Here’s an awesome #nature #illustration by Sean Price (@artofprice) of a group of frogs climbing and perched on a curious looking tree… little do they know that the structure they believe to be a tree is actually a camouflaged serpent poised to strike! Entitled “False Home”, this piece is part of the Camouflage exhibition put on by @lightgreyartlab. You might be wondering how this group of frogs—which, interestingly enough, is called an “army”—would be fooled by the obvious tree snake. While the patterns do not necessarily match (though Sean did a really great job drawing the different patterns of snake scales, frog flesh, and tree bark), it could be that the frogs are not capable of discerning such contrasts in texture and only see particular color ranges, rendering the snake nearly invisible when poised motionless against the tree. The result of what the frogs “see” may be the reason for Sean’s interesting choice of coloring the tree and the snake the same color… besides the fact that it looks so great. Alternatively, those frogs may not care what predators are around. Perhaps the red color of their bodies is a warning to the snake that this is an army of poisonous frogs, and the snake should probably leave them alone if it wants to see another day. Regardless of the situation behind the drawing, Sean’s ability to shade and add depth to these animals and their environment with nothing but red and blue pencils is quite inspiring. I also enjoy how all of Sean’s artwork has a similar character to it, so that no matter what he is drawing, I have some feeling that it is his work. Case in point, the previous examples of Sean’s works that we shared of Sean’s was all architecturally and fantasy-art based, but as I was scrolling through my Instragram feed and saw this piece and had a gut feeling that it was, in face “Art of Price”. Great work, Sean! ::--🐸--🌳--:: #animaldrawing #pencildrawing #pencils #woodclinched #pencildrawings #Camouflage #snake #frogs #natureart #survivalofthefittest #poisondartfrog #tree #scienceiscool #texture #colors #animalplanet #planetearth #discovery #discoverychannel #hidden #lightgreyartlab #artofprice [Original Post: https://www.instagram.com/p/BXQ-2o3n5Lz/; Artist: @artofprice]

In this episode Brad and Myke are joined by Andy Welfle from Woodclinched.com to discuss pencils. No, we haven't gone off our rocker, we just want to learn! We discuss all things woodcase pencils, from materials, to lead grades, to some of Andy's current
This was so much fun. I loved talking pencils with these guys. I think I've been bitten by the podcasting bug.
