idk I find it unique how people say “oh it’s so weird to see Patton without glasses” or “it’s weird to see Remus without a mustache” which is reasonable cuz all of them have something hiding a part of their face. Both Patton and Logan have the glasses, Remus have the mustache, Janus has the half snake face, Virgil had the eyeshadow, all of them have something showing a different facial appearance except for Roman

Sanders Sides Animal headcanons because I'm bored
I've been having a lot of thoughts about how Janus and Patton canonically have like, animal traits/feature. While Virgil and Remus only really have animals they're associated with as opposed to canon traits (as far as I'm aware/remember). And how Logan and Roman have no animal associations (again as far as I'm aware/remember). So I'm making headcanons for them organized from most to least 'canon' (in terms of the characters)
(also these are all with the intent of the sides being "humans with animal traits" as opposed to them like, animorphing)
Patton
Can jump the highest out of all the sides it's actually kinda scary
He can turn his legs into frog legs to jump even higher like my guy you do NOT need to be doing all that
He will eat bugs and he hates that fact about himself. One time while cooking dinner there was a fly in the room and he just, grabbed it and ate it without a second thought. He then proceeded to completely give up on life for the next 5 hours.
Virgil tried to bond with him over this and it only made things worse for both of them I think.
On a lighter note I think he makes ribbits and chirping sounds when he's happy or excited
but he will start croaking when he's in any kind of distress
He does have spots on his body, mostly on his back
Janus
I dont care what anyone says this I'm giving this man a rattlesnake tail
The tail isn't always visible like his scales, it's something he retract so he doesn't have to constantly deal with it. Honestly most of his traits that aren't his scales he can chose whether to present them or not
Definitely venomous but he doesn't really know why it does. (Logan was studying the sides' animal features and once he found out bout this, asked for a sample of his venom and proceeded to down it like a shot for research purposes. Neither of them had a good time that day)
Anyway his venom is basically an anesthetic, it will knock you out. (or in Logan's case make you horribly sick for the next 3 hours) (these headcanons were thought of before the latest incorrect quotes video I'm just that good)
Remus
He gives me blue ring octopus vibes
His body is definitely covered in ring patterns, generally they're kinda faded and look like old scares but he can make them more prominent and colorful
Also venomous, I think it would be a paralytic because something something sleep paralysis
Only has 6 tentacles 😔
His tentacles protrude from his back in basically the same way/places as Janus' arms
He can and will fit through any gap imaginable because no bones. He once forced his way through the gap under Virgil's door and he(Virgil) still has nightmares about it
he can regenerate his tentacles, this is often a result of his chopping them off for sushi jokes
Virgil
I feel like he's kinda a tarantula but I'm scared of spiders so I'm not very picky about the specifics
He also only has 6 spider legs (arms?)
They ALSO come out of his back in the same way as Remus and Janus' limbs
Can climb walls
CAN produce webs, but the come out of his fingers (sorry Remus), and they're a very light purple and kinda shimmery
He has sharp teeth, sorry I take no criticism
He does actually have fangs and chelicerae but he tries not to present those as much as it's definitely kinda freaky
Also willing to eat bugs 😔
oh oh oh he has stripes on his arms (horizontal)
HE HAS MULTIPLE EYES
Logan
He's definitely a bird
I know a lot of people make him either a crow or raven (which I totally understand), but I feel like he would be an owl, specifically a barn owl but that may just be the Mexican in me talking
Because of that, this man is dead silent when he moves, and has accidently given everyone heart attacks on multiple occasions
His wings are massive like you would not believe
I don't think he particularly cares for his wings much (i.e. grooming and preening), both because it's a really long and tedious process but also he kinda doesn't see the value in having animal traits, because of this he also doesn't really present his traits as much
He does grow feathers on different parts of his body, most notably on his chest/neck area, he's very self conscious about it
he can fully black out his eyes but it's not actually black it's just a really dark blue
Not really an animal traits hc, but Logan has absolutely gone to each of the sides like "I would like to study you 👁👁"
He does sometimes have very odd body language vecause of this, like he just kinda moves around weird (honestly just watch a video with a barn owl moving around and you'll see what I mean
OH he can turn his head around 270°, usually he uses this to scare the shit out of one of the sides if they are standing behind him
Roman
I'm gonna need yall to hear me out on this one but I feel like if Roman was gonna be associated with any animal it would be a deer
I'm specifically thinking a white tailed deer (not initially conceived as a Bambi reference)
He has bright red antlers and loooves presenting them once their freshly shed (fun fact deers shed their antlers)
That being said, he is actually super self conscious when he's shedding the velvet of his antlers (if you are squeamish about blood don't look it up) because it is 'gross and scary.' For a while Remus was the only one who knew about this.
He has a deer tail sorry I take no criticism
The fastest runner of the sides
he really enjoys just running around, like bro is actually the frolicer
He actually has a very faint darker patch of skin running up from the tip of his nose to his whole forehead (it sounds weird to explain in words but yall are just gonna have to trust me on this)
He has light spots on his back like how baby white tailed deer do

TODAYS TOPIC : Character Mischaracterisation and poor writing!
While I am no Sanders Sides critique (I am a little bit
) and these topics have been yelled about on the rooftops, I am Autistic and enjoy analysing things and complaining. I ADORE Sanders Sides and my favourite thing to do is make AUs with them so that I can change the story, put them in different scenarios, etc. mostly because there is little to no new material in Sanders Sides, it’s only left my imagination and me freaking out over Incorrect Quote videos.
And a while back I made a “theory” (headcanon) to cope with how bad the characters are getting, to which I shall paste + add extra little things to make it work better for the present!
“SO, as we know. Characters all across media are mischaracterised into something they’re not or something that only makes up 50% of them AS a character. The characters in sanders sides have this too! The Sides in specific because it’s hard to mischaracterise a self-insert.
BUT. Character Thomas (C!Thomas) is what makes the sides
sides. What he views them as is what they’ll present as because they are facets of Thomas and make up Thomas as a whole. So, in a way, C!Thomas controls how the sides present and act around 50%. The sides are still their own and their roles / facets will make them up more than Thomas can control!
So, Logan is a complex character, he’s Logical and he’s seen as cold, occasionally mean, and he’s heavily sought over by the fandom due to “recent” episodes in which we explore him being ignored and things like that, He’s a favoured character. But all people view Logan as is Cold, Deadpan, Monotone, and emotionless. They see him as nothing more than a bookworm who gets angry easily, they dumb him down. He’s a lot more complex but I won’t go into detail with that. — but, I feel like he was specifically written that way (We all know he wasn’t.) so that the fandom would SEE him like that because that’s how C!Thomas views Logan. He sees Logan as this annoying voice in the back of your head that tells you to get to work and to be proper, so that’s how Logan presents
Now, Before I go into the other sides, I just was say that this is purely theory (headcanon) and I know DAMN well Thomas is not a good enough writer to come up with this.
