UCONN had just won the Big East Championship and was having a post-game get-together at the shared apartment of KK and Westly. Westly was a sports medicine student, so she knew all of the girls on the team. Westly was currently sitting in between the legs of Nika as some of the girls played uno.

"Boy you know you cheated" Paige yelled slamming her cards on the table and laughing. "You just mad you lost" KK laughed running around the apartment causing the rest of the girls to laugh. Nika wrapped small pieces of Westly's curl around her finger and let them bounce.

"Having fun?" Westly looked up at her smiling. "You're so pretty" Nika responded looking over her features. Westly hid her blush and looked back at the girls. "Are you lovebirds going to come play now" Azzi spoke smiling looking at the two.

Westly flipped off the girl and stood up walking to the kitchen. After working their game and all the fun they were having Westly was extremely tired. She expected most of the girls to be spending the night, so she laid out blankets and pillows for them to fight over.

"Thanks, mom" Ice smiled at the girl from where she was sitting. "You're so welcome don't tell your siblings but your my favorite" Westly spoke loud enough for Paige, Azzi, and Nika to hear.

"Wow! My mom hates me" Paige exaggerated pretending to faint on Azzi. "Goodnight children" Westly hugged everyone purposely leaving out Nika and walking to her room.

Westly was out of the shower and walked out of her room seeing Nika lying on her stomach with her eyes closed. Westly walked over to the girl to see if she was asleep. "Go shower" She pulled Nika to sit up. "Don't go to sleep without me" Nika told her walking to the bathroom with some of Westly's clothes.

Westly accidentally fell asleep, but woke up as soon as she felt Nika slide under her. "I told you not to go to sleep" Nika frowned. "I'm sorry" Westly turned around so she could face Nika. Nika rested her head against Westly's shoulder and wrapped her right arm around her waist.

Westly placed her finger under Nika's chin and pulled it up so she could look at her eyes. Nika hummed asking what was wrong. Westly connected their lips slowly moving them. Nika gripped her waist pulling her closer.

Eventually, they pulled apart going back to their cuddling position and falling asleep to the laughter of the rest of the girls in the living room.

"I have to go" Nika gently woke up Westly letting her know she had to leave for team breakfast. Westly nodded leaning up for a kiss. Nika blushed giving her a gentle kiss. "I'll see you later" She kissed Westly on the forehead and closed the bedroom door behind her.

"Look who it is" Paige teased stretching her arms. "Shut up"

"So do you like her?" Azzi asked the question everyone was thinking. Nika nodded blushing. "She likes you to trust" KK spoke smiling at the girl in front of her. "We were all waiting for you two to finally notice your feelings for each other" Aaliyah shrugged.

"What?"

"You can see it in the way you guys look at each other"

"Last night you two couldn't keep your hands off each other"

"The next great love story"

tbh i think the reason why hockey rpf is so popular in spaces like tumblr is because it's one of the few major team sports where there aren't a lot of black people involved. maybe that's not an entirely fair assessment but i'm just spitballin here

Anyone would have sold their soul to be (Y/n) (L/n) in 2020, but she wanted to be someone else.

Her senior year of high school, (Y/n) led her team to their first State Championship in over a decade. The whistle blew at the end of double overtime, and she walked off the court with a triple-double, along with her career-high of 41 points. 

But looking at the scoreboard, she was two points behind, one shot behind, and in second place. 

(Y/n) wouldn’t settle for less than first place in anything. It's not that she was competitive, just that she had so much to prove, that which came second hand with always getting first place.

The day after their loss, she was listed behind Paige Bueckers in second place among the class of 2020 high school recruits. 

Never in her life had she envied one person as she did in that moment.
