if you have the time or inclination, can i ask what the deal with motogp/those boys is about? i don’t mean that in a mean way btw, im just curious and i love drama
i will try to be brief (1/4358)
SO! valentino rossi (born 16 February 1979, aquarius. italian.) is one of the most iconic people in motorsport, CERTAINLY in motogp. he's a 9 time world champion, your favorite driver's favorite driver, and is generally credited with revolutionizing the popularity of the sport by: a. being insanely good at motorcycle racing, and b. in general having a lot of fun about it. lethally charming and charismatic. all time active listening face. just a fun and funny dude that everyone pretty much likes and MANY younger riders idolize. VERY good at handling the media and his legions of cult-like fans. sometimes treated more like a god than a person. i was in the store yesterday and saw one of his themed monster energy drinks despite him retiring two years ago. his fun retirement activity is racing BMWs and running his own motogp team/training facility/cult for young italian racers. (this is where cele and bezz and basically every italian rider not named enea bastianini come from!)
so in 2011ish valentino had won 9 titles, and he decided to leave his current manufacturer and move to italian manufacturer ducati where he generally had a stone-cold terrible time. EXTENDED flop era for a couple years. any time ive watched content that covers this period everyone is so sad. so sad. anyways he GOES BACK to his old manufacturer in 2013 and is much more competitive. kind of just happy to be winning sometimes and be on the podium. 2013 is also where marc comes in. what could go wrong.
marc marquez! (born 17 february 1993, almost exactly 14 years after vale which i'm sure means nothing. also an aquarius. spanish.) childhood sports idols include: dani pedrosa, VALENTINO ROSSI.
marc carved his way up through the feeder championships until casey stoner unexpectedly retired at the end of the 2012 season leaving a seat empty on a VERY good bike for his rookie season. rocked up and was immediately VERY good at winning and very good at being a crazyinsane person on track that made people mad at him lol. hilarious habit of pissing people off via on-track crimes that i really enjoy. motogp riders are already crazy (they do death sport) but marc is famous for taking risks no one else will. basically if he's not winning, he's crashed out or he's maybe crashed YOU out. he wins the championship as a rookie (insane) and the next year's championship as well. heir apparent to the throne. sweet and goofy but is now known as one of the more reserved riders with the press. probably because of all this drama tbh. undisputed GOAT of acting like a slut on camera
throughout 2013-2014, marc and valentino had a good relationship! marc very clearly idolizes him and is like. bowled over completely with delight every time valentino looks his way. vale likes him! theyre buds! truly an endless well of pictures of vale explaining something with his hands and marc babygirling at him. highly recommend checking out @pgaslys every rosquez podium tag for contextual brain damage. insane times.
(IT SHOULD BE NOTED: before the 2015 season marc visits valentino at his practice track in italy, where they compete to break the track record and almost kill each other bc they are so pathologically competitive. APPARENTLY, marc showed up with some official mechanics and valentino was a little pissed off because it was supposed to be a like. fun thing. and to marc winning is the most fun! if you dont come to win why come at all! anyways marc breaks the track record and credits that to cooling their relationship a bit. good post about it here.) here they are that day:
so what could go wrong, right? WELL. valentino has a chance to win his tenth title in 2015. marc is on a flop bike and crashed a bunch so he's not in the championship conversation but vale is leading the standings from the jump, with his main opponent being jorge lorenzo. i think he really wanted that tenth, and dedicated himself to the season in a way he hadnt really ever before (he was a very effortless competitor when he was young. gym-adverse. king).
marc and him start to get into some scraps along the way, notably in argentina (where they made contact and marc crashed out), assen (where they made contact AGAIN and vale won the race), and phillip island (marc won. GREAT race available here for free). phillip island sees vale finishing P4 and jorge lorenzo finishing ahead of him in P3, reducing his championship lead by quite a bit. no real indication of any tension during these races, and they are asked about it!
this is where valentino's delulu era begins! basically, ahead of the next race (🔥🔥SEPANG 2015🔥🔥) in the pre-race press conference, he goes after marc, saying he was deliberately sabotaging valentino in phillip island because marc wanted jorge to win. in valentino's mind. marc wants jorge to win because a. they are both spanish (??) and b. it would mean marc has to win less titles to equal valentino's total. record scratch. freeze frame.
