Chapter 1: City of Tomes

Week 1: Check Inventory

You're trapped in the City of Tomes - for the time being. While you're here you need money. What do you have on hand that could help you track rare books?

Quest: Take inventory of all magical tools and ingredients you have on hand. Note whether each tool needs maintenance, and if you're running low on any supplies.

Don't forget to pay special attention to your divination tools. You'll be relying on them the most to find those rare books.

Reward: 5xp, unlock: Inventory Sheet, unlock action: Leave Bedroom

You awaken from your slumber. Today is another day in the City of Tomes, the sprawling city with a library on every corner, overflowing with books of ancient wisdom.

You peer out the window of your apartment. The Towering Gate is still closed, and no one may leave the City. You can barely glimpse the beautiful forest beyond the soaring walls.

What's this? There's a letter on your desk. It's a reminder that you must pay the monthly rent of 20 coins on your room, or face eviction.

What's this? There's an envelope that was stuffed under your door during the night.

There's a printed flyer in the envelope. In large black text it reads:

WITCHES WANTED. Do you love tracking ancient tomes? Do you love civil service? HELP Mag. Greenthorn of 3306 Compendium Way find RARE BOOKS. Payment upon items received.

This might be the solution to your money problems. But before you go, you should take an inventory of your supplies. With nobody able to leave the City, unrest on the streets means you shouldn't go out unprepared.

Chapter 1: City of Tomes

Week 2: Detect Blockages

On your way to a job, you realize blockages hinder your normal path. Detect what's ahead so you can start making a plan.

Quest: Make a list of 3 short-term goals you have. Draw a map that shows the steps that are required to reach those goals.

Perform a reading on external blockages that will hinder your path on the way to accomplishing those goals.

Reward: 20xp, +1 ability point to Foresight, +1 skill point to Divination

You sit at your desk, putting the finishing touches on your Inventory Sheet. Now you're ready to leave your room and go make some money.

You pick up the flyer looking for witches to track rare books, and put it in your pocket.

>Leave Bedroom

You leave your room and carefully lock the door behind you.

You are now in the hallway of your humble lodging.

>Go to 3306 Compendium Way

You make your way out of the inn where you are a long-term lodger, and walk onto the streets of the City of Tomes. Witches, wizards, and warlocks crowd the streets. Nobody here is able to leave until the Towering Gates are unlocked.

Due to unrest, some people have barricaded streets, and some passages are not safe. But you're not helpless - you're a Witch.
