list of mixed name ideas (nov 5, 2024)
in this list, there's any type of names (mostly for english-speaking people though): typical first names, noun names, mythology names, etc.
i sorted them into three categories: androgynous, feminine and masculine.
if you have more ideas of names for trans folks, writers, etc, just lemme know! (Can also be not-so-cool names for the writers, we need them for the asshole side characters :3)
i update the list every time I have a lot of new name suggestions. this is not the newest version, but you can find it under the tag #updated name list on my profile.

We're moving slowly, yay.
Part 1 | Previous part
3. 52 BBY. Korda Six
But it was chaos. Marco spoke rapidly in Italian, gesturing wildly. Elise and Sophie cried, clinging to each other. Sarah tried to translate what little Italian she knew (which wasn't much at all), but the words jumbled in her panic. Liam snapped at Marco to calm down, his frustration boiling over.
“Stop!” Jenna yelled, her voice cutting through the noise. Everyone froze, staring at her.
She took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. “We can’t fall apart,” she said firmly. “Amy needs help. We all do.”
The group stared at her, the language barriers and stress still palpable. But for now, they fell silent, waiting for her to decide what to do next. Jenna crouched down in front of Marco and Pietro, her heart pounding as she struggled to find the words. She didn’t speak Italian, and they didn’t understand English, but she had to make them understand. Taking a deep breath, she pointed back toward the wreckage and then mimicked searching, shielding her eyes with one hand and scanning the horizon.
“Look,” she said slowly, her voice steady but urgent. “We need to find the others. Alive. Do you understand?”
The boys exchanged a glance, their brows furrowing in confusion. Jenna bit her lip, racking her brain for another way to explain. She pointed to the wreckage again, then tapped her chest and mimicked walking, looking around. Finally, she gestured toward the rest of the group and spread her arms, as if gathering people together.
Marco’s face lit up with understanding. He nudged Pietro, speaking quickly in Italian. Pietro nodded, his eyes widening, and the two boys scrambled to their feet.
“Troviamo gli altri!” Marco said, his voice full of determination.
Jenna exhaled in relief and nodded, giving them a small smile. “Thank you,” she murmured, even though she knew they couldn’t understand her.
The boys took off toward the wreckage, their figures disappearing into the smoke and debris. Jenna watched them go, silently praying they would find someone else alive.
Turning back to the group, she saw Liam stepping forward, his face grim but composed. He was taller than most of the others, and his presence exuded a quiet authority.
“I’ll keep an eye on everyone here,” Liam said, his green eyes meeting everyone else's “Sarah, you stay with Amy and Ana. Make sure they’re comfortable. If anything changes, yell.”
Sarah nodded, her small hands trembling slightly as she crouched beside Amy. The older girl’s chest rose and fell shallowly, her face pale and still. Ana sat nearby, cradling her broken arm, her dark eyes wide with worry. Sophie asked Liam something in a small voice, clutching Elise’s hand tightly. Liam looked down at the French sisters, his voice softening. He told them something, probably to stay with Sarah. The girls nodded hesitantly, their tear-streaked faces still tense with fear.
Jenna straightened, adjusting her grip on the makeshift metal blade she’d picked up earlier. “I’ll scout the area,” she said, her tone firm. “We need to know what’s out there. Maybe there’s shelter, water… anything.”
Liam hesitated, his protective instincts warring with the logic of her suggestion. Finally, he gave her a nod. “Be careful,” he said. “And don’t go too far. We don’t know what’s out there.”
Jenna nodded, her expression resolute. “I won’t.”
She cast one last glance at the group—Sarah hovering protectively over Amy, Ana sitting with her head bowed, Liam watching her with a mixture of concern and respect—before turning and heading out into the unknown.
The air was heavy with the smell of smoke, and the landscape was bleak, dotted with jagged rocks and sparse, withered vegetation. Jenna kept her steps light, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger—or hope.
Her heart pounded as she moved farther from the group, the eerie silence pressing in around her. Every shadow seemed to shift, every sound amplified in the stillness. But she pushed on, determined to find something—anything—that could help them survive.
___
The air felt oppressive, the silence punctuated only by Jenna’s hurried breaths and the crunch of debris beneath her feet. She scanned the horizon frantically, her eyes darting to every shadow, every flicker of movement. The landscape was alien and unwelcoming, a far cry from anything she’d known on Earth. Scraggly vegetation clawed at the ground, and jagged rock formations loomed like the spines of some massive beast.
Her thoughts raced as she walked, trying to piece together any clue about where they were. The slavers had been tight-lipped, only ever mentioning “transport routes” and “safe zones.” Nothing about the planet itself. Nothing that could help them now.
Then, something caught her eye—a glint in the sky. She froze, her heart hammering as she looked up.
At first, they seemed like distant stars, three points of light moving steadily across the heavens. But as they grew closer, she could make out their shapes. They were ships, sleek and ominous, their silhouettes sharp against the dull gray sky. Jenna’s stomach twisted with fear.
The ships didn’t look like the slavers’ vessel—they were much larger, their dark, angular designs exuding menace. She could almost feel their presence pressing down on her from above, a silent declaration of power. Her first instinct was to run, to bolt back to the group and warn them. But she stayed rooted in place, unable to tear her eyes away from the unfolding scene.
The ships hovered, seemingly surveying the ground below. Then, without warning, the sky erupted with a blinding light. Three massive bolts of crackling blue energy arced through the air, their glow so bright it burned afterimages into Jenna’s vision. They struck the ships with a soundless force, and for a moment, the vessels hung there, as if time itself had slowed.
Then they began to fall.
Jenna’s breath hitched as the ships tumbled toward the ground, their massive forms spiraling in eerie, almost graceful arcs. She didn’t wait to see them hit. She turned and ran, her feet pounding against the uneven ground as panic surged through her veins.
The group. She had to get back to the group.
Her mind raced as fast as her legs. What was that? Who fired those bolts? Were the ships a threat—or had they been a threat, and now someone had eliminated them? None of it made sense, and the uncertainty gnawed at her like a living thing.
Her lungs burned, her legs ached, but she didn’t stop until the wreckage came into view. Jenna stumbled into the clearing, her chest heaving and legs trembling from the sprint back. Her heart soared briefly when she saw Marco and Pietro had returned, each supporting one of the Chinese twins. Lin and Wei looked worse for wear—dirty and bruised, with a few gashes that had been hastily wrapped in strips of fabric—but they were alive.
“They found them near the edge of the wreck,” Sarah said, her voice tight with exhaustion. Pietro and Marco, though silent, wore a look of grim determination.
Lin leaned heavily on his brother, his dark eyes flickering with confusion and pain. Wei, clutching his side, gave a small, weak nod as if to acknowledge they had made it.