everyone (including marc!) thinks valentino is joking at first bc that is bananascrazyinsane. he was not joking. (it should be noted valentino STILL thinks this lol.) anyways marc is completely blindsided. he thought they were good! yeah they've been chippy on track but that's racing!! truly like. 22 years old and your friend (AND CHILDHOOD IDOL.) is calling you a snake in front of your face with NO prior warning to the entire motogp establishment writ large including your coworkers and REPORTERS. valentino wont even look at him the entire time. the press conference is available here on vimeo. excruciating gifsets of marc's very stiff bewildered PR smile found here.
anyways so. the race. marc is uh. pissed off. he's stuck to valentino like GLUE the entire time and they trade places a bunch of times. now marc is kind of famous for being a little asshole on track anyways, but its not like he's gonna get out of valentino's way and just let him pass after what he said in that press conference so. hand in unlovable hand <3. truly very fun to watch imo even with the sword of damocles hanging over them. marc is fucking on one the entire race and basically refuses to give valentino an inch until vale gets so fed up with his antics that um. well. it certainly looks like he kicked him. vale says he didnt, and that his leg accidently made contact with marc's bike. marcs says. he fucking kicked me. judge for yourself here!
so valentino gets hauled in front of race direction and penalized for the next race (the deciding race for the championship). he has to start from the back of the grid and it kills his chance at a tenth title stone dead. vale places the blame squarely on marc's shoulders and his legions of fans decide marc is public enemy number 1. him and jorge have to get security at the next race because of death threats, someone tries to break into marc's childhood home back in spain, marc's mom throws away all of marc's valentino merchandise from when he was a kid. vale says nothing.
but the thing about marc. is that he loves very hard and chooses his people pretty carefully. didnt really move out of his tiny hometown until he turned 30 and also made his baby brother move in with him kind of guy. so all this is not really enough for him to let go of vale entirely! 2016 is where the pain lives! bc marc is still reaching out and vale himself stays pretty cold for a couple years. they seem to faintly reconcile for a bit but its not anywhere like it was before sepang.
the real nail in the coffin is argentina 2018. another insane race where marc has to start from the back and goes on a rampage through the field and crashes out like three people. i cant remember. this race is also available on youtube for free its very entertaining. every five minutes marc does something insane. vale is one of the people marc crashes out and afterwardshe goes on a big rant about how marc is destroying the sport and is actively dangerous. marc goes to valentino's garage immediately after the race to apologize and vale doesnt even look at him. he gets turned away at the door after vale's best friend/assistant/henchman yells in his face1!!! and thats kind off all she wrote in terms of reconciliation
anyways that's where we are! they are both very much not over it. vale goes on podcasts and is like. in 30 years i will still be mad, im literally never going to get over it it was such a big and unfair thing and i think about it all the time like it was yesterday. and marc (lying) says as time goes by i dont even think about it :) and i care about valentino less and less :))) but yes he hurt me deeply lol. CANNOT stress enough how much this entire thing is now inextricably liked to both of their legacies. the two arguable GOATs of a sport had an epic fleetwood mac-style beatles breakup divorce and everyone wants to talk about it allllll day long including me :)
additional context! really recommend checking out marc's little docuseries he put out this year about his recent struggles with injury. he is so not right in the head and it goes over the valentino drama in ep3. theres also hitting the apex (2015) which goes over the 2013 season (marc's rookie season) and is a really good introduction to all the major players at the time. its like less than 2 hrs long so its not too much of a commitment
also recommend following scholars @babynflames, @its-always-silly-season, @baking-soda, and @f1vegas as well as many others im forgetting rn bc its 2am!

