Welp, this is a shock.
Katarina Wolfkostin has a new partner - Dmitry Tsarevski.
For those who don't know/remember, Dmitry was paired with Isabella Flores until in December 2021, he basically disappeared to the point where she called the police to do a welfare check because neither she nor their coaches could get ahold of him. She's now paired with Ivan Desyatov, whom she competed with last season, and who I don't think has been released from Belarus yet.
So, he's okay, apparently? New Instagram account and everything. Wish them both the best, of course. It's just weird and shocking is all.

When you say SKAM are you talking about Skate America? I went on their page and their full U.S lineup is out and for the ice dance section only two pairs are listed. It says lineups are subject to change and TBD after their names so I’m a bit confused. Is that just like the first people who were announced and more will be announced?
Yes! Chock and N/M were assigned Skate America (SKAM) and because the US is the host country, they get an extra spot. Given that the rest of Team USA senior ice dance teams have been assigned 2 Grand Prix competitions already, this spot can be given to anyone, including BV and Morozov/Chen. Wolfkostin/Tsarevski (Dima) are competing junior this season so they are not in contention.
🕯️BELLA VANYA SKAM 🕯️

did you hear the rumor that wolfkostin/tsarevski are going back to junior? if this is true, will Skam be decided between morozev/chen and bella/vanya?
Yes, I did hear that. This way they get more opportunities, like junior grand prixs. And if they do really well then that opens up a lot more doors for them when they go back to seniors. It could actually be a really good move, especially considering how packed US senior ice dance is right now.
Apparently it'll now be between Morozev/Chen, Pham/Spiridonov and Bella&Vanya. But those first two are brand new teams so we'll see! A lot's riding on Lake Placid at the end of this month.

Wolfkostin/Tsarevski doing a split junior/senior season - they have JGPF Dec 5-8. i wonder why they’re training and competing a senior RD so close instead of focusing on junior. can you compete senior Nats and still be sent to Junior Worlds

JGP Czech Skate FD-
it's been said a lot, but Mark really does strike the perfect supportive tone while still being full of useful and discerning commentary. saw some creative programs, positions, ideas you don't see in seniors, and cuteness like this
Vaclavikova/Morozov were so graceful and mature in their presentation for 14/17 yo - they train in Egna at Young Goose:
youtube
unrelated to them, noticed one trend trickling down from seniors - teams standing still and making interlocking geometric shapes with their arms to the beat -- teams like T/V have done this beautifully, but it can look kind of pretzeled and puzzling if it never appears in the choreo again. speaking of seniors influencing the field-
Fradji/Fourneaux doing a curve lift entering from the opposite curve like Piper and Paul's Wuthering Heights. their twizzles were great. a different music cut for an Exogenesis program
omg Wolfkostin/Tsarevski - the last moment fall invalidating the ChSt oof but i like them. they skate with some power and speed and have a nice connection. they look quite a lot stronger than they did 6 weeks ago. the points they lost on the twizzles yesterday and the ChSt today wouldn't have changed their ranking here. i'm trying to think if it's a MIDA-wide issue, but Dimitry's costume makes him look like a waiter or a riverboat card dealer. and their RD costumes are a color clash 😩
but 19 teams in this field! last season's JGP's averaged around 13-14 teams, one had only 11. this season, RIga had 15, but all the others so far have 19-21 teams entered - that's amazing
#there are more dance schools in europe now?#japan has more teams#i love that there are more schools and choreographers#who have their own styles#Youtube
