is this anything . sky:cotl au
details (aka my rambling) under the cut
mostly set upon the whole idea that caine came from eden and tries to help everyone gain their wings (albeit doing a terrible job the entire time)
bubble keeps the name bubble!
they r a mantatee :3 suprisingly chaotic for a light creature and sort of has the "eat light and puff out candles" personality that caine should have but doesn't
i contemplated caine being called "the creature" just for shits and giggles (and eventually went with it) since im absolutely certain everyone who ever meets him ever would be terrified for a little bit until they realize hes sentient; he doesn't understand that the name is supposed to be sort of derogatory
caine is the only one with wings because hes the only one who can canonically fly/float!
(and yes his head is supposed to be a dark plant . i like to think im big brain for this)
the reason why his dark plant head is tinted red btw . my thought process was basically "ah yes. red = good bcus eden :]" even though thats convoluted since everyone hates eden but that makes it better in a way. i think
zooble > mismatched worksmith
"bows" given to them by ragatha as an identifier; not like theyd need one though ..
constantly making their own prosthetics due to growing boredom with their previous ones (autism™) and also carved the designs into their mask themself
kinger > reluctant royalty
same old kinger as usual .. when asked what he rules he doesnt particularly remember nor have an answer so hes usually treated with respect out of pity for being old and senile
second tallest behind jax , also the oldest (if you dont count caine i guess? whos sort of. ageless)
ragatha > plush friendfinder
matching bow with jax :3 sibling moment! (yes i like the ragatha + jax sibling dynamic . its amazing to me)
right eye does not glow and actually looks like a hollow hole if you get close enough to her face! also clothing making buddies with zooble :] she taught them how to sew without pricking themself
gangle > wrapped up theatre-goer (i had such a hard time thinking of a name .. and to be honest?? im not solid on this but WHAGEVER.)
shortest. obviously
likes to write plays in her spare time and reads them to zooble while they work
clothes are sectioned and Very flowy, and has a few (cracked and broken) masks she likes to use for play improv (and also uses for herself sometimes if she has a hard time expressing a certain emotion)
jax > towering tease (it sounds stupid but THIS is so fucking funny.i cannot resist this)
tallest OBVIOUSLY. like stupidly tall . has its advantages and disadvantages (like being able to steal things from gangle with no consequences . on the other hand. doorframes)
him being tall and having that be the only thing hes got going for him is absolutely hilarious to me and im leaning into that hard
he has a tail also, but its small and not visible from the chart
pomni > jittery jester (i had to look up "other words for anxious" for this.my intelligence is showing)
pretty much the only one i referenced real in game clothing for, which sort of fits! protag moment
this was all i really had, since other established things like their personalities and relationships arent really changed much. but this was fun to think about :3 input is appreciated !

You have any plans for Surtr? I saw on one of your post that he and Ymir may be doomed Yaoi :D
(And if you do does he have any interaction with Loki since Ragnarok stuff 😞 if so what is their dynamic like?)
I completely forgot about that post and now it’s embarrassing remembering it again but yes!! I have plans for Surtr!!
Currently he is quite underdeveloped but I do have the grounds of which I’m developing right now.
For one, his only interaction with Loki is minimal and I’m still developing them but I imagine it’s a mutual understanding to protect and avenge their loved ones. Both alive and dead.
Surtr and Ymir did indeed have a relationship, as the first two sentient beings ever, I think Surtr was scared of Ymir but eventually warmed up and the heat coming off Surtr created the first Jotuns, their children of sorts.
Ymir and Surtr had lots of fun together just kinda raising the Jotuns and putting them into either Muspelheim or Nifelheim. Ymir was kind of the chill, carefree and friendly giant to Surtr’s curiousty and sort of dopey infatuation. Growing into a deeply loving and emotional attachment/admiration with Ymir because he’s really all he has in terms of equality.