✧ From the moment he saw you, he knew he wanted you to be his, his Sano
✧ After you guys have been together for a good while, he'll definitely start thinking about marriage and having a family
⋄❥ Although tbh, he would talk about it all the time, every year
✧ The first thing he'll do is slowly try to incorporate talks of marriage and family to see your reaction, he wants it to be a surprise
✧ When you answer with a smile, he knows, you're ready
✧ He will go to Mitsuya the next moment to get EVERYTHING ready - the man hasn't even proposed yet. He takes Mitsuya's opinion on color, designs, etc. bc ur Mitsuya's #1 consumer
✧ He will be super fidgety and start internally screaming when it's time to propose, but he knows you won't hurt him
✧ He loves you so much don't reject the baby boi
You make him the happiest man in the universe
❧ He calls all his friends to boast the new "Fiancé" status, and makes sure you're there to see his reaction
❧ He will immediately start planning the whole wedding scene and talk about it with you -> Late night bed talks
❧ He will start calling you "Wife" in his head, and blushes a little every time
❧ Midnight rides to all your favorite places
❧ He wants an extravagant Wedding to make it the most memorable day of your life
❧ He doesn't release the engagement to the public, and doesn't like gathering attention to his personal life. Fans are one thing, media is another.
❧ He will travel the world with you, enjoying your last months before becoming wife and husband
You went from his companion to princess to queen to empress to goddess, you're his everything
❥ The wedding is extravagant, and he makes you feel like a diamond
❥ A lot of white, but some hints of blue and purple
❥ LOTS of dessert, he has a dorayaki on the cake
❥ He looks his most handsome, hair combed how you like it, and a tailor maid outfit by Mitsuya that you absolutely adore. You feel proud that this is your man
❥ The moment you enter, his eyes land on you immediately, and he can't stop staring. The way your dress embodies your heavenly beauty, the way your hair enhances your face, and how the hickey he gave you last night peeks out a bit, despite the make up artists' best efforts to hide it
❥ He never leaves your side. He's not clingy, but he wants to spend every moment with you.
❥ Everyone is happy for you two.
❥ He sheds a tear when you get married and happy cries when you two are alone
❥ He has the first dance with you, in a beautiful garden, under the moonlight, lights shining on the two of you
❥ He records the entire thing and shows it to your kids when they are getting married
He's your world

On July 30th 2003 Multi race winning Motorcyclist, Robert Steven ‘Hizzy’ Hislop died.
Hizzy, as he was affectionately known once said “If I’d never thrown my leg over a bike, I’d never have lived.”
Robert Steven Hislop grew up in the village of Chesters, near Hawick in the borders. His father started the interest of both he and his brother Garry in motorcycle racing. This was short lived at the time as he lost his father and a few years later his brother was killed at Silloth circuit. He ended up with a serious alcohol problem which led into depression.
Hizzy thankfully recovered and began his Isle of Man road racing career in 1983 by finishing second in the newcomers’ race at the Manx Grand Prix.
On short circuits, his first championship success came when he won the 250cc British Championship in 1990. Superbike victory followed with the British Superbike Championship in 1995. Some attributed his success to James Whitham leaving the series mid-season to deal with cancer.
Although he did not take a BSB victory in 1996 or 1997, Hislop was hired by Rob McElnea’s dominant Cadbury’s Boost Yamaha team for 1998. The nature of the fight for the championship between Hislop & team mate, fellow Scot. Niall Mackenzie, was illustrated by a near-collision on the last lap at Snetterton which cost the team a 1-2 finish. Hislop generally matched his countryman before a serious crash took him out of title contention.
His last championship success came in 2002 when he won the British Superbike Championship riding a Ducati. A notable feature of his season resulted from Hislop lapping Donington Park circuit more quickly on a superbike than the fastest Moto GP machine: Hislop’s modified production Ducati was heavier and less powerful than the bespoke Grand Prix bikes.
The 1992 Senior TT was described as an absolute classic. It is often described as one of the best races in TT history.
After their successful 1991 TT on all conquering Honda RVF machines, Hislop and Carl Fogarty had not planned to return in 1992. However, they both lined up on the Glencrutchery Road that year on unfancied machinery: Hislop was ona Norton with Fogarty on a Yamaha. The Norton Hizzy rode had been developed on a shoe string budget when compared with the Japanese competition. John Player had no intention of backing Steve’s TT campaign but after scratching around for some support and with minimal testing time, the team headed for the Isle of Man.
