Decorating Your Kitchen with a Premium Dry Fruit Tray: Elevating Style with Different Designs
The kitchen is often the heart of the home, where family members gather, meals are prepared, and memories are made. It's a space that deserves both functionality and beauty. One easy and effective way to enhance your kitchen decor is by incorporating a premium dry fruit tray. While traditionally viewed as a serving accessory, a well-designed dry fruit wooden tray can also double as a decorative centerpiece, adding an air of luxury and sophistication to your kitchen. In this article, we’ll explore how you can use different designs of dry fruit trays to elevate your kitchen decor and make it stand out.
The Appeal of a Dry Fruit Tray as Decor
A dry fruit tray is a practical yet elegant way to display healthy snacks like almonds, pistachios, raisins, and cashews, but its use goes far beyond that. When not in use for serving, these trays can act as decorative pieces, bringing a touch of refinement to your kitchen. With the right design, it can harmoniously blend with your kitchen's overall aesthetic while adding functionality.
From modern to rustic, minimalist to ornate, the wide range of premium dry fruit tray designs available today allows you to select a tray that perfectly complements your kitchen's decor style. So, let’s dive into the various ways you can use a dry fruit tray to decorate your kitchen.
1. Create a Stylish Centerpiece on Your Kitchen Island or Dining Table
One of the simplest ways to make a decorative statement in your kitchen is by placing a premium dry fruit tray as a centerpiece on your kitchen island or dining table. Opt for a tray made of materials like Sheesham wood, mango wood, or ceramic with intricate designs. These trays are not only durable but also exude a luxurious vibe.
For a more sophisticated touch, choose a wooden dry fruit tray with a Sheesham finish. The rich, dark hues of Sheesham wood can add a sense of elegance to any space. Pair it with a modern or minimalist kitchen, and you'll achieve the perfect balance between nature-inspired beauty and contemporary style. The dry fruit tray can hold an assortment of nuts, creating a vibrant and inviting centerpiece that encourages healthy snacking.
2. Add Texture and Warmth with Rustic Designs
If your kitchen has a rustic or farmhouse-inspired design, a dry fruit tray with a natural wood finish will fit perfectly. You can select a mango wood dry fruit tray, which is known for its durability and rich grain patterns. Mango wood has a warm, golden color that can bring a cozy, homey feel to your kitchen.
To enhance the rustic charm, you could go for trays with hand-carved designs or trays that have a slightly weathered finish. The organic look of a mango wood dry fruit tray complements a rustic decor style, adding depth and texture to the space. This tray can be placed on open shelves, countertops, or even a kitchen island, contributing to both the aesthetics and functionality of the kitchen.
3. Incorporate Sophisticated Designs for a Modern Touch
If your kitchen leans towards a more modern, sleek aesthetic, you’ll want a premium dry fruit tray that aligns with this style. Look for trays that have clean lines, polished finishes, or metallic accents. A stainless steel or glass dry fruit tray can add a touch of modern luxury, especially if it’s paired with a monochrome or minimalist kitchen design.
A modern dry fruit tray could feature compartments or sections, each holding different types of nuts or dried fruits, presenting a geometric and organized look. By choosing a contemporary design, you’re not just adding a decorative item to your kitchen, but you're enhancing its overall style and sophistication.
4. Use Dry Fruit Trays to Complement Seasonal Decor
A dry fruit tray is a versatile piece of decor that can be easily adapted to fit different seasons or special occasions. For example, during festive seasons like Diwali or Christmas, you can use a luxury dry fruit tray as part of your holiday decor. Choose trays with vibrant designs, festive colors, or trays that have gold and silver detailing to create a sense of celebration and warmth in your kitchen.
During the spring or summer months, consider using light-colored trays or trays with floral or nature-inspired designs. This can refresh your kitchen’s look, giving it a light, airy feel that reflects the season.
5. Display Dry Fruit Trays on Open Shelving
If your kitchen features open shelving, you can use dry fruit trays as display pieces to add elegance and personality to the space. A beautifully designed tray, placed alongside jars, dishes, and other kitchen accessories, can help elevate the overall look of your kitchen.
Select a wooden dry fruit tray or a tray with a marble base for a chic, organized display. When arranged thoughtfully, these trays create visual interest and a focal point in the room. It’s a subtle way of showing that your kitchen is not only a place for cooking but also a space for artistry and design.
6. Layered Decor with Multiple Trays
For a more elaborate decorative look, consider layering multiple dry fruit trays of different shapes, sizes, and materials. You can mix a ceramic tray with a wooden tray or a tray with metallic accents for a layered, eclectic vibe. Place these trays together on a countertop or on top of a kitchen cabinet for a curated, designer-inspired look.
This layered approach works especially well in larger kitchens where you have more counter space to display decorative pieces. You could even arrange the trays with other items like candles, vases, or small potted plants to create a balanced, eye-catching display.
7. Functionality Meets Design
The beauty of using a dry fruit tray as a decorative element is that it seamlessly blends style with functionality. While serving as a piece of decor, the tray remains practical for everyday use. Whether you’re hosting guests or simply organizing your pantry, the tray can easily transition from decor to serveware, making it a versatile addition to your kitchen.
Conclusion
Decorating your kitchen with a premium dry fruit tray is an easy and stylish way to enhance the space's overall ambiance. Whether your kitchen is modern, rustic, or somewhere in between, there’s a dry fruit tray design that can complement your decor. From creating a luxurious centerpiece to adding a rustic touch, the options are endless. With its blend of functionality and aesthetics, a premium dry fruit tray can transform your kitchen into a more inviting, organized, and visually appealing space.

courting - muse a rests one hand on muse b’s back and holds out the other for muse b to hold to help them climb up/down something
for whichever of your girls you feel inspired for today, please!

