if youve really paid attention to both the genesis and revelations arcs, you would know neither of them are on good terms.

niles technically posessed axol in a way. to both torture him and melony. melony had to kill axol to save him and free niles. niles is not good and shouldnt even be dynamic-ed this way. victim x abuser? niles abused axol quite literally?? why the FUCK would you even ship this?

I should explain the context of the skit I wrote for Annie/Atsuover's birthday, and why Sheridan sent her a card.

see, in the AU, Sheridan saw Annie as his daughter, despite her still having her parents. this also plays into a take of the Swap AU that exists.

I came up with my own take of the Swap AU with the Revival AU thrown in.

here's who swaps with who:

Annie swaps with Garcy

Sheridan with Lucks

Masa with Marco

Lamar with Sofia

Lucinia with Evelyn

Theo with Bo

you get the idea

as for the other characters,

Wren would swap with Winston (which would make the most sense)

Steven and Glitchy Red would both swap with Mike and Blue Tears (Mike would have a shiny Squirtle)

given this would be similar to the Revival AU, Annie would be adopted by Sheridan, fall in love with Belle (Tari's swap) befriend Desti (Axol's swap) in the afterlife (she died from Alcohol poisoning, and a failing liver) and met the SMG2 crew

Regarding Steven and Glitchy, Steven would be swapped with Mike, Mike went insane after losing his Blastoise Dewdrop in a failed trade, so he strangled Steven, becoming Strangled Blue, or "M!k3" as his inner madness. However, Dewdrop gets reincarnated as a shiny Squirtle for Mike, and he calls him Dewey. As for Glitchy, he swaps with Blue Tears, since Blue and Red are polar opposites.

since X and FM become Spudnick recolors in the Swap AU, Enzo becomes one as well, (Starman's not in the AU for very obvious reasons)

As for Wren, he and Winston swap, so Winston becomes a washed up Splatfest champion and Melony's idol, while Wren becomes the TV Adware, making a simulation for Winston. the Simulation in question would also be Pirate themed, (I remember seeing a picture of the Swap AU having a pirate themed simulation instead of a western theme, which I liked)

for the trio's, Annie becomes pals with both Otis (Swap!SMG0) and Desti, while Garcello befriends Niles and Orange (Swap!Meggy)

Annie and Desti are also a trio with Belle (this'll be shown in the Revival AU too, as the three are also close)

regarding the Meta Runner crew, Lucinia and Sofia are cousins in the swap!AU, and Sofia wants nothing to do with her spoiled cousin. As for Evelyn, she and Lamar are step siblings, both are close, as half the time, the two just had each other. As for their friendship with Annie, they plus Marco met her when she was real young, so they became her older siblings.

As for Annie and Sheridan's relationship, in both AU's, they got along well. In the Swap AU, she's his daughter, and Sheridan fully supports his daughter, both in her dreams, and her transition. Annie's gone by Annie since she was little, she barely remembers her birth name, (rather, her dead name) so Sheridan has always known her as Annie, and he loves her. In the main AU, the two get along well, in fact, Sheridan has Annie as his assistant when working in his lab. She's also hurt when the truth is revealed.

Some things do stay the same from the main series, such as Sheridan's love for coffee, Garcello smoking, and Annie drinking "The Liquid" however, she gains The Liquid after her revival, allowing her to become her Liquid form. Garcello's cigs aren't deadly, but can turn him into a ghost.

2nd Old Guard Movie: A romantic dramedy with some action for flair.

Nile demands life stories to catch up on everything about her new family now that shit has calmed the fuck down for five minutes. Joe never one to miss an opportunity to retell the epic that is his and Nicky’s love story jumps straight on board. Meanwhile Booker and Quynh are doing this weird not quite buddy cop thing trying to track down the rest of the family, where Quynh is like “and then we kill them!” and Booker is like “No... then we talk to them” while trying to work a knife out of Quynh’s grip. So side by side you’ve got these twin sets of flashbacks where things with Joe and Nicky go from killing each other to being soft and domestic making dinner for Nile and Andy while they talk, and things with Andy and Quynh going from bright and happy, to Quynh breaking into the families current home by blowing up a wall, and kidnapping them all before they can recover or some shit. Somehow they all manage to get through to Quynh before she can permanantly kill Andy and the movie ends on this “we’ve got a lot of healing to do but we’re hopeful we can do it” type note.

