I started working on this over a year ago but abandoned it when coloring the face turned out to be too difficult. Coming back to it and realizing I understand colors and values much better now has been really rewarding, and I had a lot of fun finishing it!

OnlyOneOf Nine’s “beyOnd” (be #6) Teaser

We are reaching the final solo! I am excited to see how they wrap up this solo series and how it ties into what they do next. Nine’s solo is sounding really interesting so far. It’s the most in line sound wise with their music as a whole, and I feel like that says something about how much influence Nine has on their musical style in general. I’m sure that there will be some interesting musical surprises that weren’t teased, and his voice already sounds amazing here, so I can’t wait to see what he brings us.

Observations so far... The quality of this is really dreamlike, sort of like there’s a fantasy that they are in, something that seems too good to be true almost. I’m definitely getting a lot of the warmth of a new crush, daydreaming and wondering what it will be like from the combination of the images and the sound. Knowing what we know from Mill’s solo, I think that Nine’s is starting in a much softer, less scared place. I’m really curious what musical turn we’ll get to bring us to the ending of “beat” and how it will change the overall flavor of this.

General feelings I’m getting: dreamlike, warmth, security. This doesn’t feel fast or rushed, like Nine is taking his time with this new experience, and that he wants to create an atmosphere of safety and happiness. But right at the end of the teaser, there’s definitely a little shimmer of tension in the music, just a tiny touch of intentional discordance.

I am really excited to see where this goes and how it wraps up Nine and Mill’s story from “beat.” I think that I’m going to really like this song!

max was as excited as he was nervous. he was thankful they had finally arrived and he was able to hold onto wookjin’s hand like his own personal life line. despite being the one in closer relation to the people they were visiting for seollal he was beyond nervous, feeling just a little like a bastard son with no real blood relation to all the people his half sister called family. 

the female had reassured him about them being kind though and they did extend the invitation for the holidays not only to max but also allowing him to bring his boyfriend along. inhaling and exhaling nervously he turned to soyoun as they sat in the living room, waiting for dinner preparations to be ready.

“nuna... it’s really okay that we’re here, right?” he knew it was needless to ask but he just had to be absolutely 100% certain.