hiiiii friend! thanks so much for this. I loved writing this one (from this prompt list, feel free to drop them in my ask box if one seems to pique your interest!) I wrote for Olive and Dougie 🥰
She is a little miffed. The effects of being apart from her best friend Valencia were beginning to take hold, despite her traveling back to Brooklyn only two days ago. Val and Ev had made the journey to Michigan with Olive, the pair of them staunchly certain on making sure their girl got there safely.
courting: muse a rests one hand on muse b's back and holds out the other for muse b to hold to help them climb up/down something.
Olive awakens with a sigh, patting the empty space next to her. She had hoped that Dougie would still be sound asleep next to her, whimpering slightly as he dreamt before curling himself around her when he feels she's shuffled closer to him. Alas, he is nowhere to be found, his side of the bed cooled off making it obvious that he'd been up for quite some time.
“You don't have to, Ernest,” she had protested after they'd been told the price of three train tickets to Lansing. “I can make it myself!”
“No,” he had replied sternly, his eyes darting towards his fiancee, Val. “We are coming with you.”
“Too right,” the Brooklyn native had interjected, her hand going to grab Olive’s and their fingers intertwining. “Besides,” she sighs. “If he doesn't see his guy, he'll be upset. Think he's having withdrawal symptoms.”
“Hey!” he teases, hand comically on his heart. “How did you guess?”
The girls had, of course, spoken on the phone the very second Val and Everett had arrived back in Val's hometown, the pair of them chuckling down the phone receiver. It was a strange feeling, sharing the same sleeping and living space, the same air and body heat for almost two years to now being apart like this. The pair of them feel as if a part of them is missing, and it's a part they both need in order to function. At this realization, Olive feels her chest tighten as tears stream down her cheeks, wiping them away quickly when she hears the creak of the wooden stairs as someone climbs up them. There is a soft rap on the door, before the golden door knob rattles as it opens.
“Good morning, sleepyhead,” Dougie greets softly, retrieving a tray and closing the door by kicking it closed with his leg. “Thought you might be hungry,” he says, gesturing towards the tray that he puts down on the blanket. She looks down and sees toast, coffee, a bowl of fruit and a delicate pink daisy he'd stuck in a small jam jar. Before she can help it, she feels a sob rise up from her chest to her throat once again, two fat tears dropping into the coffee.
“Hey, sugar,” he soothes, moving closer to her to wipe his thumb under her eyes in order to dry them. “What's up?”
“It's so silly,” she sniffs. “This is just all so different and I don't do well with change. I'm still used to waking up with Val in the hut and now–ugh, I'm sorry. I'm happy to be here with you, truly I am. It's just…”
“Strange?” he asks, finishing the sentence for her. “You've had a lot of changes all at once, Ollie. I get it, honey.”
“Thank you,” she smiles, wiping her nose quickly. “You got up early. I thought you'd still be asleep.”
“Well,” he shrugs, his hand on top of hers. “I had a feeling you'd be a little sad today, so I did something for the two of us and thought we could go out.”
“Oh, Dougie,” she cries. “I don't think I'm feeling good enough to even go beyond the backyard.”
“Then that's where we'll go. Saves on gas,” he jokes, leaning over and kissing her forehead. “No rush, okay? Eat, relax, come down when you're ready.”
“Okay,” she breathes, biting into her toast and sipping the coffee. “Perfect.”
Eventually venturing down the wooden stairs, Olive takes one last look in the mirror that hangs on a wall at the bottom of the stairs, smoothing her dress of a final few wrinkles.
“Hey,” she smiles, as Dougie turns around to greet her. His eyes soften the moment he sees her. “I know we're only going in the backyard but I thought I'd feel better if I made myself pretty.”
“You look beautiful, sweetheart. As always.”
“Thank you, darling,” she replies, her cheeks turning a sweet shade of pink. Her eyes crinkle as she smiles at him, that dimple he's crazy about showing itself as she grins. He takes the two steps that separate them and kisses her deeply, her arms winding around his neck while his fall to her waist, momentarily running his hands over the soft material of her dress as he pulls her even closer.
“Come on,” he says. “Everything is set.”
A simple, large gingham blanket lays on the slightly overgrown lawn under three large trees, the blossoms just beginning to bloom at the turn of the season. They sit with their faces toward the sun, the soft warmth of it already making Olive feel a little less alien in her surroundings. Right above them is a tree house, the wood creaking in the gentle breeze of the day.
“Is this a picnic?” she asks, eyes narrowing playfully at him.
“Sure is, Ol. Do you like it?”
“I love it, James. This is gorgeous.”
“Phew,” he breathes out, comically wiping his brow. “I'm still trying to figure out what we both like to do together. So much of our time used to be taken up that we never really discussed it.”
“War tends to do that, my love,” she laughs, kissing his cheek as he sits beside her. “Thank you,” she murmurs, nesting into him.
“Anything for you, doll. Here,” he says, rummaging in a picnic basket. “Made your favorite.”
“PB and J?” she asks keenly, unwrapping it right away. “And how did you cut it? Crank’s way or Gale's?”
They both laugh, reminiscing on Olive's first PB and J where the whole gang had convened in the Mess Hall kitchen to give British Olive the true American experience of her first peanut butter and jelly sandwich. All had helped, including Croz spreading the peanut butter, Val spreading the jelly, Helen finding a plate. Ev even cut the crusts off before handing it to Egan, who, instead of making himself useful, took what he called a “tester bite,” all while Charles and Gale debated whether it tastes better cut into rectangles or triangles. Crank had won the toss, Olive presented with two neat white triangles on a small plate.
“Crank's way - the only way,” Dougie says, taking a bite of his own. “I'll never forget the moment I saw your life change after taking your first bite.”
“Yep,” she giggles, the bread sticking to her teeth a little. “Been my favorite ever since; but only if you make it.”
“Why?”
“Tastes better that way.”
Olive turns her head up slightly to shade her eyes from the glowing afternoon sun, finding a wooden board on top of a few conjoined tree branches.
“What's up there?” she asks, pointing to what she's just seen.
“Oh, that?” he asks as he looks up. “My old treehouse. Dad and I built it one summer.”