Hislop’s Norton took to the circuit in the unconventional white livery of Steve’s long term sponsor Abus. Hislop and the team defied the bike’s detractors by taking a fine 2nd place in the opening TT F1 race. The bike proved it could complete 6 laps of the gruelling Snaefell Mountain Course in hot weather so the team looked forward to Friday’s Senior TT.
Hislop’s main rival was Foggarty, who started at number 4. Steve started at 19. Not only did this give Hizzy more traffic to contend with but it also gave the crowd an anxious wait as the officials calculated the time difference between them. As the race progressed, the two riders smashed records they set the previous year with Hislop taking a narrow advantage into the final lap. In a last-ditch attempt to catch Hislop, Fogarty recorded a record lap time of more than 123 mph on his Yamaha. It was all in vain however as Hislop guided the fly splattered Norton home to an historic win. This was one of Hislop’s greatest achievements and one of the most popular TT wins. Carl Fogarty’s lap record stood for 7 years.
Hislop and Fogarty went on to become two of Britain’s most successful motorcycle racers, winning many races and championships. It was the 1992 Senior TT that saw them battle together for the last time.
Described by some as a flawed sporting genius, success in the world championships never materialised for Hislop. This was possibly because of a self-destructive aspect to his character. The flaw may have led to a number of well-publicised clashes with other riders and teams in the British championships which hindered progress into international series.
Having lost his brother and many friends in motorcycle accidents, he made a point of never going to the funerals of fellow racers, saying:
“Some people might find that a bit callous. I only ever attend family ones and people find it a bit strange that I won’t go to a friend’s funeral, but it’s just my little way of shutting off.”
Steve Hislop died in a helicopter accident in July 2003, near Teviothead, Roxburghshire and was interred in the village of Chesters near his birthplace of Hawick, Scotland. He had two children.
There is a bronze statue in memory of Hizzy in the grounds of Hawick Museum. at Wilton park and another at Onchan Head, Isle of Man, as seen in order in the pics. The last pic is a cairn near Teviothead, the scene of the helicopter crash, it reads……
‘Hizzy’ This cairn was built by a few friends of Steve Hislop, British Superbike Champion, who was tragically killed in a helicopter accident near this site, on July 30th 2003.
Kind permission was granted by His Grace The Duke of Buccleuch.

my opinion on which Bad Batcher (+ Cody and Rex) would have which motorcycle for a modern-ish AU (It's like.. if our world was in the universe of SW but with the rules of SW if that makes sense) I'm working on and just in general to practice characterization hehe
headcanons included ofc!
sadly couldn't add Echo cause uhm... well he still has a scomp link arm 💀
Hunter:
Yamaha MT-09
or
Indian Bobber Scout 60
Not too speedy and not too slow
Great for small road trips
Not much of a racer
Safest rider out of them all
Does have a mischievous side where he wants to race or go faster on curves sometimes
Doesn't mind either rides alone or with his brothers
The responsible one
Crosshair:
Kawasaki Ninja H2
I'm fast asf boiiii
The half reckless half serious one
Like he's reckless but only when he can be safely
The H2 has a very powerful and reactive engine, making it a little difficult to control and requires some skill to do so which I think Cross would find pride in
It's all about ego bois
He loves small roads with a lot of curves
Mostly out with Tech and races with him
The bike looks aggressive and powerful, not like Cross does physically LOLOLOL
Has the most experience in riding bikes out of all of them
Goes zoom whenever he feels like it
His bros call those the "Cross zoomies"
The kill-switch and run master
Tech:
Triumph Street Triple 1200 RS
I forgot that bro is a pilot
That bike can allow him to be as experimental as he wants to
Yes he willingly races Cross
And if he lost... no he didn't
Holds the record for the most heart attacks given to Hunter in the span of 1 minute
He knows he can get himself out of tricky situations faster than the average can so he allows himself to be more reckless than the others
The one who forgets he can go ride out alone or doesn't see the point in it so he has to wait until Cross asks him to go for a ride
Loves to customize his bike, be it just appearance or performance speaking
Wrecker:
Ducati Monster 821
The only one besides Hunter who is allowed to have Omega on his passenger seat
Listens to Hunter when he tells him he shouldn't try to follow Tech or Cross (bless him)
Sometimes he gets the pass to just go wild but only when the roads are empty
Omega likes to ride with Wrecker because He's more exciting than Hunter but not as reckless as the 2 other dumbasses
Whenever they're all out on a ride, Hunter is grateful Wrecker is there
Also Wrecker is the one who manages to convince Hunter into a small race even if it's just the smallest
Rex:
YAMAHA YZF R6
Still fast as fuq bOIIII
Nah man the r6 is the perfect bike for the shenanigans Rex would do with the other bois of the 501st
He just screams r6 idk why like I looked at his pictures and instantly went "r6"
.... ok maybe it's the colour-
Cody:
Yamaha MT-07
Another MT??
