WolfShifters!GhostSoap AU

Different kinds of wolves. Based on cycles of the moon (not actually, it's just how they've been classified)

The most common is New Moon wolves: larger than Waning Wolves, have very disproportionate paws that are almost hand like yet still very paw like. Mild mannered, docile, tend to be very nurturing, form strong pack bonds with other wolves, will pack bond with people but those bonds aren't as strong.

Next are Waning Moon wolves: Smallest of the wolves. Look like large, slightly disproportionate real wolves. More unpredictable in nature than their counterparts, the New Moon wolves. They're stronger, form the strongest pack bonds with anyone, humans and wolves alike. Loyal to a fault. Most common to find in the military: definitely used and manipulated. Bullied by Full Moon and Waxing Moon wolves

Then Full Moon wolves: look like a lot of the hunchback humanoid wolves you see in movies. These guys are the most unpredictable, almost feral in nature. Very animal like when shifted. Aggressive towards Waning Moon wolves during breeding seasons. Have been known to kill Waning Wolves during these seasons. Form pack bonds with other wolves, mostly Full and New moon, rarely pack bond with Waning. Do not pack bond with humans.

Finally Waxing Moon wolves: massive creatures, very wolf like but with dexterous front paws. They're the most aggressive, usually. Rarely form pack bonds with humans, will pack bond with any wolf that will associate with them, only forms strong bonds with mates. Very intelligent and also the strongest of the wolves. Can be bullies, not as bad about it as their Full Moon counterparts.

Waning Wolves are relatively common in the military, but become harder to come by at the level the 141 operates at. This is because the government views them as a liability. Full Moon wolves and Waxing wolves normally cannot reach certain positions/ranks.

Ghost is a Waning wolf, Soap is Waxing.

Soap's abilities impressed higher ranking officers so much he was given special permission to join SAS and make Sergeant. It's probably as far as he'll be able to go.

They met several years prior to the events I'm thinking of, and got along really well. Ghost was impressed by Soap, especially since finding another wolf at their level was difficult, and they ended up hanging out/speaking outside of work. Soap integrated into Simon's small family pack

They are mated, and they got married but keep it quiet due to fear of that information being used and manipulated

Soap absolutely makes Small Dog syndrome jokes to Ghost due to the size difference in their wolf forms. Ghost kicks his ass every time. It's their weird way of flirting/courting. They are mentally unwell and I love them

Gaz is a certified Wolf Behavior Analyst. The only way Ghost was allowed to keep moving up was that he was always assigned with a Behavior Analyst after the events of Roba. Gaz is the newest one and they get along great. Price got permission to form his own task force with the two of them. He's looking into recruiting a new member.

He has an opportunity to recruit Soap but they're required one mission together, not allowed alone in a room together, and must be monitored at all times by Gaz (Behavior Analyst), due to Ghost being Waning and Soap being Waxing

Idk anything else right now except some shenanigans where GhostSoap secretly agree to mess with Price and Gaz, mostly Gaz.

Gaz catching them one time in shifted forms and just by watching their body language he realizes something. He's borderline traumatized lol

I have nothing else currently for this, it's just something I might work on as like a fun project

Thank you for the ask, my friend! Now that you have summoned every thought, here is a dump of the wolfshifter au!!!

So, for starters: The MacTavish family and their history of caring for wolfshifters. Since the discovery of wolfshifters about a century ago, there's been a huge stigma against them in the broad scope of modern society. Something about them never really being "human" and are typically reduced to nothing but savage beasts. But Scotland, having a high focus on herding, accepts the wolfshifter population the best. They're not exactly buddy buddy with them, but most wolfshifters find easy work doing stuff for farmers and whatnot. Granted, most of their jobs are like "guard dog" sorts of jobs, but hey, in a world where it's really common for wolves to be fired, refused a job, evicted, etc. just for being a wolf, work is work.

Then came along Great-great Grandma MacTavish. Something happened with her husband and somehow, a wolfshifter was the one to provide the best support for the young family during their difficult times. She ends up convincing her husband to start a business; basically a support/help center for wolfshifters in need. They provide basic medical care, food, clothing, shelter, etc.