She stands, wiping her hands on her skirt and finds a small set of stairs leading up to a doorway.
“Can I go inside?”
“Nuh-uh,” he says, shaking his head. “Read the sign, please.”
“No Girls Allowed,” she reels off. “James Douglass, you are–”
“I know. And there's proof that I've always been this way. Cheeky and insufferable.”
“Let me in, meanie.”
“Only because it's you,” he winks, leaving the blanket and joining her at the stairs. He goes up first, making sure the old, rotting wood would hold the pair of them. When he is sure, he places one hand on the small of her back and pushes a little, allowing his free hand to grip on to hers to help her up a little.
“This is adorable, James,” she squeals, taking practically tiptoe like steps to avoid the wood creaking or anything falling. “So cute.”
“Don't let Mom catch you up here with me,” he laughs, once again nodding towards the sign.
“Insufferable,” she sighs, shaking her head.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “But you love me.”
“I do,” she smiles, taking his hand in her own and stroking the back of it with her thumb. “Gimme a smooch,” she giggles, pulling him towards her. “No-one's around to see you break your own rule.”

warnings: the after effects of mind violation; vomit (not ED related); canon-typical violence.
AO3 Master Fic List
When I awake, it's deep into the night. The air was hot and muggy, and in my uneasy sleep I had almost garroted myself, my sheets coming untucked and twisted tightly around my middle. In a weak attempt to detangle myself, I roll too close to the edge of the bed, flopping onto the hard, wooden floor, my hands and knees screaming.
Why is everything such a mess? I think, pressing my face into the linen to muffle my groan.
The house is silent, overly so. Following Gorron’s advice, Wong had departed on some mission to find a mind magician good enough to help me and in the few days since that night I hadn’t seen Stephen at all. The risk of running into him had made me too anxious to leave my bedroom, so like the mature adult I am I resort to sneaking into the the kitchen for food. My headaches have gotten much worse, but I can’t face Stephen to get help. Stephen hasn't sought me out either. I guess he's trying to give me space.
AO3
Mercifully, despite the discomfort of the floor, it's still much cooler than the air.
“I’m such an idiot,” I mutter. Every time I think about it, an acute embarrassment hits me like a train. Why had I kissed him? Stephen was a friend trying to help me through what may be the worst time of my life, and I had been foolish enough think we were having a moment.
In my exhausted state, it's easy to just fall asleep on the floor.
What must have been a few hours later I am drawn from my slumber, nauseous and sweating. I'm up quicker than I can move my limbs, tripping over the sheets and producing a loud thump as I fall on my face, gagging and dizzy, but I free myself, bursting through the door to my ensuite, and vomit into the toilet. All I had been eating recently was cereal, and said cereal is being hurled up into the bowl. I'm shaking and shivering, arms resting on each side of the seat for support. The burn radiates through my aching chest, which seizes with every violent retch.
A hand pats me on the back, but I am too busy hurling my guts up to acknowledge it. It's joined by another hand which gathers my hair back, securing it in place. After a few moments of dry heaving and coughing, I spit out the last of the vomit and turn to find Wong at my side. He pushes a glass of water into my hand, and I gargled it.
“Brush your teeth,” Wong instructed, “do you think you could shower too?”
I nodded and he stood up, turning the shower on with magic and handing me my toothbrush, prepared with paste. Wong departed the bathroom and shut the door behind him.
The tile was cool beneath me and by the time I had stepped into the shower the water is too hot. When I finish, I pull the shower curtain back to find a clean towel and set of pajamas in the steamy room.
Stepping into my room to find the mess tidied, my bed made and the window open. If I had possessed more energy, I might have gawked at the sight.
Wong appears, coming through the door. “Sit.”
I do so, slumping into the armchair by the window to take advantage of the influx of cool air. Wong places a tray of porridge, fruit and a large glass of orange juice on the side table and my stomach audibly groans at the sight. The silver tray glints in the dull light.
“Eat.”
Wong waited in silence until I make it through the meal, before disappearing with the dishes and returning with a large drink bottle of chilled water.
“What have you been eating since I’ve been gone?” he asks, dropping into the other armchair with a sound that suggested he desperately needed to sit down.
“Mostly cereal,” I replied.
Wong sighs incredulously, “that’s all Stephen’s been feeding you?”
“Not strictly speaking.”
“What do you mean?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
There are many ways that you can describe Wong. His body was made up of curves and soft lines, and yet every part of him radiates sharpness, not in an unfeeling way, but in the practical, no-nonsense way a scalpel does. The man across from me contains magnitudes, infinitely powerful, and yet gentle enough to handle Latpian moths. “I have been out chasing leads for days. I’m exhausted. I’m grumpy. Tell me what you mean right now.”
“I kissed Stephen.”
Wong blanched, “oh. Congratulations.”
“Are not necessary,” I press my face into my palms. “I thought we were- well I don’t know what I thought, but I must have misread the situation because he made it very clear that I had overstepped a boundary. He hasn’t spoken to me in days.”
Wong’s eyebrows knitted together, but not in sympathy as I had expected. Rather he looked annoyed.
“Sorry, that’s probably T.M.I.-”
“No, that’s not- so you’ve just been in your room this whole time I’ve been gone?”
I nod.
“And he hasn’t checked on you?”
I shake my head.
“At all?”
I repeated the action. I am getting the impression I have gotten Stephen into a lot of trouble.
“You’re incredibly ill and he’s too embarrassed to check on you?”
“I mean, it’s my fault too, I haven’t exactly sought him out.”
“That shouldn’t matter, you’re his responsibility to- he needs to grow up,” a groan, and a shaken head. “Can’t leave the house for one second without it all turning to chaos.”
“Where did you go?” I ask, desperate for a change in subject.
Wong took a deep breath, “searching for anyone that might be able to look through your brain and figure out who put the enchantment on you in the first place. I spoke to a great many mystics.”
“Did you find anyone?”
“Perhaps. It depends on your opinion.”