3rd Old Guard Movie: A family comedy w/ violent b (maybe c) plot.

A return to the first in that some capitalist mofo is trying to collect the family, except this time Quynh is there as like that redeemed villain that hangs out making snarky comments and refusing to admit they’re soft enough to be apart of the family. While also being all “this is my stupid depressed french son who has been helping me recover so I must in turn stop him from selling us all out in a fit of melancholy” and “this is my chance to bond with The Baby since I missed her first dozen or so deaths, and my wife and brothers seem to care for her deeply.” One of her hardest hitting snarky comments is “from the brilliant minds who thought exiling the guy who fucked up because he was lonely was the best way to handle things.” This is where Nile begins to set aside her worries that Quynh’s gonna let the crazy take over and kill Andy while they all sleep so she can be like “I have been SAYING people!” Whatever rich guy is hunting them 100% has back seat to Andy and Quynh getting into a shouting match over who did or did not remember to ride by the mill on the way home to get some flour 800 years ago as part of airing their greivances for theraputic reasons.

The District of Columbia and at least 12 states on the East Coast, from Connecticut to Florida to Tennessee, are in the midst of a songbird epidemic. Thousands of young birds, including blue jays, common grackles, American robins, and European starlings, have suddenly gone blind, oozing from their eyes, shaking, and dying. Lab tests have ruled out some possible causes such as West Nile virus and avian influenza, leaving scientists struggling to come up with new hypotheses. 

Though reported cases began to dwindle in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia by the end of June, new cases continue to be reported in other states. And as wildlife rehabilitation facilities have struggled to cope with the emotional toll of euthanizing suffering birds they can’t help, experts are racing to understand what might be going on.

“This event is remarkable,” ornithologist Evans says. “What makes it significant is the number of birds that have been ill or have died and the number of species that have been impacted.” Cases have also emerged in Carolina wrens, gray catbirds, cardinals, house finches, sparrows, and others.

Also exceptional: The sheer spread of the disease cases, which have been seen in at least 12 states, and D.C. “It doesn’t look like we’ve seen anything at this scale in at least quite a while,” Evans says.

On July 2, the U.S. Geological Survey, which is working with wildlife agencies in the affected states, announced that “no definitive cause(s) of illness or death have been determined at this time.” Testing of dead birds from multiple states has ruled out common bacteria such as salmonella and chlamydia, and viruses such as avian influenza, West Nile virus, various herpes viruses, and a host of others. There have been no reported cases of any transmission to humans, farmed birds, or other animals.

Mycoplasma, a bacteria, has been found in some samples, Evans says, “but that’s not necessarily unusual for birds, and it’s not typically associated with the neurological symptoms that are coming in.”

Determining the cause of any disease outbreak is often a slow process because it involves ruling out possibilities. This case is proving particularly challenging, he says, because “neurologic and eye symptoms are an unusual combination.” It could be a completely new pathogen, or it could be multiple factors working in tandem.

It’s become increasingly clear in recent weeks, however, that the cicadas don’t seem to account for the bird deaths, he says. The geographic range of the bird epidemic is much larger than the range of the Brood X emergence, and it’s unlikely birds that were living in the cicada zone flew out of it. “They’ve set up their breeding grounds for the summer. They don’t typically move great distances at this point,” Evans says.

How did you come up with Wreniles? Was it just some random 3am motivation or something else?

Well, I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again bc this story and ship seriously need more attention.

I was browsing the SMG4 fandom tag on AO3 since there are so few new stories there that I can just see every single new story easily. Anyway, I noticed a fic for Wren x Niles and I thought “ooo new rarepair! I’ll read this.”, not expecting much from it.

But ho. ly. Shit.

IT WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER READ. POSSIBLY MY FAVOURITE SMG4 ONESHOT THAT EXISTS!

That one fanfictions opened me up to such an incredible dynamic between dead villains with stupidly similar stories. They are now my favourite rarepair and second favourite ship in all of SMG4. They work so well together and I love them.

The fic was called Reach for the sky by JCMorrigan and I cannot recommend it enough.
