Thanks to my friends @weiserbooks for sending me this new book to review! The Four Elements of the Wise by @ivodominguezjr comes out June 1st and takes a much deeper dive into the four elements with which we are all so familiar. I absolutely love Ivo’s work, including his book in astrology for witches and pagans. Very much looking forward to reading and sharing with you all! #naturalmagick #naturalmagic #fourwelements #watchtowers #earthairfirewater #witchcraft #magick #booksonwitchcrafy #witchybooks #witchybookreview #occultism #westernesotericism https://www.instagram.com/p/CO6JLUtHrPJ/?igshid=nxc6rdzwovyq

The runes by horik svensson.
This book was the base for which I learned runes. It was really helpful in explaining what they mean in English and what that means for divination. If you are interested in runes I really recommend this book. You may have to read it a couple time for memorization but it’s small so that’s easy enough.

Witchy books review
I’m going to start a series of witchy book reviews. All will be tag with #witchybookreview.
I thought I’d start with one of my favorite books paganism in depth by John Beckett.
If you want to work with deity this is an excellent book. It covers the basics as well as going more advanced at times. It is a book for all paths even though John Beckett is a Druid. I’m a heathen and I got plenty out of this book. I think anyone working with deity should read it even if to refresh. Some of the book may be obvious to some like don’t ask if you are not willing to give. but it’s stuff that is still important to read.
The book is divided into three parts
1) foundations
2) practice
3) challenges (very useful)
So if you want to work with deity pick this book up 🥰

Witchy Book Review
This book was great. Lots of things to refer back to in it. There are so many traditions and spells that I can’t remember them all and need to refer back. If you are a hearth witch this book will be great for you. Honestly it’s a good book for none hearth witches as well due to the amount of protection and purification rituals. It’s just a good book it incorporate into your daily life.

Daily spell book for the good witch by patti wigington.
This book is good if you want to do a spell but don’t have an idea of what to do. Every page has a new spell on it and they don’t require too much supplies. They are very simple spells which is good in a pinch. I honestly don’t use this book much though. It kinda collects dust on my bookshelf. So that says something. I could go either way with this book honestly.

The hearth witch compendium by Anna Franklin.
This book was kinda a miss for me. I was hoping for more cooking recipes. It has some but mostly recipes for cleaning and the body. And wine which I’m not going to do anythime soon. If you want to make your own skincare and cleaning supplies (which I do but not that bad) this book is for you. I’m also gulten intolerant so I couldn’t do a lot of the recipes. Overall I was kinda disappointed with this book. I wanted more hearth traditions but nope.

Tarot your personal guide by Steven bright.
This book was alright. It gives good information on the upright cards but very little in the reverse. So if you do reverse cards it’s hard to use. It’s good for beginners to tarot for learning the upright cards. It gives you examples for each card if that card is a person, situation or you. Plus a general understanding of the cards.

Scott Cunningham’s encyclopedia of magical herbs is a must have for references.
It has SO many herbs and plants and their magickal uses. You can search alphabetically or by property. It also has some medical interactions. So if you have low blood pressure don’t take hibiscus and so on. This book is a basic to have on your book shelf.

The healing power of tea by Caroline Dow.
If you love tea this book is for you. It goes over all the kinds of tea and their medical properties and then it goes over herbal tea and what they do to the body. It also has sort by ailment pages for easy access to healing. No magickal properties except for color magick. But it’s mostly a herbalism book. Which I am very interested in. This book making using tea as medicine easy.

The pocket spell creator by Kerri Connor.
This book is a good reference. It has meanings for colors, herbs, incense, crystals and more. It also has premade spells for you to try. Good for beginners who need to refer what means what.

The signs by carolyne Faulkner
This book is good for the basics of astrology. If you are a beginner and want to understand your birth chart this book is for you. If you are more advanced I’d forget it. It has nice sections to write in and fill out a good understanding of your chart. Get to know yourself on a deeper level. But if you already understand your birth chart this book would be a waste of time. So beginners only.
10/10 recommend for beginners
Would not recommend to non beginners

Room Book Review (Review #7)
Description:
To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it’s where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.
Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it’s not enough…not for her or for him. She devises a bold escape plan, one that relies on her young son’s bravery and a lot of luck. What she does not realize is just how unprepared she is for the plan to actually work.
My Thoughts:
I had a hard time reading this at first because we are seeing this from the perspective of a five year old. The writing was so childish and unique. But i was able to get past that. When i did that i fell in love with book and the two main characters. Jack and Ma. Jack is a sweet little boy who doesn’t know about anything outside the 11X11 room he lives in with ma. Ma is a innocent woman who has had seven years of her life taken from her by old nick. This story is sad but it shows how much a mother is willing to do for her child. Room was a roller coaster of emotions for me and makes you reflect your life. I would recommend this book if you like survivor stories or stories with mothers who would do anything for their child.