“I’m not sure I'm qualified.”
Leaning forward in his seat, elbows resting on his thighs, Wong begins, “Stephen and I have been searching for someone that might be able to help you, but we've had a… disagreement about how to proceed. Stephen has been making his own communications from the Sanctum to various magical beings, but truth be told, he has been unsuccessful. Wanda has vanished, Master Xiong is busy and Onye is off-realm,” he rubs his temples. “I took it upon myself to try a different path. I’ve visited Asgard, drawing up an agreement.”
I opened my mouth to say something, but Wong raises his hand.
“What Loki did to you was- what I mean is that this is not something I am being flippant over. Stephen doesn’t know that I went to talk with Loki about this. In fact, he expressly forbade me from doing so. It is something we have clashed over.”
That’s why they were fighting.
“I disobeyed a command from the Supreme,” Wong sighs. “As far as the ethical ramifications of my actions... I will only bring Loki here if you give me permission, but before you make a decision, allow me to plead my case.” He pauses, waiting for my invitation, and I give it to him. “Loki, despite his faults, is one of the most powerful mind mystics in the realm. We might be able to find someone else that could do the work in your psyche, but we don’t know if they will be successful. I am concerned that waiting to act might have long-term consequences on your mind.”
“Well, that’s valid, I guess. I'm not mad that you talked to him or anything. I’m terrified about how this might affect me, and..” I trail off, searching for the right words to describe how I feel, an impossible task. “Ever since my rendezvous with Gorron, my perspective on the incident has shifted a little.”
“I didn’t know that Stephen had managed to secure a meeting with Gorron at such short-notice.”
How that little worm, pardon, grub, had such prestige amongst sorcerers, I will never know. “Yeah, I assumed that’s why you went to Asgard?”
“No, I must have departed before. What did Gorron have to say?”
It takes a few moments to get Wong caught up, but by the end of it, he looks thoughtful. “When I visited Asgard, I met with King Thor and told him your story. He was very sympathetic. A big focus of the new king has been maintaining good relations with Earth, so he called Loki to the throne room to defend himself.”
I listen intently.
"Loki insists that the damage was not his fault. He posits that he hasn't seen this happen in a thousand years of mind magic. He could have been lying, but with Gorron's confirmation... If you had not have this mystery enchantment place upon you, it's unlikely that Loki's involvement would have harmed you."
There is a potent mix of emotions swirling inside of me. On the one hand the idea of seeing Loki again, and allowing him such intimate reign over my head is nerve-wracking, but on the other hand, Wong has a point. For a second I swear I can feel Loki's cold hand on my arm.
"We can do it here, at the Sanctum?"
Wong nods.
"And Stephen?"
"You just focus on getting well."
"He's going to hate me if I agree to bring Loki back here."
"He does not hate you at all."
"I'm not happy about it, but I want Loki’s help.”
"There's more. Rather ambitiously, Thor is hoping to make Loki his ambassador to Earth. Something about a new era of public relations for Asgard."
"Well, if Loki is going to continue to act the way he does, they are going to have a hell of a time repairing his image."
"Quite," Wong agrees, "even though Loki wasn't at fault for your injuries, Thor was very angry for his involvement. He ordered Loki to help, and they argued as only brothers can, but Thor is his king, and his word is law bound in Odinmagic. There was some concession though. Loki was allowed to ask for something in return, something to make up for the inconvenience. An embassy, here on Earth."
There is a long pause before I get it. "Wait, here? The Sanctum?"
Wong cringes, "it was the only way to get him to agree. If he helps, Loki will have a right to this house for one year."
"Well, that sucks."
Wong stayed longer than expected, but the company was much appreciated. The sun was tugging at the edges of the sky by the time he departs. In the time I had known him, I had befriended a very unique version of Wong. I was essentially nothing to him, just a stranger from the street that had found their home at the Sanctum, much like a stray animal, and therefore there was little need to maintain his reputation. He is solemn, yes, but he is also friendly and incredibly fed up - all he wants is a little peace and quiet.
I pull myself together. This is my house too. Even if I had humiliated myself in front of Stephen, I can sit in the library. I probably won't even see him.
The artifacts drew me to the Sanctum, but it was the library that kept me hostage. Thousands upon thousands of books, crammed into the space, shelves teetering so dangerously they could only have been held up by magic. Unstable stacks taller than I am all over the floor. The arm chairs are comfortable, but in order to be a touch more conspicuous, I choose to sit at the bay window. It has a rich brown leather seat but with a pattern on its skin like peacock tail feathers; the hide of an animal I couldn’t identify. My favorite place to read. I selected the most interesting looking book from the pile stacked nearest, and settled in to read. The title is in cuneiform, but the gilded remnants of an old translation spell still lingered on the page.
Before long, I hear the soft padding of bare feet, and a freshly woken sorcerer appears, cutting through the library for quicker access to the kitchen. In his groggy state, Stephen didn’t notice me. The adrenaline rush subsides after a few minutes.
An hour passes, and I am stuck trying to decipher one line. If one cannot decide between the fruits of his labors and the cut of meat on the slab, the meat shall rot and become unclean. Since the beginning of living memory, the fruit has always been rancid. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Normally, Stephen helped with the indecipherable stuff. Even just talking it over helped. I debated whether the translation spell had become too worn to work correctly, the page didn’t seem to flow as it should.
Another set of footsteps echo through the library, and Stephen, who again hadn’t seemed to notice me, wanders in. He hovers at the bottom of one of the shelves, before the radiant glow of his magic floated him upwards out of sight. When he returned he held a book in his hands.
His feet made purchase with the ground and I watch him visibly tense as he notices me.
“How long have you been there?”
“All morning.” There it was again, that wave of embarrassment. I can’t believe I was so stupid to think that he might be interested in me. I turn my face back to the book to hide the blooming warmth there.
“Oh.”
There is a long awkward pause as he stands, watching as I clearly don’t continue reading. I try to focus my brain on the words, but I'm tired and my head throbs.