Skip to modern day and Soap's family is still very heavily supporting this 'little' business. It's grown a significant amount, obviously, and it's the largest of a handful of wolfshifter care centers in the country, all others younger and operating independently. Soap's parents still run the "soup kitchen" that provide homemade Scottish meals to any and all wolves, no questions asked. Soap's eldest brother and wife are in charge of the medical facility that provides care for both human and wolf form. The brother (Oliver) and his wife run the "human" department specifically, and one of the two MacTavish sisters (Sarah) is in charge of the "wolf" department. Tiffany, the second MacTavish sister is in charge of the housing for displaced wolfshifters.

Side note about wolfshifters in this AU: they all are required to wear identifying tags/have ID chips for what's considered "safety" purposes. Ghost, being the legally dead menace to society he is, no longer wears his ID tags/dogtags (military ones), and because of Roba, his chip had been forcibly removed so he could never be identified; he'd just die a nobody.

Then we got Simon Riley. His father, being the absolute abomination he is, never knew his wife was a wolfshifter until after they have kids. Simon got the brunt of his abuse for being a wolf, and he eventually just became so numb to the abuse he gets from everyone that he eventually stops transforming. So much to the point that Price is not aware of his shifter status, but he's definitely suspicious.

But not as suspicious as Soap. Soap grew up around wolfshifters, and he knows there are certain behaviors and whatnot that are noticeable even in human form. He picks up on a few, albeit very subtle, behavioral traits from Ghost that just scream "wolf" to him, but he knows not to approach him about it. He grew up around wolves that had nowhere to go, no one to go to, traumatized and broken regarding their true nature. Ghost is like a poster child for it, so Soap keeps his distance from that topic.

They still end up having a very unique relationship, but it's not established when Ghost goes missing during a solo mission. Their intel was wrong or something else of the sort and he ended up getting captured.

The problem? They're a group trying to weaponize wolfshifters by forcing them to remain in wolf form. There's a special drug that was supposedly lost/abandoned that can induce transformations in wolfshifters. This group has mutated it to the point that wolves cannot physically transform back into human for several months at a time with only one injection of an amount that's in ratio with body weight and stuff.

ANYWHO

Ghost ends up stuck in wolf-form, he's injured, and he has no clue where he is. Turns out, he's stranded in what's considered the world's "safehaven" for wolfshifters all because of the MacTavish family.

Soap's siblings end up having to take him in, obviously not knowing who he is because he has no IDs or anything.

Basically just a really fluffy and angsty story about Ghost finding family with the MacTavish's and Soap just having absolutely world-destroying realizations of his love for Simon Riley. Ghost being soft with the young nieces and nephews, being fiercely protective of his new found-family

Yeah, I clearly haven't thought about this AU at all. Nope. Not a thought going towards it

I know, so great. First chapter might suck, but I want to get something out in the next day or two. I feel guilty though, cause I did promise something like 2 weeks ago now.

So, because I feel the need to bless y'all with something, take a song I wrote. It wasn't originally intended for this particular AU, much less ship (and fandom) but it works really well. Written with intent to be a country song, but like not. I dunno, anyways, enjoy it!

Looking back at it, it's like a mix of both of them addressing the other and I think that's really neat. I dunno, maybe if someone asks nicely I'll attempt at singing it

Gaz continued on with his life completely alone, and upon finding out Soap was never dead, he cracks.)

Very real and very much a part of everyday life.The 141 is a small, private group composed of researchers and other cryptid enthusiasts that specialize in monitoring the inhuman populations around the UK. They offer their knowledge and resources to assist those dealing with issues regarding those that aren’t human. It isn’t uncommon for the 141 to help get rid of a goblin infestation, or relocate a fae circle to one of the designated areas. And life is pretty normal for the small team. 🧥 i really wanted to write something but I absolutely struggled to focus on something

So I'm going to provide an idea i want to use for His Wounded Cry (the wolfshifter!Ghost au where he's recovering from some injuries while trapped in wolf form with the MacTavish family): the idea itself is him hanging out basically babysitting the niblings

🍎 I am definitely such a sucker for Simon/Ghost and Gaz friendship. It's such an interesting dynamic especially if you throw in Soap and Gaz being like brothers and SoapGhost. Gaz being protective and loyal to his brother from another mother, but also seeing that Simon is really good to/for Soap. Definitely can't wait to divulge in some Simon and Gaz interactions in Of Earthly Things