Now, Patton is one of. THE. MOST. Mischaracterised, especially in AU’s where he’s meant to be unsympathetic or in anything Fanon. But that’s not Thomas’ fault, however, in the first few episodes of the series, Patton was seen as nothing but the happy pappy dad character who is a little dumb, But that’s just how C!Thomas viewed Patton at first as well as seen In “Moving On” part 1 and 2! Because in those episodes, Patton talked about how he felt a bit forced to be nothing but the happy dad character who’s dumb but in that episode, everyone realised he is so much more and that he’s fairly smart too! He knows his stuff, he IS morality afterall.
So, after those episodes C!Thomas started to view Patton more and more like a complex person (though the fandom still struggles with Patton as a character, that isn’t Thomas’ fault) In SVS Redux, Patton is seen as one thing again because C!Thomas started to question his own morality which lead to him seeing Patton as a bad guy and Patton had a breakdown because of that, he wondered if HE was a good person or if Thomas was a good person. Thomas’ view on Patton shifted until the end where it calmed, though C!Thomas still sees Patton as mostly one thing, he’s trying so hard to see Patton as just happy again because he doesn’t want to see Patton as sad, unhealthy, or just overall as Morality itself.
And then Roman. Everybody saw him as the selfless dreamer at first until Virgil appeared, then fans started calling Roman mean and selfish because he was rude to Virgil before he became a coreside. Everyone see’s him as this one character who is constantly unable to accept the darksides as sides but in reality, he is the opposite! He’s selfless, he’s a hero, and a prince! His whole goal is to spread confidence towards others and make sure others feel welcome and accepted even if sometimes he has a hard time due to the fact his BROTHER is a darkside. But as episodes went on, Roman changed and changed. How C!Thomas viewed Roman changed! Like I said, at first he was sweet and selfless but he began to present ruder and ruder until Virgil was accepted, Then Roman stayed in a sort of neutral stance between mean and nice because Thomas couldn’t figure out how to view Roman anymore, but at the time he still saw Roman as his hero.
Then SVS Redux came. — those brief moments where Janus had called Roman and Patton out on things is where Thomas’ view shifted further. By the end of it when Roman insulted Janus’ name reveal, Thomas saw Roman as nothing but rude and mean for it and he understood why Janus retaliated the way he did. So as Roman sunk out, he presented less and less confident which showed his insecurity, he presented ruder and a lot more upset, less like a hero and more like a fallen solider who thought he was on the right side of the war. Because C!Thomas’ view about Roman had changed in that moment
And now Virgil! Virgil as a character is a complex guy! He’s a canon in between for Coresides and Darksides, and at first he was viewed as mean and uncaring and as a bother but as of Accepting Anxiety, that all changed because Thomas started to realise and see Virgil as an actual side, so he started to view Virgil as nicer and guess what? After AA (accepting anxiety), Virgil became nicer. Until Embarrassing Phases in which Virgil stood up for these view changes and didn’t want to be just mean or nice. He wanted to be viewed as neutral or as something more complex, Thomas realised this and his view on Virgil changed. For a short moment it was completely neutral where Virgil was just kind of.. there. But, then came Are There Healthy Distractions? In which C!Thomas is in a feud with a friend due to the friends past with being homophobic even if they aren’t now. Virgil was kickin’ up in that and making Thomas overthink. He was being a nuisance and Thomas viewed him in that moment as mean and annoying, so Virgil presented as such and snapped at Patton and the others, being anxious. But even after that, Thomas’ view didn’t change all that much because of how much that affected
Virgil was started to be seen as Mean again, so by the time Virgil revealed he used to be a darkside, All he wanted was to make sure Thomas knew what he was doing, he was trying to make sure Thomas didn’t elicit Janus and Remus to much because he knew it could be bad. But due to Virgil being so unaccepting of the darksides, Thomas’ views grew more and more which lead to Virgil being a lot meaner in episodes after that all and things like that
And then Janus
oh boy Janus. Janus is seen as Manipulative and Uncaring, wanting nothing more than to get at the coresides and take control but that couldn’t be more wrong. Janus is quite literally Self-Preservation which means he just wants to help Thomas care about HIMSELF rather than others, Janus is there as Deceit but Deceit can be good and bad, it depends on the reason for being Deceitful. But due to the fact that at first, Thomas viewed Janus as untrustworthy and manipulative, Janus presented AS such until SVS Redux! (Ik, this episode appears a lot LMAO) In SVS Redux, Janus appears at the end to show Patton that what he’s doing and thinking isn’t right and is only harming Thomas, Janus wants nothing more than for the others to trust him because he is a big part within Thomas. The darksides whole point is to bring out the ugly, Janus brings out physical ugliness and Remus brings out mental ugliness. The others don’t realise that the darksides are much more needed in Thomas as of recent. — so, as Janus reveals his name to gain the others trust, Roman makes fun of it (just like he did with Virgil) because he has a bad idea and history OF the darksides. Janus retaliates with “Oh Roman, thank god you don’t have a moustache! Otherwise, between you and Remus, I wouldn’t know who the evil twin is!” The thing is, We all know DAMN well that Janus doesn’t see Remus nor Roman as evil, but in that slight moment where Roman and Janus swapped places within Thomas’ views, Roman was seen as mean and Janus was seen as “just defending himself”
There was a small moment where those views and ideals swapped in which Thomas viewed Roman as the mean and selfish one and viewed Janus as the selfless understanding one. Then it was left in a neutral stance where Thomas felt confused on who was nice and who was mean but either way, in the end, Janus was accepted and the fandom started to also see Janus as nicer just as C!Thomas’ views changed
Now, I’ve been seeing a lot of discourse on the fact that Remus’ canon self is slowly becoming his Fanon self, and I agree! I agree so much and this ENTIRE rant stemmed from the fact that I couldn’t explain just how complex Remus is as a character. But, Everybody sees Remus as this trash rat goblin who strives for chaos and wants nothing more than to annoy everybody, which is true with about 60% of him. The other 40% is unexplainable as it hasn’t been explored enough to explain. In the episode where Remus was introduced, C!Thomas saw him as this complex monster, disgusting, strange, disturbing, and couldn’t understand how Remus was Roman’s other half, Thomas couldn’t understand how Remus was creativity, so as Logan helped Thomas through it, He began to accept and understand Intrusive Thoughts and agree that they’re normal. HOWEVER, what he failed to see was that Remus was still a side and wasn’t JUST intrusive thoughts. He encompassed more just like any other side would, So, C!Thomas began to see Remus as just this annoyance that wouldn’t go away, similar to how he sees Logan as this annoying voice in the back of his head, he sees Remus as this annoying thought that won’t go away and that he can’t repress so he may as well just let it be annoying. Let it tire itself out
Which lead to Remus presenting more how fans viewed him at the beginning. As nothing more than an annoyance that can’t be suppressed but at the same time, everyone knows that it’s not harmful which is why the fandom likes him so much and which is why C!Thomas is okay with Remus being around (in a way)”
Holy hell past me wrote a buttload, OKAY. — I do have a few notes; I am well aware that the sides lashing out, acting certain ways, and things alike are all in place for a reason as a part of their traits, but I just wanted to find a way to cope with how much the sides are becoming more like their fanon-selves, which isn’t good. The devolution of Janus’ makeup, the babying of Remus, the confusion with Logan, the completely ignoring of Virgils story, and Thomas leaning into ships like Moceit, Roceit, etc. (PLEASE STOP LETTING CREATORS LEAN INTO FANON SHIPS
PLLEEASSSE THEYRE FANON FOR A REASON)
Anywho, my point is; Thomas listens too much to his fandom, to the point he has taken how the fandom treats the characters and written it into the story. Yes, there haven’t been any canon episodes in like 3 fucking years, but even with the shorts, incorrect quotes, and Sanders Asides, these characters have been so clearly watered down even in terms of fucking costume. — I wasn’t even around for the 2018 - 2020 fandom of Sanders Sides, and yet even in the actual damn series I can tell what it was like!?

