Drawing Inspiration: Yoshitomo Nara
Yoshitomo Nara is an Japanese artist whose work has been exhibited around the world. He lives and works in Tokyo.
His work is inspired by manga and anime of the 1960s as well as punk rock, Renaissance painting, traditional woodblock prints and graffiti. His work employs overt cuteness as a means to discover deeper more profound insights into human life and he often incorporates text into his work.
Here is a link to a video interview with the artist discussing his work.
