enjoying smb wonder but I have so many tiny nitpicks? they don't kill the game by any means but like

-only one run button, so you can't hold one and press the other to swing the elephant trunk and shoot fireballs and such without losing speed. I was literally drafting a devblog post praising the ability to do that in Mario Maker a few days ago dhgdhdgd. I get that X is the emote button but damn

-just pressing jump while airborne and touching a wall isn't enough to perform a wall jump. you have to push into the wall to enter the wallslide state first. I don't remember if this is the case in other Marios, or maybe Celeste has just spoiled me, but it's tripped me up a few times and seems unnecessary!

-the spin jump makes no sense cause like. no matter how long you press the button it's always the same height as a full normal jump. I guess this is because it can be motion controlled? I keep pressing ZR trying to get a low jump like in Mario Maker but I get the opposite instead. beyond that it also just generally seems to have next to no utility unless you really wanna do an entire full height jump to kill a koopa without getting the shell for some reason

-no triple jump? I mean I guess a thing similar to it is a badge now but. why. they coulda done a cute rising pitch thing with the jump sfx. maybe even a full chord on the final jump. woulda sounded so nice!

-speaking of which, the spin double jump badge is best badge easy (why even use half the badges that give extra height through other means when this one does it best), but it also misses the opportunity to do a rising pitch thing with the jump sfx. idk maybe they tried it and it sounded annoying or something. just weird for the first jump to make a musical sound and the second to do something different entirely

-the emote and item reserve buttons (X and A) do nothing if pressed while the run button is held. why??

-R and ZR both spin jump. Nice. ZL ground pounds and crouches. ok nice. L does... I think it does nothing at all? why? maybe I'm missing something?

-feels like the same few music tracks get reused a lot

-there's like one level with climbable poles, and you can jump off of them as expected, but pressing spin jump does nothing. "why would you ever want to do that?? why do you care about this cass??" because uhhhhhhhhh

-I love the concept of the vine grapple badge but it feels slow and jankass to use

-I always try to let go of dash panels or drop out from ceilings I'm drilling into by releasing the jump button, but you actually have to press jump. pressing jump to go down is really counterintuitive!!

-however, pressing jump does not drop you down when hanging from a horizontal pole (a mechanic in a level or two). to do that you have to press down... and then hold it for a short time..? why can't I drop down right away? "cass it's like one level???" ok yeah but you can't spin jump out of a hang either!!! what about that!!!

-ok lastly I don't get the point of elephant mario. being big isn't really an interesting ability and the melee attack is nothing new. the water spraying doesn't add much either because even if the stage you're in does happen to have water it's not a particularly good projectile. it's mainly only useful to water withered plant dudes. a key for a lock

......anyways hdgdhsgdgs game good I'm just surprised at how many tiny things feel off. maybe this is just what happens when the small details on a game are your whole job for several months lol

It can range from memory games to physical activity. Any puzzles really I can't think of any because I'm not smart HFKZGSIJX 😭😭 but I can say it definitely hits with the guys strengths and weaknesses, so some puzzles are very much possible for them to do.

When they fail a puzzle, the watches they have on are the main cause of their gain. They can not take it off.

The weight that is required, like in the gif with the boys needing to be 5 ton each for two people, would be halved. Like if the two lost, they'd gain half that weight. For an example, one person would only put on about 2,500 [so with two people would be 5,000 pounds together] which is a lot but that's what this damn blog is all about, bapy! So that would mean, depending on the amount of people, it will be halved and split off to each, if that makes sense.

Okay. So I think the most unrealistic part of Goinko is the fact that there was no one else Gojo could have fallen for. Rinko was literally perfect for him because she understood him on such a deep level.

And not in the sense that she was meant for him, but in the sense that she was the only one willing to understand him. Who wanted to learn who he truly was and see the person underneath the Six-Eyed god.

