                   The 68th annual Dertosa Gala

Dressing up wasn’t exactly your idea of a fun time, but there would hardly be a better time to bust out those ruby and diamond cufflinks, or that scarlet vest. Going together with Nightshade and Wolfsbane, you felt like a king almost — it felt oddly right but oddly wrong. Sure, you Poisons were there for security but they never said you couldn’t enjoy yourselves. Who knew what was going to happen, but you hoped it’d be something exciting.

Besides, what fun is a party if there isn’t some excitement?

Allie had her own room in the warehouse, of course, but the weapons shop was one of her favorite places to lurk, whether it was occupied or not.  The organized chaos of the tools, parts, and racks mixed with the familiar smells of burnt metal and sawdust; there was a familiar comfort to it all.  Sure, it wasn’t the coziest of the rooms in the oversized building, but it had it’s own personality, and on top of that, it was closest to the server room which meant her connection was fastest in there.

The room was indeed occupied as Allie twirled in with a laptop in tow, Bruno Mars blaring through her oversized headphones.  Bane sat on his lone stool, hunched over the bench as usual with his back to her.  She mouthed the lyrics silently, heading straight for the black toolbox in the far corner of the room.  She was certain she’d stowed away snacks in there a couple weeks ago-- and when she lifted the lid she was rewarded with a bag of Skittles.

Retrieving her prize, she returned back to the central bench, hopping up onto it directly across from Bane who had yet to acknowledge her, despite now being at eye level with her.  Crossing her legs, she tugged the headphones off her head and opened the computer on her lap.  The bag of candy came next, scooping out a small handful. 

“Whatcha working on?” She asked before shoving the candy into her mouth.  She was intelligent enough to use her eyes to determine the answer, but she wasn’t in the mood to work in comfortable silence today.  She pulled a couple more Skittles out of the bag and held them up, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively and tossed one directly at him.  “Want help?”

“Funnily enough, my cat who, yes, has the name Kitty.  I didn’t have him last year, and now I have another little baby to take care of and someone to cuddle at night.  Cats are awesome, and I’ve always felt like I genuinely was one in a past life.”
