know damn well her instant response was Mikan.

At first it was kind of a non-serious filler answer because I didn’t have anyone else who piqued my interest for that at the time. Arguably at first I wasn’t even interested in Mastermind Mikan initially. And then my brain saw I was apathetic to it and was like “Hold my drink” before it spiraled into an AU, which I of course would then use for Day 58 at the time. 

I drew up a character design and some basic details in a total rush, and then drew a really basic but cute enough image of the two alongside various headcanons for this version of the relationship. I actually intended to draw a bonus image of the two on their own just because I felt like I was kinda scamming ya’ll if I didn’t. However I have like, none of the time for that on my hands right now, I’m JUST starting to learn Web Design at the time of writing this. If people like this enough I might try and actually draw some proper art of this AU again though.

As for why this day makes me angry, uhhhh yeah no it’s completely irrational. I have no justification in the slightest I just know that every time i scroll past this  one while looking through the folder of Junkan art for the project I just get annoyed.

I’m actually really happy with the Mastermind Mikan design, might be a biiiit overdesigned? But let’s be real if we’ve learned anything over the course of whatever the hell you’d call this project, it’d be that I am nothing if not a woman of pure excess, especially within the small realm of this ship. 

Okay so hi this is Jem from like, slightly in the future. And when I say slightly I mean like 20 minutes ahead of the previous paragraph. 

So I drew a Monokuma for this AU. Something I didn’t do for my Mastermind Tokomaru AU. I kind of had the idea for a Mikan version of Monokuma in my head for a decent amount of time, partially because I also want to do some art of Mikan and Junko in Shiro/Kurokuma cosplays later (yeah sorry spoilers there is no shiro or kurokuma representation in this project. But worry not, UDG does have representation, muuuuuch later). That made me think about how Shirokuma does kind of have similarities to Mikan (i think, it’s been awhile), which made me realize that monokuma but purple sounded neat. So there’s this now.

I imagine that Junko would still be voicing this version from behind the scenes. Partially because unless it’s literally an Ultimate Voice Actor Mikan AU there’s no way she can do that for a whole killing game. The other reason is I just kind of imagine that Mikan would take a similar role to Tsumugi, being both a member of the killing game and the mastermind, rather than what Junko did where she faked her death and orchestrated from behind the scenes without suspicions. Also yes this would mean that Junko is behind the scenes as normal, just that this time she’s solely focused on managing Monokuma. The Control Room is directly connected to Mikan’s room for easy, non-suspicious access to all the mechanisms. And also so the two of them can cuddle at night, obviously. 

Oh yeah with this Monokuma Redesign I would probably also change Mikan’s hair pin to reflect the same color scheme, even if I do like the way it looks with normal Monokuma colors. I would also probably make a “normal” Mikan design for this version. Just tone back certain parts of it to give the illusion that she isn’t the mastermind. Y’know, for the game that will totally exist based off this au, definitely. 

Honestly I think rambling about it has made me soften up on this one a bit, for now at least. So for real I might try and draw more of this AU regardless of whether people want it or not. That said y’know, if you DO want more of it feel free to say so cause that will in fact give me some mild motivation lol.

Oh I guess last thing. When I first showed the initial Reference image of this Mikan to friends one of them pointed out that I accidentally made her plan into, what is essentially the American Healthcare System. I swear to god that wasn’t intentional but it did make me laugh.

He'll get whatever he thinks you like best , He's someone who pays attention to your interests and always manages to surprise you with something you might have talked about weeks before hand

♡　Dates are something Careen isn't too experienced with , But he's very open to whatever you have in mind. However nothing beats just spending time with you. even if you both aren't doing anything special , being near you is the best thing he could ask for.

♡　 Aside from the ripping his heart out thing , his flirting is often done with words. this is of course if the heart thing didn't scare you off. Luckily Careen has been taking advice from Klaus and Judith , so he's trying to be more "forward" with his flirting. of course , still a gentleman , Careen wont go too overboard if he sees your uncomfy.

♡　 Last thing , If you happen to know anything on the medical side of things , he will be more than happy to have you patch him up. He does a lot for others , so its nice to be taken care of , Especially if its by you !! nothing like a personal Nurse/Doctor to come home to !

what is it like to be kind of popular/getting people interested in your own ideas and not fan art?