By the time she fell in love with him, Rinko was able to come to terms with it because she knew Gojo wouldn't end up with someone else. She accepted they would never be more because she knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Gojo would never end up settling down with anyone. I think it would have been different if there was a genuine possibility that he could have met and fallen in love with someone else. It was likely unhealthy of her to do, but it was something that helped her cope. It was okay that he wasn't going to choose her because he wasn't going to choose anyone.

As for how she felt early on?

I haven't put too much thought into how she handled it early on if I'm being honest, but I think it's that she expected nothing from him except sex. She expected him to be emotionally detached, and she repeated to herself over and over that his actions did not imply feelings or genuine affection. But I think something else that probably helped was that she was almost always busy. She was on a job, or she was going to see Megumi, or having dinner with Shoko or Nanami... I think it was that she made an effort to fill her life with more than a relationship because she believed she would never have one. She shut off that possibility and convinced herself she would never have it.

After Yuzuki died, Rinko kinda gave up on ever having or creating a family of her own. It was the old cliche of 'love finds you when you stop looking for it' type thing. She gave up on a family, on marriage and kids. And then she accidentally fucking adopted a ton of kids and ended up marrying the idiot who, for the first seven years she really knew him, only wanted to be friends and have sex.

I might go back and write a few little blurbs because they obviously had conversations about how he thought love was a curse and things like that. I think that as they got closer, as they became friends, they had those talks and talked about relationships and why neither of them was really seeking one.

But the main reason it worked so well for so many years is that they were genuinely on the same page for what they wanted from their arrangement.

Things started cracking when they stopped communicating. And they stopped communicating when Gojo began realizing he could and did want more.

Well as I said in another post, COTL's canon characterization is extremely vague, so the fanon characterization is kinda all over the place and hard to pin down! So it's hard for me to say "everyone gets [x] character wrong" because everyone has a different interpretation of That Guy.

I think I should just say everyone gets EVERY character wrong except ME, because I'm the smartest person ever and always right. So there /j

actually one (1) criticism I have is that not nearly enough people are portraying Shamura as having almost complete memory loss and I think that's a shame. because there's so much more potential in that. there's so much more agony present there, from all sides involved. there is no just punishment. there is no way for them to ask for forgiveness OR apologize, or make up for it, or even know they did anything wrong.

Uhhhhhhhhh episode five season who cares I see a chart we're going to analyze it the English spellings are small and in a weird font so bear with me, and in case my mom ever finds this we will be doing family names first so she doesn't have any reason to believe I don't listen to her monologues about how cool it was to live in Japan

Ok, First place is Bakugo aka bully boy, with 77 villain (robot killing) points, and 0 rescue (saving people points). 100 % villan, 0% rescue. Obviously he was just blowing up robots (edit: about 38.5 robots)

Second place, Kirishima Eijiro, 39 v, 35 r, 74 total. 53% v, 47% r. So whats interesting about this is we see Midoriya save people through destroying a robot, and then being graded by a panel of judges based off of that save, which gives interesting context to this data. First of all, assuming they (Kirishima) killed an equal number of each robot, that would put them at 6.5ish robots each point level, or about 19.5 robots total, (this putting Bakugo at about 38.5 robots) So even though Kirishima killed half as many robots as Bakugo, they still either preformed a large amount of small scale rescues for a few points each, or some larger rescues, for more over all points; in total putting them at only 3 less points. What's interesting about this, is the judge panel, which seems to have been scoring rescues on a scale of 1 to 10, meaning one more rescue could have put Kirishima as top performer in the exam, while one rescue on Bakugo's part could have put him in a much firmer lead. Of course, it could also be possible that the score of 1-10 from multiple judges determines whether or not each person rescued counts as one point, which I find unlikely given the time limit. Unless you think Kirishima could have some how saved 35 people and killed 19.5 robots, in like ten minutes, but I digress. Final count: 39/53% v, 35/47% r, 74 t, aprox. 19.5 robots.

3rd, Uraraka Ochaco. 28 v, 45 r, 73 t. 38% v, 62% r. 14ish robots. Also very close to Bakugo, and only one point difference from second place. Seeing as she was trapped under rubble for the final few minutes of the exam, she easily could have made up those four points given more time, though she may not have been in a position to save Midoriya, which likely would have cost her significantly. Final count 28/38% v, 45/62% r, 73 t, aprox 14 robots.

