Tutorial: Custom Lighting, Moons, and Weather For Each Installed World

For those of us who play in multiple worlds, it can be hard to choose an appropriate custom lighting mod; what suits Monte Vista may not be entirely appropriate for Aurora Skies! When adding weather mods to the mix, and moon replacements, and cloud replacements, it’s very easy to tear one’s hair out in frustration and despair. However, it is entirely possible to have custom lighting, moon, and weather mods in each installed world. Here is how it’s done.

Necessary Items

A custom world you wish to edit

Various lighting, moon, and weather mods you like

Basic knowledge of S3PE (opening packages, exporting files, and replacing package contents)

Step 1: Collect Your World and Mods.

Choose the world you wish to edit. In our example, I am editing risastorm's alien world, Lunestia, to have the following aesthetic changes:

Brntwaffle's Triple Cotton Candy Mint Swirl Berry Lighting Mod

sims3legacies’ Titan Moon Replacement

Memeingfulcorndoge’s Moon Resizer (at 2x enlargement)

I like the weather from Triple Swirl, so I am not copying another mod’s weather, but you can do that if you wish!

Step 2: Turn Your INIs into Outies!

(I slay myself.) 

Once you have downloaded all your chosen mods, open each mod in S3PE and extract their INIs and/or Keys. Use CTRL-A to select all the files, and import them to a working file by right-clicking and choosing “Export To File.”

Step 3: Editing Your World

Open your Installed Worlds folder (Documents→EA→The Sims 3→Installed Worlds) and find the world you want to edit. 

Copy it and paste it into your working file, where you extracted all your INI and Key files. It should look something like this.

Open your world in S3PE; it will look something like this.

Click “Resource→Import From File.”

Navigate to your work folder and import all your INI and Key files.

Click “Open,” and the following window will pop up. Be sure to click “Replace Duplicates,” or else we will have done nothing to your file, and then click “Import.”

Finally, save your work! 

When you’ve done this, just replace your original world in your Installed Worlds file with your new one, and enjoy your aesthetic improvements!

T:No…..i mean yesterday i went back to manhattan to find my gift certificate because i dowsed and it said there weren’t going to be any sessions. So i felt like that was a good day to look for it.

S: Ah. did you find it?

T: Yes.

S: Good. that’s for your passport?

T: yeah.

S: Cool. ….Hey I’m gonna share something with you. The woman that i actually help and live in her buildings and stuff, you and her on the same transits. I’d look at you rchart and i was like i know this chart, and then i’d look at your chart and i’d say i know these transits..to myself i’d say “they’re both having the same transits, and they’re both going to italy”

T: are you serious?

S: isn’t that crazy? And she has the same pluto thing you have. The same jupiter. The same shit. I’m just laughing, because these are my outer-reflected females and they’re getting ready to go to this part of the world that is the passionate, the deep..italy

T:oh my gawwwd

S: and you’re like going to your home blood system& she’s going to where her daughter’a going, first time away from home, first transatlantic flight...she’s not becoming not an au pair…..

T: oh, so the daughter is going?

S: the daughter is straight on fucking going so i’m laughing looking at this saying this is wonderfully mysterious………i think pluto was just on your lilith, all that shit in virgo..jupiter ..and she was having it too on her pluto.

T: that is wild.

S: and she took carcinosin through me, two doses, and she slept in two days 34 hours and she’s been dreaming of...she was born out of an egg as an amphibious creature, and then a dream where she was a snake and...like a snake egg, and the emergence and all the shedding of the skin and shit. How interesting. Last night i dreamed of all these piles of money around me and all these gold coins, and all these things that were translating into money….and i just woke up and went, thats so amazing.

S: uh huh

T: but i had this dream where it was very surreal, but the line that i kept hearing was i want to talk to louise sutton, i want to talk to louise sutton, and then i was dowsing...i’ve been dowsing like crazy since friday, because i found the pendulum that i lost at the hotel where the fire was, and i was asking about the baby, i was asking about her name, and if she wanted to be called something other than “spirit baby” you know, and i was like playing around asking for names, and then i asked if her name was louise, and then louise sutton, and she said yes. And i asked if the dream was about her, and they said yes. I’ve been dreaming crazy too, it feels like it’s tied to i don’t know exactly what, but my sleep has been nuts.

S: so much stuff is opening and whats very unusual are these astrological formations. T: Ummm, what do you mean exactly?

Steel: Well..a friend has been talking today kinda about spirits, her teacher someplace in the east coast is a witch,well a processed witch, a sorceress, and she just does these large events where all these people come on and skype with her and she’s doing this whole thing now bout the spirit worldopening…..something they’re all doing collectively with us who are alive. So its kinda interesting that you’re telling me this.

