I was actually so insanely excited just hearing Luke say kleos because I learned about it in college in my classics courses. So like, as much as watching the show brings me back to when I first reading it in 3rd grade, it also feels like it grew up along with me. Like back then it was based on Greek mythology and stuff but silly goofy, and now it’s like… instead of just explaining the concepts, we’re getting the Greek terms and stuff as well. It just feels like he’s talking about the Homeric inspirations and historical side of things more, and since I’ve actually studied that stuff somewhat now it’s really exciting. Young me would have been learning about kleos in that episode, but current me can link it to the Iliad and the Odyssey and Greek culture and now I’m just thinking about how Clarisse is already starting to hate/dislike/be jealous of Percy because he immediately gets some glory by killing the Minotaur but she, a daughter of Ares, has yet to prove herself and earn any glory. And it’s not just as simple as wanting to be the best or have some glory, but it’s the expectation or idea that kleos itself is a goal for every warrior. Not only that but he has the Minotaur horn, a spoil of war, to represent that glory

Hi kleo, how have you been?

If it's not too much trouble, would you help me interpret a reading? I asked whether M (she/her, either Libra or Scorpio) feels any physical/sexual attraction towards me in a 2x3 spread. I got death, the Magician and the Tower on the top row, Knight of Cups, 7 of Pentacles and the Moon on the bottom row.

I'm aware a lot of people interpret the tower as a very sexual card, and it could be, since I asked specifically about that aspect and it follows the Magician. But it's also a card of change, like death, it worries me that the Magician is in the middle of these two and it's not telling me WHAT is transforming into WHAT. It's just not a good looking combination, I'm not sure what to make of it.

The knight is a great card to get (I'm a water sign, so I think this is me) but he's facing the 7 of Pentacles, a contemplative card... And the 7 of Pentacles has his back to the moon. This last 3 cards tell me she sees me as a possibility, but she's not acnokledging whatever it is that she feels.

Do you think the top row is telling me I need to undergo some change (Death) in order to manifest (Magician) what I want (the Tower, considering it's sexual)? The problem with this is that the bottom row kind of contradicts it, 7 of Pentacles and the Moon are telling me she's dubious. Plus, there should be a better card to represent success than the freaking tower, a tower crumbling is kind of the opposite.

I'm dying to know your thoughts on this 😅 no pressure though!

First of all, I'm sorry if there's a larger amount of typos in this as I usually log in on my PC to do the longer responses but I'm visiting my sister and typing on my phone now. 😂

So! My first intuitive idea is that you might be standing in front of a choice whether to let something go which might lead to mourning or whether to keep sticking the head into sand but being struck with something inevitable and devastating eventually. You have the ability to do the choice but for some reason you feel like stuck in between those options.

The second row might suggest that you are the one thinking in terms of love and attraction but the other person isn't putting their effort in and only somewhat deceiving you maybe? The moon could mean that there's a hidden danger in the connection, that the person isn't honest with you and you feel like you have to pull each tiny information out of them with a lot of work put in it.

Overall there are many major arcana cards so the vibes are strong here. Unfortunately none of the cards is overly positive in terms of your question. It looks more like you really wish they were attracted to you and maybe put a lot of effort into attracting them but it's changing you in a way that's not sustainable and if you don't reconsider your approach, universe will do it for you.

One more thing coming to my mind is to put the question in different words. Not as yes/no question but rather asking about what you can do about this person to improve your dynamics or something like that to get more clarity. Sometimes when a reading seems a bit confusing it's worth it to reframe it, to ask more active questions.

All of these are just my suggestions and you can completely ignore them. I don't know the situation in detail so you should follow your own instincts. 😊

Queen Letizia’s snake print skirt and black boots→ Worn at a Vogue Spain reception on 18th January 2019

Where? As a renowned style icon, it was fitting that Letizia would host a reception for representatives of Vogue Spain in honour of their 30th anniversary year. The Queen later received organisers of the International Fruit and Vegetable Industry Fair as they celebrate their 10th edition

What she wore: The Queen is a lover of the high street so it was no surprise to see her in a skirt from Zara. The Spanish affordable clothing giant regularly outfits the Queen and this pleated snake skin piece is typical Leti style. She paired the skirt with a long sleeved black top and black boots. 

Copycat: Letizia’s skirt is affordable but unfortunately sold out so I’ve chosen a copycat for this piece and the stunning boots. Let’s start with the skirt. I’ve chosen a snake print skirt from another high street chain, Miss Selfridge. It’s still available in plenty of sizes and is selling for just £35 ($44.88). For the boots I’ve opted for a knee high pair with ruched sides from Dorothy Perkins. For a pair of boots the Kleo is a really reasonable price, just £20 ($25.64). Snap them up now!

Linnet was damn shore capable of expanding her horizons. She was more thinking about how the first time they talked about those books, Kleo here was all 'Sanchez can't write abou fairies cuz he's a sorcerer so that's why they weren't featured in the enchanted forest bla bla bla yadda yadda yadda.'