4, Shiozaki Ibara, 36 v, 32 r, 68 t. 53% v, 47 % r, 18ish rbts. Almost equal percentages for v/r points as Kirishima (percents have been rounded to nearest whole number for clarity), as well as destroying almost as many robots. Shiozaki has 5 less points than Uraraka, being the largest jump we've seen so far, though not by much. Final 36/53% v, 32/47% r, 68 t, aprox 18 robots.

Fifth place, Kendo Itsuka, with 25 v, 40 r, and 65 total. 38% v, 62% r, 12.5ish rbts. Like Kirishima and Shiozaki, Uraraka and Kendo had almost identical percentages, with the same gap in estimated robot kills. Kendo and Shiozaki also had the same gap between ranks as Bakugo and Kirishima, with only 3 points. Final: 25/38% v, 40/62% r, 65 t, aprox 12.5 rbts.

6th, Iida Tenya, aka class president who wants to kill a man (cpwwtkam). 52 v, 9 r, 61 t, we can clearly see the beginning of his cpwwtkam arc here, as with Bakugo and Midoriya's literary foils to one another incidentally gives us the clear data of more violent = more villain points, making Iida the second most violent person of the top ten, although his 9 rescue points would suggest he has never physically threated a class mate, or told them to commit suicide, no, I have not forgotten that, bully boy bakugo. Moving on, Iida has 85% v, and 15% r, with 26ish rbts. Final: 52/85% v, 9/15% r, 61 t, and aprox 26 rbts.

7th, Midoriya Izuku. 0 v, 60 r. 0% v, 100% r. technically did kill a robot. Final: 0/0% v, 60/100% r, 60 t, Exactly 1 rbt.

Eighth place, Tetsu x4. 49 v, 10 r, 59 t. 83% v, 17% r, 24.5ish rbts. Why did they name them like that. Total: 49/83% v, 10/17% r, 59 t, aprox 24.5 rbts.

Ninth, Tokoyami Fumikage. 47 v, 10 r, 57 t. 82% v, 18% r, 23.5ish rbts. What's interesting about this is that the further down the chart we go, the higher the percent of villain points (Bakugo and Midoriya not included). 47/82% v, 10/18% r, 57 t, aprox 23.5.

10th place, Awase Yosetsu. 50 v, 6 r, 56 t. 89% v, 11% r, 25ish rbts. idk, what can i even say that i havent already. 50/89% v, 6/11% r, 56 t, aprox 25 rbts.

i really like this exchange. barely any words wasted they're jsut on the same page. also i really really love how sonic talks, his patterns of speech. he drops evry word and syllable that he can, slurs together and conjuncts fucking everything. you just know he's schwa-ing all over he place. schwa refers to /ə/ in ipa, the easiest sound to make in english, like "uhhhhhhhhh" or the a in "about" or "the" in most north american dialects. when sonic talks you really get the sense that a) he's conveying as much information as possible in the least words as quickly as he can and b) he is a teenage boy. god i love the way he talks it's so fun to think about I LOVE LINGUISTICS AND I LOVE THE WAY CHARACTER IS REFLECTED THROUGH SPEECH. "UGH! [do you] wan[t to] split up? [do] you want [to fight] rough or--?" see how much is ommitted?? i love "m'kay" too. m'kay is just another thing thats easier/faster to say. but i just think its the neatest thing in the world give me excuses to talk about they different ways characters speak AND I WILL. getting futher off topic but i truly love how in sonic characters everything about their personalities is reflected throughout their designs and behaviours so well. this is my new favourite panel of anything ever. firstly, FUNNEY. secondly i rlly like this cause it shows how tails is thinky. like yeah ofc he's a genius, but like this move, throwing the stink capsules back at rough, is the kind of thing sonic would do on instinct y'know? whereas tails is out here actively calculating parabolas. reminds me of how humans are specially adapted to throwing things, because of the spears our ancestors used or whatevr, and we're great at estimating parabolas subconsciously. tails is anthropomorphic and thusly can be assumed to generally have some of the adaptations that humans have, and here he is consciously calculating parabolas. i just think this is neat :]

