i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

FilmCooper should actually stop making videos on serious topics. He has a lot of shit takes on sensitive matters. There's this intense "guy who paints his nails to seem progressive" energy. I don't think he is a horrible person per se, but he is not as nuanced as he tries to come off as. Saying Justin Baldoni should have just "sucked it up" because he asked an important question to keep himself safe from injuries? Man, you should sit this one out. And the comments about Chappell Roan releasing statements telling people to stop stalking her as "statements after statements" "like 30 posts" is very weird from someone who bends over backwards to defend women because he is the only doing "some research" and looking at stuff from a different angle. Honestly, if being wrong multiple times in the expanse of one video was a tournament, his video would be the top contender.

i actually do not care about anything they said about agatha in interviews. i care about what was actually on screen. when are show creators going to start putting the actual story on my screen again. and if what was on the screen *was* the story then why wont they shut up about the rest of it and leave it to the viewers imagination. if they want to further explore things in another spin off then go *do* that! but stop talking about all of it. and i hate how obsessed fandom is w word of god. like i get its interesting to know what the creator "actually" meant to imply when its not explored on screen but at some point we gotta let go of what the "actual" intention was and let the show just exist as it is.

What would you ask God, if you could ask God anything you want?
An interview with God per say.
If you could get God to sit with you for 30 minutes a day for 3 days. Roughly 10 questions. Think about that. 10 questions for God.
So, I did.
I schedule my interview, because God is busy, and even though God is everywhere at all times ( maybe that’s a good question right there ), God’s schedule is packed so I have to be timely. After all, can’t keep God waiting.
And so, we meet. And I am just a bit surprised that God is a woman. And small. Not bigger than life like I expected.
Day 1
“Hello” I say. “It’s so nice to meet you, although it feels like I’ve known you forever. May I call you......God? Or Goddess?”
“You have always known me,” she said. “There were times you didn’t quite believe, or trust in me, but you knew me always. Just call me God. I like that name.”
A little taken back, I settled into my seat, and started to ask the first question.
But she said “Don’t start with that question, everybody wants to know if death is predetermined, and yes it is but it involves free will in some cases too, kind of confusing.“
“Okay, I’ll go with my second question”, I say “Is the devil real?”
She shrugs “Yes. But that’s where the free will angle comes in. The devil can only affect you if you let him. You can say no to the devil. Or, you can let him lure you in. Dangle the golden carrot in front of you. I can assure you the devils power lies in the person them self. He can only entice. He can not force. But some are weak, and are easily shuffled and dealt.”
“The key is you can’t judge things by what they were. The devil was an angel and saints were sinners. The meanest dog was a puppy once, and we all know how the ugly ducking turned out. Everything changes……” she added.
“So, we are evil?” I ask.
“No, lord no.” She laughs. “ The devil is a con artist. He promises what he can not deliver. Those who see this will never fall for his false offers. When the devil was an angel, he was at my service. But he wanted more. More of the power. But what he didn’t understand was the power was already in him. Because I am in him. Even now. Even now. The key is believing.”
“Then, my third question would be, and because I want to end today with a bang, what is the meaning of life? If it is all predetermined, then why go thru it? Why not just assign a slot? Yes or no? Heaven or..... Hell?”
“Well” she shrugged “If I let that happen, what would be the reward? After all, heaven is a reward right? If the very coincidence of existing could warrant a judgement, where is the reward for that? People are predisposed, that is true. But, the reward of Heaven for a life well lived, or the damnation of Hell for a life wasted, should feel like it’s in control of the liver. My children should choose me, even if I have already chosen them. The want to should outweigh the already mapped out plan I have.”
And with that answer, I asked her if we could continue tomorrow. Same time.
She said “yes. I have nothing but time.”
And so we will be back.