When Ymir dies, Surtr is HEARTBROKEN and retreats back into Muspelheim, sitting in a volcano and absolutely distraught at the loss of Ymir. With his misery turning into large amounts of lava and fire spewing out, later repurposing his lava lair into a worksmith where he can create his sword so he can take revenge on Odin and bash his skull in for killing Ymir, also there may or may have not been a war between the sons of Muspell and the Aesir like really really early into the story but I’m still developing that so shrug.

It was amusing to have a travelling companion, riding through such bleak lands. For all his brash and vainglorious ways, Olgierd von Everec was the generous benefactor of the rare von Rogh's and swore to bring her the witcher's head. A certain gut feeling made the sun-eyed believe that the mercenary meant it. The reasons were secondary. "Very well. The road home is rather long and I would also prefer to spent it in comfort." To put it bluntly, Orianna suspected the reason why the charming ataman made his promise and loathed to confess it. Olgierd was like a mirror of herself in her youth; he craved chaos and danced through the merriment of mayhem with grace. A certain part of Orianna missed those days where she could just...forget herself. Like a recovered addict longs for a scent of fisstech.
"I know where we can get a fresh, healthy body. If you are courageous enough to conduct the ritual in Novigrad... practically under king Radovid's nose?" the cold, noble demeanor slipped from the cultured vampiress' face for a glimpse. The smile she gave Olgierd was equally bright and savage...
***
They rode through the capital, following the route seemingly drawn by a madman. One would think that after a long, exasperating wait at the gates, aided by the pouring rain, which could not was away the rancid scent of many fires and the odour of burning flesh, the hedonistic vampiress would stop dead at the first establishment, clean and quite enough to accommodate them and do not kill the travellers for their horses. Yet they went to the southern part of the city, with its briny canals and worksmiths shops. Orianna halted her steed at the three-store house with the crimson curtains adorning the upper floor, smelled the air, pursed her lips and led the horse away. The same thing happened at the 5 similar houses in the richest and the poorest quarters alike. At last they arrived at the building, nor too luxurious, nor too meagre, similarly decorated with the blood-red curtains on all it's two floors. The laughter and squeals shamelessly floated through the open windows, and dissolved into the night air. Several dim lamps spilled blood-like light upon the cobblestones and wild roses hanged from the balconies in abundance. It was not necessary to name what kind of a house it was, especially since they saw all almost all 12 novigradian by now, led on the strange goose-chase.
"Something never changes...she could never deny a bit of garish," the low mutter was disapproving, once one would think she would be happy the end of their quest was reached. The horses clearly were. "Olgierd, before we enter I must ask you not to leave my side. Unless I explicitly order...ask you to." The horses were given to the groom, who smoothly appeared from the shadows. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be a young and rather pretty girl. Instead of being wary, as any lass would be with the full night creeping in, that one bowed to Orianna and grinned at Olgierd with a brazen cheer. That strange creature might be the only carefree soul they met in the whole Novigrad, the whole city eaten alive by truncated fear and suspense. "No matter what - let's say - flowers might tempt you. Especially if some will seem extremely delightful." The thug at the door was less accommodating, and eyed the charming ataman's weapons with a wary scowl. Until the sun-eyed produced a hairpin, that glittered gold in the firelight, and pinched her finger enough to draw blood. Unusually clumsy. The thug eyed the ornament greedily and agreed to take it to the Madame a bit too hastily. Yet one more miracle followed and the man returned, almost running, and breaking his spine in two, ushered "m'lady and m'lord" in with all the respectful flattery and fear he could master. They were left alone in a an empty, richly furnished chamber, with the same abundance of red, velvet and some strong herbs that made once head's spin. One corner contained the bed, but instead of being a place of rest and involuntary reminded of a ravenous mouth. Orianna lowered herself into a cushioned chair with a sigh. The chair was much more clean than their own cloth, worn out by the roads, yet it didn't save the piece of furniture from a contemptuous, dark glance from the sun-eyed.