When you first meet Revali, the interaction is...interesting, to say the least. While his mannerisms are definitely different to some of the more accommodating Rito, you didn’t pay his attitude much mind

Any signs of passive aggressiveness you detected from his tone, you brushed to the side, chalking it up to the busy Rito probably having a bad day. His snide remarks? He just has a different sense of humour. His arrogance? You saw right through it, and made it a point to always keep his spirits up 

For the most part, you really enjoyed his company, especially given that the way he always acted around you was so...uh, what’s the word… Unique? Cute? Entertaining? You’d probably settle for any adjective with a positive connotation

As for Revali, you were driving him up the walls

If it weren’t for your nerves about the impending procedure you’d agreed to for reasons unknown to even you, you would most definitely have been a melted puddle at the feet of the nurse— no, god— currently looking down at you.

After finishing off the drink they’d given you, you gave Jin a small wave, flashing him a smile when he took the empty can from your hands to set it out of the way. “Feeling good enough to make it to the lobby?”

“Yeah, I think I’m fine now,” you answered honestly. Sure, you felt a little tired, and your stomach was slightly queasy, but you could definitely make it out of the room and down the hallway.

The ground began to sway beneath you, your feet fighting to take even one more step forward. It felt like somebody had thrown a weighted blanket over your head. The tugging became more incessant; it felt like the unknown force was pulling at the string to your soul, rendering your desperate attempts to stay conscious useless. You’d never felt anything like this before. It wasn’t like when you drift off in class or stand up too quickly; it was as if you were losing touch with reality, death knocking on your front door.

You managed to clamber back onto the bed, your vision returning to you once you’d laid down for a few seconds. The voices of the nurses were still muffled as they gave you gentle instructions to lift your feet up so they could elevate them, and you blinked with force a few times in an attempt to fully regain your senses.

“This might be a little chilly,” you recognized Jin’s voice as he lifted the front of your shirt slightly, slipping an ice pack into it so it would rest on your chest. The quick temperature change gave you something to focus on, and when Jin spoke up again, his voice was clear in your mind instead of muffled like before.

“Can you sip on this for me?” he asked gently, setting down another can with a straw next to your head. You nodded yes, reaching over to hold the can still as you wrapped your lips around the straw carefully.

The following minutes consisted of occasional reminders to continue moving your legs and gentle touches on your shoulders accompanied by questions of “Feeling better?” Jin was usually the one asking, and deep down, you felt a little guilty. Realistically, you knew that he’d dealt with situations like this many times before, but you still felt like you were inconveniencing him and the rest of the staff.

After what seemed like a thousand years, he gently lifted the back of the bed into a raised seat position, allowing you to move into an upright position more easily. “We’re gonna try this again. Move as slowly as you can. I’ll help you out if you need me to.”

Nodding, you began to swing your legs over the side of the bed once again. Apparently, it was still too fast for his liking, because he gently grabbed your legs and moved them at the pace he saw fit, murmuring “Easy, easy,” gently beneath his breath.

Carefully placing your feet onto the ground below, you gradually placed your weight on them, nervous that the ground would start to sway like it had before. Much to your relief, all you felt was a slight dizziness; nothing compared to what you’d felt earlier.

When you looked back up, Jin was staring down into your eyes, his gaze flitting around your face to check for any sign of unwellness before he smiled and nodded towards the doorway. “Follow me and let me know if you start to feel faint again.”

You smiled gratefully at him, following him slowly out into the hallway and towards a set of fluffy chairs. When you took a seat, he handed you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, instructing you to snack on it while you waited.

“Do you think you can drive yourself?” A different nurse kindly asked, roughly fifteen minutes after you’d sat down. Your immediate reaction is to say yes, but after a second thought, you realize it might not be a great idea.

