Also I can see Toothless trying to deescalate things between the duo and riders... to surprisingly little success.

Aven's the one who realised what's going on and tries to calm Edda down.

Then everyone takes on awkward stare at each other.

Yyyyyeah... Or, at the very least, being the new alpha may not exactly help him. Have to do things the old fashioned way or somethin'.

And yeah, Aven would be the one to finally put two and two together... cue aaaaall the awkward stares. Someone breaks the silence with a "Soooo...... now what?" Edda promptly tries to fly off, thinking "small talk my beloathed."

@spectralgecko Here’s the HTTYD Dragon! Duo. I decided to switch up some things regarding their designs, including making them wingless.

Some more notes under the cut

Both have antlers. Aven, however, have one single antler in the center of his head (We'll get back to this in a bit)

Edda have paw-like talons, while Aven has scaled talons. Both have opposable thumbs for their manus/ "hands"

Scaled back and upper limbs for both. Fur for their mane, underside, rest of limbs and tail. Very silky and fluffy! Edda also have a scaled head.

Despite not having wings, they can float! Still trying to figure out why and how they do this...

Aven has a little Bob tail. This is because I ended up deciding to base him partially on the Lion dance costumes, with the single antler and nub tail.

Insides of their mouths are the same colour as their inner ear, and glows in the dark.

They also have very long fangs

Very big, around 8 feet tall at the shoulder. Aven is slightly shorter than Edda, height-wise.

They can still use magic attacks... surprisingly-

Oh! Pupils are roughly cross-shaped and a darker version of the iris colour. They also have black sclera and their eyes glow in the dark.

Duo, due for being sapient, tries to talk to the riders. Unfortunately, they can't understand them.

... the Riders do notice that they're unusually smart

Oh dear-

They try and all that comes out is weird musical roaring. They are confused and a little sad. Someone probably picks up on the idea that they're communicating though. The other dragons... might be able to pick it up? But also maybe not?

But yeah, someone is gonna pick up on how smart they are. I can see Hiccup or Fishlegs trying to coordinate a set of "intelligence" tests to see just how smart they are.

Cuddle pile! Yes! The duo just gets cuddle swamped by the other dragons-

Wait since the duo can float... I can see the Riders being very confused...

Also the Duo goofing off... and probably getting their stats tested. I do wonder what class they'll be in... maybe Mystery for the time being?

Oh most definitely. This is not a form of flying they're familiar with. Much Confusion. And possibly some freaking out.

Hehehe, all the goofing. Stat testing might be... a process, depending on how cooperative they're feeling. Might also depend on whether the riders realize that they understand them perfectly. I'd...bet they're probably Mystery, but I don't remember how classification works.
