It looks a bit like TRX, which is an awesomely hard workout and really doesn’t need much apart from two bungee cords and a bit of floor space - you use your own body weight, and the position of your feet/angle of your body makes it easier or harder, rather than having to adjust physical weights.
(I’m not a shill for TRX, lol, I just like it as a system and their website seemed the most logical place to link. It’s something I’d recommend doing at the gym rather than buying your own tbh, because a trainer would be helpful to advise you on body positioning.)

From Treadmills To Free Weights: What You Can Expect At Gym Auctions
Gym equipment auctions offer an excellent opportunity to purchase high-quality fitness gear at a fraction of the retail price. Whether you're a gym owner, personal trainer, or fitness enthusiast setting up a home gym, gym auctions provide access to a wide range of items. From treadmills and ellipticals to free weights and specialty machines, here’s what you can expect to find at a gym equipment auction.
Cardio Machines
Cardio equipment is often the star of gym auctions, and you can typically find a variety of machines designed for cardiovascular workouts, including:
Treadmills: One of the most popular items at auctions, treadmills can range from commercial-grade models designed for heavy usage to simpler home versions. Look for features such as adjustable incline, heart rate monitors, and preset programs.
Ellipticals: These low-impact cardio machines are also common. Ellipticals vary in size and functionality, so you can find machines with multiple resistance levels, incline options, and advanced consoles for tracking workouts.
Stationary Bikes: From upright bikes to recumbent models, auctions typically feature both types. Some models offer integrated tech like virtual cycling experiences, while others are more basic.
Rowing Machines: Rowers provide a full-body workout, and gym auctions often feature both air and water-resistance models. Test them for smooth, quiet operation and inspect any digital monitors.
Strength Training Equipment
Strength training equipment is another major category found at gym auctions. These pieces are essential for building muscle and improving overall fitness:
Free Weights: Dumbbells, barbells, and weight plates are highly sought after at auctions due to their versatility. You can expect to find various sets of free weights in different weight ranges, along with weight storage racks.
Weight Benches: Adjustable and flat benches are key components for any strength training setup. Ensure that the benches are stable and the upholstery is in good condition, as they endure heavy use.
Power Racks and Squat Racks: These are essential for serious weight training and are commonly found at gym auctions. Be sure to inspect racks for stability and structural integrity, especially around welds and bolts.
Selectorized Weight Machines: Machines like lat pulldowns, chest presses, and leg presses that use stacks of weights for resistance are frequently available. Test the pulleys and cables to ensure smooth movement without sticking or fraying.
Functional Fitness Equipment
Many gym auctions also feature equipment for functional fitness and bodyweight exercises. Expect to see:
Kettlebells: Like free weights, kettlebells come in various weights and sizes. They are excellent for dynamic strength training and full-body workouts.
Medicine Balls: These are commonly used in functional fitness and can be found in various weights and textures.
Resistance Bands: While relatively inexpensive, resistance bands are often sold in bulk at gym auctions, providing a cost-effective way to stock up on these versatile tools.
Specialty Equipment
In addition to standard fitness equipment, gym auctions may feature more specialized items:
Spin Bikes: Often used in group classes, spin bikes are durable, high-intensity cardio machines that differ from standard stationary bikes.
Plyometric Boxes: These boxes are essential for jump training and functional workouts, often used in cross-training or circuit training.
TRX Systems: Suspension trainers like TRX systems are commonly used for bodyweight exercises and can add versatility to any gym setup.
Conclusion
Gym auctions provide a wide range of equipment, from cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals to strength training essentials like free weights and power racks. You’ll also find functional fitness gear and specialty equipment, making these auctions a valuable resource for anyone looking to build or expand their fitness setup. With careful inspection and strategic bidding, gym auctions offer the chance to acquire high-quality, durable gym equipment at a fraction of its retail cost.

Achieving a comprehensive full-body workout in your home gym in Sri Lanka doesn't necessarily require an extensive array of equipment. By strategically selecting versatile and effective tools, you can target multiple muscle groups while maximizing efficiency and results. Here's a guide to the most effective fitness equipment such as a weight lifting bench that can help you achieve a well-rounded workout regimen with the best fitness equipment in Sri Lanka.
