I used real #wolffur to #felt this #character to see if #wolf fur felts just as well as dog fur. Plus, I used brindle buffalo wool to make him as well. i feel like u can never trust author statements esp when they try to retcon since so many ppl are involved in writing these books lol like the statement might not even be coming from the author that wrote that specific book or chapter

The Yin Shu [native Siberian mythology; Chinese mythology]

In the distant past, the native Siberian people occasionally found petrified mammoth bones and tusks, long before paleontologists knew what mammoths are and how long ago they lived. They figured the giant underground skeletons with huge tusks must have belonged to colossal creatures that dug tunnels underground. These creatures were thought to shatter riverbanks while digging their way through the rock and soil. It was also thought that, when these creatures breached the surface and came into contact with air, they would immediately die.

These mythical monsters were incredibly strong and could dig through rock-hard frozen ground.

I do not know how the native Siberian people called these creatures, and I failed to find a source that does, but the idea of mammoth bones being the remains of huge burrowing monsters eventually made its way to China. The ancient Chinese people referred to these beings as “Yin Shu” which translates to “hidden rodent”, which brings a mental image of huge, mole-like rodents with large tusks.

The bones and remains of these creatures (which, in actuality, were mammoth bones of course) were a rare commodity and the Chinese used them in traditional medicines.

Actually, the Yakut people came upon several fossilized remains of extinct prehistoric animals throughout the ages, not just mammoths. The horns of giant rhinoceroses, for example, were thought to be the talons of a colossal bird which would wage battles against the ancient Yakut people.

If it helps, this specific cat is strong, has a good sense of justice, good humored, kind, and family oriented.

He does have a dark side that he struggles with though

right away I'd say Wolfheart is probably the first obvious name

[and the appearance-based ones like Wolffur, Wolfpelt, Wolfcoat]

Wolfbite, Wolfclaw, and Wolffang are good for strong cats

Wolfspirit is a nice one for someone who has strong morals and a good spirit and, to me, works similar to how -heart does

Wolfbelly, Wolfjaw, Wolfpurr, or Wolflight would would for the good humor aspect

Wolfsong, Wolffern, or Wolfshine works for a kind, family-oriented cat [as well as -belly and -purr, but they were listed previously as well]

and Wolfmask would be good for both appearance and for a character that's faced their demons and came out stronger
