illario as the grandchild that is most like caterina is something i'm loving to chew on. the grandson that took her lessons to heart the most. kill anyone who sees your face and knows your name, "we are not revolutionaries", the first out of the two to prioritise the contract. power at any cost, and the only one to lean into the unnecessary abuse that their grandmother told them was tradition. why is anyone surprised he allied with the venatori? and then there's illario's considerable skill in infiltration and manipulating any mark, he has always had the charisma that lucanis lacked. illario isn't attached, he has/can/will use someone and immediately drop them; "that does free me from promises i don't intend to keep". he can lie about how much he cares so well that he fools a magister into believing he loves her. he kills zara without hesitation to cover his own tracks, meanwhile lucanis blindly promises a young girl in the middle of a siege that he will help her find her father. even the lessons about family stick with him, and in this entire messy power struggle, he never actually orders anyone to directly kill caterina or lucanis, not until he's backed into a corner.
and even after all that. despite even lucanis believing illario should be first talon, lucanis is still the better killer. illario is not strong enough to be the brutal assassin caterina needs him to be. so when lucanis seems to fill the role his mother left, grief and love for her dead heir apparent remains, and any of the other qualities caterina needs in her next talon doesn't matter. whatever his mother was, lucanis has to be. what illario does doesn't matter, because he will always be second best to caterina's memory of her favored daughter.
#<- guy who's only seen succession: this is just like shiv and logan#last point is kind of meta and hcish. idk how much caterina cared about her children and lucanis' mother. grain of salt everyone#but it would make sense to me. woman projecting her grief so hard it fucks up the next generation#at the end of the day realistically the best person to lead this criminal organisation is the sweet talker with no morals#who can rally their assassins and negotiate his way out of anything#not lucanis 'this crow has a heart' dellamorte. who i think would also be a fairer leader but#well. his leadership style would take a decidedly different turn. is that something he can afford as first talon??? like you know.#THE ASSASSIN GUILD? WITH THE VERY BLEAK HISTORY? 'WE'RE NOT HEROES ANYWHERE COUSIN' ?????#LED BY LUCANIS 'would rather endanger the mission than kill innocents' DELLAMORTE !!!!?#i would be less weird about it if the game acknowledged he's a 'kind' crow more explicitly and like#how this would change the crows. but realistically. and biasedly. i think illario makes a better (more morally grey too) talon#and also zevran should be here#anyways. im normal.#illario dellamorte#caterina dellamorte#lucanis dellamorte#dragon age#veilguard spoilers#dav spoilers#dav#edit: NOTE I AM SAYING ILLARIO MAKES. A BETTER TALON AND NOT A GOOD ONE#his number one dickriding glazer but i would not go that far. sorry babe.

I think we as a fandom deserve at least a snippet of Xaden's POV from Iron Flame when he finds out that Violet is being tortured by Varrish.

#I also think american exceptionalism and their bizarre cultural one-way street isolation plays a role#i think it's different if you actually see other countries as equals and see that they have female leaders and realise that it's#not going downhill it's not solving everything it's business as usual and it's just another boring fucking politician#and this makes the gender of the candidate LESS (not saying no) issue people obsess about or feel a need to discuss#(e.g. people laying into the appearance of female politicians? certainly misogyny. making jokes about cooking and shoes? definitely too#but I feel like that was more a 'gotta insult these fucking politicians' and gender being one of the targets when people want to do that)#but if you're the US and giant parts of the populace think they're the specialmost extra complicatedest country in this our planetworld#the fact that it works for so many other countries takes a much lower priority#because 'yeah sure a woman can govern a....'checks notes' Fineland and United Kingdom of England or Germanland'#but the US of freedom? we got a red button and what if she's on her period!!?! We are a REAL country!!'#not to mention how deeply entrenched the idea of the US as being CONSTANTLY under attack is and the president as the PROTECTOR#and that protector needs to be daddy of course#i also think the different attitude to leaders plays a role#because a part of misogyny is how much people love to HATE women - to sink their teeth into them and demonise them for every flaw#so any country that has some kind of weird worship of their leaders or sees them as some heroes or extra-class of person*#in my opinion might have a harder time to elect a woman because the moment a woman becomes a candidate#you just have to find the right flaw to go on and on about to make the population absolutely hate her or question her competency#meanwhile the general slack we cut men means they can do whatever but somehow still be compatible with that concept of leadership#(*not just the US ....though a lot of other countries with similar attitudes to their leaders are not standing out as democracies tbh)

it really does seem like a lot of y'all don't want to dismantle the patriarchy so much as expand the definition of man.
and i'm sympathetic to "anyone can be a man" i really am (i am sort of man adjacent on occasion myself) but that's a personal goal not a liberatory one!!
"a woman can be a man if she wants" well what if she doesn't want? what if she would like to be a woman and only a woman AND receive equal rights? what if she would like to be a woman and not have her womanhood considered lesser by society? what if womanhood itself and everything associated wasn't considered definitionally inferior???? what if!
this goes double for trans women who might, i dunno, have a vested and emotional interest in not being considered a type of man. and perhaps might want to celebrate their hard-earned womanhood.
#i'm just feeling frustrated with the lack of basic feminist sentiment these days#k.txt#feminism#to be clear in this post i'm not talking abt the trans desire of 'anyone can be a man' at least not entirely#but more the desire to just expand the oppressive class as a solution instead of dismantling it#the way i've seen that regular people believe '''masculine''' ideals like stoicism & 'leadership' (whatever that means) & protectiveness#& risk-taking & strength are just better than '''feminine''' virtues DOES bleed over into a lot of ppl's minds + activism#to be blunt a lot of people want to be invited to the boys club more than they want the boys club destroyed#and a lot of ppl think the way to power for women is to emulate men and masculinity. well what if a woman doesn't want to do that?#what if a woman doesn't WANT to be 'one of the guys'????

