Flint thinks that he's Odysseus but he's actually Achilles

#is this a hot take or very cold? idk#like of course flint compares himself to odysseus in 1x02 and definitely a lot of series 3 is inspired by the odyssey and yes his reunion#with thomas in 4x10 with him holding a shovel would complete his arc as odysseus IF it was true. but if it is merely silver's story#then that just proves that silver is odysseus because that's what he sees as a happy ending. he's always comparing flint and thomas to#himself and madi (his penelope). while thomas is actually the patroclus to flint's achilles. flint is ruthless and stubborn about the war#he dies in pursuit of glory and to avenge his lover's death. and it is only then that they can be reunited in death#silver thinks he's achilles from the start (acting like he's only in it for glory and fame) but especially when he thinks madi is dead and#he is hellbent on avenging her (where flint plays odysseus's role of calming him) but that is when silver realises that he doesn't want to#be achilles and he throws it away to live a quiet life with madi instead#black sails#john sliver#james flint#re: flint thinks that he's odysseus but he's actually achilles / silver thinks that he's achilles but he's actually odysseus#< making this a recurring tag where I yap about this theory
