[in reference to this]
While Creed might have survived the attack that took the lives of his siblings in the Leibniz dimension that doesn't mean he got to live long. With Serafina dead and Mevolent losing his mind out of grief, Creed paid for his berating of Mevolent with his life.
In an angry outburst, he's beaten him to death in front of his court. Mevolent claims he was making an example of Creed, but Nefarian knows him better than that. Mevolent was losing control of himself, which was a dangerous thing for the whole damn planet.
When Mevolent decided to poison all of America it's something Nef brought up again, calling him out that his rampage wasn't for Serafina, it's not what she would have wanted, it's for himself. He cannot claim all of this carnage is for her if even her own brother fell victim to his rage and grief, not only ending an Ancient Bloodline of Faceless descendants but also ending the bloodline of the wife he claimed to love.
There is very little he could have said to enrage Mevolent more, after all very few things are more infuriating than an uncomfortable truth.
"How dare you claim what Serafina would have wanted! You do not know her like like I know her. You do not love her like I love her."
Nefarian wasn't at his side like he usually was when Mevolent annihilated America. He stayed in the castle licking his wounds, making up his mind that Mevolent could not be permitted to live, not in the state he is in now. He must be put down like the rabid dog he had become. It would be a mercy for both Mevolent and the world.

i know naberus is more "spooky terror" type of halloween but i'd also like DE to indulge the "mass produced costumes" angle
basically
i want to cosplay as nef
imagine drifter outfits that are just cosplays of existing NPCs, maybe with some flair to make them more costumey

@sillymuses asked: It's been a long day of experimenting and coming up with multiple plans. Just backup plan after backup after backup! They really were hitting the creative evil juices today. Alas it did result in a low charge from his PAK and the irken found himself starting to doze off which was something he rarely did. There's a thud against Nefarious' knee as Zim's physical body has now fallen fully asleep and using the doctor as support.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The room was dim, bathed in the faint glow of machines and the flickering light from the soldering iron Nefarious had clutched in a hand. He currently sat hunched over a workbench, totally absorbed in constructing the device the both of them had brainstormed earlier. He'd been so immersed in the task, that he didn't notice how long they'd been at it until he felt that soft thud against his leg.
Blinking in surprise, the robot looked down to find Zim slumped against his leg, completely asleep. For a moment, he just sat there frozen, surprised by the sight. His first instinct was to nudge Zim away, but something stopped him. It was strange to see him so peaceful, when in his waking state he might have been even more manic than he was. A rare smirk crossed Nefarious's face and he looked back towards the project he'd been working on.
"You are so ridiculous." He muttered in a way that one might consider fond, if anyone had been there to see it, and resumed his work. Taking care to make sure his movements weren't disturbing to his friend.

Nef takes the “its for the best of the clans” thing of the soul eater’s ideology very much to heart. In the third book she mentions it multiple times. This is what the lens that the author wants us to veiw her from. And it makes sense, her son died from starvation and she either was the mage of her clan at that point or was training to be one. So not only that she’s the mother that failed to protect him, she’s also the mage that failed to protect him. (from her perspective, I mean). This is not only with just her son though, i suspect these feelings would also extend to guilt about not being able to protect her entire clan as well. She was out of control when that happend but she doesn’t have to be.
(this is so long so im putting a keep reading here but i talk a lot about her below) (warning its long and idk if it makes
The “this is for the best of the clans” is the mantra that she used to justify all of the horrible things that the soul eaters did. She really doesn’t want power like the other soul eaters, she just wants to like stop illness and famine. They may all be evil and the things they do may be horrible but they’re doing pleases the world spirit. And when they do that, things don’t have to be unpredictable anymore, trough this; she can make things make sense and things won’t be out of order.
We don’t know a lot of what the soul eaters did in between the fire that separated them and soul eater (the book). Seshru was in the high north and close to the narwhal for at least a while. Tenris was like taking over the seal clan. But we don’t know what Nef was doing at all which is such a shame because it would tell us so much about her. Anyways when see her in soul eater, she’s unsure of herself and her place in the soul eaters. This is maybe the first time all of them have been together since after the fire that scattered them.
Considering that Nef seems to not like Seshru or Thiazzi and that its just them now along with Eostra, whom the rest of them honestly seem a bit scared of, and that the one (confirmed) sort of positive relationship with anyone in the soul eaters is gone (aka the one with she had with Torak’s dad), it makes sense for her to be unsure of her status within the soul eaters. Especially since Torak’s dad probably introduced her to the soul eaters and so her first impression of them and what they want to do is trough him. So if the person who first introduced her to her goal and her mantra, still realized that what they were doing was wrong, then what does that say about her goals.
But Nef has this deep personal relationship and experience with her goal that drives her and keeps her fixated on this goal. She needs to fix the world, nothing like what happend to her and her son will ever happen again, she can make the world make sense, not be so unpredictable. Torak’s dad, when he got the mindset, kind of didn’t (not that we know of at least). I’m sure he didn’t want people to die and that he wanted stop illness, but maybe not in the same way or on the same level that Nef did, if that makes sense. To leave, to do like Torak’s dad means to give up, accept that the world just is like that and that she’s powerless and can’t make it make sense.
She’s somehow the soul eater that most sincerely believes in what she’s doing and yet is the nicest and most compassionate and i love her

I've been stuck (again I know) in something of a drawing rut, so I've fallen back onto the fail safe of drawing memes, this time the 'tasteful sideboob meme' since I've been feeling self indulgent lately
I've got four slots full with the ranger boys (brax, nef, qwark, and ratchet) but now I'm wracking my head for the fifth, artists choice of shirt cut, slot.