“How have you been feel-” but Stephen cut himself off when another presence joined us.
Wong and Stephen nod, but neither say anything.
The embarrassment in my gut turns to guilt. They weren’t talking because of me, because they’d had a fight about me.
Again no one spoke, and again no one was fooled by my reading act.
After what felt like an age, Stephen said, “well… back to work,” and walked out of the room rather stiffly.
Wong waits for the Sorcerer Supreme to be out of earshot before speaking. “Loki will be here soon. I need to know now if you’ve changed your mind.”
I shiver. “I haven’t, but what are you going to do about-”
“I will handle Stephen.”
The yelling tips off Loki's arrival.
Peeling out of the library and into the front room, I rush towards the sound, my stomach twisted in knots. I stop dead outside the door, which had been left carelessly flung open.
A glowing light is wrapped tight around Stephen’s fist and he swing at Loki, who doesn’t so much as flinch. Wong is between the pair in a second.
“What the fuck is he doing here, Wong?”
“I told you-” Wong began but was cut off.
“And I told you-”
No one seemed to notice my presence.
“So passionate, Strange,” Loki drawls, head cocked to the side, hands strung nonchalantly in his pockets.
Stephen lurches forward, but Wong holds him back with a palm on his chest.
“Careful,” said the prince, “don’t want to give the impression that you have other options. Might make me feel like I’m not needed here.” Despite the air of magic around him, Loki just didn’t seem to fit inside the Sanctum Sanctorum - his magic a different origin, of a different realm. Even with Stephen's threats, he's at ease.
“You aren’t needed here.”
“She’s only getting worse, Stephen," Wong interjects.
“He did this to her!”
"I did no such thing," Loki snaps, like the suggestion that he had caused this damage genuinely offended him. "Say it again and I will pull your tongue from your throat."
Wong ignores Loki. “He didn’t do this, Strange, and you know it. Gorron confirmed it.”
“He still forced himself into her mind-!”
"Yes, yes, he did," Wong appeals, "but she agreed to this. She wants to try."
“Shall I come back later?” Loki says with rolling eyes. “Wait until she’s on the verge of death? Until you have to come crawling on your hands and knees begging for my help to unscramble her mind? Leave it until then, and I'll say no, deal or no deal.”
For a second it was like everyone was frozen, and then a portal opens at Wong’s feet and he falls through before he can stop himself. A burst of orange the size of an anvil flies at Loki, who just managed\s to swipe it away at the last second. Loki sends the energy flying back at Stephen in razor-sharp shards of green. The shield absorbs most of the impact, but a few of the shards skate past Stephen, and through the open door towards me. I try to phases, but I just can't, can’t even move as I watch them fly at me almost in slow motion, growing larger and larger.
An open hand from Stephen sends a disk of energy at my torso, pushing me out of the way. I hadn’t realized I had been holding my breath until the disk pushes the gasp from me, stumbling back several feet.
“Here is my patient now,” Loki turned smoothly on his heels. “A pleasure, as always.”
I didn’t greet him.
“Is it true? You agreed to this? To his help?” Stephen faces me, taking several steps towards me, his voice considerably quieter than moments ago. Hot anger had gone icy.
I nod, sheepishly.
The emotions that rolled across Stephen’s face were too quick for me to identify. His eyebrow raises, and he swallows whatever it was he was going to say and shook his head. “Fine.”
Behind him, Loki looks overjoyed with the drama, his emerald eyes bright with pure excitement. There is something about him that make it impossible to get a read on him, like a cat playing with its food, and it twists a knot in my stomach.
Am I making a mistake?
Stephen steps sharply away, arms folded against his chest and freeing up the direct line between Loki and myself. I try to make eye contact with Stephen, but he's too angry to look at me. It stings like a wasp.
After a few moments of silence, Loki clapped his hands together, delighted. “Right! Shall we begin?”

Tumblr, today I am giving you a gift. In honour of Stir-Up Sunday, I offer to you my most sacred possession: my world-famous* Drunken Christmas Fruitcake recipe.
I got this recipe from my partner before he was even my partner. He doesn't recall where he got it from originally, possibly his mother. I have made at least one nearly every year since before we got together. Some years I have made up to 8, starting in October because you need a whole weekend. I have made 6 inch square, 9 inch square, and mini 6 inch loaf pan sizes. This year, I am just making one 6-inch square cake, for us. And so now I share my recipe with you.
Tumblr media
This is the original recipe. As you can see, my copy is well-loved. I've made some changes over the years, so below is my updated version of this original.
Quantities listed are suitable for 6-inch square tin (bake 4 hours). Use 0.5x for 6-inch loaf (bake 3.5 hours). 1.5x for 8-inch square (bake 5 hours). Double for 9-inch round (bake 5.5 hours). Triple for 10-inch square (bake 6.25 hours).
You will need 3 bowls including one large one, a wooden spoon, a kitchen scale, and a cake tin (preferably square and in one of the above sizes). A spatula, sifter, and mixer are useful but not required.
Allow a whole weekend for this very important task.
Ingredients
(Yes, they're Imperial. Yes, I'm in Australia. No, I haven't converted them. I just use the Imperial setting on my kitchen scales.)
6oz butter
6oz dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon black treacle
2 teaspoons Gravox (yes, really)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons brandy
6oz plain flour
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6oz currants
6oz raisins
12oz sultanas
2oz candied peel
2oz glace cherries (candied cherries)
2oz chopped almonds
Grated rind of 1 lemon
Sherry, rum, or whisky for soaking
Method
The day before, mix all the dried fruit together in a bowl. Break up the fruit if it's stuck together. Pour a few glugs of alcohol of some kind over it and mix it up. I usually use the same alcohol I'm planning on soaking the cake in but it doesn't have to be. I've used various rums (spiced, black, white, whatever), various whiskies, brandy, port... Whatever you have in the cupboard. Cover the bowl with cling wrap and leave it to soak overnight. Give it a mix a couple of times if you remember.