T: Well i definitely have gotten new access with..i was doing some work with the pendulum but now that i ..i was walking to this resto, and i had on this sweater, and i found the old pendulum in my pocket, and it was CRAZY the stuff i found out

Like i just happened to just i dont know why i felt called to send jakk this letter and i started dowsing, and i got all this info, and i started asking questions that i never would be pulled to, normally…...like i started asking questions about blond, and...it’s possible that i’m wrong, but i don’t think i’m wrong at all. You know? I think that….i think this is about to come to completion. I think they’re done. I think that she read my letter, and i think they’re done, and i think she’s been having an affair since june, and i think that it’s done. Anyway so all this stuff came up with the baby. You know the baby has always been around me, and i knew that, but…..in the lat couple of days i’ve been working with…..the ..using my own system, but it’s like how do you know though? I could be wrong and if i’m wrong with all this information..

S: is it the kind of information that you’re talking about, that you’re looking at what’s coming?

T: well, i’m also relying on this for staying in the hotel, and taking on clients in this way, ...you know the way i’ve been doing for the last couple weeks, and typically it’s been..it works though.

Steel: you’re having accuracy.

T: yeah!

Steel: so yeah, that’s your stuff. Yeah. (Laughs. )

T: it works better for me than tarot does.

S: this is exactly what i feel about all this, whoever you are and who you embark upon in your necromancy or whatever you want to call it it can be cards, it can be matches in a matchbox, it can be reading the clouds….i’m looking at all these people laying on their backs, and they’re staring up in the sky, and i’m staring all up in the clouds, and i’m seeing all over, mythical beings are emerging out of the clouds, like huge lions, like the great resplendent lions, i read the clouds. All my life i’ve done this, ever since i wasa child. So i totally support exactly…..my sense is that whatever this cycle you’re in, whatever the work is, it’s somehow coalescing, and then when you tell me this...kathy just told me this today, she does this too. You guys are in a similar thing. She would...she watches the Leo King like you do, and she said “he’s going crazy” and I’m like, look at what he’s doing, look how many people are hooking into him, it’s all mutab le le signs, this is all mercury right now, and one of our new people who are living in the building started chattering to her and she’s like, oh by the way if you’re going to be living with anybody, why don’t you give me their names so i can do a background check on them so we can see if they’re a sex offender so we’ll save you some mileage in case you’re going to live with a sex offender” and the girl looked at her, her eyes got really big and she said “what are you talking about?”

“Oh i was just joking.”

“No you weren’t. “

The last guy she was with...she didn’t know it but he was a sex offender.

T:oh my god…

Steel: but kathy does this, she reads stuff all the time. Like she’s��.she’ll be walking down the street and her eyes will just find ..you know those computer sticks you can find your info on?

T: yeah.

Steel: she found a stick laying in the gutter, and she put it in her pocket. And one of her employees had lost it! And she works at the theater all the way across town. It was her stick. I left, when i first moved here, i left my cell phone on a rock in a place where i sit when i watch the sunset go down, and i was like oh great my phone’s gone, but when i got home there a yogurt container on my porch with my cell phone in it. And kathy had found it. And she didn’t know who’s it was until she turned it on. Isn’t that funny? Its similar in a way..i do that with women...there are girls around me...over the summer i saw her in the yard and said “ are you pregnant?” and she goes, no i’m not!

“Really?”

“Why?”

“Well sometimes i can see a little spirits...i don’t see them with my eyes but i see them.

T: yeah.

Steel: you can see them..sensing see them,,little spirits..i just have a knowing there are little spirits hanging around that woman and she’s probably going to get pregnant soon, that’s why they’re choosing her as a mother. And the summer went on...two days ago she comes knocking on my door.

“Steel?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m pregnant.

But I’m not that far along. I wasn’t when you were talking to me. “

I said “they were choosing you honey.”

And another girl says “i want a reading from you!”

(laughs)

So this is what happens...these kind of people. This is how it’s going to happen to you. It happened when i first came, now it’s happening again, because i have these senses, not really astrology, it’s certainty in knowing, and then you start to see like….it’s curious when you start to have certainty around your devices whatever ..sometimes you’ll just know things. You’ll just...know. Like somebody...i’ll just practice with kathy and say, somebody’s going to move out of the apartment. She says, how do you know? And i’ll say, I can feel it. And three days later, someone will say “I’m going to move out of my apartment because i want to go to a different place. “ so we kind of hook in. i don’t know how or why. You’re the same.