Based off of a conversation I've had with myself (though slightly changed to fit the characters and because my memory is trash)
Logan: What happened to our dreams? To our goals of success? Why did you abandon them? Why did you give up on them? I thought you were passion. What happened to our drive? We wanted to be something. Now look at where we are.
Roman: You aren't the only goals we had.
Logan: What do you mean?
Roman: Did you forget his dreams? *Gestures to an image of a younger version of Thomas and himself*
Roman: Did you forget his dreams came first. Our want to be an actor, a singer, a dancer, a writer. Did you forget that to them, success was chasing our creative dreams? Our goals of science came later.
Logan: Well, that would make sense. Kids often have foolish dreams.
Roman: Foolish?!
Patton: Now, now. Let's calm down.
Roman: No! I'm tired of listening to him tell me my dreams mean nothing.
Logan: Well, they do. They have no merit to them. We all already know that they will get us nowhere, but our logical goals of pursuing science would have brought us the success we dreamt of.
Roman: We wouldn't have been happy. He wouldn't have been happy.
Logan: He would have been fine. We would have been better than we are now.
Patton: Okay, why don't we agree to disagree? I mean, you both are making great points.
Roman: I'm just trying to pursue something that will make us happy! To figure things out!
Logan: And look where that got us.
Roman: *small and dejected* Why can't we be content with where we are?
The silence is loud. Maybe it's the fact that you could hear a pin drop, or maybe it's the flinch Thomas gave or the disappointed look Patton sent him. Maybe it was the look of hurt on Roman's face. Or maybe it was his own painful self-awareness. But suddenly, he feels guilty. The anger simmers down, and he realizes that Roman was right. He wasn't the only one who had goals for Thomas. He wasn't the only one who had to sacrifice things for the greater good for him. But it's too late to back track, and he was never good at admitting he was wrong.
Logan: Are we content? I don't see why we should have to settle for such a pitiful outcome, just because you decided to quit pursuing better options. Perhaps if you were less lazy or had let me take control, things would have worked out better.
Roman: *defeated and not making eye contact* You didn't offer any compromise. The only option was to quit. We would have been miserable if we kept on the path you wanted.
Logan: *sinking out* Like we aren't now.
And like always, he regrets what he said. And as always, he still doubled down.
Later, he'll pretend like nothing happened. Guilt will eat him up on the inside, and he'll wonder if he is the robot people say he is. Yet no apologies will be said. Later, Roman will cry himself to sleep after staring in the mirror, questioning if he is actually Thomas's hero. He'll create something from the pain and hide it in his special drawer. Later, Patton will play mediator like always. He'll act more cheerful and kind to cover the obvious tension but will not acknowledge it.
And after that, Logan will offer coffee to Roman in the morning and ask if he wants to brainstorm ideas. Roman will accept the extended Olive branch. No apologies said or offered, but accepted all the same. Roman will create a story about a scientist and will ask Logan to help make it believable. Of course, Logan will agree and pretend he doesn't know the reason behind the story. Patton will watch and finally feel relieved at the end of the tension. And the mindscape will once again breathe.
Until it happens again.
Because they are not content with where they are.
But why can't we be content with where we are?

Burned pt. 2
Made another part to the "Virgil leaving the dark sides based on The Line" fic. I recommend reading part one first.
TW: descriptions of injury, light angst (but mostly fluff), and argument (?)
Honestly
I thought I was fully prepared for
The threshold in store
Stay your pretty eyes on course
I guess I never really faced my fears before
So stay with me because
My body's on the line now
Pull the blanket tight now
I can feel the light shine on my face
-------------------------------------------
Logan wasn’t good with feelings.
It wasn’t that Logan didn’t have feelings or experience emotions, his function just took priority. When problems arose, Logan found it easy to set emotional reactions aside in order to take the next necessary steps. This tendency had caused a few arguments between him and his friends. Being emotionless during important discussions could come off as callous and made the others think that Logan cared less about them than he did.
But there were times when setting aside emotions to deal with a crisis could be useful. This situation was quickly turning into an opportunity for Logan to use his particular skill.
“How DARE those dark sides do this to OUR emo! This is down-right criminal! How could those villains, no, those SCOUNDRELS-!” Roman ranted endlessly, his voice growing progressively louder.
Virgil, meanwhile, sat motionless on the couch. Patton, distressed by Virgil’s declining state and Roman’s increasing frenzy, jumped into a mania of random tasks. Was he bringing Virgil a plate of
gummy bears? Nope. Patton was eating the gummy bears. Logan wasn’t sure how that would help.
With a sigh, Logan pat Virgil’s shoulder, hoping for a response. When there was none, Logan settled on his knees in front of the unresponsive side.
“Virgil, I’m going to look at the wound on your arm. I need you to be able to tell me if something hurts.” Logan stated. Again, there was no reply though Virgil tightened his posture as if he became more stressed.
“It’s okay if you aren’t able to speak right now. Or if you are unable to move much.” Logan gently took Virgil’s uninjured hand in his. “Can you squeeze my hand, Virgil?”
Virgil shifted slightly. Logan heard his breathing speed up.
“You don’t need to do much. Just a little pressure.” Logan waited patiently, then felt a slight squeeze on his hand.
“Well done, Virgil. Just like that. If I do something that hurts you, simply squeeze my hand and I will stop. Can you do that?” Virgil squeezed in response.
“Very well.”
Logan began his examination. It was obviously a burn, 2nd degree if he were to guess. But with a closer look, it became clear that the burn was created from extreme cold not extreme heat, a critical distinction.
The sound of metal scraping screeched through the air. Logan felt Virgil flinch at the sudden sound.
“I will defend the honor of our fellow side! Those Dark Sides have no idea what’s coming for them!” Roman declared.
“We don’t need any more violence, Roman! We need to take care of Virgil!” Patton corrected through a mouthful of gummy bears.
“Patton,” Logan interrupted. “I need you to get me a rag from the kitchen soaked in cool water. Make sure the water is not cold, but just below lukewarm.”
“Oh, okay! I’ll get right to it!” Patton jumped up, still holding gummy bears, and went into the kitchen.
“Roman.”
“Yes, Calculator Nerd?”
“I have a first aid kit in my room under the bathroom sink. I need you to bring it down here.”
“As you wish!” Roman sang as he ran up the stairs. As he exited, the room became blessedly quiet.
Virgil, who had been squeezing Logan’s hand throughout the ordeal, finally relaxed.