On baking day, start by preheating your oven to 275F/135C/Very Slow. It should be just on bake, not fan bake. Make sure you have a rack in the middle of the oven. Check that you haven't left any baking trays in there.
In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and treacle using a stand mixer, a hand mixer, or just giving it a really good beating. It doesn't need to be very light and fluffy. This is not a light and fluffy cake.
Add the eggs and the brandy to the creamed mixture and mix well.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, Gravox, mixed spice, and cinnamon together. Or just mix it with a fork, that's fine too. Just make sure it's well-mixed.
Get the bowl with your soaked fruit and give it another mix. Throw the chopped almonds in there and grate the lemon in too. Give this fruit mixture another mix to make sure it's well-combined.
You will need a wooden spoon for this step. Put the spatula down. I know you think you can just mix it with a spatula but you can't. Listen to me and my multiple broken spatulas and use a wooden spoon. Tip about a third of the fruit mixture into the big bowl with the butter mixture and mix well. Add a third of the flour mixture and mix again. Repeat until all your ingredients are in the big bowl and well combined. You shouldn't be able to see any dry flour bits.
Get your tin and spray it with baking spray or grease it with butter. Line it with brown paper or baking paper, leaving a good overhang. Spray the paper then add another layer. Give the last layer another spray. You don't want this to stick.
Tip the mixture into the lined tin. Push it into the corners and flatten it out. It doesn't matter if the tin is nearly full. It's not going to rise much. It should look like this:
Tumblr media
Check that your oven has finished heating and is on the right setting and there are no baking trays in there (I told you to remove them, remember?). Put the tin in the middle of the oven. If you've used this base recipe in a 6-inch tin, bake for 4 hours. Otherwise, check the baking times at the top of the recipe. If your oven doesn't bake evenly, give the cake a spin halfway through. It should look nice and brown and feel solid.
Leave it in the tin on a cooling rack for about half an hour until you can handle the tin. Carefully invert the cake onto a plate and pull off the paper. Pour some alcohol over the bottom. Put it back in the tin (I carefully put the paper back over it like a hat and push the tin back down on top and then turn it upright again). Cover it with a tea towel and leave it to cool completely (24 hours).
The next day, pour more alcohol over the top. Wrap the cake in two layers of cling wrap and then two layers of tinfoil. Store it in a tin until Christmas Day.
Substitutions and notes
You can use molasses or golden syrup instead of treacle - the cake will have a darker or lighter flavour and colour depending on what you use.
Gravox is vegetarian friendly and is there for colour and salt.
Use whatever Christmassy spices you wish and have to hand.
The fruit quantities are guidelines only. As long as you have about the right weight in total, use what you want. I usually add extra cherries and also about double the amount of almonds because one small packet of slivered almonds is just over 4oz.
For the grated rind use whatever citrus you have loitering in your kitchen.
You don't need to coat the fruit in the flour mixture first to stop it sinking because there is So. Much. Fruit.
Use whatever alcohol you have to hand. The quantity in the ingredients list is a guideline. Follow your heart. If you want an alcohol-free cake, find a different recipe. This is a Drunken Christmas Fruitcake, after all.
The cake will keep forever. I've made them up to two months ahead but usually aim for the traditional Stir-Up Sunday for my baking day. Leaving it for a few weeks before eating lets the flavour develop. The alcohol stops it going off. One time I opened my storage tin to put my cake in and found a forgotten one from the year before and it was still fine!
So there you are, Tumblr. My early Christmas present to you. If you decide to make it, I'd love to hear about it.

Feline ears flicked , amber eyes occasionally glancing over to his scroll , propped up against the back end of the kitchen counter where he'd pinned up a video message to his main display .
He'd already created a notes section containing a detailed outline for the recipe attached to the side of the video itself but ... it was a nice feeling just listening and following along with her motions . A soft smile to his expression as he listened to the comforting sound of her voice .
It wasn't often that he'd get to visit his parents , and other family friends in Menagerie but they'd made a habit of sharing recipes like this with one another in their messages or calls . Even though they were so far away from one another , cooking alongside of his mother like this ? Even if it wasn't live with her in real time ? Still made him feel like she was standing right next to him all the same .
Whisking together his dry ingredients of licorice root , lemon balm , and rosemary into one bowl . Normally ? tea made with these ingredients alone would be enough for him . It didn't need to be sweet , but taking into account the preferences of some of his new team members he'd decided to make some adjustments to make it a bit sweeter for their tastes .
On a wooden cutting board situated next to him , he'd cut up some cotton candy green grapes he'd gotten beforehand that would be diluted into the tea once the hot water was added to them . Then from there , the next step would be to add just a light amount of honey as the finishing touch .
Once his dry ingredients were mixed together well enough , he'd add his chopped up grapes to the bowl . Giving them a stir .
Then everything would be placed into one tall glass , followed soon after by steaming hot water , mixed again , then all the ingredients strained out once the water had taken in the flavors of all the herbs , fruit , and honey . Perfectly incorporated . A nice amber coloring to it with a delightful herbal aroma .
Pouring the tea into a kettle , and into four cups , he set everything onto a nearby tray . Now ready to be served .
Cleaning up the bowls , and utensils he'd used before leaving the kitchen area , he'd start to make his way back towards the school's lounge area where the rest of team RWBY was .
Their classes may have been over , but the school day was not . There was still homework to be done , and some required reading to do but ... that wasn't what was on his mind at the moment as he walked out of the kitchen back to student lounge with tray in hand .
He'd elected to brew some tea for the group as a means of trying to ease some of the tension they'd been having . It hadn't been all that long since they been assigned to one another as teammates ... well at least him and Weiss with Ruby , and her older sister Yang .
Due to his assigned responsibility of looking after the Schnee heiress , searching for her during the initiation exam had been his primary focus , and one he'd been successful at .