“I’m not sure,” you admit sheepishly, “I can see if my brother Hoseok can come and pick me up, but he’s at work, so it might be a little while—”

“Wait, Hoseok as in Jung Hoseok?” Your head whipped towards the sound of Jin’s voice a few steps away from you. He was escorting a middle aged man towards the seating area, just like he’d done with you a few minutes ago (although the man seemed to be in much better shape than you’d been in).

“Yeah, you know him?” You were a little surprised, but not shocked. After all, being the social butterfly he was, your brother seemed to know pretty much everyone in town.

“He’s pretty close with a few of my buddies,” Jin explained with a smile on his face, “Now that I think about it, I actually owe him a favor or two. Want me to give you a ride home?”

“O-oh, I couldn’t ask you to do that,” you waved your hands wildly in front of yourself, “I’m fine with waiting here for a little longer.”

“It’s no trouble, I promise. My shift is over in five anyways.”

“If you’re really sure…” you rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly, thankful for his offer but still feeling a little guilty accepting it.

“I am. Let me go pack up and we can get out of here.”

Twenty minutes later, you were walking up the steps to your house with Jin by your side (he’d insisted on walking you to the door) when a previously unconsidered issue popped into your head. “Oh, I almost forgot! What are we going to do about my car? It’s still back in the parking lot.”

Jin stopped walking, taking a minute to consider before speaking up. “I work another shift in the morning, so if you don’t mind getting up a little early, I can swing by here and take you with me.”

“T-that works for me.” A look of confusion crossed your face when he held out his phone to you.

“If it’s okay with you, I can text you when I get here in the morning?” You nodded enthusiastically, quickly typing your number into the empty contact before sliding his phone back into his hands.

“See you tomorrow,” he grinned, throwing you a thumbs up before you shut the door behind you.

Unknown, 7:38am: hey! this is jin, the handsome nurse who took you home last night in a very platonic and non-romantic way. i’m parked outside ;)

Throwing on your hoodie and snatching your keys from the entryway table, you quickly locked the door behind you and scrambled into Jin’s car, ignoring the way he chuckled at your flustered state. The ride back to your car went by in a comfortable silence, the two of you sneaking glances at each other when you didn’t think they were looking.

Was Jin this attractive yesterday? Surely not. The morning sun was shining through the windshield, causing his raven hair to sparkle and his plump lips to shimmer in the light. His long lashes brushed his cheeks every time he blinked, making your heart beat a little faster with each passing moment.

You were startled out of your thoughts when the car was put in park, a small smirk present on his face when you realized he’d caught you staring.

“Uh-umm,” you stuttered, heat rushing towards your cheeks, “Thanks for the, uh, the ride.”

You scrambled to let yourself out of his vehicle when he gently grasped your wrist, a glint of mischief in his eye when you visibly gulped at the contact.

“Are you free this evening?”

“H-huh?” you blinked, tilting your head to the side in confusion.

“If you don’t have any plans, I’d like to take you out,” he explained with a wink, “Apologies if I’m being too forward. You’re just really cute, and if you’re anything like Hoseok, I can see us getting along really well.”

“Wow, you sure know how to charm a girl, comparing her to her brother while trying to ask her on a date,” you managed to tease slightly, giggling when his eyes widened by a fraction. “I’d love to go out with you tonight.”

“Alright, I’ll text you later to set a time, if that’s okay?” There was a slight blush on his cheeks, contradicting the confident persona he’d put on not even five minutes beforehand.

“Sounds like a plan,” you grinned, giving him a small wave before shutting the car door and making your way towards your own vehicle.