“You are doing very well, Virgil. Your burn looks to be caused by extreme cold instead of extreme heat, does that sound right?”
Virgil nodded slightly in response.
“It’s not too severe. We’ll warm your arm up progressively, and as long as you don’t pop the blisters, you’ll avoid infection and major scarring. I hope that soothes some worries.”
Virgil nodded again. His eyes seemed to be more focused, a good sign.
“I’m back! I hope this isn’t too cold!” Patton announced as he returned to the living room. Virgil tensed. His eyes darted, tracking Patton’s movement.Â ïżœïżœ
“Hand it to me, and try to keep your voice down.” Logan instructed.
Patton complied quickly. Once Logan determined the temperature was acceptable, he began to apply the wet cloth on the outside edge of the burn. Virgil hissed and flinched backwards.
“Oh no! Was it too warm? Too cold? What’s happening? Why is it hurting him?” Patton spoke quickly with sharp, fast breaths in between.
“What’s going on?” Roman asked, coming down the stairs with the first aid kit in hand. Logan opened his mouth to reply, but was quickly cut off by Patton.
“Something’s wrong! It might be getting worse!”
“It’s getting worse? Let me see!”
Virgil began hyperventilating as Roman and Patton crowded in making dramatic comments on the state of Virgil’s wound.
Logan stood in front of the two sides and firmly pushed them backwards. “That’s enough. You two are being unhelpful. You need to leave the room.”
“But Logan-” Patton whined.
“No. I don’t need excuses. You need to leave.”
“Don’t act like you’re the only one that can help! Virgil is our friend too!”
“Unless you know first aid, I am the only one that can help Virgil right now. When he’s feeling better, you may help him.” Logan continued calmly.
“No! You always act like you know better than us. Just because you’re Logic doesn’t mean you know everything!”
Logan rolled his eyes. “I don’t think I know everything. That’s ridiculous.”
“Oh, but you do think you’re better than us? I don’t hear you denying THAT part.”
Logan’s jaw tightened. “You are being impossible. Leave. I won’t ask again.”
Roman scoffed. “Fine. Be conceited. But Patton and I will come back here in TEN MINUTES, so
there.” Roman stomped up the stairs and Patton scuttled behind him.
Logan breathed deeply, trying to banish the anger that rose suddenly in him. He wasn’t conceited. Just because he knew how to help didn’t mean he thought he was better than everyone. Logan heard Virgil’s breathing in ragged bursts and he pushed down the anger. It wasn’t the time for messy emotions.
Virgil was curled into the couch, breathing rapidly with his eyes screwed firmly shut. Logan settled next to him.
“Virgil?”
“Is it really getting worse? You said it would be fine. Did you lie? Will it be fine?” The words tumbled out of Virgil’s mouth rapidly.
“I didn’t lie, Virgil. Your arm is not getting worse, nor is there anything wrong.” Logan placed his hands on Virgil’s shoulders. “You may relax.”
Virgil breathed deeply and relaxed. He unwound slightly, sinking into the couch. Seeing Virgil somewhat calmer, Logan retrieved the cloth and the first aid kit from the ground.
“I- I’m sorry for freaking out.”
“You have no need to apologize,” Logan replied simply. He placed the cloth on Virgil’s arm slowly. The anxious side flinched, but didn’t pull away.
“It burns. Is that bad?” Virgil asked softly.
“No. It's completely natural. Your skin is much colder than the water in the rag so it stings as your body tries to warm up. It would be the same if you were to spend a long time outside in the cold and then pick up a steaming cup of hot chocolate.”
“So even though the rag is cold, it still burns because my injury is so much colder?”
“Exactly right,” Logan stated. “Is it still burning?” “Not really. It just feels normal now.”
“Good.” Logan removed the cloth and looked over the wound again. Though it was still a bad injury, it was far from the worst. There was no discoloration to suggest frostbite and the blisters were mostly gathered on the outside of the hand print. Logan’s heart ached at the thought of how Virgil received the injury.
“Is something wrong?” Virgil questioned.
“No. I am rather optimistic about your recovery.” Logan offered a smile to affirm his point and pushed aside his own worried thoughts.
“Do I need to do anything or whatever?”
“I will apply some ointment and bandaging. All you need to do is stay warm and do your best not to rupture the blisters. Though, even if they do break open, it wouldn’t be a critical injury so please don’t overstress yourself.”
Virgil chuckled softly. “You know me too well.”
Logan smiled as well. After a small warning, Logan disinfected the wound and began to wrap it gently in gauze. Virgil held perfectly still, so the process was quickly completed.
“There. All finished. Shall I call Roman and Patton down?”
“No!” Virgil’s voice warped. “I mean
 I just need a minute.”
“That’s alright. Is there anything I can do to assist?” “No, I just-” Virgil groaned and ran his hands over his face. “They’re gonna want answers and I don’t even know what happened to me yet! I’m so tired of questions.”
“You don’t need to tell them anything,” Logan stated simply.
“But they’ll ask! And I think-” Virgil’s voice cracked. His eyes became unfocused and misty. “I think I’ll be here for a while so I can’t just not tell them.”
“Virgil, do you believe that Roman, Patton, and I know everything about each other?”
Virgil shifted. “I mean, you basically do, right?” “Falsehood.” Logan stated. “We know quite a bit about one another, but there are things each of us would rather keep private.”
“Isn’t that wrong though? To keep secrets from each other?”
“A key part of a secret is that it involves hiding information that affects others. Having parts of your life that are private is not the same as lying or secret-keeping.”
“But this does affect you guys! If I tell you and we, I don’t know, figure out some way to send me back, then you all won’t have to put up with me
” Virgil’s voice trailed off.
The heartache that Logan felt earlier returned in two-fold. For a moment, emotion broke through logic, and Logan clearly saw his friend feeling scared and unwanted. He saw Virgil look at him with fear in his eyes, and Logan would not stand for it.
“Virgil, you are my friend.” Logan said the first words boldly, then stalled. “I- um, I am out of practice with comforting words. But, I want you to know that staying with us would be no hardship. You are not an intruder nor a stranger. If this became your place of residence, I- we would not be, um, upset.”
Logan looked at Virgil to see how his speech was received and saw an indecipherable expression on his friend’s face. Logan flushed with embarrassment. “I will go get the others. They are much better at this sort of thing.” He turned toward the stairs with his face burning.
“Logan, wait!” Virgil called.
Logan turned around slowly.
“Ugh, I’m not good at this either,” Virgil sighed. “But um
thanks for not freaking out and, y’know, fixing my arm and stuff. You’re, like, a good friend.”
Warmth spread through Logan’s chest with alarming suddenness. He was a good friend? “Thank you, Virgil,” Logan replied stiffly. “I will
I will get the others now.”
The warm feeling persisted as Logan ascended the staircase. It even stayed when he found Roman and Patton fighting over the qualities of blankets. Logan explained quickly to the others Virgil’s desire to not talk about how he received his injury. The other sides accepted that request begrudgingly. Logan gathered some of the blankets into his arms to take to the living room when he was stopped by Roman.
Roman was hunched slightly. He shifted uncertainly which admittedly looked silly as he had an armful of blankets and a stuffed rabbit in his arms. Patton slipped out of the room silently, cueing Logan that this would be a serious conversation. A few moments of tense silence passed.