Tumblr media
"Did not you mention that your body parts can't grow anew, but rather it is necessary to bring...mmm...an original back? Is it different with the eyes?" such a tempting topic made the majority of spite evaporate from Orianna's voice. Hopefully, her own eyes did not betray the enthusiasm she truly felt. Magic was foreign to vampires, but such possibility as contacting the other world...the mere hope paid up with vengeance.

Sprout * Waning Hermitage - Prologue
Season: Winter
Tumblr media
Shu: Ha... Looks like I've prepared most everything I need to go back home.
(Cloth for handicrafts, decorative trinkets...Ah, there's also the sketch blueprint I made over here.)
Hm~Now that I look at it, there's quite a lot of luggage.
(No, even if I can buy the cloths in Japan as well, there is a higher variety here. Even if it'll weight down the luggage, it'd be worth the purchase.)
Guess it's time to go back to the studio--Hm? Oya, isn't this store the antiques shop that was always closed?
(The shop's appearance matches my taste...but since it was always closed, I thought it had shut down for sure.)
Ha, this opportunity is quite hard to come by. I might as well go check it out.
Shu: Excuse me.
(Oh, the quality of the goods is fantastic...! To be honest, I didn't even expect it to be this good...!)
(The interior decoration, the trinkets, they even have paintings... and every one of them is a work of art!)
(Ah, and this clock. What a detailed sculpture... Absolutely wonderful.)
(Although I can't quite tell which era this was made in, it was definitely handicrafted by one of the finest worksmiths and treasured greatly in its time.)
(And this jewlery box used so many gems as decoration... the colors are faded, looks like it's real--as the color of natural gems fade over time if it's not stored well.)
... (looking intently.)
Shu: ?! Woah!?
Sorry, being suddenly approached caught me off guard. I'm a bit shocked is all...
Are you the shopkeep? I notified you when I knocked, but since you gave no response I just came in.
Ah, no. The goods here are perfect. I'm utterly captivated. I saw quite a few that caught my eye, and I am definitely going to purchase some--
(Ack...this top-tier product has a "top-tier" price tag as well... I'm not going to be able to afford this...)
Oya, this procelain doll on the shelf...! Her outfit is rather old and dusty, but she is quite the beauty!
(Pure porcelain skin, the wonderfully detailed features... even her body is of the golden ratio, and there isn't a dash of impurity in her glassy eyes...! Is this the work of a master doll maker?)
(She doesn't have a logo on her, though. It's impossible to tell who made her. They left a beauty like her all alone in this dusty old shop--how cruel.)
Shu: Um?! Sh-shopkeep! Is that the price of the doll? Are you sure you haven't made a mistake?
There's no mistake...huh? There is a reason it's that price?
I've taken a good look at it, and there's no imperfections at all. You could even call it brand new. I don't think you should keep her all forgotten like this.
(Sweet, I can easily afford this. Umu, it'd be a shame if I let her wither and age in this old shop. I'll take her.)
(This is nice. Kagehira must be lonely after not being able to talk to Mademoiselle for a while. This'll be a perfect gift for him.)
It has been a meaningful trip, I'll visit this shop again for sure.
Oya, what did you say? "Don't be too good to the doll?" I can't understand that... if she's with me, shouldn't I spoil her?
"She (the doll) will capture you if you do." ...huh? What?

Dokra (also spelt Dhokra) is non–ferrous metal casting method using the lost-wax casting technique that developed and has been in use in India for over 4,000 years. The Dhokra Damar tribe originating from Eastern India are the creators and traditional worksmiths of this technique. There are two main types of lost wax casting: solid casting and hollow casting. Solid casting is predominant in the South India and hollow casting is more common in Central and Eastern India. Solid casting does not use a clay core but instead a solid piece of wax to create the mould. hollow casting is the more traditional method and uses the clay core.
