Location: Waterworks Mall
“No! I was here first.” Sofia snatched the item from their hands as if it was hidden treasure that they discovered. “I was told this was the one I needed to get. You can’t have it. I need it.” She could see the way the other person was staring at her because she was acting like a psycho. “In fact, I will pay for whatever it is that you get so long as it’s not this. Deal?” A twinge of guilt began to bubble up for being so rude, but she had no choice. "My parents are in town. I need this. I've been running around all over town looking for this."

❛ ☾ ◟━ LOCATION: outside the police precinct
❛ ☾ ◟━ TIME: afternoon
❛ ☾ ◟━ STATUS: open to everyone
Sometimes Gwendolyn wondered if it were best to just pack up and disappear without a care in the world. However, the idea of being on the run seemed too good to be true as she was certain that the Wades wouldn't dare to let that happen. It was evident that the current events around Wilmington were draining the life out of her as she struggled to comprehend how one place can be filled with so much complexities in its people and history. It was a mystery she was still struggling to solve.
Taking a long drag of her cigarette, the Chief of Police stood at a corner outside the precinct in hopes of having a quiet break from all the chatter and requests. However, she heard someone approaching and immediately blew out the smoke, before crushing the stick underneath her foot and making her way back inside. "Any questions, concerns or complaints, please file it at the front desk. If you're the media, I'm not taking any interviews at this time."

sloane could not believe how bad her date had went the night before and she wasn't sure why in the world she thought that joining a date website was a good idea. "god," she huffed, walking next to her friend as they made their ways down the side walk toward their lunch destination, "i swear that i attract the weirdest people. how hard is it for me to meet a normal girl? or well, normal enough. last night, i met up with this girl and she told me she saw dead people. i can't tell if she's seen too much tv or she was on something. either way, that date was over just as soon as it started."

— OPEN STARTER
location: Animal Acres
"Olaf, get back here!" Jemma shouted, fully aware it'll attract unnecessary attention towards her. But what else could she do when the sneaky pup had taken advantage of the single second she'd let her guard down. Bringing him along was a bad idea, she knew it the second she'd put that leash on him. She knew exactly how overly excited the pup would get around so many people and other animals yet she'd seen it as the perfect opportunity to work on his obidience. But it turned out the joke was on her since she was the one to learn her lesson. "I'm sorry," she was almost out of breath by the time she caught up to the naughty pup. "Did he destroy anything of yours already?"

Location: Valerio’s Bakeshop ( his mom’s bakery in Midtown )
The bakery was full of chatter, the smell of freshly baked bread, and people filling up their trays with The Goods™. Just as colorful rice cakes, sweet pastries, savory buns, and other traditional Filipino baked goods flew off the shelves, a small lady with greying hair and surprising mobility restocked the shelves just as fast. At the register, Val was finishing up with the latest customer, handing over a neatly packed bag of warm bread with an even warmer smile and a “Salamat po.”
The soft chime of the front door’s hanging bell caught his attention, making him glance up. “Hey there, welcome in!” he called out, his smile widening as he leaned against the counter. “Can I help you with anything? Need any recommendations? The pan de sal’s fresh out of the oven, still nice and warm!”

LOCATION: Anywhere really
"So --" Jayden began, plopping down into the seat next to them. Something about his features looked-- happy? But to look at him closer was to see that he was a man on the edge. The smile on his face was forced, the way his knee began to shake up and down at an alarming rate, said something was on his mind. "-- lets play a game, collect a little hat of answers." He suggested, "Gonna be kind of like twenty questions, lets pick each other's minds a little." There was a challenge in there, something that if someone didn't know him well would just pushed off as him being himself. Only, he was on a count down to losing his entire damn mind. "You down? Open book. Can ask anything."

"you know," the therapist started, "most of the time i would be looking forward to halloween but a part of me is thinking that the psycho going around wilmington and taking people is going to use the whole costume thing to their advantage." pearce wasn't normally so serious unless he was at work but people were genuinely getting hurt and he was concerned as to what was going to happen to a place he considered home. "i just think everyone should consider how much of a bad idea it is with everything going on. i know everyone has that mindset that it couldn't possibly happen to them but it very well could. it could happen to anyone."

closed to everyone (capped at 4/4) location: mercy hospital
Elena's life had changed drastically in the last month and plans she'd made for the future had all erupted in front of her in a disaster. She'd thought he'd been the man she was going to marry and have kids with but that had failed miserably but one thing had stuck with her even on the way back to Wilmington from New York City. She wanted to have kids. She wasn't getting any younger of course and so her options were growing more limited which was why she'd made the appointment with the fertility specialist who had gone through the whole procedure of how to freeze eggs and what it would demand from her mentally and physically.
She'd just left their office and was tucking the brochures and all in her bag when she collided with someone, the papers falling to the ground as she tried to gather them up. "I'm sorry...I should've been more careful."

