10 years ago, this kind of thing might have bothered me, especially considering I get very few reviews/comments on any of my fics.

But since the story is already 8 years old, and I haven't even thought about it in years, I ended up shrugging and going, "Meh."

Let me take this opportunity to remind all of you:

IF YOU DON'T LIKE A STORY, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE A COMMENT LIKE THIS.

I don't feel hurt because I don't love this story like I love a few others; I just had a crazy idea and ran with it. That being said, not every writer is going to just shrug this off like I have. Fanfiction writing can be an arduous process and is often a personal hobby. A lot of other writers would feel very hurt by a comment like this, especially when they wrote their story at a low point in their life.

If you don't like a story, make yourself useful and tell them WHY. "Worst story ever" doesn't tell the writer anything other than you don't like it. Is there something to improve on the writing style, the characterization, the ending?

Or better yet, don't comment at all.

The flippant and rampant disregard towards triggers/sensitive readers, reluctance towards sufficient tagging, and generally inconsiderate behavior from the older members of the fanfic community (especially on AO3) is something that manages to irk me semi-daily and needs to stop right the fuck now.