Now Linnet was s'posed to write about other magick she didn't know a thing about? Make that make sense. It didn't. Kleo had a serious case of idol worship goin' on. Linnet should know; she felt that way about several musicians and would defend them to the death, even when it weren't fair.

Which character is most like you? least like you?

Most like me: Vasha or Dhargey. Vasha and I are both whiny, hypocritical shit who complains about everything but doesn’t move to change things until someone physically forces them. Dhargey shares my love for adventure, generally joyful exterior, and desire to be kind to people. 

Least like me: This is hard because Suuki’s personality is least like mine, but we share the same unquenchable love for science. Ilya is rash and volatile and approaches his goals in a very differently then I do, but we’re both ambitious and that weird mixture of rather smart while still managing to be a complete idiot. 

Which character would you most like to be?

All the characters in this book go through hell and back, so reasonably, none of them. I wouldn’t mind being Mirja though. 

Older, wise woman with bad ass fighting skill and a lot of leadership under her belt. Manages to steal everyone else’s books and gets away with it. Has had her share of adventures in her younger days and seen everything there is to see, and now she’s ready to retire and go visit ancient ruins for research (and relaxation) purposes. Who wouldn’t want to be Mirja?

Who are your character faceclaims?

I don’t have a faceclaim for Vasha because I haven’t found one I like yet. Kleos isn’t allowed to have a faceclaim for *reasons*. Here are the faceclaims I do have…

could we possibly hear more about how the retainer system works in this au? i gather that each prince/ss gets retainer marks from garon to give to people of their choosing, so could someone potentially choose only one retainer (ala diantha), or even three retainers? i wish the game had explored retainer selection more, and i love seeing more discussion of it in this au.

Technically, there is going to be an arc dedicated to explaining the policy for retainers, but I can make a nice explanation here.

Retainer Limits and Responsibilities

Each member of the royal family is only allowed two marks whom they can give to two individuals of their choice. Even the king is constrained by these limits, which are kept in balance by his council and the noble houses. King Garon may have had three official retainers, but he has only employed two at a time. Horatio of Buelen resigned before Gabrielle was made Garon’s retainer. Xander did not take Peri and Laslow as his retainers until after Faye and Lockie passed away.

The two retainer limit does raise the question of the king’s limit on the number of consorts he is allowed to have. There are no limits on how many spouses the ruler of Nohr is allowed to have. A consort can easily serve as a retainer of sorts for the king without being constrained by the two retainer limit, something that Nohrian Consorts Seraphina, Irma, and Theresa made heavy use of in their time. As the way things are now, there probably won’t be much done to resolve this, although in the future, we could expect Xander to deal with this once he ascends to the throne.

A retainer of a prince, princess, consort, or king, is more or less the representative of their lord or lady. They can potentially act in the absence of their lord or lady, but are required to carry their mark with them at all times. They hold almost as much power just below a general in the military (unless they already hold the title of general before) and often serve as right hands and advisers for their lords and ladies.

While the royal family member is free to choose whoever they want, there is the effect of opinion and image to uphold in front of nobility. Choosing a retainer hold as much importance as associations by marriage here in Nohr, so noble houses do take great lengths to promote their own people to extend some amount of influence on the crown. Most royal members are expected to hire military personnel and members of nobility, and choices out of those circles are often subject to more scrutiny.

Formalities and Traditions

The ceremony to officiate a retainer is much like the ones in the official supports (or whatever Siegbert says in his JP My Room lines). Retainers drink from a goblet with water and a drop of their lord or lady’s blood (it’s just pricking a finger, so no slitting any wrists or throats).

It’s meant to frame the old belief that the Dusk Dragon Kleo offered her followers their strength to fight in her name. Although there isn’t a clear account on how that was done, the common consensus on the story is that Kleo’s most trusted followers drank her blood. Retainers don’t become dragon vein users or anything special when drinking their lord or lady’s blood (in fact it’s been disproved for a good while now), but it’s just a nice touch and a nod to old tradition.

The second part is a vow spoken by the retainer. The standard oath of fealty goes as follows:

I shall drink this blessed blood as an eternal promise to faithfully serve as your sword and shield. Let your whims become my purpose, and your will, my law.

To give credit where it is due, half of the vow is paraphrased from Allora Gale’s Code Geass AU, Dauntless (which has been a big inspiration to this AU but unfortunately incomplete). To be honest, the expansion of the retainers is very much like the Knight of Honor title in the Code Geass universe, if anyone noticed.

It’s a fairly copy paste vow, but some retainers have made changes to it however they like. Back in early stages of writing, Silas would change his vows when he swears to Arisa in the Birthright route. The only difference is him acknowledging that he is ditching Nohr for Arisa in Hoshido:

I shall forsake my oath to my former lord and country to faithfully serve as your sword and shield. Let your whims become my purpose, and your will, my law.

Most times retainer ceremonies aren’t very big occasions and are mostly performed before a small audience including the king and select members of the court. Only recently have they become a more openly public affair, with Iago making a big deal about Anri’s retainers, and Anri deciding own up to his choices by going big.