"Tell me why, any time I tell someone that I have piercings, and tattoos, their first question is always - 'Got any somewhere I can't see?' Like, dude -- maybe, but you just killed your chance of finding out for sure." She asked, turning to the person next to her, holding out the pool stick. "I also just want to say something like 'If you just want to see me naked, just say so. It may cost you, but, at least, you're upfront about it."

capping at: (0/4)
location: lincoln park
Layla wandered through Lincoln Park, camera at the ready, soaking in the sun. With the craziness happening, she needed an outlet—a way to stop thinking or worrying. She found that in photography. As she zeroed in on a pond nearby, a person strolled into her frame. It was then that a squirrel decided to play chicken with the person’s feet. Without even thinking, her finger hit that shutter button, freezing the episode in digital glory. She cracked up as she lowered her camera, the whole scene was just too funny. "That squirrel must have really liked your shoes. I’m at the right place at the right time," she said to the person with a chuckle. “Let me know if you want me to delete it and I will.

location: tasty treats
The incident during the mayoral ball still bothered her. These days, wherever she went out, she was never without protection. Mainly pepper spray and taser. Paranoid couldn’t even begin to describe how she felt. Lost in thought, she didn't notice the person in front of her until it was too late. She bumped into them, nearly spilling their drink. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" she said, her heart racing—though this time it had nothing to do with the stalker. As she looked up to apologize further, recognition dawned on her face. Her eyes widened, relief washing over her. Finally, she managed a weak smile, her voice barely above a whisper as she said, " it’s been a while. I didn't expect to see you here. How’s your day going?" Better than hers, she hoped.

All night Rylan was looking for a chance at challenge. It was, after all, what kept him going — a good challenge always had the power to fuel up with desire for life. "You better know what you're about to get youself into." He warned, lifting up his glass to his lips; the alcohol already burning in his stomach and veins, fueling him up further. "Because turning back isn't an option."

The last couple of weeks had been a handful that's for sure. Sierra, prompted by the meeting with her brother, that gone to her parents' home after years to talk to her mother about the situation and to stop meddling in her life and, of course, being among her family never really helped. Not Harry, of course. Seeing him had broken her heart but for different reasons. The distance that had grown between them, but not for the pain he brought to her soul. Her brother never brought her that, but her father did. And seeing her mother didn't help either. So she had to get away for a while, take a few weeks off to herself and be out of town—out of her troublesome life. She didn't go far, visiting some friends in California, and she was back just as quick as she went. Because she was a workaholic (and deep down she was scared to be replaced at the station).
Returning wasn't easy either, so much to get to, so much paperwork to review, too much to catch up on. She needed a fucking drink at the end of her day, so there she was, downing a whiskey as if there was no tomorrow. With a deep sigh, she ordered a second dose and looked to her side. "So, what's gotten you here tonight? I know what brought me."

❛ ☾ ◟━ LOCATION: carriage falls country club / mayoral ball
❛ ☾ ◟━ TIME: during the blackout period
❛ ☾ ◟━ STATUS: open to those in the vicinity
One moment, it was nothing but chatter, laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses all around as the vast majority enjoyed the celebration. The next it was darkness all around with worrisome partygoers and brewing chaos. It didn't help that alcohol was served and surely enough would mean future injuries to come for those who had a little too much and weren't careful. Did she even hear some glasses break? At this rate, Kimberly's heart sank completely as soon as the blackout took place. To see her and her team's work go to ruins as she wasn't sure what to do next brought her anxieties to the forefront as she immediately reached for her phone to see if she was able to get signal for any news or incoming messages. Instead, she was met with nothing.
"Shit." she said outloud to whoever's next to her. "Okay don't panic...Surely there's a generator that needs to be up and running right? Why did it have to happen now!? I spent all day getting ready and I did not look this cute just for all this to not be seen." She used that as a front since it pained her to even comment on her and her team's hard work at this point and she was doing her best to not be on the verge of complete tears. "Like I'm sure you look cute too, but I can't even see shit to even determine that. And no, the phone's flashlight doesn't even count especially since it has crappy lighting and we should be conserving battery. Anyways, are you okay though? You didn't like trip over your own feet or anything like that?"

open starter location: ordinary (jemma's tea shop in midtown)
Jemma tried taking time off in order to process the news of her brother being arrested but in the end she felt worse instead of better. Planting seeds and repotting plants was something that usually made her feel better but not when it meant she'd succumbed to her thoughts and that was the last place she wanted to be right now. She felt the urge to be around people even when she wasn't ready to meet the judgement in their eyes. First their uncle's name being linked to the mayor's cold case, now Kian being arrested for one. "Shit." The swear escaped her lips before she was able to process it when Jemma knocked a jar off the shelf and dried leaves scatterred on the floor. "Olaf! No!" She scolded the pup who rushed to give it a taste.
