illario as the grandchild that is most like caterina is something i'm loving to chew on. the grandson that took her lessons to heart the most. kill anyone who sees your face and knows your name, "we are not revolutionaries", the first out of the two to prioritise the contract. power at any cost, and the only one to lean into the unnecessary abuse that their grandmother told them was tradition. why is anyone surprised he allied with the venatori? and then there's illario's considerable skill in infiltration and manipulating any mark, he has always had the charisma that lucanis lacked. illario isn't attached, he has/can/will use someone and immediately drop them; "that does free me from promises i don't intend to keep". he can lie about how much he cares so well that he fools a magister into believing he loves her. he kills zara without hesitation to cover his own tracks, meanwhile lucanis blindly promises a young girl in the middle of a siege that he will help her find her father. even the lessons about family stick with him, and in this entire messy power struggle, he never actually orders anyone to directly kill caterina or lucanis, not until he's backed into a corner.
and even after all that. despite even lucanis believing illario should be first talon, lucanis is still the better killer. illario is not strong enough to be the brutal assassin caterina needs him to be. so when lucanis seems to fill the role his mother left, grief and love for her dead heir apparent remains, and any of the other qualities caterina needs in her next talon doesn't matter. whatever his mother was, lucanis has to be. what illario does doesn't matter, because he will always be second best to caterina's memory of her favored daughter.

I think we as a fandom deserve at least a snippet of Xaden's POV from Iron Flame when he finds out that Violet is being tortured by Varrish.

Honestly? If you allow me to clock tea for a moment? I think Kanera is what we all think Anidala is, but it isn't.

Sokka: Wait. If Zuko is actually a Fire Nation prince, and Iroh wrote Suki into the family registry as his sister... am I marrying into Fire Nation royalty?
Zuko: Yep.
Suki: Pretty sure.
Sokka: ...okay wait, hang on. Am I a Fire Nation prince?
Zuko: Yeah, pretty sure that's how it works.
Sokka: ....excuse me. I have to go get Katara to call me Prince Sokka.
Suki, after Sokka runs off: So, you think she'll do it?
Zuko: No chance.

I just don't understand why bosses play in your face.
Top boss of my store is on vacation. He sent directions to do a certain amount of inventory auditing every day. I made a plan.
Second top boss was in today and blew up my plan.
Then she tells me 'you should look at the week's schedule for everyone and try to make a plan based on that.'
After she blew up my attempt at a plan.
I just like, looked at her. Because all I could think was 'we live in such different versions of this store'.

Definitely had one of those "being a woman in medical leadership" moments yesterday where I was called out for being too direct and aggressive for writing a pretty dispassionate email where I essentially said I wasn't going to cover for mistakes that my leadership made. Cherry on top was that this feedback was from a woman, who didn't have the balls to deliver it to me directly and instead had another woman serve as the go-between, because she felt like she was called out by me.
So I spent all of therapy today just ranting about my leadership and the lack of support that I feel from them and how I can't actually trust those people or be open with them about my feelings at work. That was a swift kick to the gut yesterday.
But I'm sure if I was a man I would have been told that I was being assertive and practicing good leadership skills.

I'm taking a class on leadership and had to do a discussion post on what leadership is by sharing a picture of something I thought encapsulated leadership.
I chose this picture:
Tumblr media
I chose this for many reasons. One, for the backstory shared on the website, which you can find here.
This woman is Zazu Nova, a Trans woman and activist who may have thrown the first brick at the stonewall uprising in 1969. In this picture, she's sitting on a table at a Gay Liberation Front meeting. She was also one of the founders for the New York Gay Youth organization.
This alone makes her an amazing leader and is partially why I chose this picture specifically.
The other reason I chose this picture is for the composition itself. I won't pretend to know what she was feeling then, or what was going on in that meeting. But to me, she sits alone among her peers, but she faces the camera with a sort of tired determination in her eyes, something that I can relate to heavily right now.
This woman, who lived through a time where she wasn't accepted, was unapologetically herself and decided to do something about it. Was proud of herself and lived her own personal truth. And she, and others who participated in the stonewall uprising paved the way for modern gay and trans rights and activism.
She is the type of person I look up to and the type of person I long to be for myself and others. She's inspiring me to keep on keeping on in these trying ass times.
That, I think, is what a leader is supposed to be. Someone who is unapologetically themselves, and because of that, they bring about change and inspire other people to be who they are.
I hope that all my LGBTQIA+ siblings can remember and be inspired by those who came before us and fought for our rights. I hope that in these trying times, we can stand strong like they did so that we may keep these rights in the coming days and years.

just read this email from my boss and it’s like bitch do you think WE haven’t notice the spike in behaviour issues? Do you think we’re going to read this and be like oh shit yeah maybe we should like. Actually give consequences for bad behaviour huh, I didn’t think of that.
Did you consider that the spike in behaviour is because it’s the end of the year and getting hot and the kids are exhausted and also every single one of the teachers is exhausted because every single team has been a teacher down for at least a week and we’re all teaching a class and a half so even though we’re doing our fucking best, we can’t keep up?
and then it’s followed by some stuff for us to “action by the end of today” and the stuff to action is literally just “print off the behaviour consequence flowchart and remember to implement consequences :)”

this is not very feminist of me to say but that argument about "ummm what if the Woman President is on her period and randomly declares war 🧐🧐🧐" is actually so real. if I could have someone's head cut off rn I would do it with zero hesitation