“Lo, I didn’t mean what I said earlier. I got stressed when I saw Virgil hurt. Sorry.” Roman apologized awkwardly.
“It’s alright, Roman.”
“Good,” Roman said, but he remained hunched over. “I don’t even know why I said that stuff in the first place.”
For the second time that day, Logan found himself searching for words of comfort. Instead, all that came to mind were facts.
“There are five different responses to stress. There’s flight, fight, freeze, flop, and fawn.”
“What does this have to do with-”
“You exhibited the fight response today,” Logan cut in. “Normally, the fight response acts to remove a danger. And, since there was no visible danger to remove, your brain chose to use that energy elsewhere, which made you say things you normally wouldn’t say to me.”
“So that means
”
“It was a fear response. Nothing more.” Logan restated. “I know you didn’t mean the words you said.”
“Oh
Thank you, Logan,” Roman stated happily. “BUT, whether it makes sense or not, I will behave better next time. You have my word.”
“I’d rather there not be a ‘next time’, but I appreciate the sentiment,” Logan replied simply.
Roman chuckled. “That would be nice.”
They moved down the stairs together to find Patton beginning his attempts at a pillow fort. Virgil was smiling watching Patton repeatedly knock over the cushions. Roman dramatically swept in to “rescue” the pillow fort. Logan deposited his own blankets, then noticed the copious amounts of candies in the living room and left to find more suitable food.
In the kitchen, Logan collected some healthy snacks and water for the group. He could hear Patton and Roman’s laughter mixing with Virgil’s low sarcastic remarks. The laughter gave way to music and Logan guessed a movie had been turned on.
Logan returned to the living room, refreshments in hand. He found the three sides tangled together under a canopy of blankets. The Nightmare Before Christmas played on the television, though it wasn’t being watched. Roman and Patton chatted idly over the top of Virgil, who was struggling to stay conscious.
“Is your arm alright?” Logan asked quietly.
Virgil gave a lazy thumbs up. Logan was happy to see Virgil’s arm still securely wrapped in bandages.
“Do you think you can drink a bit of water?”
Virgil nodded, so Logan passed him a glass. He drank slowly while the other two pillaged the snack tray.
“Thanks, Logan,” Virgil said as he passed back the cup.
“Yeah! Thanks, Logan!” Patton chimed in.
“Are you going to join the snuggle puddle?” Roman asked.
“We’re takin’ naps,” Virgil added sleepily.
“In a moment,” Logan promised.
He took the empty tray back into the kitchen and quickly cleaned the mess. Next, Logan did a brief check in on Thomas. A change this severe ought to have some impact on their host. Thomas assured Logan he was fine, albeit a little tired. Logan easily coaxed him into a nap. With Thomas settled, Logan finished the last loose ends; placing the first aid kit in its proper place, ensuring there was plenty more burn cream, and adjusting Thomas’ schedule to allow for the day's disruption. Finally, Logan managed to change into comfortable clothes and return to the living room.
The Nightmare Before Christmas had finished and returned to the home screen. Afternoon sun settled over the blanket canopy, dancing over the three sleeping sides. Roman, Patton, and Virgil were entwined and splayed haphazardly on the ground, each of them wearing an expression of utter contentedness. The warm feeling rose up in Logan’s chest once again at the peaceful sight. Carefully, Logan pulled the blanket to fit snugly over his three friends.
Logan slotted himself next to Patton who remained sound asleep. There were things to be done, as always, and the events of the day were far from resolved. But, as Logan lay in the structurally unsound pillow fort with the sun shining on his face, he decided to stay, even if it wasn’t the most logical.

We're Here and We're Queer // Sanders sides modern teen AU
CHAPTER 1 - queer teens have immense crushes on each other and wont fucking CONFESS ALREADY.
<Next chapter coming soon>
CW: implied abuse, and intrulogical being intrulogical (mostly Remus)
Ships: Logan x Remus, Roman x Virgil, Remy x Janus, Emile x Patton
Patton was sitting in his room in front of the mirror, trying to make his light cyan hair look good, but it was too messy. He sighed, the reflection of his soft blue eyes staring at him from the mirror. "I hate this" he whispered. He sighed again and got up, going to his closet and taking out his favorite top, a baby blue vest with a white button-up. He put it on and grabbed his school bag and walked downstairs to get some breakfast.
There wasn't much to eat at home, even though the Mor family (which Patton was part of) had a lot of money. He decided to eat some overly-sugary cereal with lactose free milk (because he's lactose intolerant). When Patton finished eating, he could hear his father walk up the stairs. He quickly washed the dishes he used and placed them neatly on the dish rack. He checked the time, '8:10' was what the clock read. "You're late to school again." his father exclaimed as he entered the room. Patton started breathing heavily, scared of what his father might do. "I-i was just leaving!" He grabbed his bag and ran out the house before his father could do anything. He ran all the way to school, not wanting to be even more late.
- - -
Virgil was sitting in the back of the class with his small dagger shaped fidget, barely listening to the teacher. He was waiting for the break so he could hang out with his friends. He and his older brother, Logan, have recently moved into this city, and a group of students have accepted them in as one of their own. Virgil always doubted if they actually liked them or if it was just because they're new, but at least he'll make the most of it. After two long and boring math classes, it was finally break time. Virgil put all his stuff in his locker and grabbed his food from his bag. He ran to the back of the school, which was where the group always stayed while in there. Roman, Patton, and Remus were already sitting and chatting there. Virgil was hesitant to approach, not wanting to intrude. Then, he suddenly felt a hand touch his shoulder. He jumped and let out a squeak, turning around to see... His older brother, Logan!
"Lo.. don't ever do that again" he tried to sound intimidating but he was so much smaller than him. "What did you get?" Logan asked, pointing at Virgil's lunchbox. "Oh- umm, it's just some bread with a piece of cheese on it" Virgil answered. "You know, you need to eat more than that, Virg" Logan's tone seemed harsh, but Virgil knew Logan cared a lot about him. They both walked over to the group, and sat down next to them.
"Virgil! Logan!" Patton called, happy to see his friends. "Hello!" Remus called as well, only happy to see Logan. "Hi..!" Roman whispered quietly to Virgil, blushing slightly. "Hey, Roman.." Virgil responded, hoping his makeup hides his red face. "Ree, is that new?" Virgil asked, pointing at the collar on Remus' neck. "Why won't you ask your brother~?" Remus responded, making a flirty face to Logan. "Ew- you could've just said yes" Virgil wanted to throw up thinking about his brother and Roman's brother having... Adult times. Remus scoffed. "Has anyone seen Barry? We were supposed to study now but he's not responding to my texts." Logan quickly changed the topic. "Probably still asleep, he oversleeps constantly" Remus responded, taking out his bottle (that's full of some blue liquid that seems full of sugar) and taking a sip. Logan is disgusted by the drink, but moves on, "he's usually here by now..." he checks his phone's notifications again. "Ugh, why does it matter? We're having a conversation here now" Remus rolled his eyes.