I definitely get you when it comes to A/B/O - I mean, I love the trope but even I struggle to find fics that I enjoy because of my annoyingly specific taste when it comes to characterization/plot and things like that, it definitely is even harder since one of the biggest ships in the fandom is my NOTP lmao

okay first   -you know the more i think about it the more pissed i am that botkin only did show up for a hot second -i hope he shows up more if there's another season but?????? what a MISSED opportunity with alina!!!!! like!!!!!!!!!!! i can't believe it honestly  -not ONLY is there more of him in the book!! but it would've been great with alina being shu!!!!  -they really didn't think that through, did they. botkin is RIGHT THERE and they missed him  -take out nina and put in botkin!! or take out all the crows and give them the justice they deserve in their own season and put in botkin!!!! (the books, as enjoyable as they were to read, still suffer so much in terms of pacing and not having a super tight plot and the show should’ve taken advantage of the opportunity to make changes to make it better and 90% of the time the show just finds a way to drop the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!) 

-also i don't remember what article i read this in, if it was the slate one or a different one, about alina deserving a teacher who doesn't, know you, beat her with a stick  -like, as usual! ON THE ONE HAND baghra is allowed to be a character that's not a good person. characters are allowed to not be good people. that's fine. i like baghra!  -on the other hand..............................................don't smack your students nobody learns from being smacked around 

i was really excited to see alina not take the path baghra told her to -- because again i had been disappointed to see the show not make any major changes to make the plot better (crows interacting with alina doesn’t count bc as people have rightly pointed out, the crows plotline really doesn’t matter here it’s just them having a good time and filling in space) so to see alina do something different and actually show a lot of agency and be competent on her own was great!!!! wish it hadn’t taken like five episodes to get there, though!!!! i know a lot of it is because she’s completely out of her element in the little palace but that’s a big complaint about alina across the board, that she doesn’t have the most distinct personality, and to see her thinking for herself and especially thinking outside of mal was nice also her getting in the carriage the crows are stealing was the funniest thing  oh but her setting the maps on fire in episode one does not count, because that was completely unnecessary, there was no reason to not just have all the cartographers go in the first place like in the book. 

-i was kind of rooting for arken, because he was just enjoyable with the crows, and because i just completely forgot about kaz seeing him meeting zlatan, but good for kaz for being on top of that, that’s my boy 

-that’s a shame about marie  -but uhhhhhhhhh -“i don’t want to die with the wrong face on” i get what she’s saying but i thought that was. weird 

in the continuing ‘nina and alina have similar things happening and i still don’t know what to make of it????????????’ thoughts, nina and matthias trying to keep warm / alina and mal trying to keep warm, matthias being afraid of nina / mal not being afraid of alina i love nina a lot but i am just not invested in nina here  oh and nina was spying for the darkling??? i don’t have the energy to think about if that tracks for nina’s character  also i never thought about how kind of uncomfortable all her lewd lines are, not because matthias is uncomfortable, but because nina comes off sounding less teasing or flirty and more kind of pushy and creepy  they’ve only known each other for............how long  what is even time here 

-it’s not that baghra isn’t threatening but........no it’s that baghra wasn’t threatening  -her talking to the darkling was like. it was weird? there should be so much weight and power in them talking to each other 

-i did like that she said to alina that the darkling had a lot of practice manipulating naive girls cause, yeah girl that’s what it was -you thought you decided to kiss him yourself???? you think he was really surprised??????? nnnnnnnnnnnnnno  -the thing is i have like very little sympathy for the darkling. very little. i get the allure, everybody who was ever a teenager gets the allure of the dark emo boy wearing all black with the tortured past, i’ve been there!!! i did my time!!!!!!  -i am still doing my time. we’ve all seen kaz.  -and yes i suppose ben barnes is. good-looking. -look it’s the beard. i just hate that beard. -and the darkling and alina are, not an interesting pair, but interesting halves  -two people with completely opposite powers, one who knows how to use them and has for centuries and the other who just discovered them, both the exact match for the other in terms of dark/light and scope of ability and lifespan, who are looking for a place of belonging but also a place of power  -and then he puts a collar on her to use her as his own personal weapon and their possible existence on even playing ground stops, cementing the gap in power dynamics that has been there from the start in their relationship, and always would be, and confirming him as manipulative power-hungry jackass #1 who doesn’t care about grisha or ravka but himself  -and he deserves what he gets in the end. (both times, even!!!!)  -so much so that the demon in the wood is included in the back of ruin and rising and when i got to it i was like ‘okay but the dude’s dead now so i don’t care about this sudden backstory i am being given’ and i did not read it. to this day. i have not. 