1. Adjustable Dumbbells
Adjustable dumbbells are a staple in any well-equipped home gym. They offer versatility by allowing you to easily adjust the weight, making them suitable for various exercises targeting different muscle groups. Whether performing classic dumbbell exercises like bicep curls and shoulder presses or incorporating them into compound movements like lunges and squats, adjustable dumbbells provide an effective way to build strength and muscle tone across the entire body.
2. Kettlebells
Kettlebells are renowned for their ability to facilitate dynamic movements that engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Exercises such as kettlebell swings, Turkish get-ups, and goblet squats not only build strength but also improve cardiovascular fitness and enhance coordination. The unique shape and grip of kettlebells allow for a wide range of motions that target both large and stabilizing muscles, making them a valuable addition to any full-body workout routine.
3. Resistance Bands
Resistance bands are incredibly versatile and portable, making them an excellent choice for strength training on the go or at home. Available in various resistance levels, they allow you to adjust the intensity of your workouts easily. Resistance bands can be used to target muscles throughout the body, from performing bicep curls and chest presses to engaging in lower body exercises like squats and leg lifts. They also facilitate stretching and mobility exercises, making them a valuable tool for both strength training and flexibility.
4. Rowing Machines
For a comprehensive cardiovascular workout that also engages multiple muscle groups, consider incorporating a rowing machine into your routine. Rowing machines provide a full-body workout by targeting muscles in the legs, core, back, and arms. They offer a low-impact yet effective way to improve cardiovascular fitness, enhance endurance, and build strength. Rowing also promotes proper posture and coordination, making it an ideal choice for those looking to achieve a balanced and efficient workout session.
5. Battle Ropes
Battle ropes are a versatile piece of equipment that can add intensity and variety to your full-body workouts. By performing waves, slams, and other dynamic movements with battle ropes, you can engage muscles throughout your body while also improving cardiovascular endurance and enhancing core stability. The rhythmic nature of battle rope exercises promotes coordination and agility, making them suitable for individuals of all fitness levels seeking a challenging and effective workout.
6. Suspension Trainer (e.g., TRX)
Suspension trainers, such as the popular TRX system, utilize your body weight to perform a wide range of exercises that target strength, balance, and flexibility. By adjusting the angle and position of your body relative to the suspension straps, you can increase or decrease the intensity of each exercise. Suspension trainers are particularly effective for developing core strength, improving muscular endurance, and enhancing overall stability. They are compact and portable, making them ideal for home workouts or for use in a variety of outdoor settings.
7. Stationary Bike
A stationary bike provides a low-impact cardiovascular workout that primarily targets the lower body muscles, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes. It offers an effective way to improve cardiovascular health, burn calories, and enhance muscular endurance without putting undue stress on the joints. Many stationary bikes come equipped with adjustable resistance settings and built-in workout programs, allowing you to customize your workout intensity and duration according to your fitness goals.
8. Jump Rope
Jump ropes are a simple yet effective tool for incorporating cardiovascular exercise into your full-body workout routine. Jumping rope engages muscles throughout the body, particularly in the legs and core, while also improving coordination, agility, and endurance. Whether performing basic jumps, double-under, or more advanced footwork patterns, jumping rope offers a versatile and challenging workout that can be adjusted to suit various fitness levels and goals.
9. Pull-Up Bar
A pull-up bar is essential for targeting upper body muscles, including the back, shoulders, and arms. Pull-ups and chin-ups are effective compound exercises that engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously, helping to build upper body strength and muscular endurance. Additionally, a pull-up bar can be used for performing hanging leg raises, which target the core muscles, further enhancing the effectiveness of your full-body workout routine.
10. Medicine Ball
Medicine balls are weighted balls that can be used to add resistance to a wide range of exercises, including throws, squats, lunges, and abdominal twists. By incorporating medicine ball exercises into your workout routine, you can improve strength, power, and coordination across multiple muscle groups. Medicine balls come in various weights and sizes, allowing you to progressively increase the intensity of your workouts as your strength and fitness levels improve.