There was silence for a few seconds, only the sounds of Patton's chocolate chip cookies in his mouth were heard. "Wassup nerds" Janus sat next to his younger brother, Patton, and placed his bag of oatmeal cookies besides him. "Good morning, Jan" Remus smiled. Virgil and Roman rolled their eyes, they both disliked Janus a bit too much. Janus flashed a sarcastic smile back at them both, raising the tension.
"hey, Remus, may i speak to you in private?" Logan asked, cutting the tension. "Ooo~" Remus smirked. "About a serious topic. Now." Logan hurried. "Alright alright" Remus got up, and Logan followed. They both walked inside the building, they were out of sight in a moment. "Well.... Uh, Roman, did you see the vid i sent you?" Virgil asked, attempting to start a conversation without Patton or Janus. "I did! Wait- we're talking about the dnd one, right?" Roman hurried to clarify, and Virgil nodded, "yeah so i did watch it, it seemed really interesting! I'd love to do a game with you some day" Roman blushed. Virgil smiled awkwardly, wanting to show Roman his years of campaign planning just for him, but he knew it'd seem weird. "Hey, lovebirds, there are more people sitting with you" Janus exclaimed, signaling at himself and his brother. Roman and Virgil both burst into denying chatter, while Patton giggled to himself. They all spent the rest of the break talking about some math teacher that got pregnant from a different teacher. Remus and Logan didn't come back.
- - -
At the end of the school day, as Patton walked out, he saw two cute boys talking right outside the school's gate. He took a deep breath and approached them. "H-hey! My name is Patton, and I think you look really cool, wanna be friends?" He asked, seeming as innocent as a baby. The taller one chuckled, "sure. Im Remy, this is my twin brother, Emile" he smiled, and took a sip out of his coffee. Emile smiled a bit, already knowing he's got feelings for Patton, he always saw him around, hanging with hus classmate, Virgil, and he always seemed so sweet and caring. It was obvious he liked puns, just perfect for him. "He's awkward" Remy whispered to Patton, and preceded to be slapped by Emile. Patt giggled, but in a friendly way rather than a bullying way. Thats when Janus whispered into Patton's ear, "we need to get home, bitch" and laughed.
"LANGUAGE!!" Patton shouted. Janus just kept laughing. "Sorry, uh, this is my brother, Janus" he explained to his new friends. "Is Janus your actual name?" Emile asked, his sweet honey colored eyes glowing with curiosity. "Nope, its Julia. But i really hate that name, so i changed it. Too feminine" Janus explained, grabbing Patton's hand, "now, me and my beloved brother need to head home. See ya!" he dragged him off to the bus stop.
- - -
"he was amazing!!" Emile called, flapping his hands. "His brother was hotter." Remy replied, sipping his coffee like the bad bitch that he is. "Sometimes i really dont get how you're my twin brother and not some distant uncle of an uncle" Em joked. "What can i say, I'm the Picani with the most personality" Remy flipped imaginary hair (his hair is too short). "Pfft, yeah, right. You dont even know what you're gonna do next week, i already know what im learning in college." Emile joked as they both started walking home.

Fun story, I asked for what kinds of donuts people would see the characters eating for an intruality fic a couple weeks ago, (which I'm still working on btw) and a chapter was going to be set inside a donut shop. The donut shop was going to be heavily inspired by one in my hometown. However, a week later the shop in question decided it was going to burn down :/

Can you do "Schrödinger's Union"? That's probably my favorite way I've heard their relationship described. Oh, for the bingo btw.
Yes, absolutely, I would love to talk about Schrödinger's Union, I'm glad you appreciate my nickname for them.
Tumblr media
The most married and also divorced couple of all time.
I also just noticed I forgot to mark off affectionate or derogatory on toxic but tbh yeah. They can be whatever you want them to be. This, that, and/or the other thing.
Um, so, what can I say? They're both care taker types and could use someone to take care of them. They would have that kind of understanding. They also need to gossip with each other, probably about the creativitwins comparing stories, but they talk about Virgil a lot too. I think I started writing a fic about this somewhere, it feels very familiar to mention. (Should I just go crazy and start posting the first chapters of all my WIPs? lmk)
You could also encounter a problem where they focus too much on helping each other, making each others jobs harder, buring out, creating resentment, etc. Y'know... If you wanted to.
And I feel like them being married but also divorced is a popular opinion so idk how much I need to explain that in particular but if you just watch them interact and the way they talk about each other, they know each other intimately. They care about each other. They also annoy the piss out of each other and would have the most passive aggressive arguments. This is kind of peak Patton for me. Let Patton be a bitch 2k24. (We all know you're capable, Patton, let loose for me just one time.)
I think they could be good friends too. I'm a sucker for the 'guy who is all about self preservation meets someone they didn't actually mean to let in but would now do anything for dynamic'. I'm the sucker for the 'guy who is struggling with self image and confidence meets someone they originally think is mean but then realize that they're just uncompromising on their values and one of their values is themself dynamic'. They're so 'morals are important, but what good are morals if they kill you for nothing' and 'protecting yourself is important but what good is protecting yourself if you never experience the joys of life and connection with others'. They're just balanced in that good, good way. They strike me as classic western grizzled cowboy (Janus) and farm boy who just lost his parents but everyone in the community has been helping out (Patton).
At the current point in mainline canon it seems like they'll be hanging out more. That will be fun. It's great to get them in a room together.
I think that's all I can manage for now, I've been trying very hard to write this but my brain has been absolutely fried recently. As always, anyone can feel free to jump on, it would probably prompt my brain into making coherent thoughts lol.

thanks to @rambling-prince-thoughts i'm now willing to share a full analysis on remus (the whole gang is here!). i wish my own personal headcanons and things i've found in canon can help people understand how complex remus actually is.
cw for religious commentary, bible quotes and remus being remus.
disclaimer: i'm catholic. this is not, in any way, meant to impose my religion. remus holds way too many references to the bible for me to not mention it. if this isn't for you, it's 100% okay to turn away from this post. don't leave hate when you can just ignore it. the reason behind saying i'm catholic is to show famders they can have faith and still kin remus the way i do! there's nothing to feel guilty about, intrusive thoughts just make you human 💚
so to quote our favorite trash rat: "let's start from the beginning!"
this will follow the story of cain and abel from genesis 4, which remus mentions in dwit. i'll color code who represents who according to both canon (the twins) and personal headcanon (c! thomas):
cain - remus / abel - roman / god - c! thomas
in 4 genesis 4:4-5 we see that one day, after working hard on their respective jobs, cain and abel present their creations to god. he looks proud at abel's work, but he doesn't with cain's. this makes cain angry. let me remind you green is the color of envy. we know thomas favored roman over remus' creativity during dwit, we see remus get upset over everyone constantly thinking of his work as useless or unwanted.
later, in 4 genesis 4:6-7, god questions cain's anger and tells him that only if he does the right thing, he will be accepted. if he doesn't, sin will try to consume him and cain needs to rule over it. i love the choice of words here: right thing, accepted and rule. everyone was shutting remus up, telling him how awful he was and how bad the things he said were. if only remus could be more like his brother, then maybe he could be accepted.