Jenna wanted to feel relieved, to collapse beside the others and catch her breath. But she couldn’t. Not now.
“Liam!” she shouted, her voice cracking.
Liam turned from where he was crouched beside Amy, who was still unconscious but breathing steadily. His green eyes locked on Jenna, his expression immediately shifting to one of concern.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, rising to his feet.
Jenna swallowed hard, trying to push the images of the falling ships from her mind long enough to explain. “I was scouting around the wreckage,” she began, her words tumbling out in a rush, “and I saw these… ships. Three of them, huge, like something out of a sci-fi movie. They were flying overhead, and then…” She paused, her hand trembling as she gestured to the sky. “Then they got blasted out of the sky. Some kind of blue energy bolts hit them, and they just—”
“Crashed?” Liam asked sharply, stepping closer.
Jenna nodded. “Yeah. They were falling. And it wasn’t far from here. I don’t know who or what shot them down, but…” She trailed off, glancing around at the others. The fear in her eyes was enough to convey the rest.
The group was silent for a moment, the weight of her words sinking in. Marco and Pietro exchanged nervous glances, while Lin and Wei, though clearly exhausted, shifted uncomfortably. Sarah, still crouched by Amy, hugged her knees to her chest. Elise and Sophie clung to each other, their wide eyes darting between Jenna and Liam.
“We have to move,” Jenna said finally, her voice steadier now. “If those ships were destroyed, whoever did it could come here next. And if they see our wreckage…”
“They’ll come looking,” Liam finished grimly.
Jenna nodded. “Yeah.”
Liam ran a hand through his tangled blond curls, his expression tense as he considered their options. “The wreckage is the only shelter we’ve got,” he said, glancing at Amy, Ana, and the younger kids. “If we leave, where do we even go?”
“I don’t know,” Jenna admitted, her voice tight with frustration. “But staying here isn’t safe. We don’t know who’s out there, or if they’re friendly. We can’t risk it.”
Jenna turned to Sarah. “Can you keep an eye on Ana and the twins? Make sure they don’t get left behind?”
Sarah nodded hesitantly, her small hands fidgeting nervously. “I’ll try.”
“What about the French girls?” Liam asked.
“I’ll stick with them,” Jenna said. “We’ll stay together.”
Liam took a deep breath, his expression hardening with resolve. “All right. We move fast and stick close. If anyone sees anything—anything—we stop. Agreed?”
The group nodded, fear etched into every face but tempered by the urgency of survival.
Jenna cast one last glance at the smoldering wreckage behind them. She could still see the faint trails of smoke rising into the sky, a beacon for anyone—or anything—out there.
And with that, they began to move.
The decision to head in the opposite direction of the fallen ships wasn’t even debated. It was instinctual, an unspoken understanding that they needed to put as much distance between themselves and the crash site as possible. They weren’t stupid. Whatever had brought those ships down might come looking for survivors—or for more prey.
Liam and Marco worked quickly to fashion a stretcher for Amy, using scraps of fabric from the wreckage and sturdy branches from the sparse vegetation around them. The makeshift stretcher wasn’t perfect, but it would do. Marco’s hands were steady as he tied the knots, and Pietro helped to ensure it was strong enough to hold Amy’s weight. Liam gave it a few testing pulls before nodding.
“All right,” he said. “Let’s move.”
Amy lay unconscious on the stretcher, her face pale and streaked with grime. Liam and Marco each took an end, hefting her up with effort but without complaint. Sarah stayed close to Ana, gently guiding the younger girl along. Ana’s broken arm was now cradled in a more secure sling, but her small frame trembled with every step.
Elise and Sophie, still clutching each other’s hands, took it upon themselves to help Lin and Wei walk. The twins were weak, and every step seemed like a struggle, but they pressed on without a word of complaint.
Jenna stayed at the front of the group, her eyes scanning the horizon. Her small hands gripped the crude blade she’d picked up earlier, and every sound—every rustle of wind or distant crackle of debris—set her nerves on edge.
“We need to find a good spot,” Liam said from behind her, his voice low but firm. “Someplace we can hide, at least for the night. A cave, a cluster of trees… something.”
“And water,” Sarah added, her voice quiet but determined. “We need to find a river or a stream. We can’t last long without it.”
Jenna nodded, her jaw tightening. “I’ll keep an eye out.”
The landscape was barren, with jagged rocks and sparse patches of scraggly plants dotting the ground. The air was heavy, carrying an acrid smell that made Jenna’s throat sting. But there were hints of life—occasional tufts of green pushing through the cracked soil, the distant chirp of some alien bird-like creature.
“Do you think there’s… animals here?” Sarah asked hesitantly, glancing at Jenna.
Jenna shrugged, her eyes never leaving the path ahead. “If there’s plants, there’s probably animals,” she said. “But I don’t know if that’s a good thing.”
They walked in silence for what felt like hours, the weight of exhaustion pressing down on them. The sun—or whatever star this planet orbited—hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the uneven terrain.
Finally, Jenna spotted something in the distance—a cluster of jagged rocks that seemed to form an overhang. It wasn’t a cave, but it might provide some shelter from the elements. She turned back to the group, her face lit with cautious hope.
“Over there,” she said, pointing.
Liam squinted in the direction she indicated, then nodded. “Let’s check it out.”
It took longer than they expected to reach the outcrop, their progress slow and laborious with Amy’s stretcher and the injured twins. But when they finally arrived, they found it was better than they’d hoped. The rock formation created a natural alcove, partially shielded from the wind and large enough for all of them to huddle together.
“This will work,” Liam said, setting down Amy’s stretcher carefully.
Marco dropped his end with a groan, rubbing his arms. Pietro immediately stepped forward to help, his face a mix of exhaustion and worry. Sarah helped Ana sit down on a flat rock, propping her arm up with a bundle of fabric. The French sisters guided Lin and Wei to a patch of softer ground, where they could rest.
Jenna stood at the edge of the alcove, her eyes scanning the horizon one last time. The wreckage was no longer visible, hidden by the rocky terrain they’d crossed. But she still felt a lingering unease, as if something—or someone—was watching.
“We’ll figure this out,” Liam said quietly, coming to stand beside her.
Jenna nodded, gripping the hilt of her blade. “We have to.”
The two stood in silence for a moment, watching as the others settled in. They weren’t safe yet, but for now, they had a place to breathe—and to think about what came next.
The group sat in a tight circle beneath the jagged rock overhang, their expressions weary but attentive. Amy lay at the center, her breathing shallow and rhythmic, her unconscious form a stark reminder of the precarious situation they were in. The dim light cast long shadows across their faces, adding to the heavy tension in the air.
Sarah fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, her blue eyes darting between the others. Finally, she broke the silence, her voice low but sharp. “Why… why do you think they took us?”