While he thought of the role of team leader as being largely superficial , as an effective team couldn't solely operate on the decisions of one person alone , the position had held more value in Weiss's eyes than his . Which he could understand now why she'd feel frustrated at not being chosen by the headmaster to serve as the leader of their team .
He didn't know the means by which the team leaders were chosen . Maybe they had been judged based off of their individual performances during the initiation exam ? Or was it based on prior academic history ? He still wasn't certain .
Regardless as he entered the room , the air still felt heavy .
With his ebony tail swaying slowly at his back , he'd set down a cup before Yang , and Ruby . Both reading , but one of the two showing signs of struggle more than the other in understanding what they were being asked to study .
" Go at your own pace . The easiest way to bring down a mountain is to chip away at it with a steady hand . Focus on what you can understand , and break down what you can't into smaller pieces you can take on one at a time . If there's anything you don't understand , feel free to ask . We'll be here "
After seeing her perk up a bit with his advice , he'd move on to Weiss now . Holding out the tray with the last two cups to see if she'd like some as well .

Lou & Tab + “the first glass of fresh water” from this prompts list, for @shoshiwrites
I was feeling the M*A*S*H AU for this one, so have some head nurse Louise Johnson and medical orderly Floyd Talbert being thirsty in every sense of the word 👀
Sometime in the early afternoon, during the tenth or eleventh consecutive hour of surgery, Louise pushes through the door separating the OR from the scrub room, slings off her gloves and unties her mask, and slumps on the hard wooden bench running along one wall. A stinging kind of relief spreads up her legs, across her hips and her back, all that feeling suddenly rushing back in, pleasure to the point of pain.
Eyes closed, her head tipped back against the wall, she plucks at her T-shirt with one hand, peeling the damp fabric from her skin. Underneath her cap, her scalp prickles.
She draws in a deep breath, the muggy air catching at the back of her throat, and exhales just as slowly. Someone had brought round mugs of orange squash an hour or so ago, and there is a cloying aftertaste on her tongue, souring her breath. She should get up, she knows; she should take the few steps to the scrub sink, sluice her face and rinse out her mouth, and then cup her hands under the stream of water and gulp mouthful after mouthful until she can drink no more. Instead she stays slouched on the bench, limbs heavy, a long, low swell of exhaustion moving over her.
The curtain screening the surgeons’ and orderlies’ changing room from view slides across the rail; footsteps sound on the concrete floor.
“Taking five, Major?”
“Clearly. And what are you doing, Sergeant?”
“The same.”
Talbert sits down next to her, making a sound half-sigh, half-moan as he lowers himself to the bench. He rolls his shoulders. This close, she can smell the sweat on him, sickly, like overripe fruit, run through with the tang of blood.
Louise turns her head to look at him, taking in his closed eyes and the line of his nose, his bare forearms, the glass of water he holds in his lap, fogged by the patches of condensation around his fingers.
The sight of water only makes her more aware of how hot she is, her skin flushed and slick beneath her uniform, of her hoarse throat and dry mouth. She stares at the glass. She wants to put that glass to her lips and drink that water; she wants to put her face into it, to strip off her clothes and dive into it—
Talbert lifts the glass and holds it towards her. She blinks at it, then meets his eye. He nods.
She will always remember that first sip of water, even at the distance of years and thousands of miles. Cool, clear, fresh water, untainted by chlorine, clean of dust or silt; water from a glass, not a mug or a canteen. Sparkling, almost heady, like champagne. She rolls it around her mouth, and then tips her head back and swallows as slowly as she can.
They pass the glass back and forth, taking it in turns to drink a mouthful, drawing out this pleasure for as long as their short break will allow, and when the glass is empty, drained of its last drop, they meet each other’s eye. Their elbows touch, damp skin to damp skin.
“Thanks,” she says.
He smiles. “Anytime.”
She returns the smile, slowly. They’ve been here two years and he still manages to surprise her, in these rare moments of sincerity.
They refasten their masks and scrub, again, and head back into the OR for fresh gloves and aprons, back into the soup of smells and the noise, instruments on metal trays and the oxygen tanks and orders for suction, clamps, retraction… In the distance, up at the front, the artillery rumbles on.

Chapter: The Wedding
Year: 1007 Narnian Years
Trigger warnings: n/a
Please note that the parts concerning the actions and speech of Jacquetta, Meadow, Susan, Lucy, Rayne, and Taliya have been written with their respective players so they have the control of the actions and words of their characters and portions of this may be featured on their blogs as well.
Tumblr media
Arlise’s ladies woke her at sunrise, in the light of the cool blue sky.
A steaming bath was already filled, scented with oils and rose petals, the room filled with Arlise’s ladies bustling around, getting everything prepared for the big day ahead of them. With pointed politeness, all of the ladies silently agreed to step back and let Arlise’s twin sister, Jacquetta (also one of Arlise’s ladies), be the one to help the bride-to-be bathe.
With gentle, caressing hands, Jacquetta washed and bathed her sister, gently patted her dry, combed her hair so it was smooth and curling, and helped her dress into a simple gown for breakfast and private mass. “You’re going to be the most beautiful, blushing bride, you know.” Jacquetta’s lips were brushed against Arlise’s ear, the words whispered in the hushed tone the pair had always used together, with only the hint of an excited giggle behind them. Arlise’s eyes fluttered down, a gentle pink rising already in her cheeks at just the statement. “I only hope I don’t trip.” The pair stifled louder giggles as a knock rang off the wooden door.
Just then Lucy, the youngest of the Pevensie siblings, came into the room, followed by Taliya, Arlise’s handmaiden, who had a tray in each hand ——– one containing bread piled high, the other containing cheese, grapes, cherries, and strawberries. She would come back moments later with ale. “Time for your breakfast!” Lucy cheerfully announced, as her hands reached forward and grasped Arlise’s, giving them a gentle squeeze. “Just a simple breakfast, so all of our stomachs don’t rumble or feel upset until the feast tonight. Bread, cheese, fruit, and ale. And then we’ll head off to mass, before we all get ourselves ready.”
