#1809 - Iphierga chrysopa
Surprisingly, black and white with a ginger wig is a pretty common colour scheme in some Australian moth families, so it’s taken me 6 years to get an ID on this one, that I found out at the Wongan Hills in 2016.
It’s a Case Moth, as opposed to a Fungus Moth (which had been my initial guess), and apart from it first being described by Turner in 1917, there’s Sweet Fanny Adams information on the species. It does seem to be limited to the SW of Australia, at least.

#1813 - Poliodule sp.
Poliodule melanotricha seems closest although the markings seems a little small and pale. But it’s not like there are many other options - there are only two other species described from the genus. There’s only 5 recorded sightings in ALA, but that’s probably not representative of their actual rarity.
I have no idea what they eat, but the subfamily Arctiinae (formerly its own family, now part of the Erebidae) have a wide diet including lichens, various poisonous plants, and a lot more.

Chelsea Basham – I Make My Own Sunshine
Chelsea Basham – I Make My Own Sunshine Call 1-855-637-4055 for our Psychic line as low as 66¢/min About Chelsea Basham: Chelsea Basham spent much of her childhood larking around with her two older brothers and working in her parent’s Retravision store in Wongan Hills, 182 kilometres north east of Perth, population about 1,400 and shrinking. The radio was never far away. She loved the sound of the new breed of Australian country artists. In February 2011 Chelsea cold-called producer Graham Thompson. She wanted to make an album and she wanted him to produce it. And in between the Basham / Meadows top and tail there are two other influential figures in the evolution of the album. One is Allyssa Bonagura, the writer of I Make My Own Sunshine, the first single and title track of the album. “I Make My Own Sunshine is a pivotal song on this record”, says Chelsea. “I stumbled across Allyssa singing it in the street one day and loved it straight away. I’m not sure if I realised it at the time but Sunshine set the theme for the whole album. It showed me how I could tell my story without being maudlin or self indulgent.”In fact, there are several songs on I Make My Own Sunshine about picking yourself up and getting on with it. lyrics: Ooh, ooh, ooh Everything is wonderful, everything is great Free as a bird, singing outside my window pane Got a fresh new start, it’s a brand new day And I got lots of love to give away It don’t matter if it’s raining Nothing can phase me I make my own sunshine And if you think you can break me Baby, you’re crazy I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine Hey, let’s make a rainbow, look for the pot of gold I’ll show you how to keep it nice and easy Even if a cloud starts forming on my lovely day There’s nothing, no nothing that could stand in my way It don’t matter if it’s raining Nothing can phase me I make my own sunshine And if you think you can break me Baby, you’re crazy I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine It don’t matter if it’s raining Nothing can phase me I make my own sunshine And if you think you can break me Baby, you’re crazy I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine Ooh, ooh, ooh I make my own sunshine Click here to return to positive music list Read the full article
