This is the Monster list I've decided to go with, a bit of a mix up from the last one, what do you think? Got any suggestions for Monsters or ideas for the Nicknames I couldn't decide?

Wrecktor's nickname would be Crush and Knight Shift garners Phantasm. Also Dante is gonna have a little shit moment once the two Neros meet. He's so calling his nephew something like 'Teeny Neero'.

I was just kinda curious. I spent a good chunk of the lead-up to DQM3 doodling DQ monsters everyday until I couldn't, and also tried to add recolors as a bonus for each one I did, so I spent a long time looking at them.

During that time, I've noticed that the colors used for certain monsters in older titles used to be different, probably because of the hardware limitations at the time, and yet whenever a remake happens, the DQ devs like to remain consistent with what the monsters looked like back then.

Boss Troll was one such case, but for another example, my favorite DQ monster is Wrecktor. Back then, he used to be purple. The current modern day coloration used to belong to Whackolytes.

This philosophy of retaining outdated stuff in remakes sometimes even extended to designs, like the DQ2 remakes still having the old Sabrecats despite them being superseded by DQ5's Great Sabrecats, or DQ6's DS remake having the different pose for the Walking Corpses, and using the old SFC designs for Duran and the Loss Leaders.

Anyways, just a tangent from someone who has been looking at monsters and their palette swaps for probably longer than he should.

btw this was a little while ago but a few short videos on dq3 hd-2d remake posted by official accounts revealed something.

did y'all also always feel a little uncomfortable around the troll monster designs cause they had exaggerated lips that brought to mind racist caricatures?

cause if so, you'll be as relieved as i am that they removed the troll's lips in this game.

just be wary if you look in youtube comments and twitter replies where the worst kinds of people hang out and there are people who are angry about this

Boss fight (and betrayal!) with Warwick and the Wrecktor.

@lokilickedme You 'think'? Pfft. You always write good chapters. So good, that after discovering my nephews gf is a Loki fan (while we rated above tipsy on the 'how sloshed are you wrecktor scale' at his birthday gathering), I recommended she imagine Chief as Loki while reading The Department. 😉

It’s Thanksgiving in Weemeetwa, guys.

“Creeley what are you doing here?”

He stopped in my kitchen doorway and turned around to shoot me a look that said it should be obvious - but it wasn’t, and as I was standing there waiting for an answer someone knocked on the door behind me.  Cree spun around to head into the kitchen, a bellowed “Come in!” yelled over his shoulder as he disappeared into the depths of my not-quite-home-yet home.

“Do not tell people to come into my house, Creeley!”

“Hey Greta!”

I turned around to find Andy bending over in the doorway, ducking to come in without hitting his head on the frame and brushing the snow off his shoulders while he balanced a well-wrapped box in his other hand.  Saint stepped in behind him and immediately shook off like a dog all over my entryway.  There was a package wrapped in what looked like an old tee shirt tucked under his arm.  “Merry Thanksgiving Morley.”