The first task in the Dokra casting process consists of developing a clay core which is roughly the shape of the final cast image. Next, the clay core is covered by a layer of wax composed of pure beeswax, resin from the tree Damara orientalis, and nut oil. The wax is then shaped and carved in all its finer details of design and decorations. It is then covered with layers of clay, which takes the negative form of the wax on the inside, thus becoming a mould for the metal that will be poured inside it. Drain ducts are left for the wax, which melts away when the clay is cooked. The wax is then replaced by the molten metal, often using brass scrap as basic raw material. The liquid metal poured in hardens between the core and the inner surface of the mould. The metal fills the mould and takes the same shape as the wax. The outer layer of clay is then chipped off and the metal icon is polished and finished as desired.

Not too long ago I drew Monty with her ex - she was mentioned in a session but their story wasn't addressed. It's considered canon to me that Monty has now told Aubrey the full story during the course of their date (❤!!!) so we can finally uncover the backstory of Monty's two childhood best friends, Gentry Yang O'Malley and Rascal O'Malley -
Following a pretty bad divorce, Gentry's mother moved them in with Gentry's grandpa, the current Sheriff of Runswick, to get back on their feet. They settled down and eventually opened up a flower shop, Thorns'n Ivy, filling a niche that ended up being pretty well received in this little town. Monty took to Gentry almost immediately, as she was already close to her Pops through her Pa, his deputy. Monty remembers Gentry being "sweet and spicy," charismatic and loyal, ornery as hell, flirty and hot-tempered straddling that line between a floral loving druid and a fire harboring tiefling, and she kinda loved her for it.
Only a few years later, if that, Rascal moved to Runswick with his two dads as they opened a leatherwork shop, Tan Your Hide. Monty met Rascal not just because they were now school mates but because her aunt Thes, a blacksmith, really took to his dads. Despite his massive size (as an adult he is taller than Monty and quite bulky, being a minotaur worksmith), he is extremely gentle and kind, with a jovial and optimistic view of the world. It was usually the case that the more calm and level headed Rascal was the one reining in his girls. Some of the clothes Monty still wears to this day were made by Rascal, including her hat.
Monty absolutely adored both of them, but as one might expect, she harbored a huge crush on Gentry and the two had a flirty relationship from their "high school" years to well into their adulthood - it wasn't necessarily a secret between them, just something they never seriously acted on. This would ultimately culminate in what Monty considers her biggest embarrassment. Monty held a party the weekend she made deputy, and wouldn't you know it, she woke up with a killer hangover, her best friend next to her, and two matching wedding rings. She still to this day has no memory of this, and Gentry isn't much help either.
The marriage only lasted for about two months. It was certainly nice for a little while, with this being the push to finally do something about their relationship. But the reality that they were now committed and they hadn't even dated yet - and at a relatively young age as this would have been when Monty was the dragonborn equivalent of 19 or 20 - it was all a bit too much for two "unkept" gals, and it certainly strained the marriage and almost their friendship. On top of this, Monty was desperate to keep it from her parents as she was still too embarrassed to tell them.
(She would be even more embarrassed to learn they knew the whole time.)
Eventually the two decided whatever this potential relationship was wasn't worth straining their friendship and they divorced. The two did swap rings as gifts to the other, as sort of a joke, sort of a promise. It is likely this was also done as a balm of sorts for Gentry, considering her parents' divorce. Monty now uses this ring for her spell-slot restoring infusion.
Similar to Monty and Gentry, Gentry and Rascal also had a flirty relationship that they never seriously addressed. This never turned into a love triangle between them, especially considering Monty's courtship style is very hands off - if a gal isn't hers, she feels no right to jealousy - and she was just as likely to make jokes about the two hooking up. Rascal was genuinely happy for them when they tried to make the marriage work, and was likewise almost overly concerned that Monty seemingly "threw away her chance" with Gentry and only stopped feeling bad when Monty insisted she was fine with the divorce - it wasn't a real proper thing anyway, this stupid thing she did and everyone should just forget about it.
