“I want to kiss you against each wall you built up to protect yourself.”

“What are you doing here?” Theo asked, looking at the beta, who was standing right in front of him.

“Can I come in?” Liam asked, his voice way too soft from the usual.

Theo nodded, letting Liam in, and then he closed the door behind him.

Theo’s apartment was small, but the chimera still thought that is was..empty. Somehow, everytime Liam was here, it felt more like home.

Liam sat on the sofa, looking at Theo and waiting for him to join him. Theo took the remoter, muting the television, which was playing a random movie in the background. Then, he sat next to the beta. Their knees brushed, sending electricity through their bodies.

“Why are you here?” Theo asked again.

“Why weren’t you at Scott’s?” Liam asked.

“It’s not an answer, Liam.” Theo said.

“Fine, I’m here because I wanted to see you. Of course. Your turn.” Liam said

Theo’s heartbeat speed up for a moment, when Liam said that he wanted to see him. He got lost in his baby blue eyes for a moment, before answering him.

“It isn’t obvious? They hate me. I don’t like being surrounded by people who keep glaring at me.” Theo said.

“You know it’s not the truth, Theo.” Liam said.

“Are you kidding me, Liam? Malia still wants to kill me, Stiles literally hates me and Scott and Lydia barely tolerates me.” Theo blurted out. Then he took a deep breath and spoke again. “It doesn’t matter how many times I save their asses, how many times I risk my life for the pack, it will always be your pack, not mine. I’m just an allie.” he said.

“You’re more than allie. To Mason, to Corey, to me, you’re a friend.” Liam said, marking the word “me”.

Theo’s chest tightened for a second. Yes, he knew that he had a different relationship with the three of them, but hearing Liam admitting it was another story.

“Well, yeah, but I’m just your backup when the McCall pack isn’t around.” Theo said, standing up.

“You’re unbelievable.” Liam said, shocking his head.

“What, Liam? We all know that you’re a pack and Scott is your alpha. Yes, we may be friends, but you all will always chose them over me, because I’m not pack.” Theo said, leaning against the window.

“But I’m here.” Liam said, standing up and slowly walking towards Theo.

The chimera was still looking outside, his back to Liam.

“Why?” he asked.

“Because yes, Scott and the others are like my older siblings, but..”

“But?” Theo said, turning around to look at the beta.

“But..” Liam said, taking a few steps closer. “It’s almost midnight, and I didn’t want to start a new year without you.” Liam said.

Theo was speechless. It was very rare for him to not know how to answer, but Liam fucking Dunbar left him without words, finding it hard to breath and heart pounding in his chest.

“Look.” Liam started, taking Theo’s hand in his. “If I’m right here talking to you, it’s because you saved me. I don’t know how many times you saved my ass but I would be dead if you weren’t right beside me everytime I was in danger.” Liam intertwined their fingers. “So, it’s thank to you that I’m celebrating a new year, and I couldn’t have done it without you.” Liam finished.

Theo stood here, trying to find something to say but suddenly his brain decided to stop cooperating. Then, he did the only thing he was good at: pushing people away.

“You should go back to Scott.” He said, dropping Liam’s hand and walking away from him. But Liam wasn’t giving up, not that night, so he grabbed Theo’s wrist and stopped him, making him turn around to look at him.

“Tell me.” He said, looking at Theo straight in his eyes. “Tell me you don’t want me here while you look me into my eyes, and I’ll go away.”

Theo looked at him but fuck, those blue eyes were gonna be the death of him.

“You can’t, can you?” Liam asked.

“What the hell do you want?” Theo asked, getting free from the hold on his wrist.

“I want you!” Liam shouted.

Theo’s heartbeat speeded up at Liam’s confessions, his expression immediately softened.

“I want you, Theo. I want you to be mine. And I want to be yours.” Liam wishpered.

Theo was a mess of what and why.

“I want to make you understand that you’re worth it. I want to love you like nobody has ever done before. I want to make you feel safe. I want to be the one you completely trust. And I want you to let me in, to let me help to drown your demons. I want to erase all your painful memories and start making new, happy memories. I want to make you happy, and I want to see you laugh more often because god, it’s the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard.”

Liam was right there, pouring his heart out to Theo, looking so handsome under the soft light of the room, and Theo was losing it. He lost every type of control over his body and there was no way Liam wasn’t hearing his heartbeat or smelling his chemosignals. But, for once, Theo didn’t care. He didn’t feel the need to lie, to hide his feelings. And just when he was about to answer the beta, Liam spoke again.

“I want to kiss you. I want to kiss you against each wall you built up to protect yourself.”

And Theo literally lost it. He couldn’t think of something to say, so he did the only thing he had been dying to do for months.

He grabbed Liam’s face, and kissed him. Liam didn’t esitate kissing him back, his hands on the chimera’s back, keeping him close. Then he moved and hand in his hair, pulling them softly, gaining a moan and the chance to push his tongue in his mouth, deepening the kiss. Theo’s hand’s were still on the beta’s face, caressing him and Liam was completely speechless because he didn’t even imagine that Theo could be that soft with him.

And then, fireworks exploded outside, making as much noise as their pounding hearts and their heavy breaths.

Liam pulled back, grabbing Theo’s hand and taking him in front of the window to watch the fireworks in the sky.

“Happy new year.” Liam said.

“Happy new year, Liam.” Theo said, holding the beta’s hand.

But he couldn’t help himself. Liam was so genuinely beautiful standing there, an happy smile on his face as he watched the fireworks outside. So Theo pulled him for another kiss, slow and sweet, that the beta though he could die right in that moment because fuck, he really loved the soft side of Theo.

“You’re right, I can’t.” Theo said, when he pulled back. “I can’t say that I don’t want you here because damn, I want you here, always. You make me feel home. You make me feel things, and I feel alive when I’m with you.” Theo said.

Liam looked at him, the smile on his lips never leaving him.

“Look, I know I basically have no experience about feelings and I’m not the easiest person in the world and you deserve way more than me, but I’m selfish enough to tell you that if you want, we can give a try. If you want, I’ll let you in.” Theo said.

And Liam was about to cry for happiness because he knew that Theo letting him in was his way of saying that he loved him, and it was all the beta needed.

He hugged Theo, and he knew that from that moment, he would not be able to ever find another place as safe as Theo’s strong arms and his warm chest. The chimera hugged the beta close, inhaling his scent.

“It’s gonna be an amazing year.” Liam said, smiling against Theo’s chest.