Jenna, who was sharpening the crude blade she’d picked up earlier, paused and frowned. “I have no idea,” she admitted, her tone flat. “They didn’t exactly stop to explain.”
Liam leaned back against the rock wall, his arms crossed. His green eyes were fixed on the ground, his thoughts clearly elsewhere. “They wanted gifted children,” he said finally, his voice calm but heavy with meaning.
Sarah blinked. “Gifted? What does that mean?”
Liam looked up, his gaze steady. “Kids who can do things other people can’t. Things that aren’t… normal.”
Jenna snorted softly, shaking her head. “That’s ridiculous. What, like magic or something?”
“They had a contract,” Liam continued, ignoring her skepticism. “To find those kids in places without space travel, where no one would come looking if they disappeared. They specifically targeted orphans or kids from unstable homes. They didn’t want to risk taking someone who’d be missed.”
Sarah’s face paled. “How… how do you know that?”
Liam hesitated for a moment, then raised a hand and tapped his temple. “Because I could hear their thoughts. Not all the time, but enough. When they were close, when they were distracted, I could pick up pieces of what they were thinking.”
The circle fell silent, the weight of his words pressing down on them like a physical thing.
Jenna stared at him, her expression hardening. “You want me to believe you can read minds?”
Liam shrugged. “I don’t care if you believe me. It’s the truth.” He looked at her pointedly. “What about you? Have you ever had something strange happen to you? Something you couldn’t explain?”
Jenna opened her mouth to retort, but the question caught her off guard. She faltered, her gaze dropping to the blade in her hands. “…No,” she said quickly, but her tone lacked conviction. “I mean, not really.”
“Not really?” Liam pressed.
Jenna shifted uncomfortably. “Sometimes I just… know things. Like, I can tell when someone’s lying or if something bad’s going to happen. But that’s not magic. That’s just intuition.”
“Maybe,” Liam said, his tone direct. “Or maybe it’s something more.”
Sarah, who had been listening intently, spoke up hesitantly. “When I was little… I levitated my gardening tools tools. Just for a second. My fosters didn’t believe me, and neither did anyone else. They said I must’ve imagined it.”
Jenna stared at her. “You’re joking.”
Sarah shook her head. “No. I’ve never been able to do it again, but I know it happened.”
Liam nodded, as if this confirmed something he’d suspected. “That’s what they wanted. Kids like us. Kids who can do things.”
Jenna frowned, her grip tightening on her blade. “Even if that’s true… why? What do they want with us?”
“I don’t know,” Liam admitted. “But whatever it is, it can’t be good.”
The group fell silent again, each lost in their own thoughts. The weight of Liam’s revelation hung heavy in the air, a mix of fear, confusion, and a growing sense of unease.
Jenna glanced at Amy, lying unconscious in the middle of their circle. Her fists clenched. Whatever the slavers wanted, whatever plans they had for them, she wasn’t going to let it happen. Not again.
Jenna’s eyes flicked toward Amy’s still form at the center of their circle, her chest rising and falling in shallow breaths. “Is she… is she going to wake up?” she asked quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Liam, leaning against the rock wall and looking worn from carrying the stretcher, exhaled slowly. “I hope so,” he said, his green eyes clouded with worry. “But she probably has a concussion. She took a bad hit during the crash.”
Jenna chewed her bottom lip, feeling the weight of the unspoken truth—there was little they could do for her if she didn’t wake up.
The silence was broken by Wei, who reached into the folds of his torn shirt and pulled out a small, dented water flask. Lin followed suit, revealing another flask that looked just as battered. The twins exchanged a glance, then Wei spoke in halting English, his voice soft. “Water… not much. From kitchen.”
Liam’s eyes widened in surprise, and Sarah sat up straighter, her face lighting up. “You found water?”
Lin nodded, offering the flask to Liam. He accepted it carefully, unscrewing the cap to peer inside. The amount was pitiful—barely enough for a few gulps—but it was something.
“Good job,” Liam said, giving them a small, grateful smile. “This’ll help.”
He passed the flask to Sarah, who took a cautious sip before handing it to Jenna. The cool liquid was like a balm against Jenna’s parched throat, even if it was just a small mouthful. She wiped her lips with the back of her hand and passed it on to Marco and Pietro, who shared the remaining drops with Elise and Sophie. As the flask emptied, the French sisters began speaking rapidly to each other, their voices soft but animated. Then Sophie looked up at Liam and spoke in French, gesturing toward Ana’s sling.
Liam frowned in concentration, trying to follow their words. He nodded slowly, then translated for the group. “They say they know how to make a better fix for Ana’s arm. A more permanent one. They need two sturdy branches and some fabric to make a proper splint.”
Jenna glanced at the sling Ana was using. It was a crude bundle of rags and straps that wasn’t doing much to stabilize her arm. The girl’s pale face was twisted in discomfort, and she cradled the limb close to her chest.
“I’ll get it,” Jenna said abruptly, rising to her feet.
Liam looked up at her, frowning. “Are you sure? It’s getting darker, and we don’t know what’s out there.”
Jenna held up the blade she’d sharpened earlier. “I’ll be fine. I know what to look for. Besides, I’ve got this.” It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.
The others hesitated, but no one argued. They didn’t have many other options.
“Be careful,” Liam said finally, his tone serious.
Jenna gave a curt nod, tightening her grip on the makeshift knife. “I will.”
As she stepped out from under the rock overhang, the cool air hit her like a slap. The landscape was eerily quiet, save for the occasional rustle of wind through the sparse vegetation. She scanned the area, her eyes searching for branches that were sturdy enough to serve as splints but light enough for her to carry back.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she ventured farther from the group. Every shadow seemed to move, every sound made her grip her knife tighter. But she pushed forward, determined to help Ana—and to prove to herself that she could do this.

Do your OCs have a favorite flower?
Oooo that's a fun question!
Elise: These roses were some of the first 'royal' CC I downloaded, and I used the white swatches extensively when I decorated for Andre and Elise's wedding, and I kept reusing them in my palace builds. I decided to make it canon that white roses are her favorites, so she has the staff use them extensively in decorations year-round. (Now that I think about it, they almost certainly have a greenhouse somewhere just dedicated to providing an endless supply of white roses for the queen...)
Theo: It hasn't (to my memory) come up yet in canon, but sunflowers are Theo's favorite. If you know of any good CC arrangements or bouquets with sunflowers, lmk 👀
Vivi: I haven't thought about it yet...ok I have two conflicting impulses here: 1. crocuses, because they're the first flower to bloom each spring or 2. gardenias, because they're ephemeral and very sweet-smelling. she has Goth Impulses so she'd find both romantic and tragic and doomed (the crocus blooms just to freeze; the gardenia withers and fades but leaves its scent). Much To Consider.
