I'm only reading x reader fnaf fanfics(exept one) so there's that. Also, as far as i'm aware, all of them use they\them pronouns for the reader.

I’m hoping I’ll be posting the next chapter of Within a Sun and Moonlit Cove by early to mid February. For now, I thought I’d share two snippets from part of a future chapter of meeting with Eclipse, since the images made me snicker while writing it.

Well, I was poking at a within a sun and moonlit cove chapter and took a break on it to work on a 3/4 edited chapter of ‘this wasn’t covered in the employee handbook’.

So I think that one will be updated first, and then my hope is that since mermay is next month, seeing mermay art will inspire me again to work on within a moon and sunlit cove (tfw you went off your initial outline and have to work a chapter or two in to get back on track-but that means more mer shark bois being soft and mc being oblivious).

Been a little awhile oops.

Needed to take a break from my fnaf fics and step away. Realized that I’d been close to burnout or was experiencing burnout. Feeling much better now and I’m poking at the fics to see which one speaks to me.

Within a sun and moonlit cove is most likely, possilby the homicidal jester series one.

I will start:

Sometimes, while working on Within a Sun and Moonlit Cove, I get the urge to write a cryptid Sun and Moon fic, so I get sidetracked at times and work on another wip.

1- not good for me to write the mer sharks while thinking about cryptid creature lurking about in the forest or caves or smth, ready to snatch unsuspecting prey (friend) to hide them away.

2- I want to focus on playful manners in the mer shark bois, and the confusion of how to court human friend; not the feral possessiveness of the cryptid or weird head bobbing as said cryptid circles and inspects prey (friend) in obvious curiously. Different moods entirely.

3- I’d like to write a cryptid thing but I’m desperately trying to work on current wips and not add another. Who knows how long that will last, but I’m hoping to make progress on other wips first.

FYI I’m doing a febuwhump prompt list on the side, for Within a Sun and Moonlit Cove, of alternate timelines if something went wrong or happened differently (aiming for 1000 words or less a ch).

Mostly because I wanted to write some whump angst sadness that won’t be in the main storyline, or at least not to the extent I’ll write with the prompts.

Moon: instinctively thinks you’re an intruder *bites and looms* sulks in guilt and shame when he realizes who he was menacing. Showers you in tiny gifts from a distance with a small written apology.

Sun: hears that you’re there and as soon as he sees you flops his excited self across the sand, rapidly chirping away as his head fins flutter happily. Faceplants many times on his way before you get a great big hug, nuzzles and a delighted warbling of ‘friend!’ Won’t let go. Wants to take you for a swim.

Moon: *jealous fish noises* underwater in the dark where he can see. Can hear his twin being happy and Moon wants snuggles too but GUILT.

Well I looked in ao3 under the fnaf fandom with the mermay tag, and well, I could only find 18 fics, so, there isn't a huge selection but most of them are pretty good, I've been frequenting that specific search to see if there's any new ones because mer sun and moon specifically have my by the throat, this very niche corner of a sub fandom within a fandom, I am obsessed, so I find it disheartening that mermay is almost over because I love this concept so so so so much

Anyway im reading APEX rn (well, I haven't finished yet becauseI jumped to a new fic), its a smut fic but the story is really good im happy I chose to read it despite me not being very into smut fic

I honestly love sun and moon in this one so much im legit thinking about writing a fan made second chapter, (I would ask the authors permission) but I also know I struggle to actually finish chapters so

Obviously bamsara's "celestial omens" is good, very quality, and bam's little doodles to go with it just make it better, hehe, reader throwing their shoes at adult sun and moon

"Within a sun and moonlit cove" is also good

You find a mer egg a little far from the ocean and help them back to the sea, feed them, take care of them, the reader is just a kid but trying their best, its adorable

"The sea jesters are real science" is also good, having a fun time reading it, the reader is a scientist at a research facility where sun and moon are being studied, they are the leader of the research project, and are rather upset to find the boys in poor condition, and they immediately set to fixing that

"Fish out of water" was an interesting little one shot about a disabled reader meeting a massive leviathan sun and moon, reader has a panic attack, ya know, normal stuff

Im reading "i watched you become a stranger" by octopirate about a starving sun and moon locked into their room with reader when the automatic door breaks, it seems mers have a fast metabolism and a large appetite in this fic, so its the twin and their handler, two hungry Carnivores and a human they've grow to care for... drama

I haven't finished it yet but its cool so far

Future wip ideas:

Three ideas floating around but will keep them on paper/computer for now. Idea three took the lead

-first idea is basically a nauseating mushy romance between the reader and sun/moon. But it would be post fnaf sb because I think there’s enough floating around in the daycare itself. Fun to see how sun/moon react if placed in other situations like finding their way into one of those play places and everyone working there’s just like. All right then. New coworker I guess that can help keep an eye on the playing kids. *points to the reader* you have past experience with machines so therefore congrats, you get to have a roommate and coworker to drive into work. Sun is ecstatic. Moon is reserved. Reader is all are you f’ing kidding me?

-another idea is a post fnaf security breach where everything is rebuilt but not open since main animatronics need to be rebuilt (and Freddy is missing). Oc works with sun and moon (one body) but the oc needs them to help wrangle a new animatronic found out in the city nearby (security puppet-for this fic, they’d be sentient since the marionette was in lefty/security puppet could be put in main area). Suffice to say, the security puppet does not like its freedom revoked and does its damndest to escape. Slated to be Platonic. Enemies to friends and strangers to friends.

Idea three- basically the mc worked with sun/moon and is an after fnaf sb where fazbear co rebuilds but it’s smaller scale like old locations but this place has two floors/a bit more spacious: daycare goes into pirate cove, a stage in a dining room, a few security offices, maintenance underground, upper floors hold fazerblaster, arcade and a food court. Lower floors daycare/pirate cove, main stage, entrance area with merch stores. Essentially mc grappling with the face that sun/moon had a virus that wiped their memory aka don’t remember mc. Kicker is that there was a relationship and time spent together that trinkets and gifts accumulated so mc has to decide if they want to start over or if they just keep it as friends. Up to sun/moon mostly, as they are both curious about the new friend who looks so sad when they see them.

Generic 1st pov fic with security guard at fazbear frights who gives Springtrap a scrub down because yeesh what a smell and then goes to oops you’re actually ‘alive’ and the guard is ready to throw hands. Stop being so dramatic bunny man. Also had interludes with marionette and other animatronics. Outline more or less down. Motivation was low.