I don't think I'm popular *looks behind my back fearfully* 😨

Here's the thing. A lot of people post things and just expect people to find them and interact with them. To some people it works. But a lot of the time there's no way for people to even find your stuff or engage with it.

A lot of people go into fandom tags to look for art and writing, but not a lot of people just scroll the "oc" or "art" or "writing" tags aimlessly.

I'm not like. A social media expert 😼 or whatever. I don't know anything about anything ♥️ I literally just do whatever weurd things i want and that's it

Here's some things I can advise:

If you have ocs.... Please feel free to actually talk about them in detail, share your thoughts on them in detail, write actual info and profiles on them. Don't be shy to do this bc there's no way for someone to engage with your ocs if they don't really understand who you're talking about except the names 😭... Feel free to like link their info in your pinned or their toyhouse profiles or whatever... !!!! A lot of the times I follow someone and they ask to engage with their ocs, and I want to, but I literally just don't understand who they're taking about... Or I see someone talking about their ocs in very vague terms but I can't actually find who they're talking about.... (Not that you have to do this do whatever you want ... I'm not the boss of you ♥️ it's just something id like to see) And also don't be shy to actually remind people who you're talking about bc people who haven't been following you for a long time won't know. I think this is simpler for me because my concepts/characters are very basic/shallow and easy to understand. Taur who is a bee, taur who is a bath, etc... Is Inherently understandable and doesn't have any deep lore

👆 this applies to everything in general not just ocs. Talk about art. Talk about your own art. Talk about what you love in the art of others. Talk about your plans and concepts and ideas. Talk about your projects. Share with the world 🌍 🌍 🌍

Don't be shy to talk about your things. I think some people are anxious about seeing people unfollowing them. I personally use xkit to hide my followers on pc and actively avoid looking at my follower count on mobile... Because idgaf ♥️. If someone doesn't like what I post they're Nothing to me. I post about taurs and weird things basically every day. What do I have to lose? My dignity as a Tumblr blogger? Genuinely like just share whatever thoughts or concepts or doodles or drawings you want without being like "aww nobody wants to see this". Honestly I also do this because I don't have friends to talk about concepts and stuff with so your mileage may vary. Maybe you don't want to post. Maybe you worldbuild with your friends. Then maybe you can share the results of that worldbuilding and thoughts, that's good too.

Self reblog your stuff 😭 even old stuff. Self reblog your stuff and then elaborate on it further with your thoughts. Dig up old concepts and do things with them. Its okay to do this. Not everyone sees your stuff when you first post it... !

Actually engage with others. Others are more likely to see you and engage with you when you do the same to them. If you never interact with anyone else's art why would others interact with yours. And unfortunately posting stuff and expecting people to just stumble upon it is not a very good strategy...

NB: I've wrote this post few years ago and now Boruto manga completely disappointed me so I'm not expecting anything for the Sarada's storyline.

HOWEVER my point still stands it's a missed opportunity to explore the specificity of female Sharingan user vs male sharingan user

Generally men reach power outside of themselves (yang): being the strongest physically, have the biggest muscles, the biggest weapons, having more territories, controlling more assets, more money, more partners ect... rather a female or yin version of power is about mastering internal war : controlling our own emotion, controlling who can have access to our body, setting boundaries to external threat. On the size of a society, yin power is psychological warfare. It means controlling people's opinion, who's right and who's wrong, who's trendy and who's corny, controlling media, controlling art, controlling social media's algorithm, controlling source of information. When people say derogatively that women are too talkative it's because everyone knows that a reputation is made or destroyed primarily by women talking to each others. They mastered emotional manipulation, illusion, fear, lies but also in the positive side they give love, they're emotional healer, therapist, forgivers, a natural flexibility and adaptibility to new situation ect...And the sharingan is perfectly wired for that, so technically female sharingan could have been be more powerful than their male users.

In the Naruto world the peak of yin power would have been to create a civil war inside Konoha, all clans and factions fighting each other. You don't even have to face your enemy face to face on a battlefield, it's imploding from the inside.

But oh well Kishimoto and writing female character... 1+1 =6

Why Izanami is the most powerful Genjutsu

I know it's not canon but I really love that Izanami had been created in the anime by an Uchiha woman, Naori Uchiha.

note the symbolic gesture of reaching for your opponent to come near her. To escape Izanami you have to surrender to her and to yourself

Metaphorically, Sharingan works like a defensive answer to an emotional agression : loss, trauma ect... It reaches domination onto other from the inside, by creating or taking others into powerful illusions.

