#gopher art#tf2 pyro#tf2 scout#flashfire#so I still have no idea what I think pyro looks like under the mask. but neither does scout so it works out#also I love the thought that all Scout can tell about Pyro without their mask is that they taste like woodsmoke and gasoline or something#like that. just. I love when pyro gets to remain an enigma :)#edit: SHIT SORRY FORGOT TO APPROPRIATELY WARN FOR THAT. SORRY. I MEANT TO 100% BUT FUGGIN FORGOR

High Royalty
Sooooo I couldn't resist. I did the bit with Doll and Lizzy and now it's time for another ship art thing for Of Nightshade and Woodsmoke
Y'all wanted to know what is was...so here we go. Introducing the cursed af poly.
High Royalty: Tessa/Sam/J
aka...
The Empress to be, her favored courtesan...and the soldier turned gardener that both ladies fell in love with.
All three of them are Eliosian...but I don't have a metallic cold pen or marker so just imagine all the dots on them as freckles the color of molten gold.
#nightshade and woodsmoke#murder drones tessa#sam murder drones#j murder drones#human au#fantasy au#Tessa is princess#J is her courtesan#Sam's the gardener they both fell HARD for#High Royalty#CURSED AF POLY

went on a drive through the woods with windows down, overcome by the beauty of bleakness 12 times, saw ravines and cliffs, vast brown winter cornfield hills, stream paths; stopped at top of hill and saw white bark of birch trees among browns of ash and oak trees, overcome again; drove down, car gathered momentum, overcome again, howled like wolf

Run VS sprint cycles of some Sun Constellation wildcats!! I thought it would be interesting to help visually characterize them :3 my notes under the cut--
Luneo: Balanced speed vs stamina. Best at paced, long distance running. Stamina tanks hard on an all out sprint. Could have been one of the fastest Hinterland cats if they didn't wreck their hind leg in a bear fight and then skip the rehab (extension/contraction issues in left hind leg, can't pull it up all the way) 🙄
So'réy: Elegant as he is, he should hopefully look like he's carrying a lot of heavy muscle as a 70lb giant. Not trained to run the way Moorland cats are (all the other examples) which you can tell by how inefficient his loping gait is, he doesn't lift his legs high enough. Sprint is only as fast as the Moorlanders' regular run! Only sprints if something is wrong--note the arched back.
Rhyz: Not the best runner, but a great sprinter. Muscular and has a lot of power in those legs, but stamina is atrocious. Still better at strength training than cardio. Great hunter!
Iki: Fastest cat in the valley bar none. Runs in butt up position because of her rabbit-ass legs. Fantastic stamina, shame she's also the smallest cat in the valley at 16lbs so can't go after deer.

Book Blurb:
"The Woodsmoke Women's Book of Spells captivated me from the very first page... I absolutely treasured it from beginning to end." —Cecelia Ahern, New York Times bestselling author
In a magical new direction for One Christmas Morning author Rachel Greenlaw, an evocative and mysterious story about lost love and the magic of coming home, for readers of Adrienne Young and Breanne Randall.
There is an old tale woven through the mountain town of Woodsmoke about a stranger who appears as the first snow falls in winter, who will disappear without a trace as the frost thaws in spring, leaving a broken heart behind.
Carrie Morgan ran from Woodsmoke ten years ago, and the decision has haunted her ever since. Spending a decade painting and drifting around Europe, she tries to forget her family’s legacy and the friends she left behind. But the Morgan women have always been able to harness the power of the mountains surrounding the town, and their spells—and curses—are sewn into the soil. The mountains, they say, never forget.
Sure enough, when Carrie’s grandmother dies and leaves behind her dilapidated cottage, she returns to renovate—certain she will only be there for one winter. She meets Matthieu as the temperature dips, a newcomer who offers to help refurbish the cottage. Before long, and despite warnings from her great-aunt Cora of the old stories, Carrie finds herself falling for the charming stranger. But when the frost thaws in spring, Matthieu goes missing.
Carrie is convinced he’s real, and he’s in danger. As she fights her way across the mountains to find him, she must confront all the reasons why she left Woodsmoke and decide whether the place she’s spent the last decade running from is the home she’s been searching for.
Rachel Greenlaw, the beloved author of One Christmas Morning, returns with another beautifully crafted, emotionally charged, and romantic tale about lost love and the magic of coming home.
"I immediately fell under the spell of this artfully crafted world that I swore I was in a rundown cottage in the middle of the mountains... A perfect read for witch season." —Kate Robb, author of This Spells Love
Review:
A woman comes home to her hometown of Woodsmoke to reclaim a home she ran away from, face old friends, old magic, and a potential new love. Carrie Morgan ran away from her small town of Woodsmoke ten years ago... ran away on the day of her wedding and never looked back. Carrie has been haunted by her decisions all those years ago and when her grandmother dies and leaves behind her dilapidated cottage, Carrie comes home to renovate it. Carrie was only meant to stay for the one winter but then she meets Matthieu, a handsome newcomer who offers to help fix her cottage saying he knew her grandmother. Now that she's back Carrie has to face her ex fiancee.. who also happened to have married her ex best friend who used a love spell to get him... and the fact that her great aunt Cora has been warning Carrie that she is to stay away from her handsome new stranger. Carrie can't tell if Matthieu is real or if he came from the forest... but magic is happening and Carrie has to finally find her place in Woodsmoke. Can Carrie finally find her home in Woodsmoke and can she find her love at last? This was a beautiful story that had a touch of magic and romance, but it was mostly about finding your place and claiming your own home. It's a sweet read and one I'd recommend for anyone who is looking for a touching magical read with a cozy vibe and some small town magic!

Can anyone give me an explanation in chemistry terms for why woodsmoke is such a persistent smell, especially once it's gotten into your hair? Like, if im sat by a campfire for an hour I will absolutely stink of woodsmoke, and showering won't get it out of my hair completely. No other smell I know does this.

Today, The Lion of Lark-Hayes Manor releases. I’m so grateful to have been a part of this magical story and to bring the cover and interior illustrations to life. Aubrey Hartman wrote a story that I would have voraciously consumed as a child, and this really felt like rewarding my inner kid. Do you like old world magic? Mystery in the pacific northwest? Deals so good they may break reality?