Lightning round, stuff I'm making up as I write it: Freddy likes orchids (b/c he's a hot-house flower), Jacques likes either dandelions or clover

For the casual affection writing prompts: "washing the other's hair?" 🥺💖
I'm just gonna say, you chose the one I was eyeing up especially! I was like, 'Hm, I like all of these, but that one makes my mind go, YES.' It gives me an excuse to write a scene that's been lodged in my head for days. I've tried to write it myself, but it just...won't come out.
Let's give it go and hope it comes out this time! >:D
I was pondering Elise, but the idea in my head is with Solas and Fane. To no one's surprise, I'm sure. Pffft!
---
"Your hair...there are strands of black within it."
Fane perked up at that statement, lifting his head and his gaze from where he was currently digesting a 'brief' synopsis of what he missed while away for two years. He still couldn't believe he had been in the Void for that long. Like the Fade, time was...nothing there. Days, months, seconds, minutes, hours; they were foreign and he had all but forgotten them due to the truths he had uncovered and the people he had met. Readjusting had proved arduous, but thankfully, he wasn't alone in that fight.
Just as he wasn't alone now, Solas at his side, precariously perched on the arm of the chair Fane was seated in, and slender fingers slowly gliding through his hair. Truthfully, he had been so engrossed in what he'd been reading, he hadn't even heard the other cross the room, or feel when a hand had began carding through locks of hair. Such unawareness just proved that he was home.
Fane let out a soft huff, smirking a bit as he raised his gaze higher to meet the steely one seemingly transfixed with the mop on his head. This, too, would be something he would have to learn to expect.
"I've been back for, what, a week, and you've only just noticed that?" Fane asked, actually letting out a snort when Solas leaned even closer and began to use both hands to sift through his hair. Evolution was taking place; a wolf was now a monkey, evidently.
"It does not appear to be the Taint, thankfully, but," Solas said, completely ignoring his statement. Fane felt two fingers suddenly pinch and lightly pull on a singular strand, making him flinch and growl involuntarily. Yes, a monkey his sky was turning out to be.
"No shit it's not the Taint," Fane said with another growl, throwing the man enraptured with his hair a withering glare, "It's my hair. I know the concept of that is foreign to you now, my sky, but that doesn't mean you have to make me bald." Another light tug had his face going deadpan and his hand shooting up to still Solas by his wrist, "Solas. Tug one more time, and I'll shift right here, right now."
Solas let out a chuckle, blue-grey finally shifting to connect with his gaze with a look of sheepishness in them, "Apologies, ma'isenatha. Merely a precaution, as well as idle curiosity," he explained before fingers tickled the strands since Fane still dutifully held the wrist it was attached to.
Fane stared at the mage for a few moments before letting out a sigh, a small smile wiggling onto his face as he relinquished control over a hand as scholarly as it was attuned to war. How good it was to be home. Truly. He'd almost forgotten what the sky held due to perpetual blackness and eerie, red lights that cast a foreboding aura of a palace that was now a prison.
"Well, if you want me to prove to you that it's one hundred percent natural, let's go to bath," Fane propositioned, not missing the way Solas' eyes and expression lit up mildly in surprise and anticipation. He smirked. "Again, not even a week."
Solas blinked, knocked out of his stupor before letting out a soft scoff, "I have no idea what it is you're alluding to," he said flatly, but Fane didn't miss the way lavender began to overtake grey.
Fane hummed, "Mm-hm." When Solas only shook his head with a small smile, Fane began to rise from his seat with a quiet wince. Void Take him, he sat for too long again. Fuck time and all it controlled.
Solas rose with him, far more gracefully and far more quick, hands coming up to cup his face and offering him a gentle smile. Any hint of desire or ulterior motives evaporated like water at that, and Fane let out a deep, slow sigh, basking in the warmth of familiar hands. How he had missed this...
"Come," Solas said, nearly whispering as his hands slid down from Fane's face, ghosting along the sleeves of his tunic, and arriving to fit themselves within his own, "I think a bath would help to soothe your body rather than my worries."
Fane huffed softly, smirking a bit, "Maybe it'll do both." He really could do with a bath. And the thought of sinking into steaming hot water, just like he used to upon his kin's mountain, gave him a feeling of comfort.
Solas chuckled, "We will find out, won't we?" he said, unlocking one hand from one of Fane's, but keeping the other perfectly entwined as leadership was handed over seamlessly.
Fane offered a chuckle of his own, following faithfully, "We will. We always do," he agreed as the two of them exited the room and headed down the hall, no hurry to be had in their synchronized steps.
Yes, he could really do with a bath. For baths...well, they were timeless--all the world seeming to float in steam and vapor, each tick of a clock no more than a droplet of water upon a marble floor. He had had baths while in Gelduaron's abode, and they were oddly...lavish, his scars practically numb from the oils used, but nothing beat a soak with his sky.
The two of them walked in companionable silence, idle squeezes from their hands, sidelong glances, and fond smiles their only means of communication. It was nice, it was familiar, and it made Fane feel...unburdened for once, even if he knew war loomed heavily over them all. There would be a lot of tragedy, a lot of loss before this was through, so any respite for them both was welcome, was needed.
"After you," Solas said with a small smile, stepping to the side as they arrived at their destination and actually bowing his head slightly in deference.
Fane blinked before shaking his head with a quiet laugh, "I should never have added in the royalty bit of the story," he said, ultimately teasing. He knew Solas was only being the wolf his spirit embodied.
Solas chuckled as he came around to stand behind him, flats of his hands appearing within moments against the muscles of his back. Fane barely flinched, his unbound scars numbed by the gentle warmth, as he turned his head to look over his shoulder with a smirk. Blue-grey sparkled with a quiet playfulness. Oh, yes. There was the 'dreaded' God of Tricksters. Laughable, really.
"Go," Solas commanded, the word no more than a push of air and actually giving his back a light push. Ah, the wolf was asserting its alpha energy? No, it was ushering him forward, wishing to enact care to a member they felt needed it.
Fane huffed fondly, shaking his head slightly before turning it to face forward once more. How could he ignore such a polite command? He couldn't. Not when it was the sky issuing them.
"I'm going, I'm going," he said with another soft laugh before walking forward and striding through the open archway without a shred of sheepishness. There were benefits of having entire section of a fortress to themselves; comforting commodities could be spent in comfort, privacy. Out of all the things he missed of the Inquisition, in the very depths of his heart, being walked in upon wasn't one.
As Fane walked further in, he immediately felt his body melt as steam greeted him excitedly. Although his draconic core was icy in nature, he adored a nice, hot pool of water. It wasn't the warmth as it was, it was what that warmth could offer; relief.
Fane sucked in a deep breath, eyes fluttering shut as heavy steam invaded his lungs before he blew it out with a calm smile. Yeah, he adored it, he adored being home.