Arlise smiled ——– she liked Lucy, and was pleased that they would soon be sisters. And Lucy’s genuine happiness helped to soothe her looming anxieties about the bedding ceremony. Dutifully, Arlise reached for some bread, and pulled a piece off with her fingers, nibbling slowly on it. Once her stomach felt like it would hold food down, she added cheese to her nibbling, and then slowly added in the fruits and sipped at the ale that had arrived. Time passed by quickly, and before Arlise knew it she found herself leaving her chambers, going to their private mass. Arlise was so wrapped up in her whirlpool of thoughts that she barely heard a word of it, so much so that she didn’t realize the mass was over until she felt a gentle tugging on her sleeve when it was time to leave.
Once they arrived back at Arlise’s chambers, Taliya had laid Arlise’s dress out on the bed, smoothed to perfection, and was waiting to brush Arlise’s hair once again. Rayne, Susan, and Lucy’s ladies were all waiting in Arlise’s chambers to help with the dressing, and with quick fingers the three queen’s were dressed and prepared before Arlise even had her corset on - something Rayne kindly helped with. “This day will pass by quicker then you can imagine, I’m sure of it.”
Jacquetta brought the dress over, and together with Lucy pulled it over Arlise’s head and got her secured into it. Taliya brought over the shoes, and bent down to put them on Arlise’s feet. “Thank you Taliya, Jacquetta, Rayne, Lucy, Susan. I don’t know what I would do without all of you here today. I wouldn’t have a clue where to even begin.” Arlise desperately wanted to wipe her hands on her dress, to wipe the ever beading sweat off of them. Just the thought of Edmund feeling her sweaty hands mortified her.
Susan brought the veil and crown over, and gently placed them on Arlise’s head. “You’ll be a pro at it for the next wedding, just you want and see. After all, what is family for?” Susan’s voice sounded strong and secure, confident in Arlise’s future abilities within the family. “There. You’re all ready now.”
The women were all absorbed in the preparations so much that they didn’t hear the gentle squeak of the door open, or the gentle click of small feet coming into the room, nor did they see Meadow until her small voice floated to their ears. “Wow. You look so beautiful, Lis.” A smile lit up Arlise’s face as she took in her sister’s awe. “You look beautiful, too, Meadow. Come here.” Arlise stuck her arm out, waiting for her younger sister to come into her arms for a hug that was desperately needed by Arlise. “Do you want to walk with me to the cathedral? Or as long as they’ll let you?” Meadow’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Oh, I would love that very much.”
Together, hand in hand, with Arlise’s other hand tucked behind her back, securely holding onto Jacquetta’s hand, the three of them walked out of Arlise’s chambers, down the stone stairs, and out into the shining sun. It was a short walk to the neighboring cathedral, and the doors were already thrown open, waiting the arrive of the ladies.
The cathedral was filled with may lords, ladies, Narnians, and honored guests from ally countries, including the Naerion family from Telmar ——– the air was scented with incense, and ringing with the music of the choir. But suddenly, none of that mattered to Arlise because her and Edmund had locked eyes, and they kept their eyes locked for Arlise’s entire walk down the aisle. She walked alone, with Jacquetta, Meadow, Rayne, Susan, and Lucy following behind her.
The archbishop was waiting for the pair, his old face smiling down as Arlise and Edmund walked towards him to the chancel steps. Beside him stood Aslan, the great lion. The archbishop’s hands tremble slightly as he takes hold of Arlise’s hand and places it gently into Edmund’s warm grasp. And so the wedding ceremony passed.

The Humble Dry Fruit Tray: A Treasure Trove of Flavor and Versatility
Hey there, fellow snackers! Today, I want to talk about something that's not only delicious but also incredibly versatile and convenient – the Humble Dry fruit tray. You might be thinking, "Dry fruits? Puff, boring!" But trust me, this little treasure trove of goodness is anything but boring.
First things first, let's talk about what a dry fruit tray actually is. Essentially, it's a beautifully arranged assortment of various dried fruits, often presented in a fancy tray or box. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Why would I want a bunch of shriveled-up fruits?" Well, my friends, these aren't your average raisins or dried apricots. We're talking about a whole new level of flavor and texture.
Imagine biting into a succulent, chewy dried mango that bursts with tropical sweetness. Or savoring the rich, velvety texture of a perfectly dried date, with its caramel-like notes dancing on your tongue. And let's not forget the quintessential dried fruit – the humble raisin. But these aren't just any old raisins; they're plump, juicy, and bursting with concentrated grape flavor.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "But dried fruits are just, well, dried fruits, right?" Wrong! These little gems are packed with natural sweetness, making them a healthier alternative to sugary snacks. Plus, they're loaded with fiber, vitamins, and minerals, so you can indulge guilt-free.
But the real beauty of a dry fruit tray lies in its versatility. Imagine serving it at a fancy dinner party or a casual get-together with friends. It's the perfect accompaniment to cheese boards, charcuterie platters, or even a simple bowl of mixed nuts. Heck, you can even sprinkle them on your morning oatmeal or yogurt for a burst of natural sweetness and texture.
And let's not forget about the convenience factor. Dry fruit trays are the ultimate grab-and-go snack. Toss a few in your bag, and you've got a healthy, satisfying nibble to keep you fueled throughout the day. Plus, they have an incredibly long shelf life, so you can stock up and always have a stash on hand.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "But aren't dry fruit trays expensive?" Not necessarily! While you can certainly splurge on fancy, gourmet varieties, there are plenty of budget-friendly options out there too. Plus, when you consider how much you're getting for your money – a nutrient-dense, satisfying snack that can be enjoyed in countless ways – it's totally worth it.
So, what are you waiting for? Embrace the dry fruit tray in all its glory! Whether you're looking for a fancy party platter, a healthy snack option, or just a taste adventure, these little bundles of joy have got you covered. Trust me, once you've experienced the joy of a well-curated dry fruit tray, you'll never look at dried fruits the same way again.