Incorporating these effective fitness equipment options into your full-body workout routine can help you achieve comprehensive strength, endurance, and flexibility gains. Six underrated exercises that might revolutionise your workouts
Certainly! Here are six underrated exercises that can add variety and effectiveness to your workouts: 1.Turkish Get-Up: This full-body exercise engages multiple muscle groups and improves stability and coordination. It involves getting up from a lying position while holding a kettlebell or dumbbell overhead. The Turkish Get-Up targets the core, shoulders, hips, and glutes. 2.Farmer's Walk: This exercise is simple yet highly effective. Grab a pair of heavy dumbbells or kettlebells and walk for a designated distance or time. Farmer's Walks improve grip strength, core stability, and overall body strength. 3.Bulgarian Split Squat: This variation of the traditional squat targets the quads, glutes, and hamstrings, while also challenging balance and stability. Stand with one foot elevated behind you on a bench or step, and perform a squat motion with the front leg. 4.Suspension Trainer Rows: Using suspension trainers like TRX or gymnastic rings, perform rows by pulling your body up while keeping your feet on the ground. This exercise targets the back muscles, including the lats and rhomboids, as well as the biceps. 5.Battle Ropes: Battle ropes are thick, heavy ropes that can be anchored to a stable point. By performing various waves, slams, or rotational movements with the ropes, you engage your upper body, core, and cardiovascular system. Battle ropes provide a high-intensity, full-body workout. 6.Glute Bridge with Hip Abduction: The glute bridge primarily targets the glutes, but by adding a hip abduction component, you engage the outer hip muscles, such as the gluteus medius. Lie on your back, lift your hips off the ground into a bridge position, and then move your legs apart and back together while maintaining the bridge. Incorporating these exercises into your routine can help improve strength, stability, and overall fitness. Remember to consult a fitness professional before starting any new exercise program to ensure proper form and technique. 7.Nordic Hamstring Curl: This exercise targets the hamstrings, which are often neglected in traditional leg workouts. Kneel down on a soft surface with a partner holding your ankles, and slowly lower your body forward, using your hamstrings to control the movement. The Nordic hamstring curl is excellent for strengthening the posterior chain and reducing the risk of hamstring injuries. 8.Pallof Press: The Pallof press is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the core and improving stability. Attach a resistance band to a stationary object and stand sideways to the anchor point. Grab the band with both hands at chest height and extend your arms forward, resisting the pull of the band. This exercise engages the deep core muscles, obliques, and lower back. 9.Lateral Step-Ups: While step-ups are a common exercise, performing them laterally adds a new challenge. Stand alongside a step or bench and step up laterally with one foot, then bring the other foot up to meet it. This exercise targets the glutes, quadriceps, and outer thighs, helping to improve hip stability and balance. 10.Wall Slides: This exercise is great for correcting poor posture and strengthening the muscles of the upper back and shoulders. Stand with your back against a wall, feet slightly away from the wall, and slide your arms up and down while maintaining contact with the wall. Wall slides help activate the often neglected lower traps and promote better shoulder alignment. 11.Bear Crawls: Mimicking the movement of a bear, this exercise is a fantastic way to improve core strength, coordination, and overall body control. Start in a tabletop position with your hands and knees on the ground. Lift your knees slightly off the ground and move forward by stepping with opposite limbs. Bear crawls engage the core, shoulders, and hip muscles. 12.Sled Push/Pull: If you have access to a sled, pushing or pulling it can provide a challenging full-body workout. Load the sled with weight plates and push it forward or pull it backward using a harness or straps. This exercise targets the legs, glutes, core, and upper body muscles, providing a great cardiovascular and strength training stimulus. Incorporating these underrated exercises into your routine can bring a fresh perspective to your workouts and help you achieve new levels of strength, stability, and overall fitness. Remember to start with appropriate weights and progress gradually, and always prioritize proper form and technique. Read the full article