Does he have a stinger.
[ID: Two Tumblr screenshots. The first one says "[he freezes, something under his robes shifting out of Select'a grasp, but eventually they hug back.]" The pronouns are color-coded in pink.
The second is a post by nefarious-exclam saying "Nef might be venomous but thankfully not on their teeth. " /End ID]

RE: Young thing falls in love with Nefarian Serpine Playlist
Ever since the lanky boy he once was grew up to be a tall, handsome man, Nefarian had been using his good looks and charm to get what he wants and, occasionally, what Mevolent wants. A smile and a wink spelt out a promise he didn't intend to keep, but -dear gods- did it make it easier to fool people. And a few broken hearts along the way only helped to fuel his ego.
That was until Mevolent rose enough in power that not only he was an eligible bachelor for a social climber, but so was his right-hand man. It's all fun and games until the daughter of an Old Blood family whose support Mevolent needs falls for Nefarian and he is forced by his master and lover to marry this stranger.
It did not end well.
Tumblr media
His first wife had fallen for his looks. Plenty of men in positions of power were old or ugly or both, so Nefarian was quite the catch in her eyes. Certainly, it would make the duty of producing an heir for her family less of a chore. He wasn't loyal to her, but frankly neither was she. His lack of interest in her and her jealousy turned the marriage spiteful and toxic. And once Mevolent no longer needed her family she had a quite unfortunate accident during a carriage ride to her parents. Nefarian was in a different country handling diplomatic affairs for Mevolent, so it could not be pinned on him.
His second wife was a social climber and too ambitious for her own good. She was loyal to him, ignored his affairs, and pretended to share his interests. She was like a shadow to him in an attempt to use him to gain Mevolent's favour. Finally, after pulling Nef into the bedroom any chance she got, she became pregnant. She fully intended to use the child to secure her position as his wife and to force him to behave more in a way she deemed suitable for a husband. Unfortunately, she and the child died during the birth. Mevolent was furious since he'd rather liked this one and he beat the living hell out of Nef despite him swearing up and down he had nothing to do with it. Mev already hadn't believed in his innocence when the first wife had met her demise, he believed him even less now since Nef had been present when she died. Nef insisted that of course he was present for the birth of his first child but Mev was having non of it. He warned him that if his next wife were to die too all Hell would break loose.
His third wife actually did love him. She had been a sweet, innocent thing that had fallen for his devilish charms. This was the only one Nef had bothered to warn that he'd be her ruin, that she should run as long as she still could considering divorces weren't allowed in the Faceless Church. She did not heed his warning and instead mistook it as a sign that he fancied her too. This time Nefarian actually tried to make it work, half bc she good and sweet and he could tell she actually did adore him, half bc he was afraid of what Mevolent would do if this marriage was to fail too. But that was exactly her folly, she was too sweet. Her parents had sheltered her too much and failed to prepare her for the cruelty of the church and its followers. Tho he supposed he couldn't expect better considering that while her family was wealthy and influential, and owned land in a few key positions Mevolent wanted to station soldiers, they were new converts to the church. Nef had been kind to her, at least he tried to be. The devil in him was easier to hide when he had to be among people for only a few hours, but since they were living together he kept letting things slip. The glee in his smile when he talked about torture and death, the glimmer in his eyes when he was covered in blood, the disdain in his voice when he spoke about fellow nobles, the hatred in his heart when things didn't go his way. Kindness is not stupidity and she came to understand that the man she loved was a monster. But he ensured her he would let no harm befall her, including from himself. She came to understand the other higher-ups were just as bad and would sell them both out if it meant gaining Mevolent's favour. But he ensured her he would not let it come to that for he was twice as clever as them. She came to understand that Mevolent was the worst of them when she tended her husband's wounds from prior 'punishments'. He insisted that he deserved this and not to worry, he would not fail their master again, but she knew that he loved him, it wasn't hard to tell by the excuses he kept making for him. She came to understand that the Sanctuaries were just as bad when her parents died during an attack on the family castle that Mevolent had been using as an outpost. He tried to comfort her as best he could, but he lacked the humanity to do so in any meaningful way. She came to understand that she didn't want to live in a world filled with monsters. And he wasn't there to stop her, he was in Mevolent's castle worshipping his master in the bedroom. Nefarian found her hanging from the ceiling of their shared bedroom when he returned home one day with a suicide note on the nightstand that spoke of the cruelties of the world.
After that Mevolent gave up trying to wed Nefarian. For even when he's trying, he can't keep his wives alive. Either he despises them because they are as wicked as he is, or they are too sweet and he'll ruin them by being himself.