i have a whole headcanon on the "rule over it" part. i think remus just went insane. you see, during the split, remus got all the "bad" parts of creativity. not only that, but just like roman got thomas' ego, remus got the intrusive thoughts. the way virgil has his own anxiety. i'm convinced remus has his own intrusive thoughts.
at one point, the intrusive thoughts became so loud, he had no other option but to embrace them. in the genesis, god wants cain to resist against sin. remus in this case didn't resist, he took control over his thoughts instead of letting them consume him. he clearly knows what having intrusive thoughts feels like and that hurt him and scarred him real bad. he is okay now with being called demented, he ruled over the intrusive thoughts.
you can see there are moments where remus seems uncomfortable when they talk about intrusive thoughts. his role is creativity, but he is cursed with intrusive thoughts. talking from personal experience, i can see his distress. the screams, loud laughs and stimming. all in an attempt to shut up those thoughts, but sometimes they become too much and they have to get out. the worst part is that you blurt out horrible things like cannibalism and murder. people around you don't understand and they think you mean it. virgil was very right and very wrong when he asked: "but are they opinions that matter?"
yes, the intrusive thought itself doesn't matter. but it's not okay to imply remus' words and opinions don't matter just because he blurts out these things. he matters as much as roman, his brother deals with being the ego and pride. remus has his own issues too that should not be ignored or ruled out as "not important".
immediately after that, in 4 genesis 4:8-12, cain kills abel. god condemns cain to a life where his work will never bear fruit and he will be a restless wanderer. in the "5 years later" video, remus says: "did you know how bored i was before you decided to confront me? all i did was walk around and look for stuff in your head to fuck with!". which implies remus was free to wander around the mindscape, but couldn't be listened to by thomas until he wanted to. which happens in dwit since the thoughts became too much to ignore.
here's something really cool. in 4 genesis 4:14-15. cain says to god: "from your face i shall be hidden. i shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me." god replies: “not so! if anyone kills cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” which in the context of what we saw in dwit, means that remus was okay to stay in the dark, but anyone who dares to go against the duke's work will suffer the consequences. we know this because the more the others tried to force him out, the more powerful he became.
(there seems to be an islamic interpretation which says that the devil whispered to cain: "hit abel's head with a stone and kill him", which i found very interesting considering roman took a morning star to the head and the whisper in thomas' head. but i know nothing about it, so i can't confirm it's true.)
i don't believe in patton or janus keeping him locked away, because c! thomas has more power than people give him credit for. remus explicitly says thomas made him the way he is, logan points out it was him who decided to split creativity: "at a young age, you filed away products of your imagination as either welcome or forbidden." it is during clbg that roman says to thomas: "you have to give us permission first..." and virgil says "you are the boss, thomas. any information you want to know, you can know. you just have to be open to hearing it."
imo, thomas doesn't know anything about himself and the things he can do. the sides are there to guide him, but i don't think any side has the power to keep something hidden from thomas if thomas himself wants to learn. the reason the sides were able to out janus was because thomas gave his permission, but in dwit the sides didn't want remus to show himself. it was thomas who allowed him in.
let's go re-watch dwit for the fifth time this week:
when he sings: “and since you haven’t puked yet, we'll know they're wrong when they call you sick.” i think it's a nice metaphor to say from the very start that “since you haven’t acted on these thoughts, they'll see there's nothing wrong with you”. he also sings about people not liking him, which makes me wonder about past experiences he had with the sides. he can also be talking about how a lot of people dislike intrusive thoughts and dark creativity.
“good and bad is all made-up nonsense!” makes sense even for me! i don't believe in heaven or hell as physical places, but rather states of self when we are alive. when you're a good person to yourself and others, you can be at peace, but you'll have a harder time if you're bad. good and bad are not extremes, they are a gray mix. just because something is seen as good or bad doesn't mean it is in some cases. intrusive thoughts are seen as bad, but they can be fun! maybe you got a meme pop into your head and started laughing? or how about being in a conversation and an intrusive thought finishes the other person's sentence and you can't keep a straight face because of how stupid it sounds?
the tree of good and evil from the genesis (also known as the tree of knowledge/tree of life) is known for the belief that indulging in pleasure is immoral, but that belief often comes from people who are not religious. good and evil actually represent “the everything”, adam and eve gained knowledge instead of just pleasure. the knowledge to see what's right and wrong, a moral compass and tons of wisdom. for example, without the fruit they would never be able to punish criminals. this tree also represents the mixture of good and evil that creates mortality. janus offering a morsel (fruit) from the tree to thomas or any side means: do not put good and evil into separate boxes, embrace your humanity, what makes you human and your life will be easier.
janus representing the snake is actually genius because he is deceit and no one will trust deceit, but janus represents someone who wants to show the truth. so to make him the lord of the lies is truly evil, mr. sanders. remus represents the truth, but he is also given an evil role. they both are there to give thomas the fruit that will allow him to be more honest and direct dealing with his issues, so that he no longer deceives himself about the ugliness within him. in that scene, while janus seems to be talking to remus, remus sings janus' part. to me that can be interpreted as: janus and i had a talk and here's how we help thomas.
remus talks about how every mortal sins and dies at some point, but they try to deny it and ignore it. remus saying he will still be there even if thomas is alone can represent how no matter how much we isolate ourselves from sin, it will always be there as part of the human psyche. might as well accept that fact now.
remus asks him: "why do you want to stifle your own creativity?" which can perfectly mean: "why are you denying and ignoring a part of yourself that can be good?" dark creativity can be amazing! take a look at your favorite horror films and games, tragic novels and dramas. they all use a perfect combination of remus and roman's creativity. without one of them, we would never have these things.
laughing at your own intrusive thoughts can be a sign of you hating those thoughts, but being so used to them you don't care anymore. remus obviously knows what it's like to hate them and try and force them out, lot of good that did him! he realized repression is horrible. you don't need to act on these thoughts, you can get them out by writing them down in a journal or saying them out loud in private. trust me, it feels way better than keeping them inside.
i really like remus recognizing he is not scary, but instead, people are scared of him. if anyone needs to hear this: you're not a freak or a monster for having intrusive thoughts or any dark interest, or both! remus is just trying to be himself and deal with a very human thing a lot of us can relate to. thats why he makes me feel like i'm not alone in this <3
i think remus threatening logan to shut up is because he thought logan would attempt to convince thomas to repress his thoughts the same way patton did. i really like that logan continues to teach amazing lessons on intrusive thoughts, why the duke is important and we can see remus listening to him without interrupting. until the last part where he is just a brat.
just remus saying there is no rhyme or reason to what he does is enough for people to remember intrusive thoughts are mostly meaningless, like virgil said. they just happen. don't take them too seriously or think too deeply about them.
i want to point out that remus becomes distressed when logan says his contributions are intrusive thoughts instead of a different creativity. like
remus just couldn’t convince anyone, not even logan, of his job. no wonder he acts like a brat in wtit. the one side who was closest to understanding him, ended up being just like the rest of them. stubborn and repressing his own feelings, that seems to be a recurring theme with our boys.