Eventually, after the marriage was behind them, Gentry and Rascal left Runswick. One of Rascal's fathers was away at the war but following his discharge due to an injury, Rascal moved away to take care of him and support his dads. This left Gentry and Monty alone for a bit, but following Shepherd's passing, Gentry and her Mom move out of the small town to upscale their shop thanks to the inheritance they received. Mostly by coincidence, the two end up in still close proximity to each other and do eventually begin to date, and marry. Monty gladly attends their wedding, and comes home from that weekend to find a little blue kobold on her mom's hip.
Monty kept in touch with them up until her banishment where, in her shame, she dropped communications with them as she still considered them part of her clan. The only communications she ever responded to was when Gentry claimed she would "kill her if she died in the Mourning somehow." She is very, very slowly reaching out to them again, and has recently learned they intend to make her their kid's Godmother, should they have any (If they haven't already - I reserve the right to retcon this should I need to ;p)
Fun Facts bc this post isn’t long enough eh
Monty's nickname for Gentry is "Rosé" and Rascal's is "Beefcake." It was Gentry who gave Monty her small affinity for roses
Gentry's mother's name is Sandra, and she was good friends with Belle and Aunt Arizona; Rascal's Pa's are Mark (a lion tabaxi) & Derek (a water buffalo minotaur). yea when i need to name an NPC on the fly i just throw my hand into my bag titled “grey’s names & country music”
The character concepts for all three of them were created because of this post
Originally Gentry's personality was going to be much more similar to Aubrey's in that "defrosting ice queen" way, but that doesn't reflect the story I wanted Montbrey to be and it was important to me that Monty was never hung up on her ex (dnd is therapy etc etc). Although now that Aubrey is opening up more, some of their similarities are starting to shine through. Wayfinder though does remind Monty of Rascal and is partly why she feels close to him.
Monty never told Tequila about Gentry or Rascal specifically because not only was the whole thing behind them at this point, but it was also something that greatly embarrassed her. Dragonborn do not like to discuss things that hurt their ego, making it a "well you never asked" topic for her
not that it matters, but Gentry is pan and Rascal is bi!

Queer and Here: TBC.....
All my life i felt i was different. I grew up super religious and conservative. Ill try to kee this short and ill write the full version when i get to a full keyboard. I never knew where i fit in. I never was straight, but gay never fit me either. Bisexual could work but as a worksmith, bi means 2 and its so much more than that....so after sweeping my feelings under the rug, 2016 i decided to do some digging. I ran across the label “pansexual” and i was completely frozen. I never wanted a label or limit on my love.....ill finish this later. Happy pride month!

The necessary mindset for small businesses
Tumblr media
The necessary mindset for small businesses. After Covid-19 closures, retail and hospitality have come back with a vengeance. Here’s how they did it. Covid-19 pushed small businesses far out of their comfort zones. Retail and hospitality businesses were hit especially hard, with rolling closures forcing owners into a total rethink of how they were operating.
But hardship gave way to innovation. Faced with an uncertain future, retail and hospitality’s resilience shone through: fine dining venues became Instagram cake delivery services and event caterers launched top-shelf food trucks. For many, the pandemic was a chance to step back, reassess, and simplify their dreams. For some it was regretfully having to put up the shutters and for others it was a case of keep your head below the parapet and hope for the best.
As we can begin to enjoy being out of lockdown, there’s a lot we can learn from these change makers.
Now might be the perfect time to try something new
Michael Bascetta saw Covid’s impact on hospitality first-hand. As well as owning several food and drink venues, he’s the CEO of Worksmith, a community hub and co-working space designed specifically for hospitality. His clients come from every corner of the industry, from chefs to those managing their PR and graphic design.
But while Bascetta has seen some businesses close, he says many operators have sped up their ambition over the past 12 months – and he’s not surprised.