-also the darkling kisses alina like he’s physically attacking her and you know what??? that tracks, i guess

long rant abt sh.ades of m.agic under the cut sorry

i’m 150 pages into the last book and honestly.............. this trilogy not that good lmao. maybe some my complaints will be resolved by the end of the series but seeing how things have gone so far i really doubt it. the premise and worldbuilding were so promising and i really like the whole concept of the four londons, i like kell’s character design and coat, and i like the way blood is used for magic but that’s where the good stuff ends. it’s a shame that the plot and cast can’t hold up to the core concept. lila is SO annoying and the way that the only major female character in these books has a hUGE ‘im not like other girls’ complex and actively derides other women and anything feminine and it’s presented as girl power is so bad and cringe. she walks around doing whatever illegal or self-entitled things she wants with no regard for the consequences and she never faces any consequences, from the law or from the narrative or from the people who care about her. her relationship with kell is weird too like they met and barely interacted before she kissed him and they suddenly start acting like their whole world revolves around the other. she’s sooooooooo mary-sue gifted like kell has trained his whole life to do magic so of course he’s amazing but lila has two (2) lessons with some annoying pirate and suddenly she can go toe to toe with kell and do insanely difficult magic without even knowing what she’s doing. it’s bad writing brent.

i do like kell though, even if he is a little boring, and i like the tight bond he has with his brother. i think kell is the only person with any common sense in this book and he’s a breath of fresh air. but DO NOT GET ME STARTED on the blatant favoritism the king and queen show for their biological son. the way they treat kell as inferior leaves such a bad taste in my mouth like it’s bad enough that you would have a blatant favorite but on top of it kell saved rhy’s life three different times and they can’t even say thank you or acknowledge his sacrifice?? they’re so cold to him and for what. kell basically died to save his brother and the parents respond by essentially grounding their adult son and it’s gross. and then rhy is every pretty flirty privileged boy stereotype rolled into one and he grates on my nerves and what’s really bad is that he has the EXACT same personality as his love interest which makes reading these books SUPER WEIRD because the two of them look physically similar and have become literally interchangeable in my mind. adding alucard (i hate that name so much omfg) to the cast was just adding a second rhy to the mix and he seems to have very little bearing on the plot. would it kill authors to not make every bisexual character a flirts-with-anything-that-moves stereotype. you should be ashamed of yourself.

also literally nothing of importance happened in the second book until the very end and there was actually no point to that entire tournament and most of the stuff could have been cut. holland is the only mf in this city i respect and the only one with nuance and a compelling character. i feel so bad for him bc he just cannot catch a break and everyone hates him so much even though he was being controlled against his will, and the other characters know this but they still abuse him. and there r a bunch of unexplained issues with the magic system (like how did athos dane summon a big snake???) and the power scaling (or maybe it’s just all thrown off because of lila’s supernatural gifting).

it feels to me like schwab was just like ‘uhhhhhhh what do people like these days ... people like boys with mysterious backstories so i’m uhhhhhhhh literally never gonna explain how my main character got his powers or where he came from. people like uhhhhhhhhhh strong female characters so my one and only female character of importance is gonna hate everything about being a woman. people like diversity so im gonna give them uhhhhhhhhh two horny bisexual poc men who are nigh indistinguishable from each other’ and hoped the story would write itself

(Can be headcannon)     this isn't a "least fav" so much as "it makes me sad" but if either of them showed any sign of not being interested anymore the other is more likely to give up then push anything. sort of like "it was bound to happen, so i'll enjoy now until they drop me" or EVEN WORSE they think the other would be better off without them and pushes them away. so yeah the fact i can see one of these happening makes me sad.

