------- Calla Tavlen has lost love once. A beautiful man she didn't deserve. One night, while mourning the loss, she meets a Pale Elf, who promises to whisk her away into the night. Unfortunately, the Absolute has other plans. --- Astarion brought home a bard once. A beautiful man who was more kind than he deserved. Maybe it was guilt, or maybe it was curiosity; Astarion sought out the bard's wife, thinking to bring her home as well. Things didn't go to plan. ---------

Calla and Wren are poly, and after getting married, they would both go home with strangers from time to time.

Wren went home with Astarion one of these nights.

Instead of hiding Wren away, Cazador kept him amongst the other main spawns qnd essentially became a show pony.

In the few years before the events of BG3, Wren and Astarion develop a physical relationship.

The night they are captured by the nautiloid, Astarion had met Calla, and they're captured at the same time.

So Astarion and Calla develop a relationship as well.

As I've been writing for these characters, there is a moment where Astarion describes Wren as the sun, that he's been darkened by an eclipse, and then Astarion calls himself the moon.

When I heard this song again after writing that scene, it really struck me, so I had to make art!