Just as he adored the person now standing before him; a tender smile on their face, blue eyes holding that loving shade of lavender, every hardened, sharp angle of their face soft with fondness, and holding their hands, palms up, before him.
"May I?" Solas asked gently, typically, familiarly. Two words, uttered so often after every hard battle, after every nightmare, after every flare up, still made Fane's heart swell. How he loved the sky, how he desired to protect it for all eternity so that its expanse would never turn grey and still...
"Of course," Fane said immediately, taking a definitive step forward and offering himself without a shred of hesitation, a shred of shame. The time for those feelings were past, the time for hiding was no more. Now, it was time for him to give his all; for his kin, for his people, and for his sky.
Solas' whole expression turned utterly captivating, eyes melting and head nodding with, perhaps, a bit of eagerness. Two years was too long for them to have been apart, but Fane vowed to never let it happen again. They would stay together this time. Come what may.
Fane watched as Solas went about the task of unbuckling buckles, those of straps and belts, and untying already loose strings of the more fabric oriented parts of his armor. Today had been a rest day, for both of them, but he had decided to scout some sections of the Crossroads. Solas had been waiting when he returned, face stern and eyes hard, but it all eased up when Fane had proven he was in one piece. He just...didn't do well with idleness, or deranged Qunari threats lingering to snuff out the man he loved, or old allies-now enemies seeking to bring that same love to 'the light'. Never had.
Solas stepped back once all the heavier pieces had been disposed off, shifting his attention to neatly arranging them to be cleared and repaired later. Fane watched with a smidge of curiosity and of course, fondness, taking it into his own hands to finish the job of disrobing. Solas rarely did it all. It was a matter of control; the boundary between.
"Just a fair warning; I might sequester myself in here for the rest of the day," Fane announced as he carefully pulled his tunic off, being careful not to tug too harshly lest he aggravate his body more. Years would pass, but his body would never fully recover, sadly. So, he had to treat it like he always did.
"Ah, shall I leave you then? I would not wish to ruin this rare occasion of relaxation for you," Solas called back, sounding a bit farther away now, but amused. The mage was most likely putting his armor somewhere where it wouldn't get damaged. It needed cleaned, but not in water like this.
Fane snorted as he undid his boots, kicking them off and then began on his breeches, "As if you could ruin anything for me," he muttered under his breath. He pushed down the fabric, underclothes and all. The minute the steam hit bare skin, he let out a soft groan, "Steam is a wonderful thing. A wonderful, wonderful thing."
"As is the sight of a dragon baring itself for the world to see."
Fane startled slightly as Solas' voice appeared directly next to him, head shooting down to see the other smirking and appraising him with blue-lavender. Again, he hadn't even heard the other. Did the Old God soul give him silent footsteps, as well as the power to petrify? Then again, that wouldn't surprise him. His portion had given him back that which he had lost. Who knew what else it was capable of.
"I don't like that you can sneak up on me now," Fane said, all tease, no accusation.
Solas tsked, smirking more, "Then perhaps you should remain more vigilant, ma'isenatha," he teased back, a hand coming up to press itself upon his bare back; urging him, "Now, come. Sit."
Fane raised an eyebrow, but listened, moving forward to place himself on just before the bathing pool's edge. He didn't sit right away, curiosity grounding as he gave Solas' form a quick glance up and down.
"You're not undressed," Fane pointed out, "Not joining me?" Part of him was a bit disappointed, truthfully. But, not everyone enjoyed soaking in a body of hot water for hours without rest.
Solas smiled softly, placing a hand on his shoulder this time, "Not yet. I wish to do something for you first," he explained. The hand on his shoulder pushed down lightly, "So again, sit."
Fane hummed, staring into blue and quiet lavender, hoping to find some kind of answer, but let out a quiet, amused huff when there was none to be had. Well, that didn't work. The wolf was cunning today.
"By the Void, you're vague and pushy today," Fane muttered before heeding the push upon his shoulder and lowering himself down, down, down until his skin was blissfully submerged in liquid fire. He let out a much, much louder groan than earlier, "Ohh, yeah. I definitely needed this. Fuck.."
Before he could even think to let himself slip away and further down, Fane felt a gentle pressure on his scalp. His brow furrowed in confusion, ears twitching as he picked up on the sound of Solas moving around behind him, but all questions died when that pressure began to moved in circles.
"Shit," Fane cursed out airily as he sunk down to where he was seated upon a lip under the water, letting his head roll back into the hands, he knew they were hands now, massaging, scratching, and carding through his hair. Again, he hadn't heard a single thing. He was losing his touch, wasn't he? Oh well.
Solas let out a fond chuckle, "Now do you see why I was 'vague and pushy'?" Delicate fingers traveled down to the base of his neck, kneading into the tension there and another chuckle sounded as Fane let out a low, low growl of satisfaction. Yeah, he could definitely see.
"Uh-huh.." Fane uttered absently, eyes falling shut as he lost himself to two types of bliss; one from liquid, another from a solid. This was vastly better than the bath Geldauron had offered him--vastly better. Always would be.
Solas only let out a quiet laugh before letting silence wrap around them. However, never once did his tender ministrations halt, hands massaging tendons in his neck, fingers scratching at his scalp delightfully before gentle streams of water would be poured over top. It was literal paradise and Fane basked in the gift being given to him. In all the time they'd been together, hair washing was a rarity. Which was odd, as he secretly craved a pet to his head or a ruffling of his hair and Solas knew that, found it endearing even. Well, whatever brought it about, Fane loved it. He only wished he could return the favor...
That is until he felt a pang of fleeting pain from his scalp, two prying fingers pinching at a strand of hair and plucking it from the root.
"Solas!" Fane barked, sharply turning around to give this cunning, infuriating wolf the full power of a dragon's glare. Damn it all! He should be more vigilant, indeed!
A quiet gasp exited Solas' lips, eyes nowhere but on the pure black strand of hair between his fingers. "It is natural. Curious," he said plainly before blue-grey connected with his glare, "May I bother you for another, my dragon? Just to be certain it is not, in fact, remnants of the Blight."
Fane felt his face twist into a minor sneer before it went completely blank. He was too old for this. But, as he turned around, giving the elf behind him a wave of his hand that said, 'Go on', Fane couldn't help but smile as no pinch of pain followed. No, all that followed was a familiar chuckle and tender kiss upon the crown of his head.
"Ar lath ma, ma'isenatha. Welcome home."
---
Wow. I really 'warmed up', didn't I? This is what happens when ideas sit in my head for too long. HAH!