Yes, MT's are notorious
Cody doesn't need much so that Yamaha is perfect
Probably switched to an MT-10 to be able to keep up with the others (Rex, Tech, Crosshair and Fives) and to be more comfortable riding in general
The supervisor(tm)
Helps Hunter keep sane
Pretty chill rider, sometimes follows the others in their shenanigans if convinced long enough
I can't add the pictures of the bikes I'm SADDDD
what do you guys think abt this tho?? I'd love feedback bc I can't tell if I'm characterising them wrong or not
and like ik most people dont care abt bikes at all or have only seen the dark side of it which.. yeah that's 100% valid 😭
also yes, as an x reader they will have you on the back 😋
or even maybe ride next to them to hold your hand 👀
#the bad batch#crosshair#tech#hunter#wrecker#tbb#tbb crosshair#tbb tech#tbb hunter#tbb wrecker#cody#commander cody#rex#captain rex#for the bike lovers out there#...oh its just me nvm-

When the hammer came down on a Vincent Black Lightning motorbike at a Bonhams auction in 2018, an Australian collector paid $1.2 million to own the machine – making it the most expensive motorcycle ever sold.
And now an award-winning documentary, narrated by Ewan McGregor, tells the inside story of the motorcycle maverick behind the bikes, designer Philip Vincent. Speed is Expensive: Philip Vincent and the Million Dollar Motorcycle receives its American premiere in Los Angeles, CA, on September 20 – followed by selected theatrical screenings and digital and DVD releases.
Vincent motorcycles set more records during the 1940s and 50s than any other manufacturer. The bikes were years ahead of their time, and Philip Vincent pioneered what is now known as ‘guerrilla marketing’ – sponsoring LA racers, in secret, to compete in illegal back-street duels to promote his motorcycles. Owners include Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds. Yet when Vincent passed away in 1979 he was penniless and reduced to living in public housing –his family fortune and personal life were both exhausted by his obsession with speed. Ewan McGregor’s narration is joined by Vincent fans such as former Tonight Show host Jay Leno, and artist, musician and motorcyclist Paul Simonon of The Clash. The documentary also features the final interview with world champion on two and four wheels, John Surtees, who trained at Vincents.

THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND, HANS RITCHER S.
Hans "Ace" Richter S. was born into a world of high expectations and strict discipline. From his earliest memories, Hans recalls his father in uniform, the gleaming badge and crisp salute a constant reminder of the life he was supposed to live. His father, Jade Brandon S., isn’t just any cop—he is a highest police commander, known for his ruthless pursuit of justice and a near-impeccable record against the city’s worst criminals. In his father’s eyes, there was only one path for his son: to follow in his footsteps.
Growing up, Hans idolized his father. He went to the police station, watched training drills, and listened to war stories about his dad's confrontations with criminals. But as he got older, Hans began to see a different side of his father’s world—a harsh, black-and-white outlook where rules were everything, and anyone who didn’t fit was an enemy. As a teenager, Hans felt the suffocating weight of expectations. He was supposed to be a top student, a model citizen, and one day, a perfect cop. But the pressure only pushed him further from that path.
While his father’s life revolved around order, Hans found himself drawn to the chaos that lurked in the city’s shadows. He’d sneak out to the parts of town his father warned him about, meeting street racers, street artists, and anyone else living life on the edge. He was captivated by their freedom, the way they lived by their own rules and didn’t care what anyone thought. Started skipping classes, sneaking out at night, and spending more time on the city streets. Soon, Hans was picking up skills his father would never approve of: learning how to hotwire cars, dodge security cameras, and talk his way out of trouble with ease.
