I remember witnessing @VenusWilliams win her first @Wimbledon in 2000; that's when I knew I wanted to play because she was so exciting and joyous to watch on court. Eventually, I grew to root for younger sister @SerenaWilliams as the flashy entertaining underdog. My love and appreciation for Venus never wavered and with each tournament entered, she remained my #1 and favorite of All-Time. Why is gender always brought up in an argument when a woman is involved? Surely the rules are the rules and they must be followed by all - regardless of gender. Where there three clear violations? Yes. Could gender have affected the violations? No. I personally think Serena was out of line and has brought up gender as a smart PR way to try and 'cover up' her glaring errors/comments/behaviour during the US Open final. This is not how a role mode should behave, even if they have been wronged. Also, on a side note, how sad that this is how Naomi Osaka won her first grand slam? Not going to look back on this with the fondest of memories. Hopefully this is only the first of many for Naomi. T H E S I S T E R H O O D O F Q U E E N S

In the midst of my social media "hiatus" of sorts, I really felt compelled to share the following three posts that really resonated with me on multiple levels.... & I wanted to start with the legendary Serena Williams

I wanted @serenawilliams to take U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP SOOO BAD.... It would've been her 24th Grand Slam breaking the current record.... It would have been her first Championship since giving birth to her daughter.... & IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE STATEMENT.... professionally & socially if she had won

Instead, she had to make a different statement that spoke to gender equality, sportsmanship & grace

Honestly, the highlights from this match were extremely hard to watch. I had to see arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time (male or female) defend herself against accustations of cheating by the chair umpire & become mentally broken down after that same umpire took away crucial points from Serena in way that (as Williams vehemently argued with officials on the court) would never be done to her male counterparts. It was a beyond bizarre occurrence that tainted an otherwise exciting match that was eventually won by the upcoming Japanese-Haitian phenom @naomiosakatennis

Fans weren't too pleased with what had happened & unfortunately Ms. Osaka was almost robbed of her moment when the crowd resorted to resounding boos in the championship ceremony. Fortunately, even in spite of her own anguish, Serena remained a class act & living legend when she not only comforted Osaka but also encouraged the crowd to give the new 20 year old US OPEN CHAMP her moment & show her some well deserved congratulations

In a recent timeline that included the story of two of hip-hop's biggest female rappers resorting to near physical altercation at a high profile event to deal with their issues, it's beautiful to see two powerful and extremely gifted women support each other in the midst of high stress situations