I hope you enjoy it! Thank you so much for prompting me! Sometimes I need that push! <3

"you are a friend of the spider's, are you not...?" the hollow eyes of the monk barely remain upon vladimir. he does not need to look to see him; the mist sees for him, the mist reaches for him. there is a reason why it beckons him oh so often. "it is unwise to come to these lands, regardless of your affiliation."
Oh, he likes this place. It’s not often Vladimir gets to steal away a vacation to the Shadow Isles; perhaps once every decade or so, there will be someone willing to sail the Count through the dark mist and haunted seas. He’s happy to pay every penny (and oh, it’s a lot of pennies that will convince a sea captain to bring him here).
Far back in his memory, there’s a golden and vibrant island, though like everything else that exists in Vladimir’s mind, it’s faded and washed out. He remembers long summers of studying among the scholars of the Blessed Isles, and enjoying the radiance of the land. He remembers the flora (and keeps a blooming remnant, potentially the only remnant, in a garden pot inside his castle). He’s admiring another flower — though it is withered and ghostlike, when the Shepard approaches.
He’s heard many wistful stories about Yorick, enough to recognize him from Elise’s descriptions alone. Vladimir looks up from his specimen, and dons a friendly-looking smile, one that would be more familiar in the High Command’s court, instead of this graveyard island.
“I got so jealous watching Elise have all the Shadow Isles fun,” Vladimir says, his voice light and airy, “I simply had to join in.”
He snaps his field journal shut and rises to his full height, to look at Yorick. What a strange creature. Vladimir’s met so many different ghouls and ghosts, spirits and specters, and each and every one rings different. There is no vitality to siphon. Indeed, the blood that runs beneath Vladimir’s skin is the liveliest thing around.
“My gardens need some touching up, you see. I’m so tired of all the roses and marigolds. Could use some spectral poppies and undead sunflowers.”

Russian Aesthetics Tag Game
I was tagged by the lovely, @quilloftheclouds Sank you!
RULES: bold whatever applies to your character.
Character: I’ll go with Elise since I know her best
BROTHERS KARAMAZOV :  orthodox monasteries, deep woods, starry nights,  the sound of paper being torn, dimly lit rooms, withered roses,  an unfinished letter, piles of books, the sound of shattering glass, ticking of clocks in a silent house,  heavy wooden furniture, the air before a storm, the smell of earth,  a crowd of people dressed in black, distant murmurs,  emptied streets, the fear of walking alone in dusk.
CRIME AND PUNISHMENT : coldness of the skin against a blade, slender pale fingers  &  slightly shaking hands, a red stain blooming on white fabric, lonely steps in a corridor,  the slow dripping of water, looking out of the window into the thickening darkness, a single dying candle on the table, listening to one’s breath  &  counting heartbeats,  too many stairs, the desire to be invisible, a subtle memory of kind words.
THE IDIOT  : classical statues,  wealth covered with dust, a dark house tainted with inherited madness, an unsettling feeling, long walks in a park, useless chatter,  a silken ribbon forgotten on a bench, a melancholic face,  an unexpected spring rain,  the joy of reading one’s favorite book, the clarity of mind after fully perceiving the world around, looking at cloudless sky.
ANNA KARENINA : fields of crops,  flowers brought from an early morning walk, the wind caressing a girl’s hair,  a bowl of fruit,  the smell of ripe pears,  the clatter of a spoon against porcelain when stirring tea, children’s laughter coming from the garden, soft sunlight  &  white curtains, the sensation of velvet against skin, pearls from a ripped necklace spilling on marble floor, a sudden silence in a room full of people.
WAR AND PEACE  : a glass of wine, the brightness of  a crystal chandelier, white lace, a raging snowstorm, the sound of a door being gently closed,  the moment of holding one’s breath before walking in a ballroom, indulging in looking at a beautiful earring against light, closing one’s eyes for a moment while dancing,  the sweet smell of strawberries,  a pair of gloves left on an armchair,  light scent of powder.
THE MASTER AND MARGARITA :   the chaos of a lively city,  ambient jazz in an expensive restaurants, jumping on a moving tram, the sight of Moscow from the roof of a house, yellow flowers in a vase, leaning out of the window, shelves stacked with books,  a small tin box with old photographs, strange shapes in the night sky, laughing in the middle of the night on a balcony,  colorful posters for a surreptitious magician’s show floating in the wind.
EUGENE ONEGIN :   a lonely mansion, reading a book in the parlour, faint piano melody lingering in falling silence, long evenings,  passing seasons,  discussing french novels of the moment, unspoken thoughts, leaning against the door frame,  quickly averted glance, eating a peach absent-minded, bright mornings,  footprints in snow, a loud gun-shot terrifying a flock of birds nearby.
FATHERS AND SONS : birch groves, morning mist,  moss-covered stones near a moor, scientific books,  white roses,  cheap champagne,  shabby pocket - watch, light-hearted irony,  a maladroit cello sonata, freshly mowed grass, letting thoughts come & go, a  slow yawn,  picturesque plates & bowls filled with traditional dishes, drinking tea on the porch.
DOCTOR ZHIVAGO  : a strange feeling of loss, writing poems in a diary,   traveling by train, the hesitation before touching someone’s hand, the gaze of one lost in thought,  the warmth of cinnamon,  a scarf brightly embellished with flowers, a glass of water, a threadbare jacket, the tempting void, the evanescent serenity of yesterday.
CHERRY ORCHARD : a lone chair in an empty room, falling blossoms,  old samovar,  the unsettling need for change, a mirror reflecting full moon, the disappointment of a glossy object turning worthless after second glance, a piano out of tune

One Intention, Another Direction                     @ailes-de-corbeau, @rose-red-sinner
It had taken them nights to actually reach the city itself.
That -- Parnus had suspected. Having to dig holes or find places to hide in to sleep during the day was part of a Vampire’s life. The fact that the Upyr even put up with it was a surprise to him, but he supposed she had her orders. But having to do it all with Zion Kellen-Child was a whole other matter. Why she had been the one practically chained to Parnus’ leg during this excursion was beyond his understanding, but he couldn’t exactly question it -- not trying to make peace as he was.
And though the trip there was uneventful and, frankly, maddening, it didn’t deter Parnus from the splendor of the ruined city itself when they arrived.
There were no gates, it had no sign -- it had no name that any Humans could remember. It started like the town he, Aurora, and Elise ventured to before the Storm and eventually simply grew into the ruins of towering buildings that still stood all these decades later. Something about them tugged at Parnus’ heartstrings -- they were aged, withered, and rusted. But still beautiful. Still beautiful.
“Sunrise’ll be here soon,” Parnus called out, noting how his eyes stung as he blinked while looking at the towering metal spears that seemed to want to touch the moon no longer overhead. “We need to find a base for suitable shelter. Some place we can return to.”
The amnesiac Vampire looked around. Lilita, the Upyr, was within sight.
Zion... not immediately.