remus is able to be gentle, we can see that when he listens to virgil at the end of dwit. that genuine smile and eye contact (which he avoids for most of the episode), the calm chuckles compared to the loud laughter from before and sweet tone of his voice
it's clear that whatever happened between virgil and the dark sides, remus doesn't think ill of him. i could almost believe he misses him. i think that whatever happened, it was between virgil and janus. remus had nothing to do with it and virgil knows that. in the "happy fifth anniversary" celebration, virgil looks amused at remus. i think he misses him too.
in wtit, i absolutely adore how remus uses real traps for thomas to represent how intrusive thoughts can trap you in an endless loop of hurting. i love that he can just give thomas the thoughts without any effort, but he uses his creativity to have fun with his other job and be extra dramatic. the fact he can attack other sides, summon beings like real people or monsters AND control them, that makes me wonder how powerful he truly is. it can be a unique aspect of the twins and i would love to see more of that in future videos.
remus is not scary. i've seen scary people and remus is not it (it's what he represents that scares others). he is silly and playful, extra and dare i say, more dramatic than roman. there's a lot of curiosity from him that i believe comes from his constant intrusive thoughts, he also seems to be knowledgeable in specific topics. he is very genuine in the way he expresses himself, not really hiding anything. he is so unique and eager to spend time with the sides.
he also acts in a way that reminds me of how loneliness can affect someone when they finally interact with others. his poor ability to read the room and how others feel, the little control he has over how loud his voice can get, the constant need for attention. all signs of being neurodivergent spending a long time by himself.
remus tries to teach a lesson to logan about how he can't do everything by himself. sadly, remus is the only side around for some reason (i guess the others had a ddr tournament) and logan refuses to acknowledge remus as a potential helper. instead, he keeps seeing him as an antagonist in thomas’ day, which he is. i think remus could potentially be against thomas after being denied acceptance by the others. that's why i would love to see remus become orange’s ally in his way to create chaos. in dwit he does say he wants to wreak havoc. the dance scene can be seen as another battle between sides, logan winning because logic can be a powerful tool against the irrationality of intrusive thoughts. but since it's logan who is being affected by orange’s influence, i wonder what that will do to logan’s power over remus.
remus tried to be accepted before and he was refused the opportunity, he tried a last time in dwit and failed once again. i think he is fed up at this point, that's why he feels like such a threat in wtit. he doesn't seem to care that he is creativity anymore, instead leaning more into his role as intrusive thoughts and using his creative power to make those stronger. he looks PISSED when logan tries to talk to him at the end of wtit. he clearly doesn't trust him nor believes logan is being honest.
remus says “you're going to pretend that i don't exist, so i'll pretend you don't exist.” and logan goes about how everyone has their own role, but still cannot see remus as creativity and remus is just so mad at him and the others for that. the sides think they're acknowledging remus by accepting him as intrusive thoughts, when in reality, they're denying his main role. it's the same thing that happened with virgil, in denying virgil as helpful and thinking he was only anxiety (which is perceived as a bad thing), they saw the effects of no anxiety at all and how much virgil protected thomas.
i really like remus getting interested in logan when orange shows himself. i see it as remus finally seeing a flawed logan, which can allow sympathy since remus is extremely flawed. logan showed him he is repressing something and who is remus but an advocate against repression?
roman and remus’ relationship is extremely interesting, putting all the cain and abel parallels aside, i think they love each other the way siblings do. they banter and annoy each other to no end. roman says he doesn't like him at the end of dwit, but it's so obvious he is in denial. he doesn't want to admit someone like remus is his twin and that he is fond of him despite his weirdness. i want remus to close roman’s arc, i want remus to help roman understand that it's okay to not be perfect and still be a good creativity. if anyone can help roman feel less insecure about himself, it's his twin.
roman says remus shows him everything he doesn't want to be. remus is flawed and happy to be seen as such. roman struggles so much to keep up the mask of perfection and when he sees how happy his brother is being flawed, he hates it. the little things that make roman insecure, remus embraces them and roman can learn so much from him. they likely share a room, they spend time together or at least, remus whispers into his ear waaay too much. if you go back to episodes before dwit, you'll see how defensive roman gets over things he said that others disapproved off, clearly being influenced by his twin. i think the realization roman talks about it's not only remus being the one to influence him, but also that remus represents more than he thought he did.
i think we can all agree with roman that sometimes we see ourselves in the mirror and we see the parts that makes us flawed, we hate them and want to turn away from them instead of accepting them. remus makes people uncomfortable because the truth is, most of us see something in him that we try to deny. be it the intrusive thoughts, the dark creativity
or something as simple as having an annoying laugh. we will always be able to love ourselves and quicky find something that we hate. not because it hurts us, but sometimes
because others have hurt us for being this way. i'm autistic and i know how harsh the world can be to people who are different, but remus made me feel seen. he made me feel valid for being me! he always makes me laugh and most importantly, he makes me feel safe <3
the most beautiful thing about remus is how freely he is himself. people will try to stop you from being who you are at heart, they will call you a freak and try to shut you down. if you take one thing from remus (even if you don't like him or sympathize with him) is that true happiness can be found in allowing yourself to be who you are. without a care in the world, because the only person who can judge you is yourself. no one else. you know yourself better than anyone else, so be happy and go feral if you want. as long as you're living true to yourself and staying safe 💛
go ahead and eat that second cookie, you earned it đŸȘ✹ if you don't like cookies, go grab something you enjoy. reward yourself for staying strong against this mess we call world. thank you for reading! i hope you have a wonderful day/night ⛅

closing in
Logan had their hands held tight against their ears. Their ever-clean glasses were now dripping, dirty and covered. They stumbled around blindly, bumping into the walls they were trying to avoid. Their eyes were shut. Barred from seeing the outside. They couldn't. The walls were getting closer and Logan didn't want to bear witness to it. They were trying to get out. They could feel their hands behind the wallpaper stretching, reaching for them. They wanted to make Logan like them. The wallpaper was tearing. It was ripping apart from the seams, and they couldn't avoid the bodies that were bursting out. The walls had closed in. They were stuck in a box. A ragged, dirty box, full of filth and lies and ignorance. It was trapping Logan, grabbing at them with the hands and limbs and horror that lurked within.
They all wanted a bit. They were going to tear them apart. Rip them up in pieces until nothing remained. Even memories would shredded as Logan joined them, disappearing beneath the skin that so gracefully once covered the drywall. The hands were reaching out now and they clutched their head tighter, trying not to listen to the screaming and rage that surrounded them. Unclean fingers wrapped around their shoulders and their feet and their legs, pulling them farther and farther away. The paper was sealing up, with Logan on the wrong side. Or was it the right side? It didn't matter, they were lost. Logan felt their glasses fall off, and before the walls enclosed them within, they heard a faint voice amidst all the fury.
Patton gently shook his friend, who had gone quiet during the conversation. "Hey- you still there? I need you to explain to Virgil the benefits of getting a puppy." He already knew the benefits, that they would have a puppy, but Logan could come up with something extra convincing. They looked up, but something was strange about them, as if they had lost all their spark. "Yes, of course I'm here. I'm standing in our house right in front of you." It sounded like Logan and not like them at all. They were probably just tired.