Sokka: Wait. If Zuko is actually a Fire Nation prince, and Iroh wrote Suki into the family registry as his sister... am I marrying into Fire Nation royalty?
Zuko: Yep.
Suki: Pretty sure.
Sokka: ...okay wait, hang on. Am I a Fire Nation prince?
Zuko: Yeah, pretty sure that's how it works.
Sokka: ....excuse me. I have to go get Katara to call me Prince Sokka.
Suki, after Sokka runs off: So, you think she'll do it?
Zuko: No chance.
#kyoshi twins au#suki voice: i'm sure glad I passed the leadership of the Kyoshi Warriors to my right hand woman#'or I'd be having some serious debates about the ethical ramifications of a princess of the Fire Nation leading the Kyoshi Warriors'

Definitely had one of those "being a woman in medical leadership" moments yesterday where I was called out for being too direct and aggressive for writing a pretty dispassionate email where I essentially said I wasn't going to cover for mistakes that my leadership made. Cherry on top was that this feedback was from a woman, who didn't have the balls to deliver it to me directly and instead had another woman serve as the go-between, because she felt like she was called out by me.
So I spent all of therapy today just ranting about my leadership and the lack of support that I feel from them and how I can't actually trust those people or be open with them about my feelings at work. That was a swift kick to the gut yesterday.
But I'm sure if I was a man I would have been told that I was being assertive and practicing good leadership skills.
#leadership as a woman#leading while woman#so much for women building other women up#supportive leadership yeah right#kind of want to burn it all down#women in medicine#women in leadership

just read this email from my boss and it’s like bitch do you think WE haven’t notice the spike in behaviour issues? Do you think we’re going to read this and be like oh shit yeah maybe we should like. Actually give consequences for bad behaviour huh, I didn’t think of that.
Did you consider that the spike in behaviour is because it’s the end of the year and getting hot and the kids are exhausted and also every single one of the teachers is exhausted because every single team has been a teacher down for at least a week and we’re all teaching a class and a half so even though we’re doing our fucking best, we can’t keep up?
and then it’s followed by some stuff for us to “action by the end of today” and the stuff to action is literally just “print off the behaviour consequence flowchart and remember to implement consequences :)”
#fuck offfff#also bitch the most inconsistent thing about our consequences is YOU#when we call leadership it’s because they’ve escalated beyond us#and our consequences#and who knows what tf happens then#this woman can fuck off im so over her bullshit

this is not very feminist of me to say but that argument about "ummm what if the Woman President is on her period and randomly declares war 🧐🧐🧐" is actually so real. if I could have someone's head cut off rn I would do it with zero hesitation
#catch me slamming that Nuclear War button as the Woman President the day i start my period#maybe i am just not suited very well for leadership#noooo that's not it#rayrambles

so bangladesh's policing system is broken and by broken i mean the public set fire to a few police stations on the day hasina fled and no cops have come to work since. literally all of them are in hiding. basically the students amd neighborhood youth have stepped up to control traffic and set up nightly watches to get rid of robbers and protect minority religious institutions etc. which. mixed feelings. first of all it's great to see that a police free society is possible. we're literally doing it right now!! but at the same time, there's no accountability anywhere to be seen. like. people have been keeping eachother in check for the most part. but "robbers" have rights to and thats almost totally forfeit. most of the times, rhe stolen goods are returned, and robbers publicly humiliated is all. i cant say im against this because these robbers are most of the time backed by bnp or jamat, so they're let go. but there is no due process. what I want to say is basically i can totally see a system without cops is possible, but a system is also necessary. the interrim government doesn't have any plans to abolish cops tho and the cops will probably return eventually. but someday. hopefully. someday a police-less society will be possible
#jou.exe#dont wanna be bd ambassador on here. but someone else should definitely share some of the way students are dressing up to control traffic#the guy in the cat mascot suit. the hijabi woman with the plastic femur. the students who made the men without helmets help control traffic#coquette league graffities and the madrasa students standing guard in front of temples#oh and the subway surfer level chasing robbers#there's people targeting vulnerable groups like the Hindus and indigenous. but there's a lot of people working hard to protect them too#and all without any centralised leadership. just people coming together and organising on Facebook and whatsapp

Weird thought but. It’s twice that Ridley has found himself serving under a more powerful woman. Generally speaking, he’s successfully handled the men in his life; Opponents such as Grey Voice, for example. But it’s the women who tend to put him in his place, even his clone was taken down by a Queen Metroid! His most consistent rival, the one who always defeats him, is Samus. Ridley has never ceded command of the Space Pirates to a dude, but to Mother Brain? Dark Samus? Absolutely.
What I’m saying is, Ridley drinks Respecc Women juice, with Samus being his only exception. If he were a sexist, he’d probably skew towards misandry.
#This does remind me of that unfinished Ridley origin fic I wrote where his first friend and one of the most formative influences in his life#was a stronger woman he looked up to for combat prowess and leadership#metroid#ridley