“Zion! Zion! Not again...” He called out, before looking at Lilita with a frown.
“Did you see which direction she went off in?”

“Yes? Did you need something organized, Lord/Lady Corrin?”
“What do you want? I-I mean, uh, I’m here to serve you whenever you want!”
“Not surprising you wanted me, since your other servants are mostly trash... I mean, uh, I’ll get started cleaning!”
“Just gag me already... Well, I guess I have to serve both of you now, so hurry up and tell me what to do.” (invite while married)
Friendship quotes
“You’re pretty childish. Er, not that I’m saying anything against you.”
“Thanks for the break from work. A delicate flower like myself needs time to relax!”
“Ooh, next time I could dress you up in a nice outfit! Don’t worry, you’ll be more fashionable than you’ve ever been before!”
“I always thought nobles were all a bunch of lazy, good for nothing twits. But... You’re not so bad. I guess I was wrong about that. I never thought I’d be happy about that.” (A-Rank)
Lover Entrance quotes
“Welcome back! Are you trying to make me jealous, spending so much time away from home?”
“Welcome back, Corrin. Did you want a massage or tea? I’m happy to get anything for you!”
“Hey! I knew you’d be coming back soon. I-I wasn’t spying or anything!”
“Phew, those baths are sooo nice. Got in a nice soak and I feel so fresh now. My face is probably all red now, huh?”

“Hm? What a nice nap, and then waking up to your face. I must be in heaven!” (waking up, good)
“Ah-! Hey! What’s the big idea!? Wake me up like a storybook princess next time!” (waking up, bad)
“Heehee, thanks. I feel way better now! We should take a bath together sometime.” (cooling down after bath)
“Welcome back, my dear! I got you some flowers. Aren’t I the sweetest wife ever?” (present)
“Hey, get someone else to do your work one of these days. We should spend every minute of every day together...” (after any action is taken)
Lover bonding quotes
“I’m so happy we’re together... Do you know how much I love you? I’m glad you love me just as much.”
“Even if we spent the rest of our lives together, it wouldn’t be enough for me. Maybe I’d be satisfied if it was eternity, though.”
“Close your eyes! T-there’s a, uh, speck of dust on your nose. Yeah, that’s it! *~fade to black~* OK, maybe I lied just to get a kiss.” (kiss kiss)
“I love you so much it feels like I’d wither up and die without you. I know you’d never leave me though, because we’re soulmates. Besides... I’d hate for the both of us to die young.”
(Illegal petting minigame)
“I always spend a lot of time on my hair! So don’t mess it up.”
“Wah!? T-this is unexpected.”
“I AM really pretty, aren’t I? Takes a lot of work, I’ll tell you that.”
“Uh... Are you praising me?”
“Did you invite me here just for this...?”
“Is there something on me?”
“I’ll work hard from now on, so don’t forget to praise me lots!”
“I guess Elise takes after me a lot when it comes to looks, huh.”
“This jewel matches my eyes. It’s my favorite color.”
“I love roses. Especially when they’re a pretty purple color!”
“A-ah! Hey! Don’t touch there!”
“That tickles! N-no, I don’t like being tickled! Stop it!”
“Ehe~”
“I love you so much.”
“Hey... You better love me more than anyone.”
“Heehee, feel free to do whatever you want.”
“What is it? Can I do something for you?”
“My heart feels fit to burst with you around!”
“Ah~ My Prince Charming~”
“Hm... I see you with other girls a lot. You won’t miss them, right?”
“Hm?”
“How much do I love you? Tell me how much you love me first~”
“I’ll make you feel so good you won’t think of anyone else...”
“I love you. I can’t even begin to say it enough. I love you!”
“Your hand is so warm. Are you nervous?”
“We must be soulmates...”
“How did I ever love anyone else before you?”
“Hey... Tell me I’m your one and only.”
“Heehee, behave yourself!”
“You’ll make me blush~”
“I get it, I get it! But you’ll have to wait until later.”
“You belong to me, got it? Because I won’t lose to anyone when it comes to making you happy.”

The Beast of Greed//Chapter 1
Characters: Licht, Hyde/Lawless Ship: LawLicht Summary: Hyde was cursed to be a beast and the only hope he had to become human again was to learn how to play the piano. Licht didn’t know if he could trust Hyde but agreed to teach him how to play.
A/N: I wanted to put my own spin on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale since it is one of my favourites. I was thinking that KuroMahi would be a better fit but I decided to go with LawLicht because I’m super bias to my OTP.
(Ch.1) || Ch.2 ||
Every day, Licht would go into the village and pass an abandoned castle. As he walk by, he could hear someone playing a piano on the other side of the wall. Licht stood on his toes and tried to look over the stone fence but the wall was too tall. The piano ballad always caught his attention and curiosity.
The man played as if he had feet for hands. It was unfathomable how poorly the person played.
“Hey, you still don’t know how to play yet?” Licht screamed over the fence. Ever since he was young, he would hear the same song every time he passed the castle. He was a pianist and hearing the song be butchered was offensive to him. “Learn how to play beginner scales before you try to play anything. You can’t become a pianist if you don’t put in the effort to learn even that.”
Even though the person on the other side of the gate sounded hopeless, Licht would always give him advice before he left. He didn’t know why he bothered because the man continued to play the same song and forgo his advice. As Licht turned away from the gate, something was hurled over the gate and it landed at his feet.
“Did you just throw a rock at me? Are you trying to kill me? If you want to fight, come out here and face me!” Licht screamed and kicked the wall but it held strong. He wasn’t a weak person and his kick should’ve been powerful enough to destroy the wall but it didn’t. Licht picked up the rock, intending to throw it back, and saw that there was a note attached to the rock.
Can you tell what song I’m trying to play? The note read.
“Beethoven’s Für Elise.” Licht answered. It was the first time the person on the other side of the wall ever spoke to him. Though he was curious to why the person chose to write a note to him rather than speak to him normally.
Another rock flew over the gate and Licht caught it. If you can tell what I’m trying to play, then I have gotten better.
“Playing something that vaguely resembles Für Elise and playing the song well are two different things.” Licht clicked his tongue. Another rock flew over the fence but he didn’t bother to catch it. “I’m not going to play your game of catch. If you want to talk, then talk directly to me.”
Silence answered him and Licht sighed for a moment. It didn’t seem like the person was going to answer him so he decided to leave. As he walked, Licht wondered who the person was. The castle was supposed to be abandoned and cursed. It was said that a prince and all his servants were consumed by the Beast of Greed. The rumours surrounding the castle kept the courageous and foolish away.
“How about you teach me?” Licht stopped when a voice came from the other side of the fence. It was gruff and there was also something ominous in his voice. There was something inhuman about the voice that should’ve told Licht to run. But something stopped him.