If they aren’t a canon pairing, how would you get them together?     they give off "everyone knows we're dating but us" energy but at the same time i feel like they'd acknowledge there's something and just not define it bc a) they don't need to (misumi) or b) they're too nervous to (kazu). in other words i think one day they are holding hands and misumi says "kazu? is this dating?" and kazu holds his breath before asking "do you want it to be?"

Why?     OOOOOH BOY well. i think it could be either of them. i don't think they'd break up for lack of love but too much love and wanting the other to be happy and thinking that the only way to give them that is to let them go. so i guess the question is which of them would be more likely to be selfish and hold on. thinking this way, i think misumi would be more likely to break-up, bc kazu has lots of friends who are better than him!! and misumi is more ready to leave if he thinks he needs to than kazu is. now im sad.

Are they relatable as characters or as a pairing?     THE NUMBER OF TIMES I'VE BEEN CALLED KAZU KIN... in all seriousness kazu's struggles with speaking out and (shinobi spoilers) his uncertainty over his future hit real close to home... while i don't relate as much as misumi, his struggles always manage to tear my heart into pieces... ((oversharing alert) i guess what really separates me from misumi is his struggle with his desire to connect with family who has treated him poorly... whereas im more "lol fuck you") tldr i relate to kazu slightly more LOL

Did you once/ever dislike one/both of them?     i never disliked them but i was NOT expecting either of them to shoot up so quickly into my favs list ahdjahdjf. also i started shipping them Immediately After reading summer main story so there's that

On an estimate, how many posts have you made about them?    as of september 28th 2020 i make up 11/78 fics on ao3 in the romantic misukazu tag and 2/12 in the platonic one. i may have brainrot.

What made you decide to ship them?     TBH I FINISHED THE MAIN STORY AND WENT "OH MY GOD... THAT'S MY SHIP" but now that i'm here i continue to ship them because they have the potential to bring out both the best and the worst in each other and i'm all about that

Favorite genre for them? (Angst, fluff, etc.)     angst. i just. angst hurt/comfort all the way. im so sorry babies.

lol you thought there would just be 21 ANYWAY EXTRA 1: how do they spend breaks/vacation?    they'd travel a lot when they're older!! kazunari loves to travel and misumi would follow kazunari anywhere (also, new triangles!!) so they go somewhere new whenever they have the time. however i think eventually one or both of their future careers will take them anywhere and everywhere anyway, so their "ideal vacation" might turn into an evening in, cuddling and catching up (as if they didn't already send play-by-play updates over the phone of whatever they did during the day)

EXTRA 2: first date?     i don't they ever have an explicit first date, but if asked they'll cite the time they had a picnic in the park turned triangle hunt turned accidental dip in the duck pond. at least, kazunari will. misumi just tilts his head and wonders what you mean.

EXTRA 3: gifts?     IM FEELING REALLY CHEESY SO I'M MAKING THIS ABOUT ANNIVERSARY GIFTS they both end up getting each other jewelry (although kazu was really really nervous bc he wasn't sure if misumi would wear it). kazu gets misumi a bracelet (with triangles, of course although misumi only wears it sometimes because he doesn't want to lose it) and misumi gets kazu a pair of triangle earrings "so we can match!" and kazunari combusts at the implications

EXTRA 4: sharing clothes     THEY'RE ACTUALLY AROUND THE SAME SIZE (and tend to wear baggier stuff barring kazu's skinny jeans)... but they have completely different Styles so it's still really obvious when steal each other's stuff ahdjajdkaf. as cute as kazu would look in sumi's sweatshirt i think the much more likely scenario is kazu wrapping misumi in his jackets because this boy nEVER BRINGS HIS ANYWHERE anyway just. accidental shared wardrobe misukazu.

EXTRA 5: lake house au    consider: kazunari living in a house on the shore of a lake for a summer for Art Purposes (and a little bit for Dealing With Life purposes but he's not gonna admit that) and meets his lake neighbor misumi who kazu thinks might be a ghost or spirit for a while but he actually just lives further down the lake and misumi unknowingly helps kazu with his Life Issues and maybe they fall in love
