Can we like.. normalize skipping contents that we hate or contents that don't align with our opinion? I've seen the most beautiful ship arts in almost every social media platform and there would always be like

"Love the art! Hate the ship!"

Look, I know social media peeps do their best to stay positive but is it really that important to accompany your compliment with a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY statement? Can people normalize keeping their opinions to themselves when it's not needed? Girl that is obviously a ship post. Why do you feel the need to say you hate it after complimenting?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the compliment but I'd rather have you not comment on my post at all if you're just gonna leave backhanded compliments. Is it really that hard to JUST say "I love the art!" and be respectful? And if you hate the ship so much then do yourself a favour by scrolling up or down to avoid the content. Trust me, avoiding negativity would be better for your mental health.

It's not just happening in ship arts. Fanarts in general. There'd be like, a fanart of a character or a redesign and there will be comments like "I prefer them with this-that though." or "This-that suits them better!" or "I don't like them with this-that!".

Or there would be contents that talks about how this character is the best character of this show/game/movie or how this character has the best game effects and there would be like, "I prefer this-that character though." or "I don't see anything about *charactername though." or "Nope, *charactername is the best."

An example of this is when I was scrolling through contents about Furina's c6 plunge attack and infusions and how they are the best and there are a bunch of comments saying "I don't see Raiden though" or "Raiden's plunge is the best"

And I was like NO ONE ASKED??? Look, no hate to Raiden Shogun because she's literally one of my favorite characters. I love her plunge attack and I have an undeniable bias when it comes to purple and pink but the video was OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT HER. The video was not a misinformation and simply someone's opinion/preference.

It's like going to a room full of people talking about how they like the color red and saying something like "I prefer blue though!" Gosh why would you do that? It's just so EMBARRASSING and SO ATTENTION SEEKING at it's finest. And then when people call them out, they'd pull the "opinion" card and act like s victim. If you want people to respect your opinion, why don't you do it first?

People need to learn that not everything that appears on their feed is about them and to not take everything PERSONALLY because not everything is about you and not everything revolves around you. People can have different opinions and enjoy any content that they want even if those are opposed to your preferences. Being different from you doesn't make them less valid in any way.

If it's not illegal or harmful just keep your mouth shut, is it really that hard?

Instead of wasting your time commenting on a content that you don't like (and by doing so, the said content would just appear on your feed more frequently), why not search for contents you enjoy to satisfy yourself, yah?

Why? Because that's the normal thing to do. People have become so brave on whatever they say on the internet because they know they'd never suffer real life consequences.

The waves crashed against the Fortress of Meropide, their sound echoing through the cold stone walls. Wriothesley sat in his office, a cup of tea in hand but he wasn’t focused on the reports spread across his desk. Lately, strange things had been happening. Some of his guards swore they’d heard singing coming from the waters surrounding the fortress.

At first Wriothesley dismissed it as nothing more than tired minds playing tricks. But when two guards vanished, he couldn’t ignore it any longer.

Now as the fortress grew quiet for the night, Wriothesley made his way to the lower levels. His boots clicked against the stone floor, the lantern in his hand lighting the dark hallway. When he reached the water’s edge he stopped. The surface shimmered,glowing faintly in the darkness. Then he heard it—the song.

It was soft at first, a melody that tugged at something deep in his chest. His heart sped up but he forced himself to stay still.

"Not curious enough to come closer?" a voice called, smooth and soft but with an edge to it.

Wriothesley’s eyes narrowed. He raised his lantern, the light reflecting off the water.

"Who’s there?" he demanded

A figure rose from the depths, water rolling off her as she leaned against the edge of the stone platform, she was breathtaking. Her long hair shimmered in the lantern’s glow, her skin almost glowing, her eyes were bright and sharp, locked onto his. A sleek scaled tail flicked behind her sending ripples across the water.

"You’re not what I expected" she said, tilting her head as she studied him.

"I could say the same about you" Wriothesley replied, keeping his voice calm. He wasn’t about to let her know how unsettled he felt. "What are you doing here?"

Her lips curled into a small smile. "I might ask you the same. This fortress sits on my waters. I’ve lived here long before this prison was built."

Wriothesley folded his arms his stance firm. "You’re the reason my men are disappearing."

Her smile widened, revealing sharp teeth. "They came willingly. I didn’t force them."

"Your song did."

She raised an eyebrow, amused. "And yet here you are. You’re strong aren’t you? You didn’t follow it."

Wriothesley didn’t answer, he wasn’t about to admit how much effort it had taken to stay put. Her voice was unlike anything he’d ever heard—beautiful and dangerous.

"What do you want?" he asked.

She leaned closer her hands resting on the stone. Water dripped from her fingertips, pooling at her elbows. "I wanted to see what kind of man would dare claim this place as his own, now I see why they follow you."

"You’ve seen me, now leave.” he said firmly, though his voice stayed calm.

She chuckled, the sound echoing off the walls. "Leave? You’re bold to think you can order me around."

Wriothesley met her gaze unflinching. "If you harm anyone else, we’ll have a problem."

For a moment the siren said nothing, her eyes searching his. Then she pushed away from the edge, her tail creating soft ripples in the water.

"You’re interesting" she said. "Most men are too weak to even speak to me, but you..." She trailed off, a playful smile on her face. "I’ll leave—for now. But I might come back, you’ve caught my attention."

Before he could reply she dove back into the water, disappearing beneath the surface. Her song faded into the distance, leaving Wriothesley standing alone.

He stared at the water for a moment longer then turned and walked back to the fortress.

Something told him this wasn’t the end.

Note: I know the fortress of meropide is underwater but let’s pretend it’s not

RANT #1: SHIP COMMENTS

I HATE HATE HATE how toxic sides of fandoms would pick on popular straight ships by commenting father-daughter on every other straight ship contents and had the balls to say "I'm allowed to have an opinion!🤪" like can you keep it to yourself and find contents that suits you?

Also.. father-daughter??? Seriously??? Do they even know what father-daughter relationship is like??? Or do they not have a father to know what father-daughter relationship actually is???

The straight ship apparently had

✅ Jaw dropping symbolisms

✅ Subtle flirty lines (seriously? what father daughter would flirt with each other)

✅ Treats each other like an equal and have no need for parental affection

✅ Has official crumbs from the creators

And they would be like, OMG FATHER DAUGHTER!

Don't get me started with the "siblings dynamic" they always gaslight themselves to believe in because apparently that certain straight ship gets in the way of the most sexualized/fetishized ml𝐦 ship that has no actual mlm shippers and was just created because some fans are so h0rny they want to get off by making two of the most random male characters f𝐯ck with each other and the most "obvious evidence" they could present is that the male characters are beside each other in the official art or "they give g𝐚y vibes" / one is dominant and the other is a "f𝐞mboy" self insert character.

...or maybe they're insecure about some female characters? ISTG they will always find a way to hate the most gorgeous/kind/gentle/well-written female characters especially when they're involved in a popular straight ship on which one of the characters (most of the time male) is also involved in a rival g𝐚y ship.

And when there's an actual healthy g𝐚y ship they'd act as if it doesn't exist, probably because the characters don't make them h0rny asf.

Like come on, just say you hate straight ships instead of finding the most ridiculous "evidences" to debunk them and shoehorn your headcanon to other people, ignoring the actual pieces of information presented to you because you're butt hurt from the truth and you use shipping g𝐚y characters to cope with a certain real life straight relationship trauma.