And since we've exclusively seen men using the Sharingan at there finest Sasuke, Madara, Obito, Itachi to quote the best of them. We've seen the most masculine expression of the Sharingan. It's about breaking emotionally the opponent. They transform it into something strongly offensive.

Izanagi for instance is about defying death itself, while normally everyone is passive to death you have to submit to it at some point. But by resisting it turns as a very agressive jutsu. It's defying natural cycle of time.

Sasuke's speciality is the use of Amaterasu (Enton), born from his extensive burning hate for Konoha. Notice as well Hate and Passion are close feeling. Passion in etymology comes from the latin -pati meaning suffering, being tested, enduring. This emotion acts as a destructive fire who can't be extinguish except by love (water/emotion)

Madara even if (strangely) we don't know his speciality, there is no doubt that he uses it as a deadly weapon at a terrifying scale. By the way, his own powerful hate is vanquished by a Mother, Kaguya the Mother of all Shinobi, the original water.

Itachi trapped people inside his world, but chooses to torture them. not shows them their favourite dream.

Obito has probably the less aggressive version of Sharingan, Kamui makes the owner retreat even partially in an other dimension. but still it shows to be so efficient to...wiped out his own clan! And manipulating different people from far away location.

In the anime, Izanami is shown to be a female version of Sharingan and in my opinion it's the most powerful of all Sharingans. Can you imagine for a sec? you can change someone from the inside, by their own will? It's like a baptism. You kill his own self and bring them back to life as a new person. . They do their own introspection, face their own demons and make peace with themselves. The ultimate peacemaker.

That's why I'm expected a lot from Sarada (maybe too much). Symbolically, women are the best at understanding the Inton/Yin energy in depths. They are just naturally "built" to get easily in introversion. By the fact their reproductive organs are hidden, they are submit to internal cycles, they create live inside themselves, they receive their partner inside themselve ect... I'm not saying men can't do introversion, or can't be receiver but it's just coming more evident to women. In this logic I've always find it strange that there is no high level female users of Sharingan in the manga.

As an illustration, Itachi's tsukuyomi was imperfect when he was still alive. He can only kill them mentally but can't bring them back to life. It's only Edo Itachi understood his past mistake and by using Izanami on Kabuto, he reaches perfection in his own use of Sharingan. He destroyed Kabuto physically in escaping and cancelling Edo tensei and resurrects him as a new person rather than just killing him.

But now we have Sarada. And technically the last heiress since Uchiha clan seems to work as a patriarchal clan. I think her power will be something similar to Izunami but at a larger scale. Probably Itachi's story first and then Madara's story will have a different resonance on her than her father. Maybe she would solve what is blatantly missing in Naruto's world : Inner Peace. And who knows maybe in the end of Boruto, Sarada will sacrifice both her eyes and Sharingan users will disappear forever as a price to pay for reaching true peace.

I know they will never met, but wow their vibes together is so...🔥🔥🔥 ! Imagine if he was her sensei, the glow up👀

3) What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

This is a tricky answer…just bc my evil gremlin mc in the game has NOTHING to do with Eloise in my writing. I guess I would say her name? I was just thinking of what would be the most British sounding name I could think of when I started playing in December🙂‍↕️

But then my imagination took hold of me…I started thinking about Eloise’s backstory…and when I thought of how all of her family dynamics/how she grew up would influence her personality I started to be really dissatisfied with the game and the lack of choice we have while playing. SO I gave up on the game completely after the restricted section quest and started to use my free time to write my fic in January🥹🫶 but her backstory, personality, and role in my story are definitely the most interesting things about her to me!!

Bonus: my first ever drawings of her in January!!! Bad quality bc it’s an insta story screenshot😆💓 (I redid one for my fic🤭)

4) And reverse, which one of the four things did you struggle with the most?

