Fanfic ask: 1, 3, 12, and 27

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?In my early 30s, after I read a Spock/Kirk fanfiction for the first time. I loved it and thought, hey, I can totally do this! Plus I needed a way to blow off steam while dealing with the challenge that is single parenting.

3) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.OCs, definitely. I just really love creating new characters, and they can take on a life of their own so quickly it amazes me at times. It's like they were just waiting to burst into existence. 

12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?In my old fandom, Spock, because I love (and relate to) the constant inner battle between deep, passionate emotion and cool logic. In my current fandom, probably Maglor because my Maglor is clever and snarky, though I really want to start an RP blog for Fëanor because he’s one of my favorite characters and I think I'd greatly enjoy writing him.

27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow?I always have a loose mental outline in my head. For fics like What Fades Away, which is going to be really long, I supplement this by writing down a rough timeline with notes for when certain events occur. The notes are very brief, though, more like a chapter titles, sometimes only a few words as kind of a placeholder for the visual I have of the scene.

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?

I was 19! I’m now 22 so you could say I was kind of a late bloomer. 

2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one?

I’ve written for the Tolkien, Beauty and the Beast, and The Alienist fandoms. And I’m trying to start writing for the Overwatch fandom as well. I don’t really have a preference, but the Tolkien fandom will always have a special place in my heart since it was the first fandom that I wrote for!

4) What is your favourite genre to write for?

I don’t have any. There are some I don’t think I’d be able to write properly (like crime novels) but in general, it doesn’t really matter to me. When I write I usually focus more on the characters than on the setting. 

8) Where do you take your inspiration from?

Again, the characters! If them and their stories speak to me, I’ll be inspired. Simple as that. Now, motivation is another thing entirely :p