The voice sounded incredibly lonely. “I’ll give you anything you want as payment. Just one lesson and I’m sure I’ll be able to play this song well enough. There’s a secret door you can use to come in if you want to. Find a brick with a rose carved into it. Once you press it, the door should open.”
The ground trembled slightly and the moss covering the wall faded until the brick appeared. Licht stared at the brick and hesitantly traced his finger over the rose. Should he press it? The voice sounded like a monster. What if the Beast of Greed still resided inside the castle? Every logical thought told Licht to turn away from the rose.
But Licht found himself pressing the flower.
The ground shook again but the tremors were more powerful and it almost knocked Licht off his feet. With an eerie groan, the wall gave way and revealed a small opening. Licht peered inside cautiously and was struck speechless at what greeted him on the other side.
A garden overflowing with life and beauty laid on the other side. Because of the dreary and lifeless exterior of the castle, he never expected the inside to be so different. There were numerous types of flowers in the garden and Licht knew he never seen anything so colourful or vibrant. It was obvious that the garden had been well cared for.
Licht walked into the garden and the flowers seemed to naturally drift to him. A soft breeze washed through the garden and gently pushed him into the center of the garden. As he walked, Licht looked around the garden but he didn’t see any sign of the Beast of Greed or the man he spoke to. He thought that he would find the person once he reached the center.
But the only thing he found was a white piano. Compared to everything else in the garden, the piano was old and worn. Its paint was peeling off and it looked as if it would crumble with the slightest pressure. Music sheets for Für Elise rested against the piano and Licht picked them up. The pages were yellow and frayed so Licht wondered how old they were.
Licht replaced them and sat in front of the piano. He played a simple scale and was glad to hear that the piano was well tuned. Once he was certain that the piano wouldn’t break beneath his hand, he began to play Für Elise in earnest. The garden seemed to react to his song as the flowers began to sway and petals danced around him.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw that one flower didn’t react to his song. A glass jar rested on a table next to the piano with a single rose inside. The rose was withered and looked to be dying but something drew Licht to it. But he turned away from it and focused on the piano keys.
“You asked me to teach you how to play and you’re not even going to come out?” Licht called into the garden once the song ended. “I can’t teach you unless you’re sitting next to me. I doubt just listening to me play will help you improve.”
“I like listening to you play.” A voice answered him and Licht turned to the direction of the voice. He could see the shadow of someone hiding behind the flowers but he couldn’t see the person clearly. “No wonder you insulted my playing. Anyone would sound like a novice compared to your talent.”
“I hate that word. Anyone can learn to be as good as me if you just put in the effort and imagination. If you really want to learn how to play, come out here and learn.”
“Can’t you just play for me one more time before I come out?” The man requested hesitantly and Licht sighed but he turned back the keys. His fingers danced across the piano and the familiar song filled the garden. Licht could hear a pair off footsteps approach him from behind but he didn’t turn to face the man because his concentration was on the song.
When he played the last note, Licht could sense the person standing directly behind him. Licht still didn’t turn to face him and pat the seat next to him. “My name’s Licht. Sit next to me and tell me how much you know how to play.”
“Can you close your eyes and place you hands on the keys?” Licht rolled his eyes but closed them and rested his hands on the middle E. He felt rough hands over his and they guided him to the right keys. Together, they played the song and the man went on. “I memorized the notes but it’s hard for me to play it with my hands… They’re too big to play anymore.”
“Who are you? What’s your name?” Licht asked and the hands over his still for a moment.
“Its been so long that I forgot my own name.” The man laughed self deprecatingly at himself.
“Well, if I’m going to be teaching you, I need to call you something.” Licht thought over several names he could give the man until one appeared in his mind. “How do you feel about Hyde? It’s a simple name and it’ll be easy for me to remember. Jekyll is my middle name and there’s a novella with the characters Jekyll and Hyde.”
“Hyde, the hideous, destructive inner beast… I guess that’s the perfect name for me now.” The man behind him laughed but it sounded sad to Licht. He opened his eyes and his heart stopped when he saw the hands over his. They were the hands of a beast.
Frantically, Licht stood and pushed the beast away from him. Hyde was shocked by is sudden actions but understood them when he saw the horror and disgust in Licht’s eyes. He glared at him and Hyde quickly pulled his cloak around him tighter to hide his face and body from Licht. But he knew that it was too late since he already saw his hands.
“You’re the Beast of Greed! You tricked me!” Licht screamed the accusation and his mind raced with possibilities. Why would the beast lure him into the castle other than to kill or eat him? He turned on his heel and ran to the opening. He didn’t know if he could outrun the beast but he refused to be killed by it.
“Please, wait Licht! I don’t want to hurt you! I just want you to teach me how to play.” Hyde begged as he ran after him. He was faster than Licht and stood in front of the opening, blocking his escape. “Just listen to me for a minute!”
“Get out of my way, you beast!” Licht screamed and kicked Hyde. He wasn’t expecting Licht to be so strong so didn’t defend himself properly. Hyde landed painfully against the wall and he struggled to stand before Licht kicked the air out of him again.
“Stay with me, please! Just until I learn how to play the piano again.” Hyde dodged Licht’s next kick and hugged Licht to stop him from attacking. His hood fell off and Licht could see his red eyes when he looked down at him. “I can’t break this curse and free my siblings without you.”
“Curse?” Hyde could feel the fight leave Licht and stepped back. He was relieved when he didn’t run from him and explained the curse to him.
“I was forced to take the form of a beast and my siblings were turned into animals by a wizard. He said that the only way to release the curse is if I can play the song Für Elise with all my heart for someone I love. I only have until the last petal of the rose falls before I’m forever cursed to stay like this. Will you please help me?” Hyde’s red eyes begged Licht more than his words did and he hesitated.
Without a word, Licht pushed away Hyde and ran through the opening in the wall. Only once he was on the other side did he look back but it didn’t seem like Hyde was chasing him. The wall closed with finality but Licht couldn’t shake how Hyde’s eyes looked. They were so earnest but they were also that of a beast. Could he really trust the man? What if his words were just a trick?
“Licht, are you still out there?” He heard Hyde’s voice on the other side of the wall. “Can you at least think about it? All I want is to be me again and I’ll give you anything for teaching me. You can even have this stupid castle! Please, Licht…”
“… Okay, I’ll think about it. Just give me a week to think it over.” Licht answered.
“Thank you! You’re a real angel, aren’t you?” Hyde found himself smiling for the first time in centuries. He leaned against the wall and closed his eyes. Licht saw him but he said that he would think about helping him. His answer was more than he could hope for or deserved but Hyde didn’t want to let the opportunity to become human slip away.
I don’t know if I’m going to update this AU look at that list of unfinished work growing so much XD but I really like this idea so far