One night, Hans witnessed a street racer in action—a sleek black motorcycle speeding past with the precision and daring that took his breath away. It was the moment that changed everything. He felt an electric thrill he’d never felt in his orderly home. Soon after, he used his savings to buy a beat-up bike and spent months teaching himself how to ride, pushing himself until he could maneuver through tight alleys and weave between cars like a pro.
His rebellious streak turned into a full-blown lifestyle, and the streets began to know his name: “Hace.”
Though he started small—petty theft, street races, late-night bike escapes—Hans quickly made connections in the city’s criminal network. He learned about the secret bars, underground markets, and hidden spots where deals went down. He became the go-to for quick jobs: getting in and out of places unnoticed, stealing what others couldn’t reach. People liked him for his charm, and his sharp wit got him through scrapes that might have been his undoing.
But Han’s double life has become harder to hide. He’s careful to keep his escapades out of his father’s sight, but the risk is always there. Sometimes, he’ll hear his father’s police radio crackle to life at dinner, mentioning a late-night chase that sounds all too familiar. He’s always on edge, haunted by the fear of what might happen if his father found out who he really is. Yet, a part of him secretly thrills at the danger, wondering how long he can outrun the very man who taught him everything about justice.
Meet the HACE
But Hans’s double life has become harder to hide.
Hans a.k.a Hace is now at a crossroads. He’s torn between proving to himself he can live his own life and wondering if there’s still a way to earn his father’s respect, even if they’re on opposite sides of the law. Deep down, Hans knows he’ll eventually have to choose a side or risk losing everything. But for now, he lives for the thrill of each ride, every close call, and the strange, exhilarating freedom he’s found on the other side of the law.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ...
The questions loom large in his mind:
Will he keep spiraling deeper into the criminal world, or find a way to escape before it's too late?
How can he break free from the shadows cast by his father, and even by himself?

Roadside Garages Kia Coleraine, in County Londonderry, is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with top motorcycle road racer and Ballymoney resident Michael Dunlop for the ninth year in succession. With only 76 days until North West 200 week and 97 days until The Isle of Man TT, we’re certainly hoping that he’ll add further to his existing tally of 25 Isle of Man TT Wins. Just 48 hours ago, Michael was crowned Motorcycle News’ Rider of the Year 2023 beating five other riders to claim the MCN award. Michael secured 50% of all votes the publication received despite the prestige of the other nominees, including: 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Champion Tommy Bridewell; fellow TT star Peter Hickman; World Superbike Champion Alvaro Bautista; MotoGP World Champion Pecco Bagnaia; and Britain’s Moto2 star Jake Dixon. Dunlop won four races at last year’s Isle of Man TT, overtaking 23-time TT race winner John McGuinness as the ‘greatest living TT racer’. Perhaps more importantly, Michael is now just one win short of the all-time record of 26 wins, which is held by his uncle Joey Dunlop. At the TT, Dunlop was the fastest man during practice week and went on to stand on the top step of the podium in the Superbike race, both Supersport events and one of the Supertwin races. In the Supersport class, Dunlop recorded the first-ever +130mph average lap speed aboard his Yamaha R6 – built and prepared by his own team. Roadside Garages Kia, already well known for its involvement in local charity, community, sport and road racing events, is the perfect fit to sponsor Michael as he once again embarks on a season of international road racing. Michael of course will be once again out and about in his stunning new Kia Sportage, provided by the team at Roadside Garages Kia. “It’s brilliant to have the support of Roadside Garages again for 2024, especially the use of my new Sportage, which will come in handy with all the travelling that the new road racing season will entail,” said Michael Dunlop. “The team at Roadside has now supported me for the last 9 years, and I hope to see them once again in the Isle of Man.” Ian Lamont, Roadside Garages Kia’s Dealer Principal, commented; “Motorbike racing is such a big sport in Northern Ireland, and particularly in the North West where we are based, so it’s an honour to sponsor Michael and we look forward to a successful 2024 campaign.” MichaelDunlop, RoadsideGaragesKia

Steve Hislop the Scottish motorcycle racer was born on 11th January 1962.