“Forced into a corner, creative people really flourish,” he says. Let go from their jobs, he says young creatives have said, “why not now?” to the lofty business goals they had thought were years away. Worksmith has more people connecting and working in its spaces than it did before the pandemic hit.
Customer expectations also shifted, to flexible lifestyles that included picking up meals from community groups, ordering hand sanitiser from gin distilleries and embracing dessert for breakfast. For food and beverage businesses, this meant a rapid shift to an agile new way of working.
“It’s been really nice to see that, while we’re all going through a difficult time, younger people are flourishing,” Bascetta says. “They’re getting a nudge towards that thing they’ve always wanted to do.”
Some are using their passion and experience to create new, specialised businesses. Worksmith is host to Holy Sugar, a single operator making incredible dessert boxes, and Tarts Anon, a croissant chef now taking filled pastry cases to the streets, among many others.
The right business tools are more important than ever
A common theme in 2020 was a massive shift to digital. It wasn’t just that many of us were forced to work from home; with stores, restaurants and bars closing, we had no choice but to move our purchasing habits online.
A prime example of immense update was at Stripe, which offers payment options to suit every business, with minimal entry requirements. More importantly it acts both as a merchant account and payment provider, thereby immediately negating exorbitant addition fees that the banks have nicely created for themselves. Sole traders are invited, avoiding the need for registering a company. We watched thousands take their bricks-and-mortar operations online, linking everything from simple online payment processing to cloud-based accounting and inventory management. Internet bank accounts like Tide have likewise thrived.
Centralising everything will give operators more time to focus on their core businesses, whether that’s running an incredible new pasta shop or turning their stage-building skills into office furniture. We recommends taking a careful look at each tool to make sure it’s the right fit. Think about front of house, back of house, financial performance, stock control. Analyse how well each element is working.
Centralising operations will be key for small businesses in 2021. Tools such as Xero, SKU IQ pull everything together so it’s all synced, checked and ready for the next day of hustling. One solution offers you the ability to email all you customers once or twice a month, with exactly the ever-changing things they are most likely to buy next.  SwiftERM is a SaaS plugin, which take just a couple of minutes to install, which they will do for free to, if you don’t know how.
Personalisation has been the buzz word in ecommerce for the last 3 years, and yet small businesses sadly lack way behind, “mainly due to fear of the unknown” said Dan Fuller owner of Fin & Fur Petfoods, who now enjoys 16.82% additional turnover pa from a solution that requires zero human input whatsoever, including zero training. “That retailers expect their own developer to know all the solutions is scary, we knew nothing of SwiftERM and neither did our developer, but look at us now” said Fuller. “At just £100 per month for £3500 turnover (50% GP) is a staggering ROI of 1650%.”
“SwiftERM offer a 30 day free trial, and no lock-in notice requirement, so retailers can check the viability for themselves without risk. Being partnered by Microsoft and Adobe offered additional reassurance before we started”, he said.
The way businesses had been operating isn’t going to work any more, people have started to realise these efficiencies give back time to the new things they could be doing. Going into doing takeaway menus during lockdown, tools like Stripe and SwiftERM have made it so easy.
There’s a community ready to support you
Covid-19 has been a time of acute vulnerability. Businesses have closed, sometimes for good. In retail and hospitality, Fuller says operators have been open about their challenges in ways they never have before – and that’s created a whole new world of collaboration and friendship.
“Ten years ago, people didn’t want to tell each other what was actually happening in their businesses,” he says. “The pandemic has made people work together and leverage each other, rather than working in silos. People are more open to talking about what’s actually happening and looking to each other for support.”
We have seen all sorts of collaborations, from simple social media takeovers to pop-up restaurants, and from partnering on new products to full-blown venues with two different businesses coming together.
Whenever people go through a shared experience, there’s more togetherness, rather than competing,  the next six months is going to be all about people. Without people, the retail industry is nothing.