Hmmmmm😭😭 I think her personality is what I struggled with the most and continue to struggle with as I write!!!! I always want her to feel like a *real* person with flaws, but ALSO convey to the reader why they should love her as much as I do. I think I’m successful bc I get comments/messages a lot from people telling me how much she resonates with them (and she’s some people’s favorite???😳💘) but I STILL CANT HELP BUT FEEL INSECURE ABOUT IT !!! It’s so hard sometimes keeping in mind how she is and how she thinks, and I never want her to be wishy-washy or doing things out of character for her. It’s a fun challenge but a challenge😭💓 (also her appearance changes like crazy in my art but whatever I’m learning😆)

At the sight of Imelda's worried face her throat contracted - Eloise found she couldn't speak - and she burst into tears again. They were rolling, hot and salty, down her cheeks and she hid her crumpled face back into the crooks of her arms. Imelda immediately wrapped her arms around Eloise, and she melted into her friend's embrace. Hands gently stroking her hair as she cried and cried and cried, murmurs whispered in soft Spanish to the top of her head.

She was overwhelmed, desolate, lonely.

I feel really bad for Eloise at this point in her story, but I also find it really interesting to keep poking her to see when she finally snaps and decides that she NEEDS to stand up for herself and what she wants. She hasn’t quite realized that she’s the only one who’s ultimately in charge of her life & I’m really really enjoying watching her become the person she’s meant to be🥹🫶🥹🫶

I'm making my way through System Collapse audiobook, and it's much easier both the second time around and than reading. This whole thing still feels too real too much, which makes me kinda passionately hate the book but in a way that I know isn't really hatred. I'm just experiencing a lot of emotions, okay. Listening to them create art, tell a story to make people see things from a new perspective is doing something to me.

I was ten when I decided I wanted to tell stories. I was thirteen when I figured out what kind of stories I wanted to tell, and yes the stories I wrote back then were kinda shitty but I reread half of those recently, at fourteen I already had the same kind of vibe that still appear in everything I ever created afterwards: shit happens, and people do mistakes, and it all just sucks, and you keep living, keep trying, keep holding on to hope.

I was a fucking teen and I knew I wanted to tell stories that would take the darkest most tragic situation and say: there's still kindness there. There's still hope. There's still future. I don't like whump or angst or anything just because I like to torture characters (tho I do, like to torture characters), but because shit sucks. shit sucks, and we keep living, and we keep finding joy in it all, and I want, always wanted, to have someone tell me -- to be the one to tell this to people, that yes. It sucks. It hurts. It's awful, and I see you, and I see the hopelessness, and it isn't hopeless anyway. It's all encompassing now and it's gonna change. If just one person read what I wrote and felt a little better, a little more seen, a little more hopeful, a little kinder -- that was all I wanted to achieve with my writing.

And the thing is: I feel like such a fucking failure.

Like okay. Objectively, rationally speaking, I'm twenty... right, twenty two as of now, which is young, but also it's fucking twenty two and it's longer than I expected myself to be alive, and it feels like I haven't done nothing. It feels like I'm never going to be able to do anything. It feels like it's ridiculous of me to even hope that I could do anything, especially with writing. Achieve something with my stories? Make someone think about new things? Make someone feel better? It's a ridiculous idea to aim for. That's what other people do, somehow, not me. The best I can settle is entertaining myself by torturing characters, which isn't gonna help anyone but hey if it entertains someone for five minutes it has to be worth something. It fucking has to be, I so honestly don't know why the hell I'm still alive, but it has to be worth something otherwise it's too depressing to consider.

But anyway. Then, there's System Collapse. There's this whole series, honestly, with the fairly background exploration of what media and art can mean to people, but here it's loud and impossible to ignore in the front of the narrative, and it resonates with me in ways I can't be comfortable with. It somehow fucking hurts to think about. Too many emotions and thoughts and just ugh. I'm not gonna be normal about this book any time soon, am I.

hello! i was busy this past week so i wasn't able to get much writing done until like a few days ago, but i wanted to let people know of a minor edit i made to one of my rules:

"you will be waiting a month or more for replies."

due to the number of threads and the sheer attention to detail of many of them require ( which i adore- it challenges and tickles my brain in all the best ways ) across four blogs, combining that with having writing outside of tumblr and other hobbies, it's just not possible for me to always get back to people quickly if they want good replies. and that goes for IMs as well. with shorter threads, i might be faster at replying, but 9 out of 10 times, that's not the case. i want to make sure you're aware of this if we are/do become mutuals.

typically though, i do try to get at least one or two replies done and some kind of activity each week across my four blogs...of course that's also dependent on what's going on in my life outside of tumblr too. but if i'm not active on this blog you'll most likely find some kind of activity on one of my three single muse blogs. feel free to follow calum and/or patrick's blogs if you wish in the meanwhile.