There is a bronze statue in memory of Hizzy in the grounds of Hawick Museum. at Wilton park and another at Onchan Head, Isle of Man, zas seen in order in the pics.

It's not just about flying high; It's about solving real-world problems. With the ability to transport cargo, especially in hard-to-reach areas like Japan's mountainous regions, Kawasaki is solving logistical nightmares. The drone's companion, a delivery robot, ensures perfect last-mile delivery to the front door. In January 2024, Kawasaki introduces the K-Racer X2. This upgraded version can carry 200 kilograms (approximately 441 pounds), a record feat for a drone in Japan. These capabilities open up new possibilities in cargo transportation, making it ideal for challenging terrain and emergency situations such as natural disasters.

ELITE MOTORSPORTS TO BACK SPENCER HYDE’S TOP FUEL DEBUT IN POMONA
WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (October 6, 2023) - Elite Motorsports, the largest professional team in drag racing, will make its first foray into Top Fuel at the upcoming IN-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. Spencer Hyde will pilot the Elite-sponsored Top Fuel entry in a dragster owned by Todd and Tony Paton. Hyde, an accomplished drag racer from Ontario, Canada, won the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service earlier this year at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Fla. The talented young driver is excited to make his NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series debut after experiencing success behind the wheel of the Paton-owned Top Fuel machine at a couple of match races over the summer. While he’s garnered significant achievements in several drag racing series, this will be the first time for him to compete at an NHRA-sanctioned event. “I’ve raced Pro Modified mostly with the PDRA in the Pro Boost class,” said Hyde. “In February, I completed my Top Fuel License in Gainesville, Fla. with Todd and Tony Paton and the Paton Racing Team. My plan was actually to run the GatorNationals this past March with the Paton Racing Top Fuel Team but my new buddy Courtney Enders worked her magic and helped clinch me a spot in the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod race and that turned out to be a pretty awesome deal for our team!” Indeed the World Series Of Pro Mod was a pretty awesome event for Hyde as he raced his way to victory from the No. 32 qualifying spot. It's clear that he had no trouble making the transition from Pro Mod to Top Fuel. When he was making his licensing passes in Gainesville, Hyde powered the Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster to an impressive pass of 3.80 seconds at 324 mph, the second-quickest pass ever made in the machine. Moreover, during a Top Fuel match race this summer in Empire, N.Y., he reset the track record. Competing behind the wheel of an 11,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster has been a dream for Hyde since he was young. Growing up with family ties to the sport, he knew he wanted to race one day and he started pursuing this path at only 14 years old. “I started in Jr. Dragsters in 2006,” said Hyde. “In Canada, I grew up around snowmobiles and motorcycles. My parents wouldn’t let me race either of those but I had a buddy who raced Jr. Dragsters. I started going to the track with him. One thing led to another and 18 years later we’re Pro Mod and Top Fuel racing.” The stars aligned for Hyde when a casual conversation during the Menards NHRA Nationals in Topeka, Kan. led to his partnership with Elite Motorsports. “I was hanging out with the Elite team earlier this year in Topeka and Bobby Lagana happened to be in the pit,” recalls Hyde. “He recognized me from when I was in Gainesville getting my license. He helped the Paton Racing team when we were there, so we were chatting about it. Richard was kind of listening in and I told him I was looking for funding to go to an event and Pomona was one that they were pushing me to do. That’s when he said, ‘I’ll back you for Pomona.’” Todd Paton, the owner and occasional driver of the Top Fuel entry in which Hyde will compete is confident that Hyde will make the most of his first NHRA event. “We are really looking forward to this,” said Paton. “Spencer did well in his licensing laps. In his first full pass, he did better than my career best in the car, so we are pretty impressed with him. He took to it like a pro. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do behind the wheel at an actual NHRA event. Partnering with Elite will cause a lot of buzz in the pits and I’m looking forward to that too. I think it will catch a lot of people off guard to see their name on a Top Fuel car. I’ve always been one who enjoys the drama that goes along with drag racing so I think it will be entertaining in more ways than one. I’ve known the folks at Elite for a long time and I’m excited to get to work together on this.” The In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip will take place November 9-12 in Pomona, Calif.
